Abstract Touch displays are ubiquitous in modern technologies. However, current protective methods for emerging flexible displays against static, scratches, bending, and smudge rely on multilayer materials that impede progress towards flexible, lightweight, and multifunctional designs. Developing a single coating layer integrating all these functions remains challenging yet highly anticipated. Herein, we introduce an organic–inorganic covalent–ionic hybrid network that leverages the reorganizing interaction between siloxanes (i.e., trifluoropropyl–funtionalized polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane and cyclotrisiloxane) and fluoride ions. This nanoscale organic–inorganic covalent–ionic hybridized crosslinked network, combined with a low surface energy trifluoropropyl group, offers a monolithic layer coating with excellent optical, antistatic, anti–smudge properties, flexibility, scratch resistance, and recyclability. Compared with existing protective materials, this all–in–one coating demonstrates comprehensive multifunctionality and closed–loop recyclability, making it ideal for future flexible displays and contributing to ecological sustainability in consumer electronics.

Different eukaryotic cell organelles (e.g., mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, lysosome) are involved in various cancer processes, by dominating specific cellular activities. Organelles cooperate, such as through contact points, in complex biological activities that help the cell regulate energy metabolism, signal transduction, and membrane dynamics, which influence survival process. Herein, we review the current studies of mechanisms by which mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, and lysosome are related to the three major malignant gynecological cancers, and their possible therapeutic interventions and drug targets. We also discuss the similarities and differences of independent organelle and organelle–organelle interactions, and their applications to the respective gynecological cancers; mitochondrial dynamics and energy metabolism, endoplasmic reticulum dysfunction, lysosomal regulation and autophagy, organelle interactions, and organelle regulatory mechanisms of cell death play crucial roles in cancer tumorigenesis, progression, and response to therapy. Finally, we discuss the value of organelle research, its current problems, and its future directions.

The main focus of this paper is on the relationship between the spectrum of generators and the regularity of the fractional resolvent family. We will give a counter-example to show that the point-spectral mapping theorem is not valid for $ \{S_{\alpha}(t)\} $ if $ \alpha \neq 1 $; and we show that if $ \{S_{\alpha}(t)\} $ is stable, then we can determine the decay rate by $ \sigma(A) $ and some examples are given; we also prove that $ S_{\alpha}(t)x $ has a continuous derivative of order $ \alpha\beta > 0 $ if and only if $ x \in D(I-A)^{\beta} $. The main method we used here is the resolution of identity corresponding to a normal operator $ A $ and spectral measure integral.

Background: Polygoni Cuspidati Rhizoma et Radix (PCRR; the root and rhizome of Polygonum cuspidatum Sieb. et Zucc) has long been used to treat atherosclerosis, gastrointestinal disorders, and liver disease. However, the underlying mechanism of PCRR against liver steatosis remains unclear. Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the potential therapeutic targets and molecular mechanisms of PCRR in improving liver steatosis. Methods: A high-fat diet (HFD)-induced simple steatosis model in rats was used to evaluate the therapeutic effect of polyphenol-rich water extract from PCRR. Its underlying mechanisms were revealed using untargeted mass spectrometry-based serum metabolomics, hepatic lipidomic profiling approaches, qPCR, and Western blotting assays. Results: Our study showed that PCRR-treated rats displayed significant reduction of serum TC and LDL-C, hepatic TG, TC levels, and total liver lipid content under a HFD feeding condition. Untargeted metabolomics showed that PCRR significantly restored the overall levels of nine lipid classes in liver tissues and elevated the bile acid levels in the serum samples. We demonstrated that PCRR prevented HFD-induced hepatic steatosis by regulating the expressions of TG metabolism proteins, including p-AMPK, p-ACC, PPARα, and FAS, as well as the expressions of TC metabolism proteins, including p-AMPK, LDLR, and CYP7A1. Moreover, resveratrol and/or polydatin­-derived metabolites were solely detected in the serum samples of the PCRR-treated group, indicating these microbial transformed metabolites might partly contribute to the beneficial effects of PCRR. Conclusion: PCRR can be employed as a therapeutic agent to improve non-alcoholic fatty liver disease via regulating lipid metabolism.

