Abstract

X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) was employed to study the single phase high-Tc superconductor YBa2Cu3O9-δ. Comparison of the observed valence band spectrum with the theoretical spectrum of Mattheiss is given. The core level spectrum of Ba 3d5/2 was examined. The results of Y2Cu2O5 and Y2BaCuO5 are also reported.

Abstract

Raman and infrared spectra of YBa 2 Cu 3− x Co x O 7− δ (0.025 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.5) compounds were measured at room temperature. The charateristic Raman band at 636 cm −1 and the characteristic IR band at 1670 cm −1 of the high T c superconductor were found. The Raman band at 636 cm −1 reflects the relation between superconductivity and the strong electron-phonon coupling in CuO chains or CuO planes; and IR band at 1670 cm −1 is interpreted as charge-transfer or exciton band.

Abstract

Single phase Ba2CeCu3O7.4 was prepared. EXAFS, X-ray diffraction and plasma spectroscopy measurements were performed. A structure model with the cell parameter: a=6.208 A , b=6.232 A and c=8.759 A is proposed based on these experiments. The lack of superconductivity in this system may be caused by the entrance of Ce+4 in Cu-site and the formation of asymmetric [CuO2] plane.

Abstract

We have measured the Cu K edge EXAFS of BiCaSrCuO single crystal superconductor and semiconductor, the nearest coordination around Cu of superconductor phase is agreement with the results obtained from single crystal X-ray diffraction by Sunshine et. al. [1]
