China's new urbanization strategy emphasizes the need to help more people enjoy equal access to urban public services while increasing the urbanization rate. With the implementation of the new urbanization strategy, how the villagers of the original rural settlements surrounded by the urban landscape (i.e., urban villages) turn into citizens (i.e., citizenization) has attracted much attention. However, few studies have attempted to deconstruct the influence of the entire change process in urban villages on the process of villagers' citizenization by associating the fate of villagers with external urbanization. To make up for this research gap, this study took Yangji Village of Guangzhou as an example, using the theoretical framework of citizenization to analyze the process and results of citizenization of villagers from the three perspectives of identity, economy, and cultural citizenization, focusing on discussing the relationship between the changes of Yangji Village and the citizenization of villagers and the lagging problems of citizenization of villagers in urban villages to realize a deep discussion on the phenomenon of identity change of villagers in urban villages and clarify the general characteristics and special process of citizenization of urban villages. The results found that: 1) the basic path of citizenization of villagers in urban villages was that farmers acquire urban household registration and urban employment opportunities in the process of land expropriation by the government and gradually realize citizenization by integrating into the social division of labor; 2) the citizenization process of villagers in urban villages can be roughly divided into three stages: the village period, the urban village period, and community relocation period; 3) the government's land acquisition and housing rental behaviors promoted the transformation of villagers' occupation and cultural psychology, while the urban village reconstruction improved the income of the villagers, enhanced the cultural atmosphere of the community, and further promoted the citizenization process of the villagers' identity, occupation, and culture; 4) the reconstruction of urban villages boosted the citizenization process of villagers on the whole. However, the citizenization of villagers was not only the transformation of living space behind the transformation but also affected by the location of urban villages, village collective cadres, external social environment, individual subjective initiatives, and others. The realization of citizenization requires villagers to have a real sense of citizenship, change their way of life, and discard unreasonable traditional ideas. In this process, the government should establish an effective social security mechanism to help land-lost farmers enjoy the same rights as urban citizens regarding employment, social security, housing, education, and other aspects. In addition, community activities or modern media should help less-educated villagers accept the new culture, improve their ideological quality, realize the institutional and normative nature of urban civilization, and enhance their awareness of public services.

The Pan-Pearl River Basin (PPRB) has acted as a pioneer region of China’s reform and opening-up with rapid economic development. Quantitatively clarifying the evolution of ecological carrying capacity (ECC) is vital for the sustainable development of PPRB. Therefore, this study combined a comprehensive evaluation method of the pressure-state-response (PSR) index system with the ecological footprint based on net primary productivity (EF-NPP) method to analyze the spatial and temporal evolution of ecological carrying capacity (ECC) and the comprehensive ecological carrying capacity (CECC) in the PPRB from 2002 to 2019 with the development of economy and society. The random forest regression method was then used to analyze the factors driving ECC and the exponential smoothing was used to predict the future trend in the ECC and CECC of the PPRB. The results indicated that the rapid development of the economy of the PPRB coincided with some resource consumption and environmental damage. But the ECC and the CECC of the PPRB will improve continuously over the next six years according to the prediction results of exponential smoothing method. The per-capita ECC of the PPRB increased from the southern coastal area to the northern inland area. The ECC of Hunan Province decreased significantly during 2007–2010 and the ECC of Guangdong Province increased significantly during 2015–2019. The main factors influencing ECC included the damage of the ecological environment and economic development. These two driving factors showed a “U”-shaped relationship to the ECC of the PPRB, indicating a gradual emergence of the harmony of economic development and ecological damage. This study provides a theoretical basis for the ecological restoration and comprehensive ecological management in the PPRB.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (referred to as "GBA") is an important strategic deployment for China's current economic development. Clarifying the spatial structure characteristics of the GBA urban agglomeration is conducive to optimizing its spatial structure to develop into a multi-center network spatial structure and promoting coordinated regional development. This study uses the advantage of Luojia1-01 nighttime light data, which can distinguish the difference in urban night light intensity. Through multi-scale segmentation of nighttime light intensity, the potential center range is established. The point of interest (POI) data are used for spatial autocorrelation analysis and geographically weighted regression to identify the multi-center distribution of the GBA urban agglomeration, and to analyze its spatial structure characteristics from multiple perspectives such as functional structure identification, spatial correlation measurement, and main center service range. The following list illustrates what the results show. 1) The GBA has five main centers and 14 sub-centers, including the main centers of Guangfo, Shenguan, Hong Kong, Aozhu, and Zhongshan. The functional structures of the five main centers are mainly mixed functional areas, and 14 sub-centers (such as Huadu, Zengcheng, Conghua, Huicheng, Duanzhou, Xinhui, Shiqi) are distributed around the periphery of the main centers. 2) The correlation strength of the five main centers and nine cities plus two special administrative regions in the urban agglomeration, calculated based on the Luojia1-01 nighttime light data, shows characteristics of "strong in the east and weak in the west" and "strong inside and weak outside." 3) The study considered the distribution of the main centers of the urban agglomeration and their spatial correlation strength characteristics, as well as the three groups served by the main centers (Guangfozhao group, Gang-Shenguanhui group and Ao-Zhuzhongjiang group), combined with the planning requirements of the "Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" and "Guangdong Province Land and Space Planning (2020-2035)." The findings suggest that the GBA should build a regional spatial structure of "five centers, one area, three groups and four axes" to achieve pole-driven, axis-supported, and group cooperation and promote its coordinated development into a world-class urban agglomeration.

Der Fokus der chinesisch-deutschen Kommunikationsforschung liegt vor allem auf dem Vergleich kulturspezifischer Konventionen und den daraus resultierenden Konflikten und Missverständnissen. Die vorliegende Studie erweitert dieses Bild und betrachtet Interkulturalität als eine synergetische Ressource für erfolgreiches Beziehungsmanagement. Anhand der Methode der ethnographischen Gesprächsanalyse (Deppermann 2000) werden drei kommunikative Praktiken, die sich aus der Interkulturalität ergeben, in realen chinesisch-deutschen Unternehmenskommunikationssituationen identifiziert: die temporäre Verwendung der Sprache des Gegenübers, die Anpassung an dessen Diskursorganisation sowie die Thematisierung kultureller Besonderheiten. Wie diese kommunikativen Praktiken mit der Verbesserung und der Aufrechterhaltung der Beziehung zwischen den Interagierenden zusammenhängen, wird mittels des Rapport-Management-Modells (Spencer-Oatey 2000; 2008) aufgezeigt.
