Abstract Background Intramyocardial dissecting hematoma (IDH) is a rare mechanical complication following myocardial infarction (MI), and only a few isolated cases have been reported to date. IDH presents with diverse clinical manifestations, often resulting in missed or misdiagnosed cases due to limited physician understanding. The diagnosis and treatment of IDH is a major challenge. Case presentations We report a case of acute extensive anterior MI in a 73-year-old woman, who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI); the left ventricular intramyocardial dissecting hematoma (LVIDH) penetrated the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT), resulting in thrombus formation and subsequent RVOT obstruction. Clinically insignificant IDH was detected by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) at 3 days, 43 days, and 75 days post-PCI, with characteristic changes in the left ventricular wall ultrasound images. This unusual case highlights the important role of continuous transthoracic echocardiography in identifying this rare complication of LVIDH. After a detailed discussion with the patient, the choice between conservative or surgical management of IDH depends on factors such as the size of the hematomae, left ventricular systolic function, and the patient’s clinical and haemodynamic status. In this particular case, conservative management was chosen by the patient who declined surgery but unfortunately succumbed to cardiogenic shock. Conclusions This case describes a rare complication of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and also focuses on the utility of TTE in the diagnosis of this rare complication. Whether LVIDH is treated conservatively or surgically requires careful evaluation to achieve the best prognosis for the patient.

The extant research evidence indicates that sensible exercise has a beneficial impact on the prevention and treatment of cancer. This paper presents a comprehensive literature review of the field of sports oncology. Its objective is to synthesize and analyze the impact of exercise training on cancer, as well as to elucidate the mechanisms through which exercise affects cancer progression. Additionally, it offers valuable insights for advancing fundamental and clinical research in sports oncology. Firstly, this paper provides a summary of the relationship between exercise and various aspects of tumor progression, including tumor size, weight, metastasis, tumor vascularity, myokine production, immune response, and the efficacy of cancer chemotherapy. Secondly, due to the diversity of tumor properties, we also explore the fact that the specificity of exercise prescription should be tailored to the different tumor types and patient profiles. Furthermore, we discuss the importance of considering individual differences when determining the type of exercise, intensity, intervention, and duration of exercise. Finally, this paper emphasizes the necessity of evaluating the interaction between exercise and conventional or novel immunotherapies and pharmacodynamics in future preclinical studies.

Abstract Rapid advancements in electronic devices yield an urgent demand for high‐performance electronic packaging materials with high thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion, and great mechanical properties. However, it is a great challenge for current design philosophies to fulfill all the requirements simultaneously. Here, an effective strategy is proposed for significantly promoting the thermal conductivity and machinability of negative thermal expansion alloy (Zr,Nb)Fe2 through eutectic precipitation of copper networks. The eutectic dual‐phase alloy exhibits an isotropic chips‐matched thermal expansion coefficient and a thermal conductivity enhancement exceeding 200% compared with (Zr,Nb)Fe2, along with an ultimate compressive strength of 550 MPa. The addition of copper reorganizes the composition of (Zr,Nb)Fe2, which smooths the magnetic transition and shifts it toward higher temperature, resulting in linear low thermal expansion in a wide temperature range. The highly fine eutectic copper lamellae construct high thermal conductivity networks within (Zr,Nb)Fe2, serving as highways for heat transfer electrons and phonons. The in situ forming of eutectic copper lamellae also facilitates the mechanical properties by enhancing interfacial bonding and bearing additional stress after yielding of (Zr,Nb)Fe2. This work provides a novel strategy for promoting thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of negative thermal expansion alloys via eutectic precipitation of copper networks.

Abstract Efficient communication is crucial in reducing injuries and fatalities in coal mine accidents, necessitating the study of simulation methods for mine communication. When transceiver antennas are positioned close to the same side of the tunnel, the simulation results from the Ray Tracing (RT) method exhibit significant errors. Additionally, the Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method demands substantial computational resources. In response to these challenges, we propose a RT-FDTD method, guided by the law of conservation of energy. This approach involves dividing the mine tunnel into a cuboidal region, using the RT method to calculate the electric field strength on the cuboid’s surface, and then employing this as the excitation source for the FDTD method. Subsequently, the FDTD method is used to calculate the electric field strength within the cuboid. Experimental results demonstrate that the RT-FDTD method effectively mitigates the limitations of the RT and FDTD methods, enhancing both the efficiency and accuracy of simulations in underground mine.

In remote sensing mapping studies, selecting an appropriate test set to accurately evaluate the results is critical. An imprecise accuracy assessment can be misleading and fail to validate the applicability of mapping products. Commencing with the WHU-Hi-HanChuan dataset, this paper revealed the impact of sample size ratios in test sets on accuracy metrics by generating a series of test sets with varying ratios of positive and negative sample size to evaluate the same map. A rigorous approach for accuracy assessment was suggested, and an example of tea plantations mapping is used to demonstrate the process and analyse potential issues in traditional approaches. A scale factor (λ) was constructed to measure the discrepancy in sample size ratios between test sets and actual conditions. Accuracy adjustment formulas were developed and applied to adjust the accuracy of 42 previous maps based on the λ. Results showed a higher ratio of positive to negative sample size in test set led to inflated user’s accuracy (UA), F1-score (F1) and overall accuracy (OA), but had little impact on producer’s accuracy. When the ratio aligned with that in the target area, the UA, F1, and OA closely matched the true values, indicating the proportion of positive and negative samples in test set should be consistent with that in actual situation. The accuracies reported by the traditional approaches including test set sampling from labelled data and 5-fold cross validation were far from the true accuracy and could not reflect the performance of the map. Among 42 previous maps, nearly 60% of the maps had UAs overestimated by 10%, and 9.5% of the maps had UAs and F1s deviations of more than 25%. The conclusions of this study provide a clear caution for future mapping research and assist in producing and identifying truly excellent maps.

Antarctic krill is a promising source of marine proteins with abundant biomass and excellent nutritional profile, but has poor technological properties. Ultrasonic treatment at power levels of 0, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 W was applied to improve the technological properties of Antarctic krill meat, and the changes in physicochemical properties of myofibrillar proteins (MPs) were investigated. The results indicated that proper ultrasonic treatment significantly improved the gelling properties of Antarctic krill meat, in terms of a more uniform and stable gel texture and better water holding capacity, which were related to better cross-linking of MPs. Ultrasonic treatment promoted the conversion of MPs’ secondary structures from α-helix and random coil to β-sheet and β-turn, thereby making the molecular structure soft and loose. In addition, at tertiary structure level, ultrasonic treatment exposed the hydrophobic groups and sulfhydryl groups within MPs, thereby improving the emulsifying properties by changing the intermolecular interactions and interface properties. Furthermore, the particle size of MPs decreased and exhibited a more uniform distribution, aligning with the enhanced interactions observed between MPs and oil. These results provide an insight into the efficient development of Antarctic krill by elucidating how the ultrasonic treatment improves the gelling and emulsifying properties based on structure modulation of myofibrillar proteins.

Streptococcus suis (S. suis) is an important swine bacterial pathogen and causes human infections, leading to a wide range of diseases. However, the role of 5’-nucleotidases in its virulence remains to be fully elucidated. Herein, we identified four cell wall-anchored 5’-nucleotidases (Snts) within S. suis, named SntA, SntB, SntC, and SntD, each displaying similar domains yet exhibiting low sequence homology. The malachite green reagent and HPLC assays demonstrated that these recombinant enzymes are capable of hydrolysing ATP, ADP, and AMP into adenosine (Ado), with the hierarchy of catalytic efficiency being SntC>SntB>SntA>SntD. Moreover, comprehensive enzymatic activity assays illustrated slight variances in substrate specificity, pH tolerance, and metal ion requirements, yet highlighted a conserved substrate-binding pocket, His–Asp catalytic dyad, metal, and phosphate-binding sites across Snts, with the exception of SntA. Through bactericidal assays and murine infection assays involving in site-mutagenesis strains, it was demonstrated that SntB and SntC collaboratively enhance bacterial survivability within whole blood and polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) via the Ado-A2aR pathway in vitro, and within murine blood and organs in vivo. This suggests a direct correlation between enzymatic activity and enhancement of bacterial survival and virulence. Collectively, S. suis 5’-nucleotidases additively contribute to the generation of adenosine, influencing susceptibility within blood and PMNs, and enhancing survival within blood and organs in vivo. This elucidation of their integral functions in the pathogenic process of S. suis not only enhances our comprehension of bacterial virulence mechanisms, but also illuminates new avenues for therapeutic intervention aimed at curbing S. suis infections.

