This study examined the relationships between job-related factors and overall physical activity (PA), including its subdivisions: leisure-time PA, transportation PA, and work-related PA. Additionally, this study investigated the associations between exercise intentions and different types of PA. A cross-sectional design was employed, utilizing a questionnaire to collect data on participants' demographics, job-related characteristics, exercise intentions, and levels of PA. A total of 400 full-time workers voluntarily participated in this study. The findings identified women, white-collar workers, those with longer working hours, and individuals with low exercise intentions as high-risk groups for insufficient overall PA in multiple linear regression analysis. After controlling for covariates, occupation was found to be associated with both overall PA (β = 0.146) and work-related PA (β = 0.236). Shift workers exhibited higher levels of work-related PA (β = 0.234). Furthermore, exercise intentions showed associations with overall PA (β = 0.243), leisure-time PA (β = 0.523), and transportation PA (β = 0.176) but did not demonstrate a significant relationship with work-related PA. This study highlights the importance of implementing comprehensive approaches in workplace health promotion programs aimed at enhancing various types of PA. Strategies should focus on improving exercise intentions to boost leisure-time and transportation PA, while work-related PA requires tailored interventions based on job-specific factors. In public discourse, there has been hostile communication between Asian and Black communities in the US. This article proposes co-racialization as a lens in examining Asian and Black Americans' relationality. Co-racialization occurs in and across space and time, in that individuals and groups with various and uneven resources shape their views of themselves and their counterparts. Seventy-two Asian Americans and Black Americans were interviewed. Through the concepts of "racial project" and "hydraulic and nanoracism," I trace the ways in which these co-racializations are mediated. Themes of their "home and neighborhood as space of mediation;" "segregated learning institutions with hydraulic racism mediated by pop culture;" and "perpetual tensions and nanoracism in the 'fuzzy zones'" emerged. This article calls for nanohealing —an intentionally sustained relationality-building rooted in on-the-ground spaces of interactions and mediation—as an imperative part of co-racialization to resist the thin relationality between racial minorities. This cross-cultural discourse analysis examines the construction of environmental issues on Greenpeace web pages in China, Japan and Germany. To uncover the semantic representation of environmental activism on these sites, the authors sought to identify discursive homogeneity and divergence and to bring to light embedded cultural assumptions. The sites were examined between January and July 2003 to the fifth level. Multiple readings considered figures of style, lexical choices and lexical style, visual aspects, and topic and themes. The conclusion discusses the adeptness of localising and regionalising Greenpeace discourses but also points to a visible fragmentisation of environmental discourses as well as inherent inabilities to transcend highly localised understandings of the role of humans in nature. Most significantly, the study illustrates the discursive weight of implicit social and natural hierarchies.

Asian Americans occupy an ambivalent position in the U.S. racial hierarchy. An organization called Students for Fair Admissions prepared a lawsuit against the admission process in Harvard University. In October 2019, it was concluded that although "not perfect," Harvard's policies did not intentionally discriminate against Asian Americans. I analyzed comments about the verdict in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal, and found that Asian Americans were afforded low relatability as Americans. I further propose that concepts of "injured privilege" and "misplaced ressentiment" could move conversations about Asian Americans' experiences beyond the "model minority" discourse. ABSTRACT Biofilms are the most ubiquitous and resilient form of microbial life on earth. One most important feature of a biofilm is the presence of a self-produced matrix, which creates highly heterogeneous and dynamic microenvironments within biofilms. Redox status in biofilm microenvironments plays a critical role in biofilm development and function. However, there is a lack of non-intrusive tools to quantify extracellular redox status of microenvironments within a biofilm matrix. In this study, using Shewanella oneidensis as a model organism, we demonstrated a novel approach to monitor extracellular redox status in biofilm microenvironments. Specifically, we displayed a redox sensitive fluorescence protein roGFP onto the cell surface of S. oneidensis by fusing it to the C-terminus of BpfA, a large surface protein, and used the surface displayed roGFP as a sensor to quantify the extracellular redox status in the matrix of S. oneidensis biofilms. The fusion of roGFP into BpfA has no negative impacts on cell growth and biofilm formation. Upon exposure to oxidizing agents such as H2O2, Ag+, and SeO32−, S. oneidensis BpfA-roGFP cells exhibited a characteristic fluorescence of roGFP. Proteinase treatment assay and super-resolution structured illumination microscopy confirmed the surface localization of BpfA-roGFP. We further used the surface displayed roGFP monitored the extracellular redox status in the matrix at different depths of a biofilm exposed to H2O2. This study provides a novel approach to non-invasively monitor extracellular redox status in microenvironments within biofilms, which can be used to understand redox responses of biofilms to environmental perturbations. Emission spectra following the photolysisof iodomethanes (CHI3, CH2I2, CH3I, and CH2ICl) at 266 nm were recorded in a slowflow cell. In additionto emission from the electronically excited species including CH (A2Δ, B2Σ–, and C2Σ+), C2(d3Πg), and atomic iodine (4Po), a seriesof emission bands was observed in the 12 000–19 000cm–1region. The dominant structure of these emissionbands was verified as the I2B3Π+0,u–X1Σ+gemission at the 532 nm excitation, and the observed I2was formed from collisions between iodine atoms generated from theC–I bond dissociation in these iodomethanes. The I2emission spectra following the photolysis of CH2I2at different wavelengths were acquired, and the thresholdenergy for the first C–I bond cleavage was determined to be208 ± 1 kJ mol–1. We also obtained the emissionspectra of pure I2at several visible excitation wavelengthsfor comparison with those from the photolysis of iodomethanes, anda least-squares global fit of the observed I2emissionbands yields more accurate anharmonicity parameters for the vibrationalstructure in the I2B–X transition.
