The implementation of an urban growth boundary (UGB) can effectively control urban sprawl and promote efficient land use, which is crucial for future urban development. However, most of existing studies overlook the reuse of existing idle and inefficient land within the city in the delineation of UGBs. With China’s urban construction shifting from incremental development to stock development, this study focuses on Wuhan and presents a set of technical approaches for delineating UGBs with a stock development orientation. First, a built-up area composite index (POI&ISA) is constructed based on point of interest (POI) kernel density analysis and impervious surface index extraction to evaluate constructive levels in 2010 and 2020 and identify the urban vitality zone. Then, we combine the current land use status and control policies to divide the urban spatial development potential into five categories: urban vitality land, urban non-vitality land, other vitality land, other non-vitality land, and restricted development land. Finally, the PLUS model is applied in the analysis of the driving forces of land use change in Wuhan, simulating the UGBs in three stages of incremental development (2020–2030), incremental and stock development (2030–2040), and stock development (2040–2050). Finally, the PLUS model simulation projects the UGB areas to be 436.436 km2, 474.617 km2, and 520.396 km2 for the years 2030, 2040, and 2050, respectively. The predicted timespan of urban development extends up to 30 years, serving as a reliable reference for Wuhan’s long-term and near-term planning.

Poplar buds are characterized by a high content of phenolic compounds, which exhibit a broad spectrum of biological activities. However, the relationship between Chinese propolis and poplar buds based on their antioxidant capacities and underlying mechanisms remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the antioxidant properties of poplar bud (Populus) extract (PBE) and Chinese propolis (CP) and to elucidate the mechanisms behind their activity. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis revealed that both PBE and CP contain a significant amount of phenolic acids and flavonoids. 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2′-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), and ferric-reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assays demonstrated that PBE and CP possess excellent antioxidant activity. Furthermore, administration of PBE and CP improved the survival rate of C. elegans under oxidative stress. They also decreased the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde (MDA), while enhancing the activity of antioxidant enzymes (SOD, CAT). PBE and CP intervention upregulated the expression of key genes daf-16, sod-3, hsp-16.2, and skn-1 in nematodes. This suggests that the antioxidant activity of PBE and CP is dependent on daf-16 and skn-1 signaling pathways. In conclusion, poplar bud extracts ha have the potential to become a substitute for propolis and a potential therapeutic agent for treating diseases associated with oxidative damage.

Abstract Background Low temperatures are known to limit the growth and geographical distribution of poplars. Although some transcriptomic studies have been conducted to explore the response of poplar leaves to cold stress, only a few have comprehensively analyzed the effects of low temperature on the transcriptome of poplars and identified genes related to cold stress response and repair of freeze–thaw injury. Results We exposed the Euramerican poplar Zhongliao1 to low temperatures; after stems were exposed to − 40℃, 4℃, and 20℃, the mixture of phloem and cambium was collected for transcriptome sequencing and bioinformatics analysis. A total of 29,060 genes were detected, including 28,739 known genes and 321 novel genes. Several differentially expressed genes (n = 36) were found to be involved in the Ca2+ signaling pathway, starch–sucrose metabolism pathway, abscisic acid signaling pathway, and DNA repair. They were functionally annotated; glucan endo-1,3-beta-glucosidase and UDP-glucuronosyltransferase genes, for instance, showed a close relationship with cold resistance. The expression of 11 differentially expressed genes was verified by qRT-PCR; RNA-Seq and qRT-PCR data were found to be consistent, which validated the robustness of our RNA-Seq findings. Finally, multiple sequence alignment and evolutionary analysis were performed, the results of which suggested a close association between several novel genes and cold resistance in Zhongliao1. Conclusion We believe that the cold resistance and freeze–thaw injury repair genes identified in this study are of great significance for cold tolerance breeding.