ABSTRACTStreptococcus suis (S. suis), a significant zoonotic bacterial pathogen impacting swine and human, is associated with severe systemic diseases such as streptococcal toxic shock-like syndrome, meningitis, septicaemia, and abrupt fatality. The multifaceted roles of complement components C5a and C3a extend to orchestrating inflammatory cells recruitment, oxidative burst induction, and cytokines release. Despite the pivotal role of subtilisin-like serine proteases in S. suis pathogenicity, their involvement in immune evasion remains underexplored. In the present study, we identify two cell wall-anchored subtilisin-like serine proteases in S. suis, SspA-1 and SspA-2, as binding partners for C3a and C5a. Through Co-Immunoprecipitation, Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent and Far-Western Blotting Assays, we validate their interactions with the aforementioned components. However, SspA-1 and SspA-2 have no cleavage activity against complement C3a and C5a performed by Cleavage assay. Chemotaxis assays reveal that recombinant SspA-1 and SspA-2 effectively attenuate monocyte chemotaxis towards C3a and C5a. Notably, the ΔsspA-1, ΔsspA-1, and ΔsspA-1/2 mutant strains exhibit compromised survival in blood, and resistance of opsonophagocytosis, alongside impaired survival in blood and in vivo colonization compared to the parental strain SC-19. Critical insights from the murine and Galleria mellonella larva infection models further underscore the significance of sspA-1 in altering mortality rates. Collectively, our findings indicate that SspA-1 and SspA-2 are novel binding proteins for C3a and C5a, thereby shedding light on their pivotal roles in S. suis immune evasion and the pathogenesis.

Plastic greenhouses (PGs) are integral to modern agricultural practices, enhancing crop yields but also raising environmental concerns. Consequently, comprehending their widespread distribution is essential. Although deep learning has been extensively used for land use/cover classification and extraction with satellite data, the large number of labels limits its application due to the time-consuming and labor-intensive nature of manual labeling. This study introduces a novel approach coupling Prior Knowledge and Deep Learning methods for PG Mapping (PGMPK+DL) using Sentinel-1/2 data. We use an automatic labeling strategy guided by prior knowledge from Sentinel-2 optical data to construct PG labels in six small regions. Moreover, to overcome the cloud contamination issue of optical data, the potential of Sentinel-1 time-series SAR data for PG extraction is analyzed. Deep learning methods are further utilized to capture more abstract and generalized temporal and spatial features from time-series radar data to accommodate complex scenes for large-scale PG extraction. The U-Net model emerges as superior from rigorous comparisons among FCN, SegNet, U-Net, DeepLabV3 + and U-Net3 + deep learning models. Finally, the U-Net model harnessed prior knowledge-based PG labels and Sentinel-1 time-series SAR data to generate a precise map depicting PG distribution across Shandong province, China. Remarkably, it accurately identifies approximately 238,000 ha of PG areas. This PGMPK+DL approach presents a groundbreaking solution for label construction, enabling the achievement of large-scale PG extraction. Beyond enhancing PG extraction, it also holds broader implications for advancing deep learning applications within remote sensing.

BackgroundThe Chinese ethnic medicine Jie-Du-Huo-Xue Decoction (JDHXD) is used to alleviate neuroinflammation in cerebral ischemia (CI). Our previous studies have confirmed that JDHXD can inhibit microglial pyroptosis in CI. However, the pharmacological mechanism of JDHXD in alleviating neuroinflammation and pyroptosis needs to be further elucidated. New research points out that there is an interaction between autophagy and inflammasome NLRP3, and autophagy can help clear NLRP3. The NLRP3 is a key initiator of pyroptosis and autophagy. The effect of JDHXD promoting autophagy to clear NLRP3 to inhibit pyroptosis on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion inflammatory injury is currently unknown. We speculate that JDHXD can inhibit pyroptosis in CI by promoting autophagy to clear NLRP3.MethodsChemical characterization of JDHXD was performed using LC-MS. Model of middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion (MCAO/R) was established in SD rats. Neurological deficits, neuron damage, and cerebral infarct volume were evaluated. Western Blot and immunofluorescence were used to detect neuronal pyroptosis and autophagy.Results30 possible substance metabolites in JDHXD medicated serum were analyzed by LC-MS (Composite Score > 0.98). Furthermore, JDHXD protects rat neurological function and cerebral infarct size after CI. JDHXD inhibited the expression of pyroptosis and autophagy after CI. Our western blot and immunofluorescence results showed that JDHXD treatment can reduce the expression of autophagy-related factors ULK1, beclin1, and LC3-Ⅱ. The expression of NLRP3 protein was lower in the JDHXD group than in the I/R group. Compared with the I/R group, the expressions of pyroptosis-related factors caspase-1 P 10, GSDMD-NT, IL-18, and IL-1β decreased in the JDHXD group. Furthermore, we observed an unexpected result: immunofluorescence demonstrated that Gasdermin D (GSDMD) was significantly absent in the infarct core, and highly expressed in the peri-infarct and contralateral cerebral hemispheres. This finding challenges the prevailing view that GSDMD is elevated in the ischemic cerebral hemisphere.ConclusionJDHXD inhibited pyroptosis and autophagy after MCAO/R. JDHXD suppressed pyroptosis and autophagy by inhibiting NLRP3, thereby alleviating CI. In addition, we present a different observation from previous studies that the expression of GSDMD in the infarct core was lower than that in the peri-infarct and contralateral non-ischemic hemispheres on day 3 of CI.

SF6degradation mechanism in non-thermal plasma (NTP) systems is not fully understood due to the formation of a complex physico-chemical reaction network, especially when reactive gases and packing materials are involved. In this work, we conduct a combined experimental and theoretical study to unravel the SF6 degradation path in a γ-Al2O3packed plasma in the presence of H2O or O2. Our experimental results show that both H2O and O2 have a synergetic effect with γ-A12O3 packing on promoting SF6 degradation, leading to higher stable gas yields than typical spark or corona discharges. HO or O2addition promotes SO2or SO2F2 selectivity, respectively. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that SO2 generation corresponding with the highest activation barrier is the most critical step toward SF6 degradation. Radicals like H and O generated from H2O or O2 discharge can significantly promote the degradation process via Eley-Rideal mechanism, affecting key reactions of stable product generation, advancing degradation efficiency. The results of this work could provide insights on further understanding SF6 degradation mechanism especially in packed-bed plasma systems.

