Perfect vector vortex beams play a very important role in understanding complex structured beams due to their vortex nature and nonuniform polarization profiles. However, the generation of these beams suffers from a limited number of topological charges, bulky optical setup, lack of color information, and limited control along the light propagation direction. To tackle these fundamental and technical challenges, a metasurface approach to generating multiple grafted perfect vector vortex beams (GPVVBs) along the light propagation direction. GPVVBs with different colors are observed by changing the observation plane is proposed. Their polarization profiles are indirectly confirmed through the unique features in the modulated intensity profiles with an analyzer. Furthermore, the dynamic control of these beams is realized by continuously changing the incident polarization. Simultaneous control of color and topological charges in GPVVBs along the longitudinal direction provides more degrees of freedom for carrying information and has the potential to impact quantum science, singular optics, and optical communications. Polarization state generation plays an important role in optics and are applied in many fields. Multispectral polarization manipulation can increase information capacity. To meet the requirement of miniaturization and integration, it is desirable to generate multispectral polarization states with a compact optical device. a metasurface device is proposed and experimentally demonstrated, which can simultaneously realize wavelength separation and polarization generation. A geometric metasurface is used to realize the phase and wavelength multiplexing. Six polarization states with different wavelengths are generated. Customized polarization states with predesigned wavelength information can add extra degrees of freedom for carrying information, opening a new window for portable polarization optics where low‐cost and miniaturized systems are in high demand. Optical vortices (OVs) carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM) have attracted considerable interest in the field of optics and photonics owing to their peculiar optical features and extra degree of freedom for carrying information. Although there have been significant efforts to realize OVs using conventional optics, it is limited by large volume, high cost, and lack of design flexibility. Optical metasurfaces have recently attracted tremendous interest due to their unprecedented capability in the manipulation of the amplitude, phase, polarization, and frequency of light at a subwavelength scale. Optical metasurfaces have revolutionized design concepts in photonics, providing a new platform to develop ultrathin optical devices for the realization of OVs at subwavelength resolution. In this article, we will review the recent progress in optical metasurface-based OVs. We provide a comprehensive discussion on the optical manipulation of OVs, including OAM superposition, OAM sorting, OAM multiplexing, OAM holography, and nonlinear metasurfaces for OAM generation and manipulation. The rapid development of metasurface for OVs generation and manipulation will play an important role in many relevant research fields. We expect that metasurface will fuel the continuous progress of wearable and portable consumer electronics and optics where low-cost and miniaturized OAM related systems are in high demand.

Due to the scheme of fixed-platform beam-steering radar and the space of the blast furnace being subjected to harsh environmental influences, the traditional detection methods of burden surface are limited by geometric distortion, noncoherent clutter, and noise interference, which leads to an increase in the image entropy value and the equivalent number of views, makes the density distribution of burden surface show a diffuse state, and greatly affects the stability and accuracy. In this paper, a new fixed-platform beam-steering radar synthetic aperture radar imaging method (FPBS-SAR) is proposed in the sensory domain of the blast furnace environment. From the perspective of fixed-platform beam-steering radar motion characteristics, the target range–azimuth coupled distance history model under the sub-aperture is established, the azimuthal Doppler variation characteristics of the fixed-platform beam-steering process are analyzed, and the compensation function of the transform domain for geometric disturbance correction is proposed. For noncoherent noise suppression in blast furnaces, the trimmed geometric mean-order-likelihood CFAR method is proposed to take into account the information of burden surface and clutter suppression. To verify the method, point target simulation and imaging for the industrial field measurement data are carried out. The results indicate that geometric distortion is well eliminated, the image entropy value and the equivalent number of views have decreased, and noncoherent noise in blast furnaces is suppressed.
