Abstract Concrete is used worldwide as a construction material in many projects. It exhibits a brittle nature, and fibers' addition to it improves its mechanical properties. Polypropylene (PP) fibers stand out as widely employed fibers in concrete. However, conventional micro-PP fibers pose challenges due to their smooth texture, affecting bonding within concrete and their propensity to clump during mixing due to their thin and soft nature. Addressing these concerns, a novel type of PP fiber is proposed by gluing thin fibers jointly and incorporating surface indentations to enhance mechanical anchorage. This study investigates the incorporation of macro-PP fibers into high-strength concrete, examining its fresh and mechanical properties. Three different concrete strengths 40 MPa, 45 MPa, and 50 MPa, were studied with fiber content of 0–1.5% v/f. ASTM specifications were utilized to test the fresh and mechanical properties, while the RILEM specifications were adopted to test the bond of bar reinforcements in concrete. Test results indicate a decrease in workability, increased air content, and no substantial shift in fresh concrete density. Hardened concrete tests, adding macro-PP fibers, show a significant increase in splitting tensile strength, bond strength, and flexural strength with a maximum increase of 34.5%, 35%, and 100%, respectively. Concrete exhibits strain-hardening behavior with 1% and 1.5% fiber content, and the flexural toughness increases remarkably from 2.2 to 47.1. Thus, macro PP fibers can effectively improve concrete's mechanical properties and resistance against crack initiation and spread.

To improve the fluorescence properties of covalent organic framework (COF) materials, core–shell SiO2@COF composite was prepared, in which SiO2 was used as inner substrate, and BMTH (2,5-bis (2-methoxyethoxy) p-phenylhydrazide) and HB (2-hydroxy-1,3,5-phenyltrialdehyde) acted as precursors to construct COFBMTH-HB layer on the surface of SiO2. Compared with COFBMTH-HB, SiO2@COFBMTH-HB composite showed better dispersion property and improved fluorescence performance under the same experimental conditions. Using SiO2@COFBMTH-HB as a fluorescence probe, the fluorescence intensity was gradually decreased with the addition of Cu2+, while it was restored by introducing Cys or Hcy, realizing "ON–OFF-ON" fluorescence sensing detection. Other amino acids with five times the concentration of Cys showed little effect on the determination of Cys or Hcy. The SiO2@COFBMTH-HB-Cu2+ probe exhibited ultrahigh sensitivity and good selectivity for the detection of Cys and Hcy, with a detection range of 0.23 to 250.0 µM for Cys and 0.31 to 170.0 µM for Hcy. The detection limits (LOD = 3 σ/s) were 75 and 104 nM for Cys and Hcy, respectively. Background: Evidence from observational studies suggests that increased calcium exposure may elevate the risk of adverse events in patients with coronary artery disease, while magnesium may exert a protective effect on disease risk. However, there have been limited investigations into the relationship between these minerals and acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Therefore, this study aimed to explore the association between the Serum calcium-magnesium ratio (Ca/Mg ratio) in patients with acute coronary syndrome and their clinical outcomes. Methods: This retrospective analysis reviewed the clinical data of 1,775 patients with ACS who underwent coronary angiography and/or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) at the Fujian Heart Center between May 2017 and December 2022. The patients were categorized into four groups based on their Ca/Mg ratio at admission (Group 1, ≤2.373, n = 443; Group 2, 2.374–2.517, n = 442; Group 3, 2.518–2.675, n = 446; Group 4, ≥2.676, n = 444). Single-factor analysis and multivariate logistic regression were employed to analyze the clinical characteristics and postoperative clinical outcomes of patients in different groups. The primary outcome included major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs), while the secondary outcomes included contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN)、all-cause rehospitalization raten and hematorrhea. Results: Univariate analysis showed that the patients had a mean age of 64.50±10.79 years, with 370 female patients (20.8%). Additionally, 1,158 patients had hypertension (65.2%), and 710 patients had diabetes (40.5%). Univariate analysis showed an inverse relationship between the serum calcium-to-magnesium ratio and all-cause in-hospital mortality, with patients in the lowest quartile having the highest mortality rate. Multivariate analysis showed that the Ca/Mg ratio at admission was independently associated with MACCEs. Among them, this ratio was inversely associated with all-cause mortality [adjusted odds ratio (aOR) 0.07; 95% CI 0.01–0.63; P<0.05] and positively associated with new-onset