Glioma is a lethal malignant brain tumor, it comprises about 80% of all malignant brain tumours. Mounting evidence has reported that YTHDF2 plays a significant role in the cancer progression. However, the effects of YTHDF2 on the prognosis of low-grade gliomas (LGGs) and its correlation with tumor immune infiltration are unclear. The present study was designed to determine the biological functions of YTHDF2 in glioma and to evaluate the association of YTHDF2 expression with glioma progression.Clinical data on patients with glioma were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), the Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA), the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), as well as the Rembrandt and Gravendeel databases. The correlations among YTHDF2 expression, pathological characteristics, glioma progression and clinical outcome were evaluated. In addition, the correlation of YTHDF2 expression with immune cell infiltration was analyzed too.We found that YTHDF2 was significantly up-regulated in LGGs which correlated with tumor grade and poor prognosis. Interestingly, we showed that YTHDF2 expression in LGG was associated with copy number variation, DNA hypomethylation, and induced transcription factor YY1. Besides, KEGG pathway analysis shows that YTHDF2 mainly participates in the immune response and oncogenic signaling pathway. Additionally, YTHDF2 is positively associated with diverse immune cells infiltration, immune cells, and multiple immune checkpoint molecules. Finally, we confirmed that YTHDF2 was highly expressed in LGGs tissues and correlated with the tumor grade with immunohistochemistry assay. More importantly, our results demonstrated that YTHDF2 was elevated in GBM cells. Knockdown of YTHDF2 significantly inhibits the proliferation and migration of GBM cells.YTHDF2 correlates with glioma progression and immune cell infiltration, suggesting that YTHDF2 may be a useful prognostic biomarker for glioma.

Ion irradiation induced nucleation and growth of nanoparticles in amorphous SiC at elevated temperatures are investigated in this study. Both as-deposited amorphous and Kr ion irradiation-amorphized SiC films are used for the investigation. Similar behavior of particle precipitation in the two types of the films is observed. It is found that the threshold temperature for nucleation is between 550 and 700 K, which is considerably higher than the critical temperature for full amorphization in SiC irradiated with Kr ions. There is a temperature regime up to at least 900 K, where the nucleation and growth rates are only weakly dependent of the irradiation temperature. This temperature regime is potentially useful to tailor the size and density of nanocrystalline SiC precipitates by optimizing the ion irradiation conditions.

Background: Intravascular large B-cell lymphoma is a rare lymphoma that causes symptoms in the central nervous system, skin, and bone marrow. Case presentation: We report a 75-year-old man who was admitted to the hospital with abdominal pain for four hours. Physical examination revealed abdominal pain and mottled skin. Laboratory tests revealed thrombocytopenia and elevated levels of lactate dehydrogenase.Abdominal CT examination showed thickening, edema, and necrosis of the small intestine wall. Surgical excision of the necrotic small bowel revealed numerous small rounds, consistent, atypical lymphocytes in the mesenteric vein. These cells were positive for CD20, CD79a, CD10, and BCL-2, and were positive for Epstein Barr virus-encoded small RNA (EBER) by in situ hybridization. The patient was diagnosed with IVLBCL and died of MODS after a week of hospitalization without chemotherapy. Conclusions: IVLBCL that occurs in the small intestine and even in the gastrointestinal tract is an exceedingly rare disease with insidious onset, rapid disease progression and poor prognosis. Fully understanding its clinicopathological features is helpful to understand the disease, make an early diagnosis, and prevent the rapid deterioration of the disease.

Synovial macrophage polarization and inflammation are essential for osteoarthritis (OA) development, yet the molecular mechanisms and regulation responsible for the pathogenesis are still poorly understood. Here, we report that pseudolaric acid B (PAB) attenuated articular cartilage degeneration and synovitis during OA. PAB, a diterpene acid, specifically inhibited NF‐κB signalling and reduced the production of pro‐inflammatory cytokines, which further decreased M1 polarization and vessel formation. We further provide in vivo and in vitro evidences that PAB suppressed NF‐κB signalling by stabilizing PPARγ. Using PPARγ antagonist could abolish anti‐inflammatory effect of PAB and rescue the activation of NF‐κB signalling during OA. Our findings identify a previously unrecognized role of PAB in the regulation of OA and provide mechanisms by which PAB regulates NF‐κB signalling through PPARγ, which further suggest targeting synovial inflammation or inhibiting vessel formation at early stage could be an effective preventive strategy for OA.