AbstractContext Jiang-Zhi-Ning (JZN), a traditional Chinese medicinal formula, is used to treat hyperlipidemia in clinics.Objective To screen the hypolipidemic “bioequivalent substance system (BSS)” of JZN and elucidate the potential hypolipidemic mechanism.Materials and methods In vitro, the TG content in HepG2 cells was determined after the intervention of the combination of advantageous components (CAC) by uniform design. In vivo, hyperlipidemia models were established by Triton WR-1339 (400 mg/kg; i.p.) in male ICR mice, and corresponding treatments were administered via oral administration once. The mice were divided into 12 groups (n = 5): control, hyperlipidemic model, simvastatin (positive control, 20 mg/kg), gradient doses of JZN granules (2, 4 and 8 g/kg) and the hypolipidemic effective extraction (HEE) of JZN (120, 240 and 480 mg/kg) and CAC groups (20, 40 and 160 mg/kg). Serum TC, TG, LDL-C and HDL-C were performed after 24 h. Transcriptomics and qRT–PCR technology were used to explore the mechanism of the “BSS” of JZN.Results In vitro, the ratio of CAC was determined. CAC could reduce the TG content in HepG2 cells (77.21%). Compared with the model group, the high dose of CAC could markedly decrease the levels of TC (61.86%), TG (105.54%) and LDL-C (39.38%) and increase the level of HDL-C (232.67%). CAC was proved to be the “BSS”. Transcriptomics and qRT–PCR analysis revealed CAC regulated non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, bile secretion, PPAR and adipocytokine signalling pathway.Discussion and conclusions These findings provided new feasible ideas and methods for the elucidation of the pharmacodynamic material basis.

Due to disparities in area among various land cover types, class imbalance has always existed in crop mapping research, posing uncertainties in extracting minority classes which occupy a smaller area. In this paper, taking tea plantations mapping in Hangzhou city as an example, we created a series of training datasets with different imbalance-ratios (IRs), compared the accuracy between the extraction models using these datasets, and analyzed the impact of class imbalance on various machine learning algorithms (Artificial Neural Network, Decision Tree, Random Forest and XGBoost), aiming to provide a feasible approach to improve the mapping accuracy of minority classes. The leave-one-out cross validation results showed that in most cases, with the increase of the IR, the model’s F2-score first increased and then decreased, and the increase of F2-scores ranged from 0.2% to 29.2%, suggesting that moderately increasing the number of other samples in the training dataset can improve the tea plantations extraction accuracy. Consistent result can also be obtained by using the whole city’s samples for modeling and random sampling validation. XGBoost performed best among the four algorithms, which yielded the optimal tea plantations map with a PA of 97%, UA of 93% and F2-score of 96% when the IR of the training dataset was 6. The UA was 19% higher than that of the model using a balanced dataset (IR=1) and was 11% higher than that of the model using pseudo-balanced datasets created by the oversampling method. The conclusions of this study offer insights for the identification of minority classes, contributing to achieving higher accuracy in remote sensing crop mapping.

3D tracking of single‐port continuum surgical tools is an essential step toward their closed‐loop control in robot‐assisted‐laparoscopy, since single‐port tools possess multiple degrees‐of‐freedom (DoFs) without distal joint sensors and hence have lower motion precision compared to rigid straight‐stemmed tools used in multi‐port robotic laparoscopy. This work proposes a novel markerless 3D tracking framework for continuum surgical tools using a proposed surgical tool partial pose estimation network (STPPE‐Net) based on U‐Net and ResNet. The STPPE‐Net estimates the segmentation and a 5‐DoF pose of the tool end‐effector. This network is entirely trained by a synthetic data generator based on domain randomization (DR) and requires zero manual annotation. The 5‐DoF pose estimation from the STPPE‐Net is combined with the surgical tool axial rotation from the robot control system. Then, the entire pose is further refined via a region‐based optimization that maximizes the overlap between the tool end‐effector segmentation from the STPPE‐Net and its projection onto the image plane of the endoscopic camera. The segmentation accuracy and 6‐DoF pose estimation precision of the proposed framework are validated on the images captured from an endoscopic single‐port system. The experimental results show the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed tracking framework for continuum surgical tools.

Objective: To explore the role and molecular mechanism of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in the tumor microenvironment of gastric cancer (GC). Methods: The expression of CAFs in GC patients was first assessed for abundance, and survival analysis was performed. Subsequently, The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) data were used for differential analysis, survival analysis, and EPIC analysis, while single-cell data (GSE183904) were downloaded for differential analysis of CAFs. Clinical data pooling, univariate and multivariate Cox analysis, and immunofluorescence were carried out on clinical GC tissue samples to explore RCN3 expression within patient CAFs. Western blot and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) were used to detect the expression of RCN3. The relationship between RCN3, PCSK6, and STAT1 was explored by chromatin immunoprecipitation (CHIP) experiments, and the effects of the genes on macrophage polarization were detected by detecting biomarkers of biological M1/M2. Results: CAFs in GC were found to be significantly higher compared to the normal group. Revealing the results of TCGA differential analysis, it was observed that GC exhibited a substantial upregulation in the expression levels of RCN3. The clinical statistics indicate a positive correlation between an elevated level of RCN3 expression and the T-stage classification of tumor size. In addition, RCN3 was found to have a significant impact on the overall survival of patients with gastric cancer, acting as an independent prognostic indicator. Analysis of single-cell data showed high expression of PCSK6 in macrophages, and immunofluorescence staining of samples from GC patients showed increased expression of PCSK6 on the cell membranes of macrophages in GC tissues. The subsequent cellular experiments confirmed RCN3 protein can regulate the expression of PCSK6, and PCSK6 regulates macrophage polarization through STAT1. Conclusions: CAFs regulate macrophage polarization through the RCN3/PCSK6/STAT1 pathway in GC.

SO2F2 is widely used as a fumigant pesticide owing to its strong diffusion permeability, low residue, and high insecticidal speed. However, the strong greenhouse effect limits its application, and harmless treatment is also one of the problems. Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) is an effective way to deal with harmful gas, and the treatment efficiency can be significantly improved by adding active gases such as H2O, H2, etc. In this paper, the effect of H2O and H2 on SO2F2 degradation by DBD is investigated. It shows the synergistic effect of reactive gas and DBD plasma on SO2F2 degradation that reactive particles generated from the discharge participate in the degradation of SO2F2 and hinder its recovery. When the input power is 80 W, the 2% SO2F2/1% H2O/97% Ar system achieves a degradation removal efficiency (DRE) of 86.26% and an energy yield (EY) of 13.55 g/kWh, while the 2% SO2F2/1% H2/97% Ar system shows a DRE and an EY of 80.29% and 12.61 g/kWh, respectively. However, in the 2% SO2F2/Ar system, the DRE and the EY are only 64.13% and 10.11 g/kWh, respectively. Moreover, the decomposition path of SO2F2 is analyzed, and it is found that SO2 and SOF2 are the main products in both H2O and H2 systems while the H2 addition generates solid S via the reduction of SO2F2. The results show that the addition of reactive gas can effectively promote the degradation and regulatory product of SO2F2, which provides support for the efficient and harmless degradation of SO2F2 in industry.

IntroductionAffective computing is the core for Human-computer interface (HCI) to be more intelligent, where electroencephalogram (EEG) based emotion recognition is one of the primary research orientations. Besides, in the field of brain-computer interface, Riemannian manifold is a highly robust and effective method. However, the symmetric positive definiteness (SPD) of the features limits its application.MethodsIn the present work, we introduced the Laplace matrix to transform the functional connection features, i.e., phase locking value (PLV), Pearson correlation coefficient (PCC), spectral coherent (COH), and mutual information (MI), to into semi-positive, and the max operator to ensure the transformed feature be positive. Then the SPD network is employed to extract the deep spatial information and a fully connected layer is employed to validate the effectiveness of the extracted features. Particularly, the decision layer fusion strategy is utilized to achieve more accurate and stable recognition results, and the differences of classification performance of different feature combinations are studied. What's more, the optimal threshold value applied to the functional connection feature is also studied.ResultsThe public emotional dataset, SEED, is adopted to test the proposed method with subject dependent cross-validation strategy. The result of average accuracies for the four features indicate that PCC outperform others three features. The proposed model achieve best accuracy of 91.05% for the fusion of PLV, PCC, and COH, followed by the fusion of all four features with the accuracy of 90.16%.DiscussionThe experimental results demonstrate that the optimal thresholds for the four functional connection features always kept relatively stable within a fixed interval. In conclusion, the experimental results demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method.