Low-dielectric-constant (low-k) materials are an indispensable part of microprocessors as they can alleviate electronic crosstalk, charge build-up, and signal propagation delay. However, existing low-k materials usually have k values higher than 2 and inferior thermo-mechanical properties, which restrict the development of microelectronic devices. Although we have recently discovered that larger polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) are useful building blocks for fabricating advanced ultra-low-k materials, it remains to be seen whether a POSS cage and linker could be leveraged to tune the structure-property of the materials and create ultra-low-k materials with improved comprehensive properties. Herein, we propose a series of POSS-based hybrid materials (i.e., c-TnPBn and c-TnFn, n = 8, 10, and 12) that consist of distinct POSS cages and linkers. When the linker is kept identical, the gradual enlargement of the POSS cage enhances the porosity/free volume fraction of materials, resulting in quasi-linearly reduced k values for the resulting materials (k = 1.93 for c-T12PB12, 2.14 for c-T12F12). Meanwhile, the materials’ comprehensive properties can be significantly improved by increasing the POSS cage size or varying the linker’s length and type. As a result, ultra-low-k materials with good processability, low surface roughness (< 0.40 nm), excellent thermostability (> 480 °C), mechanical properties (elastic modulus > 2.5 GPa), and hydrophobicity have been obtained, and the low-k values can be maintained under high temperature (e.g., 300 °C) and wet condition. This work reveals the critical contribution of POSS cage size and linker to the structure and properties of POSS-based low-k materials and offers promising materials for the future of the microelectronic industry.

We consider the resolvent family of the following abstract Cauchy problem (1.1) with distributed order Caputo derivative, where A is a closed operator with dense domain and satisfies some further conditions. We first prove some stability results of distributed order resolvent family through the subordination principle. Next, we investigate the analyticity and decay estimate of the solution to (1.1) with operator A=λ>0, then we show that the resolvent family of Eq (1.1) can be written as a contour integral. If A is self-adjoint, then the resolvent family can also be represented by resolution of identity of A. And we give some examples as an application of our result.

The terrestrial cryosphere functions to provide critical freshwater and serve societies and ecosystems, driving nature's contributions to people (NCP). This becomes increasingly important for the oasis areas in Northwest China. The cryospheric meltwater is in demand to support the economy and reduce poverty, accompanied by growing requirements to protect the environment. We intend to investigate the contributions of cryospheric meltwater by analyzing the spatial functions and services pertinent to provisioning meltwater in China. Based on the currently available datasets during the 2000s of glaciers, snow cover, and permafrost, spatial clustering was utilized to analyze the contributions at the third-level basin scale. Further assessment is carried out for the exposure of primary, secondary, and tertiary industrial sectors to cryospheric meltwater, which reflects the spatiality of potential services that cryospheric meltwater may provide. In results, we spatially cluster the contribution of cryospheric meltwater into six function zones and twenty-seven sub-zones, in association with the degree of their reliance on glaciers, snow cover, and permafrost. Considering the sector's exposure, we further spatially cluster the contribution areas into eleven service zones concerning the potential service of cryospheric meltwater. Generally, the cryosphere contributes approximately 8.3% of the total water resource in China, with function zones mainly distributed in northeastern China, Qinghai−Tibet Plateau (QTP), and other arid regions of Northwest China with various significance. The overall contribution ratios of the glacier, snow cover, and permafrost to cryospheric meltwater are about 35.6%, 56.5%, and 7.9%, respectively. By looking into the service zones, the cryospheric meltwater mainly contributes to the primary industry in Northwest China and QTP, even though it has less significant effects on all other industrial sectors, while the services to the ecosystem are mainly located in QTP and high mountain regions. The results offer an overarching view on the contributions of cryospheric meltwater in China.

