Abstract

Extracting meaningful entities belonging to predefined categories from Visually-rich Form-like Documents (VFDs) is a challenging task. Visual and layout features such as font, background, color, and bounding box location and size provide important cues for identifying entities of the same type. However, existing models commonly train a visual encoder with weak cross-modal supervision signals, resulting in a limited capacity to capture these non-textual features and suboptimal performance. In this paper, we propose a novel \textbf{V}isually-\textbf{A}symmetric co\textbf{N}sisten\textbf{C}y \textbf{L}earning (\textsc{Vancl}) approach that addresses the above limitation by enhancing the model's ability to capture fine-grained visual and layout features through the incorporation of color priors. Experimental results on benchmark datasets show that our approach substantially outperforms the strong LayoutLM series baseline, demonstrating the effectiveness of our approach. Additionally, we investigate the effects of different color schemes on our approach, providing insights for optimizing model performance. Abstract

The characteristics of wall recycling with different divertor configurations were investigated in this study, focusing on the observations of the spatial distributions of deuterium atomic emissions in the Balmer series (D_{\alpha}, D_{\beta}, D_{\gamma}, and D_{\delta}) with different magnetic field configurations in the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak. The observed D_{\alpha} and D_{\beta} emissions were primarily relatively close to the divertor targets, while the D_{\gamma} and D_{\delta} emissions were primarily relatively close to the X-point. The distributions of the emissions close to the divertor targets and X-point changed differently depending on the divertor configuration. These experimental results indicate that the linear comparison of parameters based on an assumption of similarity of profile shapes in different configurations is insufficient for understanding particle recycling in divertor plasmas. This is because the shape of the density profile of the recycled deuterium atoms and/or the electron density and temperature may change when the magnetic configuration is altered.

Abstract

In order to determinate the effect of 10% bensulfuron-methyl wet table powder on growth effects, photosynthetic pigments and antioxidant enzymes activity of Anabaena azotica, a new test of Bensulfuron-methyl to Anabaena azotica based on spectrophotometric method is provided in this paper. The testing results indicate that 10% bensulfuron-methyl in high concentrations (1 mg/l and 10 mg/l) significantly inhibit the growth and photosynthetic pigments of A.azotica, and the change of antioxidant enzyme activity was obvious. Low-dose bensulfuron-methyl application (< 0.1 mg/1)enables growth of A.azotica as biofertilizer, and its growth rates exhibited wave patterns of different magnitudes.

Abstract

Both experimental modeling and numerical modeling were carried out on Experimental Advanced Superconductive Tokamak (EAST) to study the radiative divertor plasma behavior with neon (Ne) seeding. Steady H-mode radiation feedback control regimes (frad ∼ 18%–36%) were achieved by synergistic working of a divertor puff and supersonic molecular beam injection with Ne in the 2017 EAST campaign. Ne seeding effectively promoted divertor detachment while only causing a slight loss to the plasma stored energy in the experiment. To better understand the experimental result, analysis of the detachment process is introduced in this work. Two time slices namely before and after Ne seeding during the radiative divertor experiment in Shot #71021 were simulated by Scrape Off Layer Plasma Simulator (SOLPS)-ITER code. The simulation results for upstream plasma agreed well with the experiment, and the divertor profile agreed well on the outer targets when ignoring drifts. Radiation distribution was also calculated by SOLPS-ITER, showing that there was a high radiation region near the X-point, which is consistent with the experimental measurements. Abstract

Tungsten (W) is used as the armor material of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) divertor and is regarded as the potential first wall material of future fusion reactors. One of the key challenges for the successful application of W in fusion devices is effective control of W at an extremely low concentration in plasma. Understanding and control of W erosion are not only a prerequisite for W impurity control, but also vital concerns to plasma-facing component (PFC) lifetime. Since the application of ITER-like water-cooled full W divertor in EAST in 2014, great efforts were made to investigate W erosion by experiment and simulation. A spectroscopic system was developed to provide a real-time measurement of W sputtering source. Both experiment and simulation results indicate that carbon (C) is the dominant impurity causing W sputtering in L-mode plasmas, which comes from the erosion of C plasma-facing material (PFM) in the lower divertor and the main chamber limiters. The mixture layer on the surface of W PFCs formed through redeposition or the wall coating can effectively suppress W erosion. Increasing the plasma density and radiation can reduce incident ion energy, thus alleviating W sputtering. In H-mode plasmas, control of edge localized mode (ELM) via resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) proves to be capable of suppressing intra-ELM W erosion. The experiences and lessons from the EAST W divertor are beneficial to the design, manufacturing and operation of ITER and beyond.

23. Induction of long-term glycemic control in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients is associated with improvement of beta-cell function.

Abstract

Objective: To investigate whether long-term optimal glycemic control can be achieved without medication by transient continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) and the possible mechanisms responsible for this remission.Research Design and Methods: Newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients (n = 138, fasting glucose >11.1mmol/l) were hospitalized and treated with CSII for 2 weeks. Intravenous glucose tolerance tests (IVGTTs) were performed, and blood glucose, HbA(1c), lipid profiles, proinsulin, insulin, and C-peptide were measured before and after CSII. Patients were followed longitudinally on diet alone after withdrawal of insulin.Results: Optimal glycemic control was achieved within 6.3 +/- 3.9 days by CSII in 126 patients. The remission rates (percentages maintaining near euglycemia) at the third, sixth, twelfth, and twenty-fourth month were 72.6, 67.0, 47.1, and 42.3%, respectively. Patients who maintained glycemic control >12 months (remission group) had greater recovery of beta-cell function than those who did not (nonremission group) when assessed immediately after CSII. Homeostasis model assessment of beta-cell function (HOMA-B) and the area under the curve (AUC) of insulin during IVGTT were higher in the remission group (145.4 +/- 89.6 vs. 78.5 +/- 68.5, P = 0.002, and 1,423.4 +/- 523.2 vs. 1,159.5 +/- 476.8 pmol x l(-1) x min(-1), P = 0.044). Change in acute insulin response was also greater in the remission group than that in the nonremission group (621.8 +/- 430.4 vs. 387.3 +/- 428.8 pmol x l(-1) x min(-1), P = 0.033).Conclusions: Short-term intensive insulin therapy can induce long-term glycemic control in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients with severe hyperglycemia. The improvement of beta-cell function, especially the restoration of first-phase insulin secretion, could be responsible for the remission. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
