Abstract

A three step synthesis of lipomannan (LM) that is one of the domains of lipoarabinomannan (LAM) glycolipids from D-mannose is described. The synthesis used ytterbium triflate/N-iodosuccinimide as the trigger for reaction of n-pentenyl orthoesters and facilitates regioselective assembly of the mannan array.

Abstract

Mannosyl n-pentenylorthoesters (NPOEs) have served as donors and intermediates for other glycosyl donors, such as n-pentenyl glycosides (NPGs), thioglycosides and trichloroacetimidates. The efficiency of donor/acceptor MATCH concept for regioselective glycosylation is demonstrasted.
