BackgroundMobile phones are increasingly being used to deliver health information and health services globally. Mobile health (mHealth) interventions may be well-suited for minority groups with greater barriers to accessing traditional health services. However, little has been written about the process of culturally adapting interventions for multiple ethnic and cultural minorities within a population. ObjectiveThis study describes the process of developing a culturally tailored text message-based maternal health program (TextMATCH: Text for MATernal and Child Health) for Māori, Pacific, Asian, and South Asian families living in New Zealand. We report on engagement and acceptability of the TextMATCH program. MethodsProgram data was examined to describe engagement with the program 18 months after implementation. Telephone interviews were conducted with a sample of participants who consented to provide feedback on acceptability and relevance of the program. ResultsA total of 1404 participants enrolled in TextMATCH over 18 months, with 18.52% (260) actively opting out at some point (after 0 to 17 months of messages). It was found that 356 (70.9%) of the 502 eligible participants actively switched from the initial pregnancy program to the baby program after delivery. Phone interviews were conducted with 29 participants including 6 who had withdrawn (duration of program from 3 to 16 months). Only 2 participants reported that the program was not useful, with the remainder rating the usefulness of messages positively (average 4.24 out of 5). All participants stated that the messages were relevant, culturally appropriate, and easy to understand. Most were happy with the specific advice and the language options provided. ConclusionsWe have demonstrated the importance of an intensive approach to the development of a culturally adapted and tailored mHealth program for multiple different cultural minority groups within our population.

Incompatible plasmids play a crucial role in the horizontal transfer of antibiotic resistance in bacteria, particularly in Gram-negative bacteria, and have thus attracted considerable attention in the field of microbiological research. In the 1970s, these plasmids, housing an array of resistance genes and genetic elements, were predominantly discovered. They exhibit a broad presence in diverse host bacteria, showcasing diversity in geographic distribution and the spectrum of antibiotic resistance genes. The complex genetic structure of plasmids further accelerates the accumulation of resistance genes in Gram-negative bacteria. This article offers a comprehensive review encompassing the discovery process, host distribution, geographic prevalence, carried resistance genes, and the genetic structure of different types incompatible plasmids, including IncA, IncC, IncF, IncL, IncM, IncH, and IncP. It serves as a valuable reference for enhancing our understanding of the role of these different types of plasmids in bacterial evolution and the dissemination of antibiotic resistance. The increasing prevalence of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacter cloacae complex (CREC) poses great challenges to infection treatment in the clinical setting. In this study, we reported the emergence of carbapenemase in a rare species, Enterobacter chuandaensis, belonging to the Enterobacter cloacae complex (ECC). We elucidated the genetic characteristics of carbapenem-resistant isolate FAHZZU5885, co-harboring blaNDM−1 and blaKPC−2. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) and average nucleotide identity (ANI) analysis were used to identify E. chuandaensis. S1 nuclease pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (S1-PFGE) and Southern blotting were used to clarify the number and size of the plasmids in FAHZZU5885. Antimicrobial phenotypes were identified by antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST), and the characteristics of the strain were examined with whole-genome sequencing (WGS). The conjugation experiment and stability assay were conducted to verify the transferability and stability of the plasmid carrying carbapenemase-encoding genes. E. chuandaensis FAHZZU5885 was isolated from a perianal swab of a patient admitted to the ICU. This strain simultaneously carried blaNDM−1 and two blaKPC−2 genes. FAHZZU5885 was resistant to most of the tested antibiotics except for amikacin, tigecycline, and colistin. Two blaKPC−2 were located separately on two different plasmids, the ~ 120 kb IncFIA-IncFII plasmid and the ~ 80 kb IncR plasmid. Both plasmids shared the conserved sequence klcA-korC-ISkpn6-blaKPC−2-ISkpn27-tnpR-tnpA. The blaNDM−1-bearing plasmid had the potential to transfer and can remain stable after successive passages. In addition, the blaNDM−1 was carried on a ~ 80 kb IncFII plasmid with the conserved sequence ISAba125-blaNDM−1-ble-trpF-dsbD-cutA-groS-groL. In summary, this study marks the first report of the multidrug-resistant E. chuandaensis strain FAHZZU5885 harboring two blaKPC−2-bearing plasmids, indicating the potential for the further dissemination of carbapenemase-encoding genes in novel species. Introduction: Immunotherapy has revolutionized the management of lung cancer and improved