The Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) has three sub-arrays, KM2A, WCDA and WFCTA. The flux variations of cosmic ray air showers were studied by analyzing the KM2A data during the thunderstorm on 10 June 2021. The number of shower events that meet the trigger conditions increases significantly in atmospheric electric fields, with maximum fractional increase of 20%. The variations of trigger rates (increases or decreases) are found to be strongly dependent on the primary zenith angle. The flux of secondary particles increases significantly, following a similar trend with that of the shower events. To better understand the observed behavior, Monte Carlo simulations are performed with CORSIKA and G4KM2A (a code based on GEANT4). We find that the experimental data (in saturated negative fields) are in good agreement with simulations, assuming the presence of a uniform upward electric field of 700 V/cm with a thickness of 1500 m in the atmosphere above the observation level. Due to the acceleration/deceleration and deflection by the atmospheric electric field, the number of secondary particles with energy above the detector threshold is modified, resulting in the changes in shower detection rate., Comment: 18 pages, 11 figures

We investigated the thermodynamic properties of the Fe-based lightly disordered superconductor Ba$_{0.05}$K$_{0.95}$Fe$_2$As$_2$ in external magnetic field H applied along the FeAs layers (H//ab planes). The superconducting (SC) transition temperature for this doping level is T$_c$ = 6.6 K. Our analysis of the specific heat C(T,H) measured for T < T$_c$ implies a sign change of the superconducting order parameter across different Fermi pockets. We provide experimental evidence for the three components superconducting order parameter. We find that all three components have values which are comparable with the previously reported ones for the stochiometric compound KFe$_2$As$_2$. Our data for C(T,H) and resistivity rho(T,H) can be interpreted in favor of the dominant orbital contribution to the pair-breaking mechanism at low fields, while Pauli limiting effect dominates at high fields, giving rise to a gapless superconducting state with only the leading non-zero gap., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures

68Ga decays to the excited states of 68Zn through the electron capture decay mode. New recommended values for the emission probability of 1077keV gamma-ray given by the ENSDF and DDEP databases all use data from absolute measurements. In 2011 Jiang Liyang deduced a new value for 1077keV gamma-ray emission probability by measuring the 69Ga(n,2n)68Ga reaction cross section. The new value is about 20% lower than values obtained from previous absolute measurements and evaluations. In this paper, the discrepancies among the measurements and evaluations are analyzed carefully and the new values are re-recommended. Our recommended value for the emission probability of 1077keV gamma-ray is 2.72+-0.16 %.

The electronic and lattice dynamical properties of compressed solid SiH$_{4}$ have been calculated in the pressure range up to 300 GPa with density functional theory. We find that structures having a layered network with eight-fold SiH$_{8}$ coordination favor metallization and superconductivity. SiH$_{4}$ in these layered structures is predicted to have superconducting transition temperatures ranging from 20 to 80 K, thus presenting new possibilities for exploring high temperature superconductivity in this hydrogen-rich system., Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures

The minute fluctuations of of S&P 500 and NASDAQ 100 indices display Boltzmann statistics over a wide range of positive as well as negative returns, thus allowing us to define a {\em market temperature} for either sign. With increasing time the sharp Boltzmann peak broadens into a Gaussian whose volatility $ \sigma $ measured in $1/ \sqrt{{\rm min}}$ is related to the temperature $T$ by $T= \sigma / \sqrt{2}$. Plots over the years 1990--2006 show that the arrival of the 2000 crash was preceded by an increase in market temperature, suggesting that this increase can be used as a warning signal for crashes. A plot of the Dow Jones temperature over 78 years reveals a remarkable stability through many historical turmoils, interrupted only by short heat bursts near the crashes., Comment: Published version

We report an experimental study of the time dependence of resistivity of a La$_{0.9}$Sr$_{0.1}$MnO$_{3}$ ultrathin film in order to elucidate the underlying mechanism for metal-insulator transition and colossal magnetoresistance CMR effect. There is a clear change of sign in the resistive relaxation rate across the metal-insulator transition driven by temperature or magnetic field. When measuring in increasing temperature or decreasing magnetic field, the resistivity increases with time in the metallic state but decreases with time in the insulating state. These relaxation processes indicate that the metal-insulator transition and the associated CMR are a direct result of phase separation and of percolation of the metallic phase., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, submitted to Physical Review B

The experimentally observed difference of superconducting critical temperature $T_{c}$ in hole-doped cuprates is studied by using an extended interlayer coupling model for layered d-wave superconductors. We show that the change of the maximum $T_{c}$ from series to series is determined by the next nearest neighboring hopping $t^{\prime}$, while the difference of the maximum $T_{c}$ among the compounds in a homogeneous series is controlled by the interlayer pairing strength. We report measurements of in-plane $\rho_{ab}$ and out-of-plane $\rho_{c}$ resistivities on a single crystal of the half-doped bilayer manganite LaSr$_{2}$Mn$_{2}$O$_{7}$. In the temperature $T$ range 220 to 300 K, the resistive anisotropy $\rho_{c}/\rho_{ab}=A+B/T$ ($A$ and $B$ constants), which provides evidence for the variable-range-hopping conduction in the presence of a Coulomb gap. This hopping mechanism also accounts for the quadratic magnetic field $H$ and $\sin^{2}\phi$ dependences of the negative magnetoresistivity $\ln [\rho_{i}(T,H,\phi)/\rho_{i}(T,H=0)]$ ($i=ab,c$), where $\phi$ is the in-plane angle between the magnetic field and the current., Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures, to appear in Physical Review B

