D5.1 describes the strategy and planned actions of DWC for exploitation. Outcomes will be used in T6.3 (Support market uptake) and close coordination will be ensured with T7.3 (Innovation management and IPR Management). This document provides a mapping of the 17 digital solutions tested among five major European cities. In the core section, an initial assessment for market exploitation is given for the DSs, by providing initial results on market assessment, competitive analysis, and business models. In the last section, a study of transferability and replicability is given with key insights on enablers and barriers. This confidential report presents business model and business plan established in M30 for each spin-off partner. Outcomes are related to WP1, WP2 and WP5 (T5.2.3). It includes a documentation of Go-No Go-decision for the creation of the spin-offs, a business plan and a global exploitation strategy. This document provides the market exploration methodology, 3 spin-off concept descriptions (customer segments, services, team organisation, etc.), their market exploration progress and results, the business plans and next steps that will be undertaken by the end of the project to create a potential new economic activity. This report and its business plans are based on work done in D5.1 “Plan for exploitation”, a market exploration mainly carried out by technology developers, and discussions between partners about the creation of potential spin-offs by the end of the project., Submitted first version (v0.1.0) to EC. This deliverable 5.3 is about the exploitation strategy during the project lifetime of ULTIMATE (hence the suffix "(During)" to its title). It identifies the key exploitable results and the methodology that will be implemented in duration of the project to achieve the objectives. It defines the different types of exploitable entities (knowledge, methods, agreements, technologies, and networks) and their expected added value for key stakeholders. It provides assurance that the impact of the project is set out to have in between and once the end of the funding period is achieved. It discusses the project partners’ commitments and responsibilities in the exploitation activities to be carried out. It presents an overview of how the exploitable results will be utilised by key stakeholders. The ULTIMATE plan for exploitation during the project lifetime is a public document and also dedicated to members of the ULTIMATE consortium. The content was built upon the insights and inputs provided by the whole consortium in order to gather and rationalise the dissemination activities and to identify a list of the first key exploitable results of the ongoing project. The document first describes the project with its relevance to current water related problems and how ULTIMATE project can enable the different stakeholders to cope-up with water management challenges by implementing innovative WSIS solutions. This section also deals with the purpose of this document and detail all interactions with other work packages and deliverables. The table of key exploitable results and technologies to be developed during the project is presented. This table gather key information on targeted markets, exploitation routes and IPR pathway. A second table describes TRL progression with demonstration level. Preliminary analysis of exploitable results and technologies has been carried out to provide some insights and highlight the key results of ULTIMATE. The core content of the deliverable focuses on the methodology to be applied for exploitation activities during the project lifetime. It details the methodology that has been used to identify the key results that can be marketed and the next steps of the exploitation methodology (webinar, bilateral interviews, further upcoming investigations, etc.).. The main objective behind the process is to collect the data on key exploitable results with crucial parameters and characteristics to be tested during the market exploration (technical parameters, scope of application, potential diverted uses, economics, strategy, Strategy, Commercialisation, Willingness to exploit the results and create a startup). The current identified results have been discussed together with the partners. The detailed strategy remains to be designed. The section four includes global individual strategies for each partner with their KER. The identified KER will be later assessed during dedicated interactive workshops and webinar held during the next GA consortium meetings. Additional interviews and assessments will be performed to apply characterisation and prioritisation techniques. These results will be disseminated with the dedicated communication strategy. A dedicated section focuses on a first couple of startup concepts: Seitiss, an industrial synergies builder and manager, and the solution developed by Greener than green by providing the startups background, concepts, technologies, maturity, differentiating aspects, initial possible business models and other relevant information related to the project result exploitation. The first deliverable on exploitation sets up the basis in terms of potential exploitable results and strategy, and a second will be built upon detailed evaluation of each exploitable result, provide details, and fill the gaps step by step to improve the exploitation strategy and increase the granularity level of the information provided (IPR management, exploitation format, pricing strategy, etc). The deliverable pointed out that the partners have not developed a clear view of the exploitation landscape surrounding the project yet. Most partners feel that they will be more prepared to contribute to developing the exploitation strategy and plan towards the end of the project, when the concepts and technology will be more mature. One of the lessons learned is that it is crucial to open up the discussion on exploitation with partners early in the project. It takes time to develop a profound understanding of the full spectrum of exploitation and to formulate a take on it. It is, therefore, important to encourage partners to start thinking about their stance as early as possible. ULTIMATE, and WP5 in particular, provides the consortium partners with the methods and the means to perform this in a EU wide context. The next steps start with involving all partners in the joint effort of developing the final exploitation strategy to ensure successful exploitation of the results of the project. All partners have committed to contributing to and engaging in exploitation activities to achieve this objective. A major phase of market exploration will be launched in the upcoming period for the first startup concepts. The deliverable details upcoming action to be done to reach a maximum impact for WSIS solutions.