Compared to single-crystal SiC, nanocrystalline SiC with high densities of stacking faults has been reported to be much more resistant to amorphization under self-ion and electron irradiations. This study examines H2+ ion irradiation-induced amorphization in nanocrystalline 3C-SiC with dense stacking faults using transmission electron microscopy. The results show that full amorphization at room temperature occurs at a comparable dose to that for its single-crystal SiC counterpart under the identical irradiation conditions. Both materials are amorphized as a result of local damage accumulation. The formation of the nucleation sites for amorphization is not appreciably affected by the presence of stacking faults and grain boundaries. The behavior may be attributed to the significant chemical effects of the implanted H atoms that may completely immobilize the point defects in SiC at room temperature. The results suggest cautions be excised to use nanocrystalline SiC materials in high H irradiation environment at room temperature. Further studies of the H behavior at elevated temperatures are warranted.

The response of nanocrystalline silicon carbide (nc-SiC) to nanoindentation is investigated using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. It is found that the hardness of the nc-SiC decreases with decreasing grain size, showing an inverse Hall-Petch relationship. The behavior is primarily attributed to the reduced number of intact covalent bonds with grain refinement. Dislocation nucleation and growth in nc-SiC are strongly suppressed by the grain boundaries (GBs). In addition to the dislocation region in the grains, the indentation-induced amorphization of nanograins proceeds preferentially from the GBs, leading to grain shrinkage until the grains are fully amorphized. The results provide an improved understanding of the mechanical properties in nc-SiC and other nanostructured covalent materials.

Pikeperch (Sander lucioperca L.) is a freshwater fish species of major economic importance in several producer countries. Insufficient information about growth-related genes in pikeperch prevents their breeding through marker-assisted selection (MAS). This study aimed to clone growth-related genes (IGF-I, IGF-II, and GHR) of pikeperch to detect single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with growth, laying the foundation for MAS in pikeperch. Full-length cDNA sequences of IGF-I, IGF-II, and GHR were isolated using RACE PCR; the cDNA sequences obtained were 883, 1210, and 1995 base pairs, respectively, encoding proteins of 183, 215, and 664 amino acids. The three genes were expressed in all tissues tested, though at especially high levels in the liver. Four SNPs, comprising two in intron 1 of IGF-I, one in intron 3 of IGF-II, and one in the coding region of GHR, were found in a cultured population of pikeperch. Three of the SNPs were successfully genotyped by Kompetitive allele–specific PCR in a randomly mixed group of 298 individuals. The SNP in IGF-II was significantly associated with body weight (SL2-IGF-II-c.544+1111_544+1112delAAinsTC; allele frequency, AA:TC = 52.8:47.2; AA-AA (26), AA-TC (54), and TC-TC (20) genotypes). We revealed that SNX20 was up-regulated in LGG, and its higher expression was associated with adverse clinical outcomes and poor clinical characteristics, including WHO grade, IDH mutation, 1p/19q codeletion, and primary therapy outcome. The results of the Cox regression analysis revealed that SNX20 was an independent factor for the prognosis of low-grade glioma. Meanwhile, we also established a nomogram based on SNX20 to predict the 1-, 3-, or 5-year survival in LGG patients. Furthermore, we found that DNA hypomethylation results in its overexpression in LGG. In addition, functional annotation confirmed that SNX20 was mainly involved in the immune response and inflammatory response related signaling pathways, including the T cell receptor signaling pathway, natural killer cell-mediated cytotoxicity, and the NF-kappa B signaling pathway. Finally, we determined that increased expression of SNX20 was correlated with infiltration levels of various immune cells and immune checkpoint in LGG. Importantly, we found that SNX20 was highly expressed in glioma cell lines. Depletion of SNX20 significantly inhibits glioma cell proliferation and migration abilities. This is the first study to identify SNX20 as a new potential prognostic biomarker and characterize the functional roles of SNX20 in the progression of LGG, and provides a novel potential diagnostic and therapeutic biomarker for LGG in the future.