atrial fibrillation (aOR 1.86; 95% CI 1.08–3.21; P<0.05). Additionally, the Ca/Mg ratio was positively correlated with an increased risk of postoperative major bleeding (aOR 6.58; 95% CI 1.43–30.29; P<0.05). Conclusion: In this large retrospective study, serum calcium and magnesium levels at admission were significantly associated with adverse outcomes in patients with ACS. Purpose: Acute Type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) is a rare and life-threatening aortic disease. This study was aimed at the potential of the D-dimer to platelet count ratio (DPR) as a prognostic indicator of ATAAD. Patients and Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed ATAAD patients who were admitted to the Department of Cardiac Surgery, Fujian Medical University Union Hospital from January 2022 to April 2023. Patients were divided into survival (n = 173) and death (n = 24) groups based on whether death occurred. The primary outcome was death, and the secondary outcome was adverse hospitalization, including new postoperative arrhythmias, acute renal insufficiency, acute liver insufficiency, pleural effusion, length of ICU stay, mechanical ventilation length, and length of stay. The logistic regression model was used to analyze the relationship between DPR and in-hospital death, and the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was drawn to analyze the predictive value of DPR for in-hospital death of ATAAD patients. Results: Of the 197 patients included, 24 died, and the in-hospital mortality rate was 12.2%. There was a significant difference in diastolic blood pressure (P < 0.05). In terms of laboratory indexes, total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, indirect bilirubin, D-dimer, red blood cell volume distribution width, and DPR in the death group were higher than those in the survival group, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). Operation duration, hospital stay, ICU stay, mechanical ventilation time, and acute renal insufficiency in the death group were higher than those in the survival group (P < 0.05). Univariate analysis and multivariate analysis showed that DPR > 0.0305 ug/mL was an independent risk factor for death in ATAAD patients. AbstractObjectiveMethodsResultsConclusionsSevere asthma (SA) is a serious disease with limited treatment options, which is closely linked to immune dysfunction. Therefore, immune-associated biomarkers may diagnose SA and offer therapeutic targets for SA.The gene expression profiles of SA patients and matched controls were from the National Center for Biotechnology Information database. Immune genes were downloaded from the ImmPort database. After screening for differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between SA patients and controls, and identifying gene modules highly associated with SA, immune-related DEGs were obtained. Then, protein-protein interaction analysis, Cytoscape software and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to identify hub genes. Next, the relationship between hub genes and immune cells was explored, and single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) was applied to conduct pathway enrichment analyses. Finally, the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) combined with ROC analysis were used to confirm the diagnostic value of the hub genes.Forty immune-related DEGs were obtained, and RNASE3, CAMP and LTF were determined as hub genes. The hub genes were closely associated with immune cells, and ssGSEA showed that lysosome was associated with high expressions of the hub genes, while primary immunodeficiency was related to low expressions of the hub genes. LASSO combined with ROC analysis confirmed the immune gene-based model (RNASE3, CAMP, LTF, and CD79A) could distinguish SA patients from healthy individuals with high sensitivity.RNASE3, CAMP, LTF, and CD79A could act as diagnostic markers for SA, providing a theoretical basis for developing diagnostic targets for SA. Polyethylene mulching film, which is widely utilized in arid and semi-arid agriculture, leaves residual pollution. A novel approach to addressing this issue is microbial degradation. To screen the strains that degrade polyethylene efficiently and clarify the effect of degrading strains on the turnover of soil organic carbon, a polyethylene-degrading fungus PF2, identified as Trichoderma asperellum, was isolated from long-time polyethylene-covered soil. Strain PF2 induced surface damage and ether bonds, ketone groups and other active functional groups in polyethylene, with 4.15% weight loss after 30 days, where laccase plays a key role in the degradation of polyethylene. When applied to soil, the Trichoderma-to-soil weight ratios were the following: B1: 1:100; B2: 1:200; B3: 1:300 and B4: 1:400. Trichoderma asperellum significantly increased the cumulative CO2 mineralization and soil organic