In the context of global demand for carbon reduction, the formation of inorganic carbon (IC) in the wastewater from oil flooding becomes a potential threat. In this study, Chlorella sp. and Fusarium sp. were used to assemble a fungal-algal pellet to degrade polyacrylamide (PAM) and fix IC in synthetic oil-flooding wastewater. The results showed that the combination of Chlorella sp. and Fusarium sp. was more effective at degrading PAM and removing carbon than a monoculture. With PAM as the sole nitrogen source, the degradation of PAM by the consortium was enhanced up to 35.17 ± 0.86% and 21.63 ± 2.23% compared with the monocultures of fungi or microalgae, respectively. The degradation of the consortium was significantly enhanced by the addition of an external nitrogen source by up to 27.17 ± 2.27% and 22.86 ± 2.4% compared with the monoculture of fungi or microalgae, respectively. This may depend on the effect of synergy between the two species. For the removal of IC from the water, the removal efficiency of the consortium was higher than that of the microalgae by 38.5 ± 0.08%, which may be attributed to the ability of the fungi to aid in the adsorption of nutrients and its assimilation by the microalgae. Therefore, the Fusarium-Chlorella consortium can effectively degrade PAM, while simultaneously fixing carbon, which provides a feasible scheme for the treatment and carbon neutralization of the wastewater that contains PAM.

Abstract Postoperative pain (POP) can promote tumor recurrence and reduce the cancer patient's quality of life. However, POP management has always been separated from tumor treatment in clinical practice, and traditional postoperative analgesia using opioids is still unsatisfactory for patients, which is not conducive to tumor treatment. Here, ropivacaine, a popular amide-type LA, was introduced into a Pluronic F127 hydrogel. Postoperative analgesia with ropivacaine-loaded hydrogels reduced the incidence of high-dose ropivacaine-induced convulsions and prolonged pain relief for more than 16 h. More interestingly, ropivacaine-loaded hydrogel was found to upregulate major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC-I) in tumor cells by impairing autophagy. Therefore, a hydrogel co-dopped with ropivacaine and TLR7 agonist imiquimod (PFRM) was rationally synthesized. After postoperative analgesia with PFRM, imiquimod primes tumor-specific CD8+T cells through promoting DCs maturation, and ropivacaine facilitates tumor cells recognition by primed CD8+T cells through upregulating MHC-I. Consequently, postoperative analgesia with PFRM maximumly increases CD8+T cells infiltration into residual tumor tissue and prevents tumor recurrence. Overall, this study for the first time provides an LA-based approach for simultaneous long-lasting postoperative analgesia and prevention of tumor recurrence.

Sucrose nonfermenting-related protein kinase 1 (SnRK1) is one of the critical serine/threonine protein kinases. It commonly mediates plant growth and development, cross-talks with metabolism processes and physiological responses to biotic or abiotic stresses. It plays a key role in distributing carbohydrates and sugar signal transporting. In the present study, eight SnRK1 coding genes were identified in sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) via sequences alignment, with three for α subunits (SnRK1α1 to SnRK1α3), three for β (SnRK1β1 to SnRK1β3), and one for both γ (SnRK1γ) and βγ (SnRK1βγ). These eight corresponding genes located on five chromosomes (Chr) of Chr1–3, Chr7, and Chr9 and presented collinearities to SnRK1s from maize and rice, exhibiting highly conserved domains within the same subunits from the three kinds of cereals. Expression results via qRT-PCR showed that different coding genes of SnRK1s in sorghum possessed similar expression patterns except for SnRK1α3 with a low expression level in grains and SnRK1β2 with a relatively high expression level in inflorescences. Results of subcellular localization in sorghum leaf protoplast showed that SnRK1α1/α2/α3/γ mainly located on organelles, while the rest four of SnRK1β1/β2/β3/βγ located on both membranes and some organelles. Besides, three combinations were discovered among eight SnRK1 subunits in sorghum through yeast two hybrid, including α1-β2-βγ, α2-β3-γ, and α3-β3-γ. These results provide informative references for the following functional dissection of SnRK1 subunits in sorghum.

Abstract Effective abatement of the greenhouse gas sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) waste is of great importance for the environment protection. This work investigates the size effect and the surface properties of γ‐Al2O3 pellets on SF6 degradation in a packed bed dielectric barrier discharge (PB‐DBD) system. Experimental results show that decreasing the packing size improves the filamentary discharges and promotes the ignition and the maintenance of plasma, enhancing the degradation performance at low input powers. However, too small packing pellets decrease the gas residence time and reduce the degradation efficiency, especially for the input power beyond 80 W. Besides, lowering the packing size promotes the generation of SO2, while reduces the yields of S‐O‐F products, corresponding to a better degradation. After the discharge, the pellet surface becomes smoother with the appearance of S and F elements. Density functional theory calculations show that SF6 is likely to be adsorbed at the AlIII site over the γ‐Al2O3(110) surface, and it is much more easily to decompose than in the gas phase. The fluorine gaseous products can decompose and stably adsorb on the pellet surface to change the surface element composition. This work provides a better understanding of SF6 degradation in a PB‐DBD system.

Abstract Background Whether atrial septal aneurysm (ASA) increases the risk of cerebrovascular ischemic events in patients with patent foramen ovale (PFO) remains controversial. Objective We constructed a detailed meta‐analysis to assess the effect of ASA on risk of cerebrovascular ischemic events in patients with PFO. Methods Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and observational studies (cohort studies and case‐control studies) that compared PFO‐ASA against PFO alone were included. Pooled odds ratios (OR) estimates and 95% CI were calculated using the fixed‐effect and random‐effect models. Results Four RCTs and twelve observational studies (five cohort studies and seven case‐control studies) contributed to the meta‐analysis. The pooled results of case‐control studies showed that ASA increased the risk of cerebrovascular ischemic events in patients with PFO (fixed‐effect model: OR = 3.69; 95% CI: 2.67–5.09; p < 0.01, random‐effect model: OR = 3.63; 95% CI: 2.51–5.24; p < 0.01). However, poole results from RCTs (fixed‐effect model: OR = 1.24; 95% CI: 0.78–1.95; p = 0.36, random‐effect model: OR = 1.27; 95% CI: 0.78–2.08; p = 0.34) and cohort studies (fixed‐effect model: OR = 1.35; 95% CI: 0.81–2.23; p = 0.25, random‐effect model: OR = 1.40; 95% CI: 0.84–2.33; p = 0.20) found no evidence. Overall analysis showed that ASA increased the risk of cerebrovascular ischemic events (fixed‐effect model: OR = 2.30; 95% CI: 1.84–2.87; p < 0.01, random‐effect model: OR = 2.11; 95% CI: 1.48–3.01; p < 0.01). The sensitivity analysis confirmed the stability of all results. Conclusions Although case‐control studies support ASA to increase the risk of cerebrovascular ischemic events in patients with PFO, RCTs and cohort studies challenged the credibility. Further prospective studies are needed to confirm the effect of ASA on patients with PFO.

This study investigates the failure behavior and post-impact damage of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) bar reinforced bridge pier under truck collision. The finite element model of a benchmark bridge with its pier reinforced with GFRP bars collided by a medium truck is established using LS-DYNA. The effectiveness of adopted material models and contact algorithm is verified by comparing the experimental and numerical observations of scaled GFRP reinforced concrete columns under horizontal impact loading. The failure analysis results show that the post-impact damage of the composite pier can be classified into four levels, and the shear force at pier bottom is a reasonable index that can represent the dynamic shear capacity of the composite pier. Besides, the influence of design variables on the dynamic shear capacity of the bridge pier is clarified, and a closed-form formula is proposed to predict the dynamic shear capacity based on response surface methodology. Furthermore, kinetic energy-based damage index and damage evaluation approach are developed to forecast the post-impact damage levels of the composite bridge pier. Finally, combining the post-impact performance objectives and damage evaluation approach, a performance-based crashworthiness design framework is developed and validated to provide a basic reference for design consideration of GFRP reinforced concrete bridge pier.