The spindle assembly checkpoint (SAC) is a highly conserved monitoring system that ensures a fidelity of chromosome segregation during mitosis. Bub3, a mitotic Checkpoint Protein, is a member of the Bub protein family, and an important factor in the SAC. Abnormal expression of Bub3 results in mitotic defects, defective spindle gate function, chromosomal instability and the development of aneuploidy cells. Aneuploidy is a state of abnormal karyotype that has long been considered as a marker of tumorigenesis. Karyotypic heterogeneity in tumor cells, known as "chromosomal instability" (CIN), can be used to distinguish cancerous cells from their normal tissue counterpart. In this review, we summarize the expression and clinical significance of Bub3 in a variety of tumors and suggest that it has potential in the treatment of cancer.

Low grade glioma is one of the most common lethal cancers in the human nervous system. Emerging evidence has demonstrated that homeobox A cluster (HOXA) gene family plays a critical role in the transcriptional regulation as well as cancer initiation and progression. However, the expression, biological functions and upstream regulatory mechanism of 11 HOXAs in low grade glioma are not yet clear.In this study, we utilized various public databases and bioinformatics analyzed, including TCGA, CGGA, Rembrandt, HPA, LinkedOmics, cBioPortal, TISDIB, single-sample GSEA (ssGSEA), TIMER, LnCeVar, LASSO regression, Cox regression, Kaplan-Meier plot, and receiver operating, characteristic (ROC) analyses, GDSC and CTRP databases to analyzed the mRNA and protein expression profiles, gene mutation, clinical features, diagnosis, prognosis, signaling pathway, TMB, immune subtype, immune cell infiltration, immune modulator, ceRNA network and drug sensitivity of 11 HOXAs. Growth curve and transwell assays were utilized to study the biological characteristics of HOXA6 in LGG progression.In the present study, we found that 11 HOXAs (HOXA1, HOXA2, HOXA3, HOXA4, HOXA5, HOXA6, HOXA7, HOXA9, HOXA10, HOXA11 and HOXA3) were consistently up-regulated in LGG tissues and GBM tissues. Up-regulated of the HOXAs expression were significantly correlated with higher tumor stage, IDH mutation status, 1p/19q co-deletion, histological type and primary therapy outcome. Survival analyses showed that higher expression of HOXA1, HOXA2, HOXA3, HOXA4, HOXA5, HOXA7, HOXA9, HOXA10, HOXA11 and HOXA13 were correlated with shorter overall survival (OS), disease-specific survival (DSS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in LGG patients. Univariate and multivariate analyses revealed that HOXA1, HOXA6 expression and tumor grade, age, primary therapy outcome and age were independent factors affecting the prognosis of LGG patients. ROC curve analysis of HOXAs showed that HOXAs had a high accuracy (AUC0.80) in predicting LGG. Furthermore, gene functional enrichment analysis indicated that HOXAs mainly involved in the inflammatory response and immune regulation signaling pathway. CNV and DNA methylation significantly affect the expression of HOXAs. Finally, we uncover that HOXAs expression are highly correlated with immune cells infiltrate, immune modulator and drug sensitivity. We also uncover that the HOXAs related ceRNA network in LGG. More importantly, we found that HOXA6 was highly expressed in LGG cells lines and significantly affected their proliferation and migration abilities.In conclusion, our data demonstrated that HOXA was correlated with progression and immune infiltration, and could serve as a prognostic biomarker for LGG.

Background The influence of the insufficient developmental shape of acetabulum on the collapse occurrence of osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) was reported rarely after intertrochanteric curved varus osteotomy (CVO). The purpose of the study was to quantitatively evaluate the influence of different weight-bearing portions on collapse risk of femoral head necrosis after CVO with a finite element method.Methods Insufficient weight-bearing portion and normal weight-bearing portion hip joint finite element models of CVO (15°, 20°, 25° and 30°) for osteonecrosis of the femoral head with a lesion of 60°, dividing into three types (A, B and C1) were simulated. The Mises strain and collapse index were analyzed in terms of the lesion.ResultsThe maximum and mean Mises strain were higher in insufficient weight-bearing portion models with a positive quantitative increment of strain, especially for type C1 and B in no osteotomy situation. However, the collapse index was more than 1.0 in type C1, even after some degree of this CVO, and in type B of insufficient weight-bearing situation. ConclusionsProgressive collapse risk was increased in the insufficient weight-bearing portion situation. Thus, the decision-making of CVO for the treatment of osteonecrosis of the femoral head should be different with insufficient weight-bearing portion of the acetabulum. We recommended that the unfavorable biomechanical shape of acetabulum should be treated before this CVO was performed when the necrotic type was more than B.