Society could sustain the impact of climate change by adapting to the change and mitigating risks from adverse effects of increasing changes, so that it can continue maintaining its prospect and improving wellbeing. Nevertheless, climate change is more or less affecting society's functions at different scales, including both individuals and communities. In this review, we discuss the relationship between society and climate change in China from the aspects of the needs at different socioeconomic developing stages. The relationship as well as the current spatial pattern and future risks of the climate change impacts on societies are summarized. The complexity of social and climatic systems leads to the spatial heterogeneity of climate impacts and risks in China. To more effectively leverage increasing knowledge about the past, we advocate greater cross-disciplinary collaboration between climate adaption, poverty alleviation and Nature-based Solutions (Nbs). That could provide decision makers with more comprehensive train of thoughts for climate policy making.

Mobile social services are an indispensable part of our daily lives. These services are also favored by criminals because it is difficult to retrieve communication data from them. In the past, communication data provided by telecommunication carriers usually indicated when, from where, and with whom the communication occurred. Presently, it is difficult for law enforcement agencies and public security departments to obtain information regarding mobile social services. For this reason, these departments have requested Internet access service providers to store data that can be used to identify the user of a mobile social service at any given time. However, many non-government and civil society organizations claim that these practices violate privacy rights; hence, they strongly oppose the retention of the subscribers' data by the government. Currently, the European Union law does not allow “general and indiscriminate retention of traffic data and location data,” except for “targeted” use against “serious crimes.” Under this premise, ensuring the necessary data retention, while reducing the privacy violations and maintaining public security is a challenging task. In this study, a novel identification framework based on different types and action characteristics of mobile social services is proposed. Based on this framework, government agencies do not need to retain general and indiscriminate traffic data, but only data that aid in identification. Thus, this framework substantially reduces the volume of potential targets and improves the probability of correct target identification, ensuring a balance between privacy and public security.

Introduction: Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is associated with weather change. The study aimed to investigate if weather change was among the risk factors of coronary artery disease to influence AMI occurrence in Taiwan and to generate a model to predict the probabilities of AMI in specific weather and clinical conditions.Method: This observational study utilized the National Health Insurance Research Database and daily weather reports from Taiwan Central Weather Bureau to evaluate the discharge records of patients diagnosed with AMI from various hospitals in Taiwan between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2011. Generalized additive models (GAMs) were used to estimate the effective parameters on the trend of the AMI incidence rate with respect to the weather and health factors in the time-series data and to build a model for predicting AMI probabilities.Results: A total of 40,328 discharges were listed. The minimum temperature, maximum wind speed, and antiplatelet therapy were negatively related to the daily AMI incidence; however, a drop of 1° when the air temperature was below 15°C was associated with an increase of 1.6% of AMI incidence. By using the meaningful parameters including medical and weather factors, an estimated GAM was built. The model showed an adequate correlation in both internal and external validation.Conclusion: An increase in AMI occurrence in colder weather has been evidenced in the study, but the influence of wind speed remains uncertain. Our analysis demonstrated that the novel GAM model can predict daily onset rates of AMI in specific weather conditions.

Feeding is essential for animal survival and reproduction and is regulated by both internal states and external stimuli. However, little is known about how internal states influence the perception of external sensory cues that regulate feeding behavior. Here, we investigated the neuronal and molecular mechanisms behind nutritional state-mediated regulation of gustatory perception in control of feeding behavior in the brown planthopper and Drosophila. We found that feeding increases the expression of the cholecystokinin-like peptide, sulfakinin (SK), and the activity of a set of SK-expressing neurons. Starvation elevates the transcription of the sugar receptor Gr64f and SK negatively regulates the expression of Gr64f in both insects. Interestingly, we found that one of the two known SK receptors, CCKLR-17D3, is expressed by some of Gr64f-expressing neurons in the proboscis and proleg tarsi. Thus, we have identified SK as a neuropeptide signal in a neuronal circuitry that responds to food intake, and regulates feeding behavior by diminishing gustatory receptor gene expression and activity of sweet sensing GRNs. Our findings demonstrate one nutritional state-dependent pathway that modulates sweet perception and thereby feeding behavior, but our experiments cannot exclude further parallel pathways. Importantly, we show that the underlying mechanisms are conserved in the two distantly related insect species.