The temperature $T$ and magnetic field $H$ dependence of the resistivity $\rho$ has been measured for La$_{0.8-y}$Sr$_{0.2}$MnO$_{3}$ (y=0 and 0.128) films grown on (100) SrTiO$_{3}$ substrates. The low-temperature $\rho$ in the ferromagnetic metallic region follows well $\rho (H,T)=\rho _{0}(H)+A(H)\omega_{s}/\sinh (\hbar \omega_{s}/2k_{B}T)+B(H)T^{7/2}$ with $\rho _{0}$ being the residual resistivity. We attribute the second and third term to small-polaron and spin-wave scattering, respectively. Our analysis based on these scattering mechanisms also gives the observed difference between the metal-insulator transition temperatures of the films studied. We report anisotropic resistivity measurements on a La$_{1.2}$Sr$_{1.8}$Mn$_{2}$O$_{7}$ single crystal over a temperature $T$ range from 2 to 400 K and in magnetic fields $H$ up to 14 T. For $T\geq 218$ K, the temperature dependence of the zero-field in-plane $\rho_{ab}(T)$ resistivity obeys the adiabatic small polaron hopping mechanism, while the out-of-plane $\rho_{c}(T)$ resistivity can be ascribed by an Arrhenius law with the same activation energy. Considering the magnetic character of the polarons and the close correlation between the resistivity and magnetization, we developed a model which allows the determination of $\rho_{ab,c}(H,T)$. The excellent agreement of the calculations with the measurements indicates that small polarons play an essential role in the electrical transport properties in the paramagnetic phase of bilayer manganites., Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, to appear in Physical Review B

We discuss the effects of hydrostatic pressure on the superconducting properties of MgB$_{2}$ within the framework of Eliashberg theory. By considering the pressure dependences of all parameters appearing in the McMillan formula, we show that the calculated pressure derivative of $T_{c}$ as well as the variation of $T_{c}$ with pressure are in good agreement with recent measurements. The pressure dependences of the energy gap $\Delta_{0}$, the effective interaction strength $N(E_{F})v$, the critical magnetic field $H_{c}(0)$, and the electronic specific heat coefficient $\gamma$ are also predicted for this system. A comparison of pressure effect in non-transition elements clearly suggests that MgB$_{2}$ is an electron-phonon mediated superconductor., Comment: 8 pages and 5 figures, accepted for publication in Phys. We report on a systematic study of strain effects on the transport properties and the ferromagnetic transition temperature $T_{c}$ of high-quality La$_{0.9}$Sr$_{0.1}$MnO$_{3}$ thin films epitaxially grown on (100) SrTiO$_{3}$ substrates. Both the magnetization and the resistivity are critically dependent on the film thickness. $T_{c}$ is enhanced with decreasing the film thickness due to the compressive stain produced by lattice mismatch. The resistivity above 165 K of the films with various thicknesses is consistent with small polaronic hopping conductivity. The polaronic formation energy $E_{P}$ is reduced with the decrease of film thickness. We found that the strain dependence of $T_{c}$ mainly results from the strain-induced electron-phonon coupling. The temperature $T$ and magnetic field $H$ dependence of anisotropic in-plane $\rho_{ab}$ and out-of-plane $\rho_{c}$ resistivities have been investigated in single crystals of the bilayer manganite La$_{1.2}$Sr$_{1.8}$Mn$_{2}$O$_{7}$. Below the Curie transition temperature $T_c=$ 125 K, $\rho_{ab}$ and $\rho_{c}$ display almost the same temperature dependence with an up-turn around 50 K. In the metallic regime (50 K $\leq T \leq$ 110 K), both $\rho_{ab}(T)$ and $\rho_{c}(T)$ follow a $T^{9/2}$ dependence, consistent with the two-magnon scattering. We found that the value of the proportionality coefficient $B_{ab}^{fit}$ and the ratio of the exchange interaction $J_{ab}/J_c$ obtained by fitting the data are in excellent agreement with the calculated $B_{ab}$ based on the two-magnon model and $J_{ab}/J_c$ deduced from neutron scattering, respectively. This provides further support for this scattering mechanism. At even lower $T$, in the non-metallic regime ($T<$ 50 K), {\it both} the in-plane $\sigma_{ab}$ and out-of-plane $\sigma_{c}$ conductivities obey a $T^{1/2}$ dependence, consistent with weak localization effects. Hence, this demonstrates the three-dimensional metallic nature of the bilayer manganite La$_{1.2}$Sr$_{1.8}$Mn$_{2}$O$_{7}$ at $T