The pikeperch Sander lucioperca is an economically important freshwater species that is currently threatened by higher summer temperatures caused by global warming. To clarify the physiological state of pikeperch reared under relatively high temperatures and to acquire valuable biomarkers to monitor heat stress in this species, 100 fish were subjected to five different temperature treatments, ranging from 23 °C (control) to 36 °C. The physiological and biochemical indexes of liver and blood were determined, and heat-shock cognate 70 kDa protein (Hsc70) mRNA expression profiles were analyzed. The results showed that the activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase in heat-stressed pikeperch first increased and then decreased, exhibiting peaks at 34 °C, 28 °C, and 28 °C, respectively. The level of thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS) in all experimental groups was significantly higher than that of the control. The numbers of red blood cells, the packed-cell volume, and the contents of hemoglobin were significantly higher in the 34 °C and 36 °C treatment groups. Under heat stress, the albumin, cholesterol, and triglycerides contents decreased with increasing temperatures. Real-time fluorescence-based quantitative RT-PCR showed that Hsc70 mRNA levels increased in all eight of the tested tissues under heat stress. Expression reached maximum levels at 34 °C in the muscle, heart and gill tissues, and at 36 °C in the other five tissues. These results demonstrate that several physiological and biochemical phenotypes, such as oxidative stress, antioxidant enzymes and molecular chaperones, could be important biomarkers of heat stress in pikeperch, and are potentially valuable to uncover the mechanisms of heat-stress responses in fish.

Zirconolite based glass-ceramic has been deemed as a promising waste form for high-level waste (HLW). In this study, the zirconolite (nominally CaZrTi2O7) glass-ceramic based on a SiO2-B2O3-Na2O-CaO-ZrO2-TiO2-Al2O3 system was sought to be synthesized by two-step thermal treatment. The temperature effects such as nucleation temperature and cooling rate were studied. The influence of the Ce-dopant concentration on crystallization behavior was also investigated. For characterization, powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetry-differential scanning calorimeter (TG-DSC) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were applied. Our results illustrate that homogeneous zirconolite with the particle size of 1.8 μm can be the target phase when the glass matrix underwent a rapid cooling process and the nucleation temperature was controlled at around 860 °C. Besides, the results also indicate that the distribution of the zirconolite along with its lattice parameters change regularly as the increase of CeO2 concentration. A larger crystal size of zirconolite phase and some trace amounts of precipitated phases are observed when the CeO2 concentration exceed 3 wt%. This work emphasizes the synthesis of zirconolite glass-ceramic in a SiO2-B2O3-Na2O-CaO-ZrO2-TiO2-Al2O3 system, which is expected to provide basic technical data for underground disposal of HLW.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most aggressive tumors of the central nervous system. Here, we report that SH3 binding glutamic acid-rich protein like 3 (SH3BGRL3) was extremely highly expressed in GBM and glioma stem cells. SH3BGRL3 high expression associates with worse survival of GBM patients. Functionally, Targeting SH3BGRL3 obviously impairs GSCs self-renewal in vitro. Most importantly, we first report that SH3BGRL3 is a direct transcriptional target gene of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) and thereby activating STAT3 signaling in turn. Additionally, forced expression of the constitutively activated STAT3 (STAT3-C) rescued GSCs self-renewal inhibited by SH3BGRL3 silencing. Collectively, we first identified a critical positive feedback loop between SH3BGRL3 and STAT3, which facilitates the tumorigenic potential of GBM.