carbon mineralization in the B1 and B2 treatments compared with the control (B0). The treatments B1, B3 and B4 increased the stable organic carbon content in soil. An increase in the soil organic carbon content was observed with the application of Trichoderma asperellum, ranging from 27.87% to 58.38%. A positive correlation between CO2 emissions and soil organic carbon was observed, with the soil carbon pool management index (CPMI) being most correlated with active organic carbon. Trichoderma treatments improved the CPMI, with B3 showing the most favorable carbon retention value. Purpose: The Aggregate Index of Systemic Inflammation (AISI) has emerged as a novel marker for inflammation and prognosis, but its role in patients with acute myocardial infarction has not been studied. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the impact of different AISI levels on the clinical outcomes of patients with acute myocardial infarction. Patients and Methods: This study was a retrospective study, including 1044 patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) who were treated at the Fujian Medical University Affiliated Union Hospital, China from May 2017 to December 2022. The patients were divided into high and low AISI groups based on the median value (Q1 Group, ≤ 416.15, n=522; Q2 Group, ≥ 416.16, n=522), and the differences in baseline characteristics and clinical outcomes between the two groups were analyzed. The primary outcome included major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs), while the secondary outcomes included contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) risk and all-cause rehospitalization rate. Results: The findings of the single-factor analysis suggest that a significant association between high AISI levels and the occurrence of MACCEs in AMI patients. After adjusting for confounding factors, the results indicated that compared to Q1, patients in the Q2 group had a higher risk of all-cause mortality [adjusted odds ratio (aOR) 4.64; 95% CI 1.37– 15.72; p=0.032], new-onset atrial fibrillation (aOR 1.75; 95% CI 1.02– 3.00; p=0.047), and CIN (aOR 1.75; 95% CI 1.02– 3.01; p=0.043), with all differences being statistically significant. Conclusion: In the population of AMI patients, an elevated AISI level is significantly associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular death and can serve as an early marker for adverse prognosis. The Siberian Scoter (Melanitta stejnegeri) is a medium sea duck distinct from M. deglandi due to the absence of hybridization and differences in morphological characteristics. However, knowledge of its phylogenetic relationships within Anseriformes is limited due to a lack of molecular data. In this study, the complete mitogenome of M. stejnegeri was firstly sequenced, then annotated and used to reconstruct the phylogenetic relationships of 76 Anseriformes species. The complete mitogenome of M. stejnegeri is 16,631 bp and encodes 37 typical genes: 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNAs, 22 transfer RNAs, and 1 non-coding control region. Its mitogenome organization is similar to that of other Anseriformes species. The phylogenetic relationships within the genus Melanitta are initially clarified, with M. americana at the base. M. stejnegeri and M. deglandi are sister groups, clustering with M. fusca and M. perspicillata in order. Phylogenetic analysis suggests that Mareca falcata and M. strepera are sister groups, differing from previous studies. Results firstly indicate that Clangula hyemalis and Somateria mollissima are sister groups, suggesting a potentially skewed phylogenetic relationship may have been overlooked in earlier analyses relying solely on mitochondrial genomes. Pre-trained language models (PLMs) are proficient at understanding context in plain text but often struggle with the nuanced linguistics of task-oriented dialogues. The information exchanges in dialogues and the dynamic role-shifting of speakers contribute to complex coreference and interlinking phenomena across multi-turn interactions. To address these challenges, we propose Coreference-Enhanced Contrastive Pre-training (CECPT), an innovative pre-training framework specifically designed to enhance dialogue modeling. CECPT utilizes unsupervised dialogue datasets to capture both semantic richness and structural coherence. Our experimental results demonstrate that the CECPT model significantly outperforms established baselines in three critical applications: intent recognition, dialogue act prediction, and dialogue state tracking. Purpose: The inflammatory response of the body is intimately linked to the quick onset and high in-hospital mortality of Acute Type A Aortic Dissection (ATAAD). The purpose of the study was to examine the connection between in-hospital mortality in patients with ATAAD upon admission and the Pan-Immune-Inflammation Value (PIV). Patients and Methods: 308 patients who were diagnosed with ATAAD between September 2018 and October 2021 at Fujian Provincial Center for Cardiovascular Medicine had their clinical data retrospectively examined. PIV was assessed at the time of study population admission, with in-hospital mortality serving as the main outcome measure. Patients were divided into two groups, the high PIV group (PIV > 1807.704) and the low PIV group (PIV < 1807.704), based on the PIV ROC curve and the best threshold of the Youden index. The clinical results of the two groups were then compared. Results: Among ATAAD patients, postoperative in-hospital mortality was higher in the high PIV group (54.7% vs 10.6%, P < 0.001), and the high PIV group had significantly higher rates of postoperative acute kidney injury, acute liver insufficiency, and gastrointestinal hemorrhage (P < 0.05). Additionally, the high PIV group's ICU stays lasted longer than the low PIV group's (P < 0.05). The results of multifactorial logistic regression analysis, which controlled for other variables, indicated that the mechanical ventilation time (OR = 1.860, 95% CI: 1.437, 2.408; P < 0.001), the high PIV group (> 1807.704) (OR = 1.939, 95% CI: 1.257, 2.990; P = 0.003), the cardiopulmonary bypass time (OR = 1.011, 95% CI: 1.004, 1.018; P = 0.002), and the white blood cell count (OR = 1.188, 95% CI: 1.054, 1.340; P = 0.005) were independent risk factors for postoperative in-hospital mortality in ATAAD patients. Conclusion: Postoperative death in ATAAD patients was independently predicted by high PIV levels at admission. Background: Numerous recent studies have found a strong correlation between intestinal flora and the occurrence of hypertension. However, it remains unclear whether fecal microbiota transfer might affect the blood pressure of the host. This study aimed to quantify both associations. Methods: An electronic search was conducted in PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WanFang database, Weipu, Embase, and SinoMed to retrieve relevant studies. The final search was completed on August 22, 2022. Two authors independently applied the inclusion criteria, extracted data, and assessed the risk of bias assessment. All data were analyzed using RevMan 5.4. Results: A total of 5 articles were selected for final inclusion. All studies were assessed as having a high risk of bias according to the SYRCLE risk of bias tool. The meta-analysis results showed that transplantation of fecal bacteria from the hypertensive model can significantly improve the host's systolic pressure (MD = 18.37, 95%CI: 9.74~26.99, P<0.001), and diastolic pressure (MD = 17.65, 95%CI: 12.37~22.93, P<0.001). Subgroup analyses revealed that the increase in systolic pressure in the hypertension model subgroup (MD = 29.56, 95%CI = 23.55–35.58, P<0.001) was more pronounced than that in the normotensive model subgroup (MD = 12.48, 95%CI = 3.51–21.45, P<0.001). Conclusion: This meta-analysis suggests a relationship between gut microbiota dysbiosis and increased blood pressure, where transplantation of fecal bacteria from the hypertensive model can cause a significant increase in systolic pressure and diastolic pressure in animal models. Controllable Text Generation (CTG) aims to modify the output of a Language Model (LM) to meet specific constraints. For example, in a customer service conversation, responses from the agent should ideally be soothing and address the user's dissatisfaction or complaints. This imposes significant demands on controlling language model output. However, demerits exist among traditional methods. Promoting and fine-tuning language models exhibit the "hallucination" phenomenon and cannot guarantee complete adherence to constraints. Conditional language models (CLM), which map control codes into LM representations or latent space, require training the modified language models from scratch and a high amount of customized dataset is demanded. Decoding-time methods employ Bayesian Rules to modify the output of the LM or model constraints as a combination of energy functions and update the output along the low-energy direction. Both methods are confronted with the efficiency sampling problem. Moreover, there are no methods that consider the relation between constraints weights and the contexts, as is essential in actual applications such as customer service scenarios. To alleviate the problems mentioned above, we propose Controllable Text Generation with Generative Adversarial Networks (CTGGAN), which utilizes a language model with logits bias as the Generator to produce constrained text and employs the Discriminator with learnable constraint weight combinations to score and update the generation. We evaluate the method in the text completion task and Chinese customer service dialogues scenario, and our method shows superior performance in metrics such as PPL and Dist-3.