AIM: To investigate the inflammatory amplification effect of high-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) in Aspergillus fumigatus (A. fumigatus) keratitis and the relationship between lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor 1 (LOX-1) and HMGB1 in keratitis immune responses. METHODS: Phosphate buffer saline (PBS), and Boxb were injected into BALB/c mice subconjunctivally before the corneas were infected with A. fumigatus. RAW264.7 macrophages and neutrophils were pretreated with PBS and Boxb to determine the HMGB1 inflammatory amplification effects. Abdominal cavity extracted macrophages were pretreated with Boxb and Poly (I) (a LOX-1 inhibitor) before A. fumigatus hyphae stimulation to prove the the relationship between the two molecules. LOX-1, interleukin-1β (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), macrophage inflammatory protein-2 (MIP-2) and IL-10 were assessed by polymerase chain reaction and Western blot. RESULTS: Pretreatment with Boxb exacerbated corneal inflammation. In macrophages and neutrophils, A. fumigatus induced LOX-1, IL-1β, TNF-α and MIP-2 expression in Boxb group was higher than those in PBS group. Poly (I) treatments before infection alleviated the proinflammatory effects of Boxb in abdominal cavity extracted macrophages. Pretreatment with Boxb did not influence Dectin-1 mRNA levels in macrophages and neutrophils. CONCLUSION: In fungal keratitis, HMGB1 is a proinflammatory factor in the first line of immune response. HMGB1 mainly stimulates neutrophils and macrophages to produce inflammatory cytokines and chemokines during the immune response. LOX-1 participates in HMGB1 induced inflammatory exacerbation in A. fumigatus keratitis.

AIM: To determine the disparate expression of autophagy in the Aspergillus fumigatus (A. fumigatus) keratitis between susceptible C57BL/6 mice and resistant BALB/c mice. METHODS: C57BL/6 and BALB/c mice were used to establish fungal keratitis models. Disease severity and inflammatory response were observed by slit lamp microscopy in A. fumigatus-infected corneas of C57BL/6 and BALB/c mice at 1, 3 and 5d. Hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) staining was used to detect pathological changes of corneas. The expression of autophagy-related proteins Beclin-1, LC3, SQSTM1/p62, and LAMP-1 was assessed by Western blot in C57BL/6 and BALB/c mice at 1, 3 and 5d post infection (p.i.). Immunofluorescent staining was used to test the expression of LC3 in corneas after A. fumigatus infection. RESULTS: Keratitis severity was higher in C57BL/6 mice versus BALB/c mice at 1, 3 and 5d p.i. H&E staining showed that the number of inflammatory cells was larger and the severity of ulcer was higher in C57BL/6 mice than in BALB/c mice after stimulation with A. fumigatus. Higher expression of LAMP-1, Beclin-1, and LC3 was shown in C57BL/6 mice corneas than in BALB/c mice corneas at 1, 3 and 5d p.i., while the expression of p62 was lower in C57BL/6 mice. The fluorescence of LC3 was significantly increased in corneas of C57BL/6 mice compared with BALB/c mice after A. fumigatus infection. CONCLUSION: The expression of autophagy is higher in corneas of C57BL/6 mice than in BALB/c mice after A. fumigatus infection. Autophagy may be positively correlated with keratitis severity and pathological changes.

Transmembrane channel-like (TMC) genes encode a family of evolutionarily conserved membrane proteins. Mutations in the TMC1 and TMC2 cause deafness in humans and mice. However, their functions in insects are is still not well known. Here we cloned three tmc genes, Nltmc3, Nltmc5, and Nltmc7 from brown planthoppers. The predicted amino acid sequences showed high identity with other species homologs and have the characteristic eight or nine transmembrane domains and TMC domain architecture. We detected these three genes in all developmental stages and examined tissues. Interestingly, we found Nltmc3 was highly expressed in the female reproductive organ especially in the oviduct. RNAi-mediated silencing of Nltmc3 substantially decreased the egg-laying number and impaired ovary development. Our results indicate that Nltmc3 has an essential role in the ovary development of brown planthoppers.