A literatura da área de ensino de Física vem apontando críticas às atividades experimentais tradicionalmente desenvolvidas nos laboratórios didáticos há bastante tempo. Diversas metodologias foram desenvolvidas para que tais atividades sejam melhor fundamentadas teórico e epistemologicamente. Poucos estudos, no entanto, investigam como tais metodologias são transpostas para as salas de aulas quando licenciandos buscam implementálas em aulas de Física. Inserida nesse contexto, esta pesquisa tem como objetivo investigar o processo de transposição didática de uma metodologia de ensino para atividades experimentais para a Educação Básica. Em particular, analisamos a transposição da metodologia de Episódios de Modelagem, cujo âmago está na promoção de situações aos estudantes que envolvam, em algum nível, a construção, o uso e a validação de modelos científicos. Pretende-se, assim, contribuir para a construção de uma alternativa para tornar as atividades experimentais de Física nas escolas mais investigativas, promovendo uma aproximação dos estudantes com o conhecimento científico por meio de uma postura ativa na construção de argumentos baseados em modelos científicos. Buscamos responder a seguinte questão geral de pesquisa: Como licenciandos em Física transpõem a metodologia de Episódios de Modelagem para o Ensino Médio? Para tanto, realizamos um estudo de caso exploratório, na perspectiva de Robert Yin, com estudantes de licenciatura de uma disciplina de graduação sobre a experimentação no ensino de Física. Adotando a Teoria Antropológica do Didático de Yves Chevallard (1999) como referencial teórico: i. identificamos as tarefas e técnicas que os licenciandos participantes planejam para seus alunos e implementam quando conduzem Episódios de Modelagem na Educação Básica, assim como os discursos racionais (tecnologias e teorias) mobilizados por eles quando justificam e/ou geram tais tarefas e técnicas; ii. comparamos o planejamento da atividade com a implementação realizada pelos licenciandos com estudantes da Educação Básica; e iii. analisamos o planejamento e a implementação da atividade sob a perspectiva da fundamentação teórica que pauta a metodologia de Episódios de Modelagem. Como resultado, destaca-se que elementos centrais da fundamentação teórica da metodologia de Episódios de Modelagem, como o enfoque na modelagem científica, não repercutiram no planejamento e na implementação das atividades. Identificou-se, no entanto, atenção dos licenciandos com: i. a problematização das atividades, propiciando que os estudantes dessem sentido à investigação realizada; ii. a correspondência entre as etapas da atividade realizada e as preconizadas na metodologia de Episódios de Modelagem; e iii. a legitimação das suas ações, buscando a aprovação dos estudantes da Educação Básica. The literature of the field of Physics Education has been criticizing the experimental activities traditionally developed in didactic laboratories for a long time. Several methodologies have been developed for such activities to be better founded theoretically and epistemologically. Few studies, however, investigate how such methodologies are transposed to classrooms when graduates seek to implement them in physics classes. Inserted in this context, this research aims to provide and investigate the process of didactic transposition of a teaching methodology for experimental activities for Basic Education. In particular, we analyze the transposition of the Modeling Episode methodology, whose core is the promotion of situations for students that involve, at some level, the construction, use and validation of scientific models. The aim is to contribute to the construction of an alternative to make the experimental activities of Physics in schools more investigative, promoting an approximation of students with scientific knowledge through an active stance in the construction of arguments based on scientific models. We seek to answer the following general research question: How do Physics graduates transpose the methodology of Modeling Episodes for High School? To do so, we conducted an exploratory case study, from the perspective of Robert Yin, with undergraduate students of a undergraduate course on experimentation in Physics teaching. Adopting Yves Chevallard's (1999) Anthropological Theory of the Didactic as a theoretical frame: i. we identify the tasks and techniques that the participating undergraduate students plan for their students and implement when conducting Modeling Episodes in Basic Education, as well as the rational discourses (technologies and theories) mobilized by them when they justify and / or generate such tasks and techniques; ii. we compared the planning of the activity with the implementation carried out by the undergraduate students with students of Basic Education; and iii. we analyze the planning and implementation of the activity from the perspective of the theoretical foundation that guides the Modeling Episodes methodology. As a result, it is emphasized that central elements of the theoretical basis of the Modeling Episode methodology, such as the focus on scientific modeling, did not influence the planning and implementation of the activities. However, it was identified the attention of the undergraduate students with: i. the problematization of activities, allowing the students to make sense of the research carried out; ii. the correspondence between the stages of the activity performed and those recommended in the Modeling Episodes methodology; and iii. the legitimation of their actions, seeking the approval of students of Basic Education.