Abstract Background Aconitum carmichaelii, the mother root of Aconitum, has a long‐applied history for treating many diseases in China. Increased use of it has prompted significant concerns regarding its extensive cardiotoxicity and neurotoxicity. The molecular mechanisms underlying A. carmichaelii‐induced neurotoxicity are poorly understood. Methods We took advantage of the zebrafish model to investigate the neurotoxic mechanism of A. carmichaelii. In addition to the behavior and neuronal activity testing, gene expression of neuronal oxidative stress, and apoptosis levels were also analyzed. Results In contrast to the excitatory effect of low‐dose A. carmichaelii decoction, hypoactivity of locomotor behavior, and neural activity, especially telencephalon, were detected in the 20 mg/mL group. High doses of A. carmichaelii induced excessive ROS by downregulating DJ‐1 and activating Nox5, and further triggered cell apoptosis through the bax/bcl2a‐caspase‐9 pathway in zebrafish larva. Mitochondrial protection‐related genes PinK1 and Parkin were upregulated to protect against mitochondrial dysfunction during cellular stress. The ROS scavenger‐NAC significantly alleviated neurotoxicity in the 20 mg/mL group. Conclusion The study reveals the potential mechanism of A. carmichaelii‐induced neurotoxicity and provides new insights into a significant risk marker of A. carmichaelii poisoning.

Summary: Many efforts for decades have been made to explore electron wind force, produced by electric current itself under electropulsing treatment. However, the clear evidence of this force is hard to separate from Joule heating. Here we study a helical dislocation within quenched Al-Cu-Li alloy when subjected to a pulsed current. Such a helical configuration is quite suited for uncoupling this force from Joule heating effect because, contrary to general dislocations, it can take a unique reconfiguration under a driving force parallel to its Burgers vector. We find that within the pulsed samples, an initial helix happens to reconfigure, evolving into a line morphology. Therefore, it is this electron wind force Few, which parallel to the Burgers vector, would result in such novel helix reconfiguration when compared to the absence of this force. This is the first study to verify electron wind force by a helical dislocation reconfiguration.

2,2′-Dibromobisphenol A (2,2′-DiBBPA) is frequently detected in the environment. However, the mobility of 2,2′-DiBBPA in the soil environment is poorly understood. The present study examined the effects of soil components such as the NaClO-resistant fraction, dithionite-citrate-bicarbonate -demineralized fraction, humin fraction, black carbon, DOC-removed fraction, exogenous dissolved organic carbon and heavy metal cations on the adsorption of 2,2′-DiBBPA on several types of agricultural soils. The adsorption isotherms on soils and soil components were well fitted to the linear isotherm equation. 2,2′-DiBBPA sorption onto soils was dominated by soil organic matter content (SOM) and affected by exogenous dissolved organic carbon. Linear regression relationships between adsorption capacity (Kd) and soil characteristics were evaluated to predict partitioning of 2,2′-DiBBPA. Black carbon played a predominant role in the adsorption of 2,2′-DiBBPA. Heavy metal ions significantly inhibited the adsorptive behavior of 2,2′-DiBBPA under alkaline conditions. Semiempirical linear relationships were observed between biota-sediment accumulation factors (1.18–2.47)/logarithm of bioconcentration factors (BCFs, 2.49–2.52) of 2,2′-DiBBPA in lugworms and Kd. These results allow for the prediction of the bioaccumulation of 2,2′-DiBBPA in other soils. Furthermore, values of log BCF > 1.0 indicate the preferential bioaccumulation of 2,2′-DiBBPA in biota. These data are of significance for understanding the migration of 2,2′-DiBBPA in agricultural soils and bioaccumulation in organisms.

A supermassive black hole can launch a relativistic jet when it violently disrupts a star that passes too close. Such jetted tidal disruption events (TDEs) are rare and unique tools to investigate quiescent supermassive black holes, jet physics, and circumnuclear environments at high redshift. The newly discovered TDE AT2022cmc ( z ∼ 1.193), providing rich multiband (X-ray, UV, optical, submillimeter, and radio) data, has been interpreted as the fourth on-axis jetted TDE. In this work, we constrain the circumnuclear medium (CNM) density profile with both a closure relation test and detailed forward shock model fit with a Markov Chain Monte Carlo approach to the multiband (optical, submillimeter, and radio) data of AT2022cmc. We find that the CNM density profile of AT2022cmc is n ∝ R ^− ^k with k ∼ 1.68, implying a Bondi accretion in history. Furthermore, our model fit result suggests a two-component jet in AT2022cmc, indicating similar jet physics to well-studied jetted TDE Sw J1644+57.

The traditional underwater integrated navigation system is based on an optical fiber gyroscope and Doppler Velocity Log, which is high-precision but also expensive, heavy, bulky and difficult to adapt to the development requirements of AUV swarm, intelligence and miniaturization. This paper proposes a low-cost, light-weight, small-volume and low-computation underwater integrated navigation system based on MEMS IMU/DVL/USBL. First, according to the motion formula of AUV, a five-dimensional state equation of the system was established, whose dimension was far less than that of the traditional. Second, the main source of error was considered. As the velocity observation value of the system, the velocity measured by DVL eliminated the scale error and lever arm error. As the position observation value of the system, the position measured by USBL eliminated the lever arm error. Third, to solve the issue of inconsistent observation frequencies between DVL and USBL, a sequential filter was proposed to update the extended Kalman filter. Finally, through selecting the sensor equipment and conducting two lake experiments with total voyages of 5.02 km and 3.2 km, respectively, the correctness and practicality of the system were confirmed by the results. By comparing the output of the integrated navigation system and the data of RTK GPS, the average position error was 4.12 m, the maximum position error was 8.53 m, the average velocity error was 0.027 m/s and the average yaw error was 1.41°, whose precision is as high as that of an optical fiber gyroscope and Doppler Velocity Log integrated navigation system, but the price is less than half of that. The experimental results show that the proposed underwater integrated navigation system could realize the high-precision and long-term navigation of AUV in the designated area, which had great potential for both military and civilian applications.

Underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs) are critical to a range of applications from oceanographic data collection to submarine surveillance. In these networks, efficient energy management is critical due to the limited power resources of underwater sensors. The LEACH protocol, a popular cluster-based protocol, has been widely used in UASNs to minimize energy consumption. Despite its widespread use, the conventional LEACH protocol faces challenges such as an unoptimized cluster number and low transmission efficiency, which hinder its performance. This paper proposes an improved LEACH protocol for cluster-based UASNs, where the cluster number is optimized with an underwater energy propagation model to reduce energy consumption, and a transmission scheduling algorithm is also employed to achieve conflict-free parallel data transmission. Replication computing is introduced to the LEACH protocol to reduce the signaling in the clustering and data transmission phases. The simulation results show that the proposed protocol outperforms several conventional methods in terms of normalized average residual energy, average number of surviving nodes, average round when the first death node occurs, and the number of packets received by the base station.