Objective We aimed to summarize the clinical characteristics of floating thrombus in the inferior vena cava (IVC). Methods From January 2014 to June 2019, four patients with floating thrombus in the IVC were admitted to our hospital and underwent intracavitary therapy. Diagnosis, therapy, and clinical characteristics of floating thrombus were summarized. Results Three patients presented with pulmonary embolism. Three of the patients had a floating thrombus discovered by inferior venacavography and one was found by contrast-enhanced computed tomography. Two patients had deep venous thrombosis in the lower extremities. One patient had a double IVC, one had left iliac vein compression syndrome, and one had right renal phlebothrombosis. The four patients underwent implantation of a temporary IVC filter and were treated with anti-coagulation, debulking, and thrombolysis. All four patients achieved satisfactory results. Conclusions Floating thrombus in the IVC is often caused by spread of branch vein thrombosis, and is more likely to lead to pulmonary embolism. Anti-coagulant therapy and debulking under the protection of filters can achieve satisfactory clinical results.

Mimicking enzyme function and improving upon it is a challenge facing nanotechnology. Here the authors design a DNA nanostructure that catalyzes the transport of lipids between bilayers at a rate three orders of magnitude higher than biological enzymes.

There has been an ongoing and heated public policy debate on the appropriate role of and limitations to government hacking in maintaining a proper balance of national security and privacy. Asserting that they are compelled to use government hacking tools to protect their countries and populations, law enforcement and government agencies are increasingly strident in expressing the importance of accessing and intercepting encrypted communication data. However, many non-governmental and civil society organizations and activists strongly oppose government hacking because they consider its methods and techniques are extremely invasive and potentially compromising to the fundamental right of privacy. They are also concerned that the implementation of hacking techniques or similar methods would weaken encryption standards and place the security of the Internet at risk. This paper presents an overview of the current status of government hacking and discusses challenges to lawful interception (LI) technology and rules. The current state of LI and government hacking in five countries is reviewed, and capability is assessed in terms of several widely publicized events, in an effort to analyze the limitations of current solutions. Finally, the open challenges to and future direction of government hacking are highlighted.

This work demonstrates a self-powered and broadband photodetector using a heterojunction formed by camphor-based chemical vaper deposition (CVD) bilayer graphene on p-Si substrates. Here, graphene/p-Si heterostructures and graphene layers serve as ultra-shallow junctions for UV absorption and zero bandgap junction materials (2) Raman mapping, a low-defect, >95% coverage bilayer and high-uniformity graphene were successfully obtained by camphor-based CVD processes. Furthermore, the carrier mobility of the camphor-based CVD bilayer graphene at room temperature is 1.8 × 103 cm2/V·s. Due to the incorporation of camphor-based CVD graphene, the graphene/p-Si Schottky junctions show a good rectification property (rectification ratio of ~110 at ± 2 V) and good performance as a self-powered (under zero bias) photodetector from UV to LWNIR. The photocurrent to dark current ratio (PDCR) value is up to 230 at 0 V under white light illumination, and the detectivity (D*) is 8 × 1012 cmHz1/2/W at 560 nm. Furthermore, the photodetector (PD) response/decay time (i.e., rise/fall time) is ~118/120 μs. These results support the camphor-based CVD bilayer graphene/Si Schottky PDs for use in self-powered and ultra-broadband light detection in the future.

Poly(glycerol sebacate) (PGS) is a biocompatible, biodegradable elastomer that has been shown promise as a scaffolding material for tissue engineering; it is still challenging, however, to produce anisotropic scaffolds by using a thermoset polymer, such as PGS. Previously, we have used aligned sacrificial poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) fibers to help produce an anisotropic PGS membrane; a composite membrane, formed by embedding aligned PVA fibers in PGS prepolymer, was subjected to curing and subsequent PVA removal, resulting in aligned grooves and cylindrical pores on the surface of and within the membrane, respectively. PVA, however, appeared to react with PGS during its curing, altering the mechanical characteristics of PGS. In this study, aligned sacrificial fibers made of polylactide (PLA) were used instead. Specifically, PLA was blend-electrospun with polyethylene oxide to increase the sacrificial fiber diameter, which in turn increased the size of the grooves and cylindrical pores. The resultant PGS membrane was shown to be in vitro cyto-compatible and mechanically anisotropic. The membrane’s Young’s modulus was 1−2 MPa, similar to many soft tissues. In particular, the microscale grooves on the membrane surface were found to be capable of directing cell alignment. Finally, based on the same approach, we fabricated a biomimetic, anisotropic, PGS tubular scaffold. The compliance of the tubular scaffold was comparable to native arteries and in the range of 2% to 8% per 100 mmHg, depending on the orientations of the sacrificial fibers. The anisotropic PGS tubular scaffolds can potentially be used in vascular tissue engineering.