Mechanistic studies of deregulated ERG in prostate cancer and other cancers continue to enhance its role in cancer biology and its utility as a biomarker and therapeutic target. Here, we show that ERG, through its physical interaction with androgen receptor, induces AR aggregation and endoplasmic reticulum stress in the prostate glands of ERG transgenic mice. Histomorphological alterations and the expression of ER stress sensors Atf6, Ire1α, Perk, their downstream effectors Grp78/BiP and eIF2α in ERG transgenic mouse prostate glands indicate the presence of chronic ER stress. Transient activation of apoptotic cell death during early age correlated well with the differential regulation of ER stress sensors, in particular Perk. Epithelial cells derived from ERG transgenic mouse prostates have increased prostasphere formation with resistance to radiation induced cell death. Continued activation of cell survival factors, Atf6 and Ire1α during chronic ER stress due to presence of ERG in prostate epithelium induces survival pathways and provides a selection pressure in the continuum of ERG dependent neoplastic process. These novel insights will enhance the understanding of the mechanistic functions of ERG in prostate tumor biology and towards development of early targeted therapeutic strategies for prostate cancer.

Objective The aim of this study is to measure the changes induced by fampridine on the spatiotemporal parameters of walk in patients with multiple sclerosis, as well as balance, endurance, physical activity and quality of life. Material/patients and methods This is a prospective monocentric preliminary study. Different evaluations were done at D0 and D14 from initiation of fampridine treatment: timed 25 feet walk (T25FW) as usually evaluated, iWalk (instrumented 6 minute walk test), iSway (instrumented balanced test) and iTUG (instrumented timed up and go test). The instrumentation included APDM® Mobility Lab sensors. Another ambulatory accelerometry evaluation was implemented with Actigraph® sensors and quality of life was assessed with SEP-59 survey. Results Twelve patients were included. The results showed: decrease of T25FW (12.1 ± 6.2 s to 10.7 ± 4.9 s, P = 0.003), increase of walking perimeter (239.0 ± 92.2 m to 281.9 ± 130.8 m, P = 0.015), increase of cadence at iWalk (89.2 ± 9.7 steps/min to 98.1 ± 12.9, P = 0.03) and significant decrease of support time during half-turn. Other parameters tend to improve, such as double support time, stride length or ambulatory energy consumption. Intergroup comparisons did not find any significant difference, but some parameters appear to be more favorable in the responder group. Finally, SEP-59 finds significant improvements in most psychological dimensions, unlike physical dimensions. Discussion, conclusion Fampridine appears to induce changes on other aspects than velocity, which will have to be evaluated later with statistically more robust evaluations.

Lightweight designs in engineering applications give rise to flexible structures with extremely low internal damping. Vibrations of these flexible structures due to an unwanted excitation of system resonances may lead to high cycle fatigue failure and noise propagation. A common method to suppress the vibrations is to increase the damping of the system using one of the classical control techniques i.e. passive, active, and/or hybrid. Passive techniques are those control systems that are simply integrated into the structures with no need of external power source for their operations, like viscoelastic damping, piezoelectric and electromagnetic shunt damping, tuned mass damper, etc. However, the control performance of these systems, in terms of the damping ratio and the robustness to uncertainties, is highly limited to the system properties. For example, viscoelastic damping may not perform well at low frequencies and the performance of shunt damping is dependent on the electromechanical coupling between the structure and the transducer. To overcome the limitations associated with passive controls, it has been proposed to use active control systems, which are less sensitive to the system's parameters, to improve the control performance. It requires an integration of sensors and actuators with a feedback loop containing control laws. However, the high requirement of the external power source is not favorable for engineering applications where energy efficiency is the key parameter. The combination of active and passive strategies, known as hybrid control systems, can provide a fail-safe configuration with a high control performance and low power consumption. The price to pay for such configurations is the complexity of the design. This doctoral thesis first investigates the conceptual designs of all kinds of classical control systems for a simplified mechanical system. They include 1) the passive shunt using an electromagnetic transducer, 2) the active control system using positive and negative feedback, and 3) the hybrid electromagnetic shunt damper using both an active voltage source as well as an active current source. The next part of this thesis is focused on bladed structures as real-life applications which highly require vibration control due to their low internal damping. Because of practical reasons, piezoelectric transducers are used for the application of control systems. The finite element model of the structure is made first without piezoelectric patches to optimize the best locations of piezoelectric patches. Then, the model is updated with the piezoelectric patches to numerically simulate different control strategies.