Abstract Background Sichuan province is one of the highest AIDS epidemic provinces in China, with a large number of floating population. The annual number of cases of HIV/AIDS reported in Sichuan has been the highest province in China for several successive years. There is a lack of widespread and representative data on the distribution of HIV genotypes in Sichuan. We aim to investigate the characteristics of HIV-1 molecular epidemiology and transmitted drug-resistance in newly diagnosed HIV-infected patients in Sichuan, China. Method Archived plasma samples (n = 1524) from HIV-1 newly-diagnosed individuals in April 2019 were selected by cross-sectional investigation from all 21 cities in Sichuan province. Phylogenetic relationship, transmission cluster, and genotypic drug resistance analyses were performed using HIV-1 polymerase (pol) gene sequences. We also analysed the association of demographic and virological factors with transmitted drug-resistance (TDR) and transmission clusters. Results Partial pol gene sequences were obtained from 1297 cases. HIV-1 epidemic strains in Sichuan province: the majority of genotypes were circulating recombinant form (CRF) 07_BC (675, 52.04%), CRF01_AE (343, 26.45%), CRF08_BC (115, 8.87%), CRF85_BC (67, 5.17%), subtype B (33, 2.54%), the other genotypes only accounted for 4.93%, and unique recombinant forms (URFs) (23, 1.77%) were observed in the study, and the difference of age, ethnicity, education, occupation, region and transmission pathway of different genotypes were statistically significant. According to WHO HIVDR surveillance threshold, the level of TDR has reached a medium level, with 72 of 1297 (5.55%) cases carrying drug-resistance mutation sites, TDR mutation frequency to nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs, 3.85%) was much higher than nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs, 0.31%) and protease inhibitors (PIs, 1.70%), and CRF08_BC was a risk factor for TDR (odds ratio, 8.32; 95% CI 4.38–15.80 for CRF07_BC, P

Abstract Background Hip arthroscopy for treatment of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) has developed rapidly and has been shown to significantly decrease pain and improve hip function. However, the relationship between hip capsule characteristics and healing after arthroscopic surgery and changes in patient-reported outcomes scores (PROs) for postoperative pain, function, and symptoms is still uncertain. Methods We retrospectively evaluated consecutive patients who were diagnosed with FAI and underwent hip arthroscopy for treatment in our hospital between May 2018 and November 2020. All patients had preoperative MRI and postoperative MRI at least 6 months after arthroscopy. Hip capsular thickness was measured at the proximal, middle, and distal site of the capsule. PROs and PROs at final follow-up were obtained, including visual analog scale (VAS) for pain and modified Harris Hip Score (mHHS). Results A total of 194 patients were included in this study. The mean MRI follow-up time was 14.3 (range, 6–37) months, and the mean clinical follow-up time was 26.1 (range, 12–43) months. Postoperative capsular thickness or net change were not correlated with postoperative PROs and VAS (P > .05). Capsular defect was observed in 17 (8.8%) patients. We report a case of a man in his early 50 s who was admitted to our hospital for anorexia. An imaging examination led to a preoperative diagnosis of a gastrointestinal stromal tumor and gallbladder stones. He underwent treatment by laparoscopic cholecystectomy and distal partial gastrectomy with lymph node dissection. The final histopathological diagnosis was gastric schwannoma and tubular adenoma of the gallbladder. Gastric schwannoma accounts for only 0.2% of all gastric tumors, and tubular adenoma constitutes only 2.2% of gallbladder tumors. This report describes the diagnosis and treatment process for this combination of tumors, thus providing a reference for similar cases.

The virtual inertia technology of DGs (Distributed Generations) can provide inertia and damping support for the power system by imitating the traditional synchronous machine. However, the inherent delay problems around the communication and process links of the virtual inertia control will make an impact on the fast support effect. In this paper, the virtual inertia based hierarchical control scheme considering communication delay for distributed generations integration systems is proposed. The hierarchical control architecture including the PQ primary control and the virtual inertia based secondary control method which can realize the optimal power utilization and certain frequency support under the situation of communication signal delay at the same time. Firstly, the basic hierarchical control scheme for distributed generations and corresponding small signal modeling considering communication delay are presented. Then to enhance the inertia support ability of the distributed generation integration system, an improved hierarchical control strategy considering communication delay is designed based on the robust passivity method to compensate the equivalent delay disturbance. Finally, the effectiveness verification of the proposed control is carried out with the simulation cases in PSCAD platform.

Abstract Background Different from arthroscopy in other joints, more perfusion is required for a better access to perform surgical procedures in hip arthroscopic operations. The significant fluid perfused may lead to complications of partial tissue injury and electrolyte imbalance. However, there were few studies on the change of serum electrolyte after hip arthroscopy and the influential factors were still unknown. Methods We evaluated consecutive patients who underwent hip arthroscopy in our hospital between October 2021 and February 2022. Age, sex, and BMI matched patients who underwent arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction at the same time were also included as the control group. Preoperative and postoperative serum electrolyte of sodium (Na +), potassium (K +), chloride (Cl-), magnesium (Mg2 +), and carbon dioxide capacity (CO2CP) were analyzed. The correlations between influential factors like perfusion volume, operating time, BMI and hip circumference, and changes in serum electrolyte were also analyzed. Results A total of 79 patients were involved in this study, including 49 patients who underwent hip arthroscopy and 30 patients who underwent knee arthroscopy. For hip arthroscopy, decrease of potassium levels was observed in 40.8% of the patients, and postoperative hypokalemia was found in 10.2% patients. Accurate, seamless, and long-term land surface temperature (LST) data sets are crucial for investigating climate change and agriculture production. However, factors like cloud contamination have led to invalid values in the LST product, which has restricted the application of the LST dataset. Therefore, the reconstruction of LST products is challenging, and it is attracting widespread attention. This study compared the performance of different algorithms (XGBoost, GBDT, RF, POLY, MLR) and different training sets (using only good-quality pixels or using both good-quality and other-quality pixels) in the estimation of missing pixels in the LST data, obtaining a seamless daily 1 km LST dataset of MODIS Terra-day, Aqua-day, Terra-night, and Aqua-night data for Zhejiang Province and its surrounding areas from 2000 to 2022. The results demonstrated that the performance of machine-learning models is significantly better than that of linear models, and among the five models, XGBoost performed the best, with an RMSE of less than 1 °C. The Wilcoxon test between the reconstructed LST and the true LST values revealed that including both good-quality and other-quality pixels for reconstruction resulted in a 33% increase in the number of days with non-significant differences compared with using only good-quality pixels. Moreover, the reconstructed nighttime LST has a lower RMSE compared with the reconstructed daytime LST, and the RMSE of the reconstructed LST on the Terra satellite is lower than the RMSE of the reconstructed LST on the Aqua satellite. The RMSEs for the reconstructed LSTs are 0.50 °C, 0.61 °C, 0.36 °C, and 0.39 °C, corresponding to Terra-day, Aqua-day, Terra-night, and Aqua-night for images with coverage reaching 70%, 0.65 °C, 0.83 °C, 0.49 °C, respectively, and 0.52 °C for images with coverage less than 70%. The accuracy of the reconstructed LSTs using our proposed framework outperforms the existing reconstruction methods. The 1 km daily seamless LST products can be applied in various fields, such as air temperature estimation, climate change, urban heat island, and crop temperature stress monitoring.

Ghost imaging is a novel imaging technique that utilizes the intensity correlation property of an optical field to retrieve information of the scene being measured. Due to the advantages of simple structure, high detection efficiency, etc., ghost imaging exhibits broad application prospects in the fields of space remote sensing, optical encryption transmission, medical imaging, and so on. At present, ghost imaging is gradually developing toward practicality, in which ghost imaging of moving targets is becoming a much-needed breakthrough link. At this stage, we can improve the imaging speed and improve the imaging quality to seek a more optimized ghost imaging scheme for moving targets. Based on the principle of moving target ghost imaging, this review summarizes and compares the existing methods for ghost imaging of moving targets. It also discusses the research direction and the technical challenges at the current stage to provide references for further promotion of the instantiation of ghost imaging applications.