OBJECTIVES:This study aims to investigate the impact of newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation (AF) on future major adverse cardiac events (MACE). AF is the most common form of cardiac arrhythmia and is associated with several other cardiovascular (CV) events. Little is known about whether newly diagnosed AF is an independent factor for future MACE, especially in patients without such a history. METHODS AND RESULTS:We evaluated data from the National Health Insurance Research Database, which represented a retrospective cohort of 713,288 adults in Taiwan from 2006 to 2010. Individuals with previous MACE were excluded. Newly diagnosed AF patients were identified by assigning International Classification of Diseases codes. Propensity score matching adjusted for gender, age, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia. Cox proportional hazard models estimated future MACE ratios. We compared a total of 3,737 patients with newly diagnosed AF and 704,225 patients without. After matching, there was no difference in baseline demographic characteristics in patients across newly diagnosed AF and non-AF groups. The result showed that newly diagnosed AF in multivariate analysis were associated with increased incidents of MACE (hazard ratio: 3.11-3.51 in different models) and mortality. Newly diagnosed AF without other CV risk factors had 8.45 times the risk of developing future MACE than healthy adults. The more associated CV risk factors in addition to AF, the increased rate of future CV events. CONCLUSIONS:Newly diagnosed AF is an independent factor that leads to future CV events after gender, age, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia matching. AF is associated with a higher mortality rate.

The DNA bricks method exploits self-assembly of short DNA fragments to produce custom three-dimensional objects with subnanometer precision. In contrast to DNA origami, the DNA brick method permits a variety of different structures to be realized using the same library of DNA strands. As a consequence of their design, however, assembled DNA brick structures have fewer interhelical connections in comparison to equivalent DNA origami structures. Although the overall shape of the DNA brick objects has been characterized and found to conform to the features of the target designs, the microscopic properties of DNA brick objects remain yet to be determined. Here, we use the all-atom molecular dynamics method to directly compare the structure, mechanical properties and ionic conductivity of DNA brick and DNA origami structures different only by internal connectivity of their consistituent DNA strands. In comparison to equivalent DNA origami structures, the DNA brick structures are found to be less rigid and less dense and have a larger cross-section area normal to the DNA helix direction. At the microscopic level, the junction in the DNA brick structures are found to be right-handed, similar to the structure of individual Holliday junctions (HJ) in solution, which contrasts with the left-handed structure of HJ in DNA origami. Subject to external electric field, a DNA brick plate is more leaky to ions than an equivalent DNA origami plate because of its lower density and larger cross-section area. Overall, our results indicate that the structures produced by the DNA brick method are fairly similar in their overall appearance to those created by the DNA origami method but are more compliant when subject to external forces, which likely is a consequence of their single crossover design.

In the title complex, [Pd(C20H15N4O)2], the PdII atom is tetracoordinated by two N atoms and two O atoms from two bidentate imine–benzotriazole phenolate ligands, forming a square-planar environment. The asymmetric unit contains two half-molecules in both of which the PdII atom lies on a centre of symmetry. The average distances between the PdII atom and the coordinated O and N atoms are 1.9831 (12) and 2.012 (2) Å, respectively.

In the title compound, C20H16N4O, the non-H atoms of the benzotriazole ring system and those of the methylphenol group are essentially coplanar, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.004 (2) Å. The mean plane of these atoms forms a dihedral angle of 60.9 (2)° with the phenyl ring. There is an intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bond between the phenol and benzotriazole groups.