Rambutan is a tropical tree and its fruit has several favorable characteristics. To understand how the color of the rambutan fruit peel develops, the transcriptome, flavonoid metabolome, and carotenoid metabolome data of two rambutan cultivars, ‘BY2’ and ‘BY7’, which show yellow and red peels at maturity, respectively, were comprehensively analyzed at three developmental stages. We identified 26 carotenoid components and 53 flavonoid components in these cultivars. Anthocyanins were the main component contributing to the red color of ‘BY7’ after reaching ripeness. The carotenoid content decreased sharply as the fruit matured. Hence, we speculated that flavonols were the main contributors to the yellow color of the ‘BY2’ peel. In total, 6805 differentially expressed genes were screened by transcriptome analysis; the majority of them were enriched in metabolic pathways and the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis results revealed that in addition to MYB and bHLH, ERF, WRKY, MYB-related, and C3H were the main potential transcription factors regulating the color of the rambutan peel. In addition, we also identified 12 structural genes associated with flavonoid biosynthesis. The research findings shed light on the molecular mechanisms of color acquisition in rambutan fruit peels, laying the foundation for the quality control of rambutan and the cultivation of differently colored cultivars of rambutan.

Li-rich manganese-based (LRM) cathode materials are known as one of the most promising cathode materials for new-generation lithium-ion batteries. At present, exploring the complex voltage decay mechanism of LRM is the main task to promote its commercialization. Herein, the structural evolution and transition metal valence state change of LRM during different reaction stages under different temperatures are discussed, and the mechanism of voltage decay is finally determined based on the electrochemical properties. The results show the evolution of irreversible thermodynamic structure is the fundamental cause leading to voltage decay of LRM cathode, and it worsens with increasing temperature. The early activation of inert Mn, multiple phase transitions, migration of transition metals to the surface, anisotropy of internal valence states caused by partial valence failure and severe interfacial reactions are all strong proofs of the above views. In summary, the reason for voltage decay is revealed by investigating the sensitivity of the LRM cathode materials to temperature. This work not only provides strong evidence for the mechanism of the voltage decay, but also points out the direction to modification design for achieving future commercialization of LRM cathode materials.

In order to solve the problem of robot welding path planning for welding work at the ball pipe joints，taking the UR5 welding robot as a reference，the models of ball pipe intersection curve is established and the parameter equation of the curve is derived，the D-H coordinate system is established，the forward and reverse directions are solved respectively，by using the Matlab and Adams joint simulation，the trajectory planned path of end effector and the angular velocity and angular acceleration time change curve of each joint are obtained. The test shows that the UR5 welding robot model is correct and reasonable，has good kinematics performance，and has no sudden changes in the posture during the welding process. It also verifies the rationality and reliability of the trajectory planning operation space of the intersecting welding seam. It provides a verification method for welding operations in a complex working environment. The verification method can provide theoretical support for further research on prototype control.

Certain plant genotypes can achieve optimal growth under appropriate environmental conditions. Under high planting density conditions, plants undergo competition for uptake and utilization of light and nutrients. However, the relationship between whole-genome expression patterns and the planting density in perennial woody plants remains unknown. In this study, whole-genome RNA sequencing of poplar (Populus × euramericana) was carried out at three different sampling heights to determine gene expression patterns under high (HD) and low (LD) planting densities. As a result, 4,004 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were detected between HD and LD, of which 2,300, 701, and 1,003 were detected at the three positions, upper, middle and bottom, respectively. Function annotation results further revealed that a large number of the DEGs were involved in distinct biological functions. There were significant changes in the expression of metabolism-related and stimulus-related genes in response to planting density. There were 37 DEGs that were found at all three positions and were subsequently screened. Several DEGs related to plant light responses and photosynthesis were observed at different positions. Meanwhile, numbers of genes related to auxin/indole-3-acetic acid, and carbon and nitrogen metabolism were also revealed, displaying overall trends of upregulation under HD. These findings provide a basis for identifying candidate genes related to planting density and could increase our molecular understanding of the effect of planting density on gene expression.
