Abstract Background Early diagnosis of muscular tuberculosis (TB) without coexistent active skeletal involvement is often challenging because the disease is very rare and its clinical manifestation is nonspecific and misleading. To raise the awareness and emphasize early diagnosis of muscular TB, we present a case of multiple tuberculous muscle abscesses in a systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) female, but without pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB), in order to increase awareness of and stress the need of early detection of muscular TB. Case presentation A 44-year-old woman with a 6-year history of SLE who had been treated with methylprednisolone for a long time complained of erythema on her trunk and extremities for five months, along with edema and myalgia for two months, and fever for one month. The patient was first misdiagnosed as SLE overlap dermatomyositis. However, an ultrasound-guided drainage of muscle abscesses revealed positive acid-fast staining combined with positive deoxyribonucleic acid fragment of Mycobacterium tuberculosis using metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS). The patient was cured and released following standard anti-tuberculosis medication, local puncture drainage, and an intravitreal injection of streptomycin. Literature search found only 19 cases of tuberculous muscle abscesses occurring in the extremities reported from 1999 to 2023. Conclusions Extrapulmonary TB with predominantly muscle involvement is rare and with no specific clinical presentation. Muscular tuberculosis may be disdiagnosed for dermatomyositis due to the high muscle enzyme levels, delaying diagnosis and treatment. mNGS technology is helpful in the early and rapid diagnosis of muscular TB. On the basis of traditional anti-tuberculosis treatment, an ultrasound-guided percutaneous puncture drainage and intracavitary injection of streptomycin for the treatment of tuberculous muscle abscess is easy to operate, safe and effective, which is worthy of clinical popularization and application.

Systemic sarcoidosis is a granulomatous disease involving multiple organs and systems. A 36-year-old woman was admitted due to multiple nodules of the trunk for 4 months. Upon admission， laboratory and auxiliary examinations were performed. A biopsy specimen revealed multiple nodules in the superficial dermis， which were composed of cells with abundant cytoplasm， large cell body and round or oval nuclei. PET/CT revealed systemic multiple lymph node enlargement complicated with active metabolism. She was eventually diagnosed with systemic sarcoidosis. After combined treatment of methylprednisolone， hydroxychloroquine and tofacitinib for 4 months， the skin lesions were significantly mitigated and no new skin lesions were found. This case prompts that Janus kinase inhibitors can be used to replace conventional immunosuppressants with reproductive toxicity for systemic sarcoidosis patients of reproductive age.

Liquid metal (LM) bioelectronics find widespread uses in healthcare devices and medical implants. However, the current LM‐based electrodes suffer from achieving a combination of features including stable conductivity, high tissue adhesion, stability, good biocompatibility, degradability, and recyclability. In this work, a stable LM electrode is prepared with an extremely high adhesion strength (8.9 MPa), which is tunable in a wide range by introducing an adhesive ureidopyrimidinone (UPy)‐based polymer to harvest the abovementioned properties. With the help of dynamic LM particle‐polymer interactions in the polymer matrix, LMs can not only enhance the adhesion properties but also form a percolated network at a low LM loading (38 vol%) to achieve a high conductance stability (R/R0 = 0.76 at 100% strain). The high adhesion strength provides a highly stable electrical connection with rigid components with a high stretchability of 1154% when mounting a resistor, while a relatively low adhesion makes it a comfortable wounded skin‐interfaced electrode for accelerating wound healing. Taking advantage of their tunable surface adhesion and biocompatibility, the as‐prepared LM electrodes provide a more reliable and friendly approach to the development of healthcare devices. Background: Tinea of vellus hair is a dermatophyte infection with or without localised infection of adjacent skin. The epidemiology and pathogenesis of this disorder have insufficiently been established. Objectives: To gain insight into the epidemiology and analysis dissection of patterns of vellus hair infection. Methods: A comprehensive examination of our series of cases and existing literature, clinical information was performed. Microsporum species were assayed for levels of keratinase and SUB1‐3 level after different keratin‐induced cultures. Results: The infection affects both children and adults, with a male‐to‐female ratio of 1:1.3. The most afflicted areas are the face, neck and upper limbs. Both typical (ringworm‐like) and atypical (tinea incognito) tinea lesions can be observed. The disorder is caused primarily by the zoophilic Microsporum canis (40.39%). Topical antifungal drugs alone are ineffective; mycological cure is achieved in combination with systemic antifungal therapy for 4–8 weeks. In vitro, M. canis exhibited significantly elevated levels of secreted protease and SUB1 and SUB3 transcripts in cat hair cultures. Conversely, the findings of anthropophilic dermatophytes M. audouinii and M. ferrugineum demonstrated the opposite trend, suggesting that there are associations between keratinase activity and expression of SUB1 and SUB3 induced by different keratin substrates among M. canis complex members. Conclusions: The epidemiological characteristics of tinea of vellus hair help us to understand its transmission patterns and develop effective prevention strategies. There are associations between keratinase activity and expression of SUB1‐3 induced by different substrates, which may explain the host shift and adaptation from pet animals to particular micro‐habitats on the human host. PN junction with p-Si / n-Ga2O3 structure was developed by metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) technology on p-type Si (111) substrate. The crystal structure, surface morphology and surface roughness were measured by X-ray diffractometer and atomic force microscope. Then Ti / Au electrodes on these samples were developed by magnet sputtering and evaporation for testing the PN junction characteristics such as I-V curve chart, threshold voltage, on-off current ratio, reverse saturation current, ideal factor, and the barrier height at zero bias voltage. The regulation of PN junction characteristics with growing parameters such as doping concentration and film thickness was studied, and the reasons were given. The crystal quality of β-Ga2O3 thin film and the characteristics of the devices were improved by two-step growing method. A set of PN junction samples were fabricated at three different temperatures when the buffer was developed. Finally, the best conditions of fabricating the PN junction devices was found, and the lattice mismatch and thermal mismatch between Si substrate and β-Ga2O3 thin film were reduced. A high quality n-type β-Ga2O3 thin film with surface roughness of 4. 21 nm and a PN junction with low ideal factor of 42. 1 was obtained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