As a kind of chronic inflammatory diseases, Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has a low cure rate and easy recurrence. It has widely reported that abnormal activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) signaling pathways are associated with the development of RA inflammation. Blocking the inflammatory signaling pathways of rheumatoid arthritis fibroblast-like synoviocytes (RA-FLS) can delay the development of RA. Ononin is a natural isoflavone glycoside and plays a key role in modulating inflammation related signaling pathways. However, whether Ononin exerts anti-inflammatory effects on RA inflammation remains unknown. In this study, we evaluated the therapeutic effect of Ononin on RA by establishing a tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α)-induced RA-FLS cell model. Our data confirmed that Ononin could alleviate TNF-α-induced RA-FLS and MH7A cells viability, increase cell apoptosis, decrease the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines like interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and interleukin 6 (IL-6), and further inhibit the abnormal activation of NF-κB and MAPK pathways. Our results suggested that Ononin could be a potential therapeutic agent for RA.

In order to correctly understand the mechanical behavior, damage mode and damage mechanism of AlSi10Mg optimized structure under compressive load, a series of experimental and simulation studies were carried out. The stress-strain response, bearing capacity, energy absorption characteristics, damage mode and mechanism of the structure are analyzed and discussed. The results show that AlSi10Mg porous structure has obvious strain hardening effect, but no obvious strain rate effect. The volume fraction of AlSi10Mg porous structure increased from 9.43% to 22.15%, and its bearing strength increased from 22.34 MPa to 50.98 MPa. The optimized design structure is complex in this paper, which eliminates undesirable failure modes, and the benefit of high specific energy absorption is retained. The experimental and simulation results show that shear failure is the main cause of structural damage, and the normal of the failure section and the load action direction are roughly inclined at an angle of 45° ∼ 55°. The research results can provide an important reference for the optimal design of porous metal structure.

High-density genetic linkage maps play an important role in genome assembly, quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping, and marker-assisted selection. Pikeperch (Sander lucioperca) is a popular inland aquaculture species in Europe and Asia, but the genetic improvement of this species is still in its infancy. In this study, genomic DNA extracted from two pikeperch parents and 150 F1 offspring was subjected to high-throughput sequencing and specific length amplified fragment (SLAF) library construction. In total, 436.58 M reads (87.28 G data) were acquired, with average sequencing depths of 100.16-fold for the parents and 19.51-fold for each F1 offspring. A total of 237,687 high-quality SLAFs were detected, 34,774 of which were polymorphic and used for linkage map construction. The final merged linkage map consisted of 8159 SLAFs in 24 linkage groups (LGs) and spanned 3421.81 cM, with an average inter-marker distance of 0.46 cM. Based on this high-density genetic linkage map, 21 QTLs were identified for eight growth-related traits: total length, body weight, body length, head length, body height, body thickness, body girth, and slaughter weight. Three QTLs for each trait, including slaughter weight, body girth, body weight, and body thickness, were detected on LG6 or LG16. Moreover, five QTLs for body length were detected on LG6, LG9, and LG18. QTLs for total length, body height, and head length were detected on LG6. The linkage map and QTLs for growth-related traits identified in this study should be useful for improving pikeperch marker-assisted selection in the future.

Pikeperch (Sander lucioperca) is an economically important cool-water fish. In recent years, its cultivation has become threatened by higher temperatures in summer. We previously investigated the effects of heat stress on pikeperch liver under different temperatures, but the molecular mechanism of the heat-stress response is still unknown. This study applied consistent heat stress (29 °C, 0–48 h) to pikeperch juveniles, and a transcriptomic profile of pikeperch liver under heat stress (29 °C, 0 h) was performed by RNA-Seq. The antioxidant status, changes in liver histology, and antioxidant gene expression at different time points were examined. We identified 403 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), many of which were enriched in KEGG pathways, including protein processing in endoplasmic reticulum (ER), insulin signaling, and immune-related pathways. Among these, the most significant heat-stress-related pathway was protein processing in ER, indicating that this pathway is critical for the heat-stress response. After consistent heat stress at 29 °C, the total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), the activities of total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD) and catalase (CAT), and the mRNA expression of manganese SOD (Mn-SOD), CAT, and glutathione peroxidase 1 and 7 (GPx1 and GPx7) in the treated groups showed the same trend of first increasing and then decreasing. Levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) content did not show significant differences between samples at 0 h and 3 h, but significantly increased by 6 h, and thereafter decreased. The liver tissue was normal at 0 h (29 °C); however, it suffered histological damage with increased duration of the heat stress. Above all, heat stress at 29 °C seemed to cause oxidative damage and dysfunction in pikeperch liver between 3 h and 48 h. The present results indicate that pikeperch have the capacity to defend against heat stress and maintain relative balance of oxidation-reduction reactions mainly through activating the antioxidant system, protein processing in ER, the insulin-signaling pathway, and immune-related pathways.