lung cancer survival in trials, but its real‐world impact at the population level remains unclear. Methods: Using data obtained from eight Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) registries from 2004 through 2019, we addressed the long‐term trends in the incidence, incidence‐based mortality (IBM), and survival of lung cancer patients in the United States. Results: The incidence and IBM of both non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC) all significantly decreased steadily from 2004 to 2019. The 1‐year survival (1‐YS) of both NSCLC and SCLC improved over time, with the best improvement observed for Stage 4 NSCLC. Two significant turning points of Stage 4 NSCLC 1‐YS were observed over the years: 0.63% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.33%–0.93%) from 2004 to 2010, 0.81% (95% CI: 0.41%–1.21%) from 2010 to 2014 and a striking 2.09% (95% CI: 1.70%–2.47%) from 2014 to 2019. The same two turning points in 1‐YS were pronounced for Stage 4 NSCLC in women, which were coincident with the introduction of epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR‐TKIs) and immunotherapy. However, for Stage 4 NSCLC in men, only one significant turning point in the 1‐YS starting in 2014 was found, which might only correspond to immunotherapy. Significant period effects in reduced IBM were also observed for both Stage 4 AD and Stage 4 SQCC during the period. Conclusion: This SEER analysis found that immunotherapy improved the survival of Stage 4 NSCLC patients at the population level in the United States. Objective To investigate the resistance level of Aedes albopictus to commonly used insecticides in Jinshan District, Shanghai, to provide a reference for standardizing the use of insecticides. Methods The larval dipping test was used to detect the resistance of Ae. Albopictus larvae to five kinds of insecticides, the SPSS 18.0 software was utilized to calculate the toxic regression equation and the median lethal concentration (LC50) of insecticides on the larvae. The resistance level was determined by evaluating the 24-hour mortality of adult Ae. Albopictus exposed to diagnostic doses of commonly used insecticides with the adult mosquito contact tube method. Results In 2018 and 2019, Ae. Albopictus larvae in the Jinshan District of Shanghai displayed moderate and high resistance to beta-cypermethrin, with resistance ratios of 25.03 and 65.96 folds respectively; high resistance to deltamethrin, with resistance ratios of 57.25 and 211.75 folds respectively; high resistance to permethrin, with resistance ratios of 46.17 and 243.36 folds. In 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2023, they showed moderate to high resistance to temephos with resistance ratios of 19.55, 23.94, 53.48, and 22.12 folds respectively. In 2021 and 2023, moderate resistance to fenitrothion was observed, with resistance ratios of 30.04 and 12.54 folds respectively. Adult Ae. Albopictus adults exhibited resistance to 0.03% deltamethrin, 0.07% lambda-cyhalothrin, 0.4% permethrin, and 0.08% beta-cypermethrin, with mortality rates ranging from 17.20% to 49.67% in 2021 and 2023. Potential resistance was observed to 0.7% lambdacyhalothrin and 0.2% fenitrothion, with mortalities of 97.48% and 83.74% respectively. Sensitivity was noted to 0.05% propoxur with a mortality rate of 100.00%. Conclusions Ae. Albopictus in the Jinshan District, Shanghai, has developed varying resistance levels to different types of insecticides, including pyrethroids and organophosphates. It is recommended to strengthen the dynamic monitoring of the resistance of Ae. Albopictus and implement comprehensive prevention and control measures with a focus on environmental management, scientifically and rationally selecting hygienic insecticides to delay and mitigate the emergence of resistance. Photocatalytic technology is considered an ideal approach for clean energy conversion and environmental pollution applications. In this work, a bifunctional BiOBr/ZIF-8/ZnO photocatalyst was proposed for removing phenols in wastewater and generating hydrogen peroxide. Insights from scanning electron microscopy measurements revealed the well-dispersion of ZIF-8/ZnO was on the BiOBr layer, which could effectively prevent agglomeration of ZIF-8 and facilitate the separation of carriers. In addition, the optimal H2O2 yield of the BiOBr/ZIF-8/ZnO sample could reach 116 mmol·L−1·g−1 within 2 h, much higher than that of pure BiOBr (with the value of 82 mmol·L−1·g−1). The optimal BiOBr/ZIF-8/ZnO sample could also remove 90% of the phenol or bisphenol A in 2 h, and its kinetic constants were 3.8 times and 2.3 times that of pure BiOBr, respectively. Based on the analysis of the various experimental characterizations, the photocatalytic mechanism of the S-scheme BiOBr/ZIF-8/ZnO composite for the degradation of phenolic pollutants and generation of H2O2 was proposed. The formation of the heterojunction and the oxygen vacancy work together to significantly improve its photocatalytic efficiency. In addition, the BiOBr/ZIF-8/ZnO catalyst has a certain impact on the degradation of phenol in actual wastewater, providing a way to effectively remove refractory pollutants and generate H2O2 in actual water.
