4-(2'-Oxo/thiobarbiturinyl acid)-2-(2"-halo-1"H-indolyl)-2,3-dihydro--1,5-benzothiazepines (7-10) and 4-(2'-oxo/thiobarbiturinyl acid)-2-(2"-halo-1"H-indolyl)-2,3-dihydro--1,5-benzoxazepines (11-14) undergoes Mannich reaction to afford compounds 4-(2'-oxo/thiobarbiturinyl acid)-2-(2"- halo-1"H-indolyl)-3-(substitutedphenyl aminomethylene)-2,3-dihydro-1,5-benzothiazepines (15-22) and 4-(2'-oxo/thiobarbiturinyl acid)-2-(2"-halo-1"H-indolyl)-3-( substitutedphenyl aminomethylene)- 2,3-dihydro-1,5-benzoxazepines (23-30) correspondingly. All the chemical framework of these newer drugs were elucidated by using elemental and IR and NMR spectroscopy. All these newly synthesized compounds were tested for antiepileptic effect against SMES experimental models and the results were collated with phenytoin sodium-standard drug. Results of antiepileptic profile showed promising effect in most of the derivatives synthesized. Activity equal to standard drug was shown by compounds 9 and 28. The most promising and active compound of this project was found to be 4-(2'- thiobarbiturinyl acid)-2-(2"-chloro-1"H-indolyl)-3-(chlorophenyl aminomethylene)-2,3-dihydro- 1,5-benzothiazepines, which elicited activity greater than the standard drug. Background: Meconium aspiration syndrome is one of the dreadful complications of prolonged labor, fetal hypoxia due to any cause and prematurity. Once the meconium is aspirated by fetus it may cause severe meconium pneumonitis, respiratory distress, acidosis and ultimately respiratory failure. Extensive neonatal care, surfactant therapy and ventilatory management is required for babies developing respiratory distress secondary to meconium aspiration and despite extensive medical care MAS may prove fatal in many cases. Aim & Objective: 1 Clinical study of maternal risk factors and the perinatal outcome in meconium stained amniotic fluid.2. To study the mode of delivery in a labour complicated by meconium stained amniotic fluid. Methods: Study design: Prospective Study. Study setting: Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, National institute of medical science and research, Jaipur, Rajasthan. Study duration: From October 2022 to October 2023. Study population: All meconium stained amniotic fluid patients admitted in our institute during study period included in the study. Sample size: 100 Results: majority of study participants were from 31-35 years age group e.g. 40 followed by 26-30,21-25,18-20 and >35 found 28,19,9 and 4 respectively. Most of the study subjects were Primipara contributing 60 (60%) and 40 (40%) were Multipara. majority of study participants were from > 40 weeks of gestational age contributing 60 (60%) followed by 37-40 weeks 30 (30%) and < 37 weeks 10 (10%) respectively. majority of cases found with moderate thick MSAF 57 (57%) followed by thin MSAF 27 (27%) and thick MSAF found in 21 cases (21%). majority of cases presented with post maturity 60 (60%) followed by PIH 37 (37%), prolonged labour 33 (33%), Anemia 29 (29%), Multiple risk factors 25 (25%), IUGR 17 (17%) and 10 cases found with Oligohydrmnios 10 (10%). majority of cases delivered through LSCS 55 followed by AD 27 and NVD 18. majority of cases with normal birth weight 80 (80%) 20 cases with low birth weight. majority of cases discharged 91 followed by 7 cases DAMA and 2 cases death during treatment. 3-Acetyl-2-methyl-indole (1) was synthesized by acetylation of 2-methyl indole with acetyl chloride. Facile condensation of compound (1) with various aromatic aldehydes yielded 1-(2'-methylindolyl) arylidenyl chalcones (2-7), which on treating with 2-aminothiophenol and 2-aminophenol afforded 2-substitutedphenyl-2,3-dihydro-4-(2'-methylindolyl)-1,5-benzthiazepines (8-13) and 2-substitutedphenyl-2,3-dihydro-4-(2'-methylindolyl)-1,5-benzoxazepines (14-19), respectively. The structures of all the compounds were delineated by elemental analysis, IR and proton magnetic resonance. The newly synthesized compounds were evaluated for their anticonvulsant activity and were compared with standard drug phenytoin sodium. These compounds were also tested for acute toxicity. Compound 12 was found to be the most potent compound of the series, exhibiting activity of 90 % more potent than standard drug. Structures and electronic properties of SnS quantum dots (QDs) are studied by using first principles density functional theory (DFT) for their potential applications in the design of environmentally friendly green solar cells. QDs of different sizes are investigated and effect of ligation on geometry optimization and the electronic properties of the QDs are investigated. 