In the title complex, [Cu(C17H13N2O)2], the CuII atom is tetracoordinated by two N atoms and two O atoms from two bidentate 1-[(E)-o-tolyldiazenyl]-2-naphtholate ligands, forming a slightly distorted square-planar environment. In the title compound, C14H11N3O2, the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the benzotriazole ring system and the benzene ring of the salicylaldehyde group is 2.4 (2)°. There is an intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bond which may influence the molecular conformation.

The title complex, [Al2(CH3)4(C15H11O)2], is dimeric bridged through the O atoms of the 9-anthracenemethanolate anions. Each Al atom is tetracoordinated by two bridging O atoms from two different 9-anthracenemethanolate ligands and by two C atoms from two methyl groups, forming a distorted tetrahedral environment. The average Al—O bond distance in the Al2O2 core is 1.845 Å.

The title complex, [Al2(CH3)4(C13H10N3O)2], is dimeric, bridged through the O atoms of the phenolate anions. The asymmetric unit contains one half of the molecule and there is a crystallographic inversion centre in this molecule. Each Al atom is pentacoordinated by one N atom and two bridging O atoms of two N,O-bidentate benzotriazolylphenolate ligands and by two C atoms from two methyl groups, forming a distorted trigonal–bipyramidal environment.

This action research study has two aims: (i) to develop a wearable virtual reality language-learning platform for English for specific purposes and (ii) to examine student learning effectiveness and the relationship between self-efficacy and behavioral intention. The participants are 131 university students in Taiwan. A model of wearable virtual reality language-learning based on structural equation modeling is built. A path analysis indicates that self-efficacy directly influences students' perceptions of ease of use of the wearable virtual reality technology and indirectly influences perceived usefulness, attitude, and behavioral intention. Student self-efficacy is slightly above the moderate level. Gender and English proficiency have an effect on student self-efficacy and behavioral intention, whereas students' online and virtual reality learning experiences have no significant effect on these variables. This new environment is shown to facilitate student learning: the pretest and posttest results indicate improvements in lexical and semantic knowledge, reading comprehension, and syntax. Adverse cardiac outcomes in COVID-19 patients, particularly those with preexisting cardiac disease, motivate the development of human cell-based organ-on-a-chip models to recapitulate cardiac injury and dysfunction and for screening of cardioprotective therapeutics. Here, we developed a heart-on-a-chip model to study the pathogenesis of SARS-CoV-2 in healthy myocardium established from human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cardiomyocytes and a cardiac dysfunction model, mimicking aspects of preexisting hypertensive disease induced by angiotensin II (Ang II). We recapitulated cytopathic features of SARS-CoV-2-induced cardiac damage, including progressively impaired contractile function and calcium handling, apoptosis, and sarcomere disarray. SARS-CoV-2 presence in Ang II-treated hearts-on-a-chip decreased contractile force with earlier onset of contractile dysfunction and profoundly enhanced inflammatory cytokines compared to SARS-CoV-2 alone. Toward the development of potential therapeutics, we evaluated the cardioprotective effects of extracellular vesicles (EVs) from human iPSC which alleviated the impairment of contractile force, decreased apoptosis, reduced the disruption of sarcomeric proteins, and enhanced beta-oxidation gene expression. Viral load was not affected by either Ang II or EV treatment. We identified MicroRNAs miR-20a-5p and miR-19a-3p as potential mediators of cardioprotective effects of these EVs. In fluoride-assisted galvanic replacement reaction (FAGRR), metallic dendrites are formed simultaneously with hydrogen gas. However, the presence of hydrogen bubbles impedes the reduction of metallic ions to form metallic dendrites. This study investigates the FAGRR approach to manufacturing Ag dendrites where ethanol is incorporated into an AgNO3 reaction solution. The findings of this study demonstrate the efficacy of ethanol as an antifoaming agent in enhancing the deposition of the Ag dendrites during the FAGRR process. The antifoaming effect of ethanol becomes more intense at higher concentrations of AgNO3. The introduction of ethanol into FAGRR can significantly improve processing efficiency and yield in the limited time for manufacturing science and engineering. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