Implant defects are difficult to discover because they are not quantified easily and not like bridge or open physical defects to find them by standard FA’s instruments We can get electrical proof but hard to prove the relationship with implant defects. Here we highlight a phenomenon by higher electron beam accelerating voltage of SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), through the different penetration depth of electrical charges in silicon; we can observe the variation of contrast images at abnormal area of SRAM to verify possible implant defects.

Pikeperch Sander lucioperca is a cool-water fish considered to be a potential aquaculture species. At present, extreme temperature conditions in summer affect the growth and survival of pikeperch cultured in ponds, indicating that the effects of heat stress on pikeperch merits research attention. In this study, pikeperch were heat stressed at 29 °C for up to 48 h. Fish were sampled at different time periods, and changes in gills histopathology and oxidative stress status were determined. The gill transcriptome under heat stress and significantly differentially expressed genes were also analyzed. qPCR was used to detect the expression of antioxidant-related genes and Hsp member family genes in gills of fish subjected to different durations of heat stress. The degree of gill damage increased with prolongation of the heat stress. The activities of total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), catalase (CAT) and glutathione reductase (GR) and the malondialdehyde (MDA) content in the gills changed significantly in response to continued heat stress. The expression of 252 genes changed significantly under heat stress: 191 genes were up-regulated and 61 genes were down-regulated. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis showed that multiple pathways were involved in the heat-stress response of the pikeperch but mostly involved lipid metabolism (six pathways), followed by amino acid metabolism (four pathways), carbohydrate metabolism (three pathways), and folding, sorting and degradation. The expression of antioxidant-related genes, including Cu Zn SOD, Mn SOD and CAT, and the heat shock protein (Hsp) member family genes increased during the early period of heat stress, but decreased in the later period. The overall results indicate that the gills of pikeperch are sensitive to heat stress and pikeperch actively responds to heat stress through regulating the antioxidant system, and the expression of Hsp genes and genes involved in energy metabolism. This study improves our understanding of the effects of heat stress on pikeperch, and reveals the mechanism of the heat-stress response in this species.

A series of (Sr1−z, Caz)(Al1−y, By)2O4:xEu2+ phosphors were synthesized by the sol–gel process and were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and photoluminescence (PL) excitation and emission spectra. The experiment results revealed that the highest intensity of Sr(Al1.98, B0.02)O4:Eu2+ phosphor with pure monoclinic SrAl2O4 was achieved by annealing at the temperature of 1200 °C and the Eu2+ content of 8 mol%. However, when the post-treatment temperature for Sr(Al1.98, B0.02)O4: Eu2+ was over 1200 °C, the Sr4Al14O25 phase appeared as a minor phase, inducing small blue-shift in the emission peak (520–509 nm). Doping higher content of B3+ (y = 0.02–0.40) into SrAl2O4:Eu2+ at 1200 °C resulted in the transformation of phase from SrAl2O4 to Sr4Al14O25 as well as to SrB2Al2O7, which made the emission intensity enhance and the emission shift to a much shorter wavelength region (λp = 467 nm). It was found that, instead of purely using Sr atoms, Ca atoms with content of 20–40% could induce the crystal structure of (Sr1−z, Caz)(Al1−y, By)2O4:xEu2+, which led to SrAl2O4 from monoclinic to hexagonal phase. As a result, SrAl2O4 solid solution was obtained and then SrAl2O4:Eu2+ to emit 518 nm green light. At higher Ca content (z > 40%), a new CaAl2O4 solid solution was formed and a blue emission of CaAl2O4:Eu2+ was obtained.
