Elastic metamaterials with double negativity can manipulate the propagation of elastic waves at sub-wavelength scales by inducing multiple resonances to achieve different negative effective parameters. Numerous efforts have been made to control the dynamic behavior by directly tuning the frequency range of double negativity in elastic metamaterials. This study examines the impact of tensile loads on double negativity in relation to ligament inclination angle. The findings will aid in the direct tunability of double negativity in single-phase chiral metamaterials. The study examines a simple single-phase four-ligament chiral unit with low-order double negativity. The presence of double negativity was verified through band structure analysis and calculation of the four effective dynamic parameters. Additionally, the effects of two geometrical factors on the frequency ranges of negative parameters were investigated through parametric scanning. The results indicate that the frequency range of double negativity reaches its maximum at a ligament inclination angle of around 45° and disappears as the angle approaches 65°. Given that the ligament inclination angle of the unit cells can be easily altered by external tension, this intriguing outcome is leveraged to achieve the emergence and vanishing of double negativity. As the most advanced vegetable cultivation technology adopted all over the world, tray seedling is the key link of vegetables to increase crop yield and economic benefit. As the key to the whole production process, the precision of tray seedlings is directly related to the survival rate of seeds. Combining the small scale of the domestic vegetable tray seedling industry, low level of mechanization, and low profit of sowing equipment, a tray seedling precision seeder is proposed in this paper and ADAMS software is used to carry out dynamic analysis on the main stressed parts. The results showed possible problems in the design of this type of mechanism, and possible causes were analyzed, the structure of the precision planter was optimized based on the results, and the motion performance of the seeder was improved, which is of great significance for the realization of precision seeding in an automated assembly line.

This study investigates the impact of working clearances on the internal flow field, pressure pulsations, flow pulsations, and radial forces experienced by a hydrogen circulation pump. Numerical calculations are conducted on seven sets of distinct working clearances for the pump. The research findings demonstrate that an increase in meshing clearance and radial clearance results in higher leakage flow rate during the compression exhaust process, leading to a decrease in hydrogen circulation pump's exhaust flow rate. When the meshing clearance increases from 0.15 to 0.21 mm, the actual exhaust flow rate of the pump decreases from 37.46 to 32.73 m3 h−1. Similarly, when the radial clearance increases from 0.18 to 0.24 mm, the actual exhaust flow rate of the pump decreases from 42.46 to 29.71 m3 h−1. Additionally, with an increase in meshing clearance, both the radial forces Fx and Fy of the active rotor exhibit a downward trend. Yet, as radial clearance grows, the radial force Fx slightly descends, while the change trend of radial force Fy is first positive decrease and then reverse increase. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Extensive research has been conducted on the performance of pump turbines, particularly focused on understanding the generation mechanism of S-shaped characteristics. However, there has been a lack of research on unsteady flow characteristics in hump characteristics with small guide vane openings. This study focuses on the hump characteristics of a pump turbine in pump mode. The unsteady numerical simulation method is used along with experimental testing to examine the internal flow characteristics and induced pressure fluctuations under pump operating conditions. The results indicate that flow separation occurs in the impeller when the flow rate decreases to the valley operating condition, and recirculation flow occurs near the impeller inlet at the partial flow rate. Moreover, the unstable flow on the positive slope exhibits a low-frequency characteristic of 0.15fn. The pressure fluctuation from the hub to shroud areas of the guide vane region diminishes sequentially. Notably, distinct vortex structures emerge at the draft tube cone section under the valley operating condition. These structures extend toward the elbow section of the draft tube as the flow rate decreases. This phenomenon generates low-frequency pressure fluctuation originating from the primary frequency of the vortex and dean vortex on the surface, located at 0.4 D of the draft tube under conditions of low flow rate. Cavitation is recognized as a phenomenon that can cause serious damage to a hydro turbine and can reduce its performance when operating at off-design point. This is an undesired phenomenon, which needs to be improved. In order to suppress the cavitation in the Francis turbine draft tube, a technology with grooved draft tube named J-Groove is introduced in the Francis turbine. The Francis turbine performance and the internal flow characteristic are investigated both with and without J-Groove installation by the experimental method and numerical simulation. Visualization was used to capture the cavitation rope in the Francis turbine draft tube to compare with the computational fluid dynamics analysis result. The results show that the turbine performance both with and without J-Groove installation is quite similar. Regardless of impact on performance of Francis turbine by J-Groove, it suppresses the cavitation vortex rope and pressure fluctuation in the Francis turbine draft tube efficiently.