3-Substitutedphenyl-2-bromomethyl-6-substituted quinazolin-4(3H)-ones (7-10) were treated with hydrazine hydrate to give 3-substitutedphenyl-2-hydrazinomethyl-6-substituted quinazolin-4(3H)-ones (11-14). Compounds 11-14 were condensed with various aldehydes to afford 2-substitutedbenzylidene hydrazinomethyl-3-substitutedphenyl-6-substituted quinazolin-4(3H)-ones (15-22). Cycloaddition of compounds 15-22 with thioglycolic acid and triethylamine / chloroacetyl chloride yielded 2-[(4’-oxo-2’ -substitutedphenyl-thiazolidin-3’-yl)-aminomethyl]-3-substitutedphenyl-6-substituted quinazolin-4(3H)- ones (23-30) and 2-[(4’-oxo-3’-chloro-2’-substitutedphenylazetidin-1’-yl)-aminomethyl]-3- substitutedphenyl-6-substituted quinazolin-4(3H)-ones (31-38), respectively. The structures of these compounds have been elucidated by elemental (C, H, N) and spectral (IR, 1H-NMR) analysis. All the above mentioned compounds were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activity, ulcerogenic activity and acute toxicity study. The present study describes the synthesis, full characterization and biological evaluation of novel azetidinonyl/formazonyl/thiazolidinonylphenothiazines. The synthesis of these compounds as potential anti-inflammatory agents was carried out using a more efficient and versatile synthetic route. Various 4-substituted phenyl-1-(10'-acetylaminophenothiazinyl)-azetidin-2-ones (9-13), 1-(10'-acetyliminophenothiazinyl)-3-substituted phenyl formazans (14-18) and 3-(10'-acetylamino-phenothiazinyl) -2-substituted phenyl-4-thiazolidinones (19-23) were synthesized by reacting 10-(various substituted phenylmethyleneimino) aminoacetylphenothiazines (4-8) with triethylamine / acetyl chloride, benzene diazonium chloride and thioglycolic acid / anhydrous zinc chloride, respectively. The structures of these compounds have been interpreted by elemental (C, H, N) and spectral (I.R., 1H-NMR and mass) analysis. All the compounds were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activity using rat paw oedema inhibition test and were compared with standard drugs. These compounds were also screened for acute toxicity studies. Compound 22 was the most potent compound of the series, exhibiting 82.44% oedema inhibition, interestingly more potent than the standard drug - phenylbutazone. The total cross sections for K-shell ionization of targets, Arsenic and Yttrium (i.e., As & Y), have been calculated due to electron impact at the incident electron energy from ionization threshold to 1 GeV by using the theoretical Khare method modified by Y Kumar et al.³. This method is based on plane wave Born approximation. The calculated cross sections have been compared with the available experimental data and other theoretical cross sections. The present calculated cross sections are in excellent agreement with measured by Merlet C. et al.15 and Hoffmann et al.22 for As. The theoretical Khare model modified by Y Kumar et al. [J. At. Mol. Sci. (2012)], has been used to calculate the total cross sections for K-shell ionization of two targets, chromium, and cobalt, (i.e., Cr & Co) due to electron impact at incident electron kinetic energy from ionization threshold energy to 1 GeV. This method is based on plane wave Born approximation. The present model requires only two atomic parameters, ionization energy, and atomic number. The calculated cross sections have been compared with the available experimental data and other theoretical cross sections. The present calculated cross sections are in excellent agreement with measured by Liovet et al. [J. Phys.B 33, 2000] and Hoffmann et al. [Z. Phys. Rev. A 22, 1980] for Cr. Mobile technology has taken the telecommunication sector by storm. The technology itself has evolved and grown at an exponential pace. However, the health risks associated with it have also shown an upward trend. This paper starts with a basic introduction to the EMF radiation, how they are emitted through the cell towers and mobile phones. It then talks about the causes & sources of these health hazards, certain metrics like the safety distance & the statutory norms prevalent in different countries as contrast to India. The paper also reviews some of the already published results from different experiments and studies conducted in this domain across the world. Lastly, the paper draws some inference and conclude with basic precautions to reduce the adverse effects and recommendations to help reduce the levels of radiation in the environment.
