Abstract

Modeling gear grinding surface roughness is an essential basis for understanding gear integrity. Due to the complex macro shape of the grinding wheel and workpiece and the difference in local grinding conditions during gear grinding, the direct transfer of the classical surface grinding roughness modeling method is limited. Therefore, this study proposes a method for modeling the surface roughness of gear form grinding, considering the variation of local grinding strips. According to the grinding mechanism of form grinding, the grinding motion relationship between the grinding wheel and the gear is analyzed. The motion trajectory equation of abrasive particles at different local positions under the influence of macro geometric shapes is derived. A grinding wheel model considering the random distribution characteristics of abrasive particles in the complex shape of grinding wheel is established. Based on the generation mechanism of grinding surface roughness, the surface roughness of formed grinding teeth is obtained by an iterative algorithm. The forming grinding test of 12Cr2Ni4A gear material after carburizing and quenching is carried out. The results show that the prediction model of the surface roughness of formed grinding teeth presented in this study agrees with the experimental results. The model can well reflect the surface roughness distribution along the tooth profile under the local grinding strip difference. The work of this study puts forward a new understanding of the formation mechanism of the surface roughness of the formed grinding teeth and provides more reference and basis for the follow-up research.

Abstract

Network-wide traffic analytics are often needed for various network monitoring tasks. These measurements are often performed by collecting samples at network switches, which are then sent to the controller for aggregation. However, performing such analytics without ``overcounting'' flows or packets that traverse multiple measurement switches is challenging. Therefore, existing solutions often simplify the problem by making assumptions on the routing or measurement switch placement. We introduce AROMA, a measurement infrastructure that generates a uniform sample of packets and flows regardless of the topology, workload and routing. Therefore, AROMA can be deployed in many settings, and can also work in the data plane using programmable PISA switches. The AROMA infrastructure includes controller algorithms that approximate a variety of essential measurement tasks while providing formal accuracy guarantees. Using extensive simulations on real-world network traces, we show that our algorithms are competitively accurate compared to the best existing solutions despite the fact that they make no assumptions on the underlying network or the placement of measurement switches., Comment: To appear in IFIP Networking 2020

Abstract

The new coronavirus known as COVID-19 is spread world-wide since December 2019. Without any vaccination or medicine, the means of controlling it are limited to quarantine and social distancing. Here we study the spatio-temporal propagation of the first wave of the COVID-19 virus in China and compare it to other global locations. We provide a comprehensive picture of the spatial propagation from Hubei to other provinces in China in terms of distance, population size, and human mobility and their scaling relations. Since strict quarantine has been usually applied between cities, more insight about the temporal evolution of the disease can be obtained by analyzing the epidemic within cities, especially the time evolution of the infection, death, and recovery rates which affected by policies. We study and compare the infection rate in different cities in China and provinces in Italy and find that the disease spread is characterized by a two-stages process. At early times, at order of few days, the infection rate is close to a constant probably due to the lack of means to detect infected individuals before infection symptoms are observed. Then at later times it decays approximately exponentially due to quarantines. The time evolution of the death and recovery rates also distinguish between these two stages and reflect the health system situation which could be overloaded.