This paper presents a disturbance-observer-based virtual synchronization control strategy for DG (distributed generation) clusters. The design process of inertia control structure of virtual synchronous generator is firstly adopted for DG clusters. Then the integrated small-signal virtual synchronization control characteristics is derived considering the DG output power fluctuation and load power fluctuation, which shows that system response needs further enhancement for expected dynamic recovery. To suppress the impact of external disturbances on system response, the extended disturbance-observer both for active and reactive power is proposed in this paper to estimate the external power disturbances and then enhance the robustness of the virtual synchronization control for DGs. The dynamic response analysis of the extended disturbance-observer for DG clusters is also conducted to demonstrate the anti-disturbance performance of the proposed control strategy. Theoretical stability analysis and simulations on PSCAD/EMTDC verify the validity and superiority of the proposed control strategy.

IntroductionThe endometrial microbiota plays an essential role in the health of the female reproductive system. However, the interactions between the microbes in the endometrium and their effects on adenomyosis remain obscure.Materials and methodsWe profile endometrial samples from 38 women with (n=21) or without (n=17) adenomyosis to characterize the composition of the microbial community and its potential function in adenomyosis using 5R 16S rRNA gene sequencing.ResultsThe microbiota profiles of patients with adenomyosis were different from the control group without adenomyosis. Furthermore, analysis identified Lactobacillus zeae, Burkholderia cepacia, Weissella confusa, Prevotella copri, and Citrobacter freundii as potential biomarkers for adenomyosis. In addition, Citrobacter freundii, Prevotella copri, and Burkholderia cepacia had the most significant diagnostic value for adenomyosis. PICRUSt results identified 30 differentially regulated pathways between the two groups of patients. In particular, we found that protein export, glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, alanine, aspartate, and glutamate metabolism were upregulated in adenomyosis. Our results clarify the relationship between the endometrial microbiota and adenomyosis.DiscussionThe endometrial microbiota of adenomyosis exhibits a unique structure and Citrobacter freundii, Prevotella copri, and Burkholderia cepacia were identified as potential pathogenic microorganisms associated with adenomyosis. Our findings suggest that changes in the endometrial microbiota of patients with adenomyosis are of potential value for determining the occurrence, progression, early of diagnosis, and treatment oadenomyosis.

Background: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) seriously endangers global public health. Pupingqinghua prescription (PPQH) is an herbal formula from traditional Chinese medicine used for treatment of SARS-CoV-2 infection. This study aims to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of PPQH in Chinese participants infected with the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant.Methods: A total of 873 SARS-CoV-2 (Omicron)-infected patients were included. Among them, the patients were divided into the PPQH group (653 cases) and LHQW group (220 cases) according to different medications. The effectiveness indicators (hematological indicators, Ct values of novel Coronavirus nucleic acid tests, and viral load-shedding time) and safety indicators (liver and kidney function and adverse events) were analyzed.Results: There was no significant difference in baseline characteristics between the PPQH group and the LHQW group, except the gender; After the treatment, the levels of IL-5, IL-6, IL-10, NK cells, and INF-α of the patients in the PPQH group showed a downward trend (p < 0.05); The viral load shedding time was 5.0 (5.0, 7.0) in the PPQH group and 5.0 (4.0, 7.0) in the LHQW group; both PPQH and LHQW can shorten the duration of symptoms of fever, cough, and sore throat. The re-positive rate of COVID-19 test was 1.5 % in the PPQH group and 2.3 % in the LHQW group. In terms of safety, the levels of γ-GTT decreased significantly (p < 0.01); gastrointestinal reaction was the primary adverse reaction, and the reaction rate was 4.7 % in the PPQH group and 9.5 % in the LHQW group.Conclusion: PPQH can shorten the length of hospital stay and improve clinical symptoms of patients with SARS-COV-2 (Omicron), and it also has a good safety profile.

Abstract Background Osteoarthritis (OA) is one kind of degenerative joint disease that happens in articular cartilage and other joint tissues. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been reported to serve as pivotal regulators in many diseases, including OA. However, the role and relevant regulatory mechanisms of CASC19 in OA remain unknown. Methods The expression levels of CASC19, miR-152-3p, and DDX6 were identified by reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Cell viability and apoptosis were determined by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) and flow cytometry assays, respectively. The relationship between miR-152-3p and CASC19 or DDX6 was predicted by bioinformatics tools and verified by the dual-luciferase reporter assay. Results CASC19 was verified to exhibit higher expression in OA tissues and cells. Moreover, inhibition of CASC19 weakened proinflammatory cytokine (IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-α) production and cell apoptosis but facilitated cell viability. Experiments of the ceRNA mechanism elucidated that miR-152-3p was a sponge for CASC19, and miR-152-3p targeted DDX6, suggesting that CASC19 sponged miR-152-3p to release DDX6. Finally, results from rescue assays proved that the impacts of CASC19 silencing on chondrocytes apoptosis and proinflammatory cytokine production could be reversed by DDX6 overexpression. Conclusions It was concluded that lncRNA CASC19 accelerated chondrocytes apoptosis and proinflammatory cytokine production to exacerbate osteoarthritis development through regulating the miR-152-3p/DDX6 axis. These findings may offer an effective biological target for OA treatment.

BackgroundMost men who have sex with men (MSM), especially those with HIV infection, do not disclose their same-sex behaviors in China due to Chinese family values and fear of stigmatization, rejection, or prejudice. However, disclosure of same-sex behaviors to healthcare providers (HCPs) can be beneficial for reducing viral transmission and promoting their physical and mental health. In this study, by combining phylogenetic analysis with traditional epidemiological approaches, we tried to identify the MSM who do not disclose to HCPs in transmission networks and explored the factors related to the non-disclosed behaviors.MethodPhylogenetic analysis was conducted using HIV pol sequences obtained from the drug-resistant surveillance program, which was collected as part of routine clinical care since 2012. Sequences were linked to the demographic data collected in the Chinese HIV/AIDS Comprehensive Response Information Management System (CRIMS). First, male patients in whom genetic sequences were within the molecular transmission clusters involving self-reported MSM were identified as potential MSM (pMSM). Then, a cross-sectional survey was conducted to supplement behavioral information and attitudes toward MSM.ResultsOur sample consisted of 190 pMSM patients. In total, 43.16% of the patients were likely to conceal same-sex behaviors during the first-self-report, and 14.73% of patients might continue to conceal a history of same-sex behaviors even after receiving medical care. The pMSM who concealed their same-sex behaviors were reluctant to accept medical services such as Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) and had a lower likelihood of condom use. In addition, the related factors for non-disclosed behavior were associated with current address, income before diagnosis, and attitudes toward MSM.ConclusionNon-disclosure of same-sex behaviors to HCPs may be a major obstacle for certain medical services for MSM who exhibit risky sexual behaviors. The pMSM from developing areas, with high monthly income, and with neutral or un-supportive attitudes toward MSM may represent non-disclosure of their same-sex behaviors. Thus, policies facilitating MSM to disclose their same-sex behaviors are recommended, such as legislations protecting homosexual rights on employment, education, marriage, and so on.

