Abstract

Metal-organic skeleton materials have been widely used in catalysis with their porous structure and adsorption properties. Precious metal nanoparticles have good catalytic properties. If the noble metal nanoparticles are adsorbed on the MOFs surface, the active sites can be increased and the catalytic effect of the materials can be greatly improved. We successfully synthesized Pt@ZIF-8 in two steps, the average particle size of Pt nanoparticles is about 3 nm. Pt@ZIF-8 possesses peroxidase activity and can oxidize colorless TMB to oxTMB in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. The peroxide-like nature of Pt@ZIF-8 is consistent with Michaelis-Menten kinetics. Glutathione is a reducing substance that reduces blue oxTMB to colorless oxTMB. This colorimetric method achieves a simple, sensitive and intuitive detection of glutathione. The detection limit of this experiment is low, which is promising in biomolecular detection.

13. The attachment and separation experiences of the left-behind children in rural China

Abstract

The left-behind children (LBC) refer to children living in rural China, who have been left behind by parents going to work in urban regions. The population of LBC is a social by-product of labour migration in society. LBC grow up experiencing prolonged parent-child separations. Research has shown that LBC suffered from emotional distress and were at risk of reduced psycho-social development. While assessing the existing literature on the impact of the parental migration on LBC's attachment, a meta-analysis was conducted and showed that LBC's parental attachment security was significantly lower than that of non-left-behind children (NLBC). In the current literature, the children are often perceived as passive victims of adverse life experiences and whose own voices are neglected. Therefore, it is imperative that we understand the key processes of the LBC's personal experiences of parental migration from their own perspectives. The current research draws on the theoretical framework of attachment theory to explore the LBC's experiences of the parent-child attachment and the migratory separations from parents. This research used a mixed-method research design, with a quantitative study using an interview- based measure to investigate the distribution of attachment styles of the LBC, a qualitative study using the grounded theory to explore the children's experiences and a triangulation analysis integrating the findings from the quantitative study and the qualitative study. Thirty-nine LBC participated in the study. All the children experienced lengthy separation from both their migrant parents. Findings revealed that the LBC had high rates of the dismissing attachment styles towards their fathers and mothers, similar to children experiencing other types of separation, such as children in foster care. However, findings also showed that it was possible for some LBC to maintain secure attachment with their parents despite the prolonged separations. The grounded theory focused on the LBC's agency in doing rural migrant families. During the pre-migration stage, children were placed in a position in their families that lacked agency. They were largely ignored during the decision-making of the migration. The rural migrant families as perceived by the LBC was conceptualised as 'doing rural migrant families' that foregrounds the active and ongoing essential family practices of 'building family collaboration', 'maintaining an intact family' and 'negotiating support and constraints'. Though starting with a passive position of little agency, the LBC manged to exercise both of their self- focused agency (i.e., making meaning and self-regulation) and other-focused agency (i.e., constructive compliance, resistance, support seeking and giving) in all these family practices. Self-agency was vital to the LBC's resilience when facing parental migration, and their resilience was part of their whole rural family's resilience. The processes in the grounded theory suggested key resilience processes in the successful adaptation to the migration for the LBC and their families. The triangulation of the results from the quantitative and qualitative studies suggested that children's attachment styles might be associated with different parent-child communications, children's emotional responses and cognitive perceptions. The finding of the current research had implications for the future practices and policies for the LBC and the rural migrant families. The support and care provided for the children should consider the children's personal agencies and be designed according to the children's own needs.

Abstract

Objective: To observe the changes of ocular biometric parameters in childrenwith low to moderate myopia after wearing orthokeratology lenses. Methods: A total of 80 children with low to moderate myopia at the Ophthalmology Department of Ruijin Hospital were enrolled. Children were randomly divided into 2 groups: orthokeratology lens group (n=40) and spectacles (n=40) group. Axial length (AL), central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior chamber depth (ACD), and lens thickness (LT) of children in the 2 groups were measured by Lenstar 900 at baseline, 6 months and 12 months after wearing orthokeratology lenses or spectacles, and differences in data between the 2 groups were analyzed with independent t tests. Results: There were no statistically significant differences in AL, CCT, ACD, and LT between the 2 groups at baseline. 39. Quality Assessment of Operational Sea Surface Temperature Product from FY-4B/AGRI with In Situ and OSTIA Data.

Abstract

The Fengyun-4B (FY-4B) satellite is currently the primary operational geostationary meteorological satellite in China, replacing the previous FY-4A satellite. The advanced geostationary radiation imager (AGRI) aboard the FY-4B satellite provides an operational sea surface temperature (SST) product with a high observation frequency of 15 min. This paper conducts the first data quality assessment of operational SST products from the FY-4B/AGRI using quality-controlled measured SSTs from the in situ SST quality monitor dataset and foundation SSTs produced by the operational sea surface temperature and sea ice analysis (OSTIA) system from July 2023 to January 2024. The FY-4B/AGRI SST product provides a data quality level flag on a pixel-by-pixel basis. Accuracy evaluations are conducted on the FY-4B/AGRI SST product with different data quality levels. The results indicate that the FY-4B/AGRI operational SST generally has a negative mean bias compared to in situ SST and OSTIA SST, and that the accuracy of the FY-4B/AGRI SST, with an excellent quality level, can meet the needs of practical applications. The FY-4B/AGRI SST with an excellent quality level demonstrates a strong correlation with in situ SST and OSTIA SST, with a correlation coefficient R exceeding 0.99. Compared with in situ SST, the bias, root mean square error (RMSE), and unbiased RMSE (ubRMSE) of the FY-4B/AGRI SST with an excellent quality level are −0.19, 0.66, and 0.63 °C in daytime, and −0.15, 0.70, and 0.68 °C at night, respectively. Compared with OSTIA SST, the bias, RMSE, and ubRMSE of the FY-4B/AGRI SST with an excellent data quality level are −0.10, 0.64, and 0.63 °C in daytime, and −0.13, 0.68, and 0.67 °C at night. The FY-4B/AGRI SST tends to underestimate the sea water temperature in mid–low-latitude regions, while it tends to overestimate sea water temperature in high-latitude regions and near the edges of the full disk. The time-varying validation of FY-4B/AGRI SST accuracy shows weak fluctuations with a period of 3–4 months. Hourly accuracy verification shows that the difference between the FY-4B/AGRI SST and OSTIA SST reflects a diurnal effect. However, FY-4B/AGRI SST products need to be used with caution around midnight to avoid an abnormal accuracy. This paper also discusses the relationships between the FY-4B/AGRI SST and satellite zenith angle, water vapor content, wind speed, and in situ SST, which have an undeniable impact on the underestimation of the FY-4B/AGRI operational SST.