Background: Inadequate lymphangiogenesis is closely related to the occurrence of many kinds of diseases, and one of the important treatments is to promote lymphangiogenesis. Kuoxin Decoction (KXF) is an herbal formula from traditional Chinese medicine used to treat dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), which is associated with lymphangiogenesis deficiency. In this study, we comprehensively verified whether KXF promotes lymphangiogenesis in zebrafish and in vitro based on network analysis.Methods: We performed virtual screening of the active compounds of KXF and potential targets regarding DCM based on network analysis. Tg (Flila: EGFP; Gata1: DsRed) transgenic zebrafish embryos were treated with different concentrations of KXF for 48 h with or without the pretreatment of MAZ51 for 6 h, followed by morphological observation of the lymphatic vessels and an assessment of lymphopoiesis. RT-qPCR was employed to identify VEGF-C, VEGF-A, PROX1, and LYVE-1 mRNA expression levels in different groups. After the treatment of lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs) with different concentrations of salvianolic acid B (SAB, the active ingredient of KXF), their proliferation, migration, and protein expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 were compared by CCK-8 assay, wound healing assay, and western blot.Results: A total of 106 active compounds were identified constituting KXF, and 58 target genes of KXF for DCM were identified. There were 132 pathways generated from KEGG enrichment, including 5 signaling pathways related to lymphangiogenesis. Zebrafish experiments confirmed that KXF promoted lymphangiogenesis and increased VEGF-C and VEGF-A mRNA expression levels in zebrafish with or without MAZ51-induced thoracic duct injury. In LECs, SAB promoted proliferation and migration, and it could upregulate the protein expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 in LECs after injury.Conclusion: The results of network analysis showed that KXF could regulate lymphangiogenesis through VEGF-C and VEGF-A, and experiments with zebrafish confirmed that KXF could promote lymphangiogenesis. Cell experiments confirmed that SAB could promote the proliferation and migration of LECs and upregulate the protein expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR-3. These results suggest that KXF promotes lymphangiogenesis by a mechanism related to the upregulation of VEGF-C/VEGFR-3, and the main component exerting this effect may be SAB.

Due to the structural stability and high adjustability of perovskite, lead-free perovskite ceramics are widely thought to be one of the most promising functional materials. In this work, an abnormal negative thermal expansion behavior with a linear expansion coefficient of −54.95 ppm/K is achieved in the (1-x)NaNbO3-xCaZrO3 system by driving the antiferroelectric phase transition from orthorhombic phase and tetragonal phase. The NTE mechanism is verified by temperature-dependent high-energy synchrotron X-ray diffraction, dielectric spectra, and Raman scattering spectroscopy. The relationship between the antiferroelectric phase transition and negative thermal expansion behavior is systematically revealed by analyzing the evolution of the phase structure with temperature. This novel negative thermal expansion feature caused by the antiferroelectric phase transition provides new guidance for designing more negative thermal expansion materials.

At 10:05 a.m. on 4 February 2022, the perilous rock mass Yizhuxiang in Leizu Town, Yuan’an County, Hubei Province, China collapsed on a large scale. The Yizhuxiang collapse was about 35 m in length, 52 m in height, and 29 m in maximum thickness. The volume of the collapse was 5.32 × 104 m3. It threatened the transport of the national trunk road, destroyed the branch road and some cement mixing station workshops, and caused serious economic losses. The rock mass exposed in the collapse was dolomite with developed joint fractures. Under the effects of mining and unloading, fractures occurred in the rock mass; the top of the rock mass was bent and deformed towards the free face; and tension cracks were formed on the rear edge. The safety ore pillar directly below the collapsed body was compressed and deformed under the action of gravity, thus accelerating the internal deformation of the rock mass and leading to the formation of multiple dominant joints inside the rock mass. In the winter of 2021, the weather was extreme, with heavy snowfall and low temperatures. Under the effects of freeze–thaw, the strength of the rock mass declined and the tension cracks further expanded so that the rock mass experienced an accelerated deformation and finally collapsed. Causes of the collapse include mining activity beneath the collapsed mass and heightened extreme weather. The cause of the landslide disaster in this area is, however, freeze–thaw, which deserves the attention of scholars and the vigilance of the local government.

Due to the integration of information and internet, the power network has facing more and more uncertain risks of malicious attacks. In response to this problem, we studied it from following four aspects. First of all, multiple cyber-attacks (Denial-of-service, information disclosure, replay attack and deception attack) are analyzed from each operating mechanism. Then, the subsystems are concluded to be a generic modeling frame with considering different type cyber-attack. Secondly, secure defense scenarios are proposed according to each kind cyber-attacks based on the mechanism details. Thirdly, security control conditions are derived by utilizing control theory of stability. Finally, IEEE-14 and IEEE-39 system are used as typical cases to illustrate and analyze the impact of dynamic load altering attack on some of these nodes.

Space dynamic communication base stations are characterized by high mobility, flexible deployment and wide coverage. It has a wide range of needs in the fields of emergency communication, earthquake relief and island communication. To solve the problem of a limited number of users due to the limited bandwidth of space base stations, so we should improve the reliability and efficiency of data transmission between space mobile base stations. According to the characteristics of the airship platform, a blimp-borne laser communication terminal applied to space dynamic base stations is designed to meet the demand for bi-directional transmission of 5G signal laser carriers in space between airships. The experimental results show that the blimp-borne laser communication terminal achieves an overall technical index of capture probability is better than 98%, the average capture time is 5s, the tracking accuracy is better than 6–15 μrad, the communication rate is 2.5 Gbps and BER is 1E-7. In order to realize the real-time evaluation of the performance of laser communication system under the turbulent channel and guide the research of anti-turbulence fading method, a real-time test method of communication channel turbulence characteristics based on the principle of light intensity scintillation is proposed. And the real-time test of turbulence characteristics of airship inclined link and the horizontal link is completed. The research results play a positive role in promoting the development of 5G mobile technology and space optical communication technology.

Summary: Here, we present a protocol to construct artificial lipid droplets to study the binding affinity of lipid droplet-associated proteins. We provide procedures to construct adiposomes and prepare recombinant lipid droplet-associated proteins. Then we describe approaches to measure the number density of perilipin 2 on natural lipid droplets, construct artificial lipid droplets, and determine the binding affinity of perilipin 2 on artificial lipid droplets. This protocol can be adapted to determine the binding properties of various lipid droplet-associated proteins.For complete details on the use and execution of this protocol, please refer to Ma et al. Abstract Background The drug resistance and the virologic failure of antiretroviral therapy (ART) are quite severe in Liangshan. A better understanding of the virologic failure of ART and the HIV-1 transmission network dynamics is essential for the surveillance and prevention of HIV. Here, we analyzed the HIV-1 CRF07_BC strain genetic transmission networks and their associated factors among people living with HIV-1 (PLWH) who had virologic failure of ART by using close genetic links. Methods The drug-resistant mutations were determined using the Stanford University HIV Drug Resistance Database. HIV-1 pol genes sequences were used for phylogenetic and genotypic drug resistance analysis. The genetic transmission networks were performed by comparing sequences, constructing the phylogenetic tree, calculating the pairwise distance, and visualizing the network. Results A total of 1050 PLWH with CRF07_BC pol sequences were finally identified and included in the genetic transmission network analysis from 2016 to 2017. Of the 1050 CRF07_BC pol sequences, 346 (32.95%) fell into clusters at a genetic distance of 0.006, resulting in 137 clusters ranging in size from 2 to 40 individuals. Subjects who were widowed or divorced were less likely to form a genetic transmission network (adjusted OR: 0.50), while subjects who had shared a needle ≥ five times were more likely to form a network (adjusted OR: 1.88). Conclusions The genetic transmission networks revealed the complex transmission pattern, highlighting the urgent need for transmission monitoring of virologic failure of ART and selection of more effective therapeutic regimens to promote viral suppression.

The data transmission between 5G floating base stations will be an important application area of the free space optical (FSO) link, but the problem of atmospheric disturbance will directly affect the application effect. An atmospheric turbulence suppression algorithm based on avalanche photodiode adaptive gain control (APDAGC) for the laser transmission terminal was proposed to suppress atmospheric turbulence. The given design mechanism and experimental results demonstrate its function to improve the performance of FSO. When APDAGC is over 1 km FSO, the variance of intensity fluctuation is lowered from 0.046 to 0.009, with the bit error rate reduced from 4.82E-6 to 1E-12. Comparatively, as APDAGC is over 6.5 km FSO, the variance of intensity fluctuation is decreased from 1.767 to 0.376, with the bit error rate varying from 4.6E-2 to 2.4E-4. Moreover, it was used for the first FSO transmission of 5G floating base station signals on an airship platform.
