Abstract

Simulative target generators are needed for testing and calibrating various radar systems. The generator in this study discriminates the transmitting frequency from a radar and simulates parameters like target range, range rate, and atmospheric attenuation using the digital RF memory technique. The simulative target echo is then sent to the radar for testing and evaluation. This paper proposes a novel architecture for controlling the digital RF memory so it continually writes ADC data to the memory and reads it for the DAC with increasing one step address in order to control the delay of target range in a simple way. The target echo is programmed according to various preprogrammed scenarios and is generated in real time using a wireless local area network (LAN). To analyze the detected and generated target information easily, the system times for the radar and simulative target generator are synchronized using a global positioning system (GPS).

Abstract

PurposeThis paper aims to present a simulated annealing (SA) algorithm to search the optimal solution of reliability‐redundancy allocation problems (RRAP) with nonlinear resource constraints.Design/methodology/approachThe developed SA algorithm is coded in C++ and is applied to reliability design problems which include the series system (P1(a) and P1(b)), the series‐parallel system (P2), and the complex (bridge) system (P3). The numerical experiments are executed on an IBM‐PC compatible with a Pentium IV 2.0 GHz. The results are compared with those of previous studies.FindingsThe SA algorithm can find better solutions comparable to the previous studies in all problems except the problem P1(b). The difference on the order of 10−4 between the best and worst for all problems indicates good solution convergence of the SA algorithm. Note that the CPU times for these problems are within a few seconds by Pentium IV 2.0 GHz (P1(a) =2.78 sec, P1(b) =3.37 sec, P2=1.38 sec, and P3=1.40 sec).Originality/valueThe application of the SA is expanded to the RRAP, which can help reliability engineers design the system reliability.

Abstract

This paper considers the series-parallel redundant reliability problem where each subsystem has multiple component choices. The subsystems are characterized by their reliability and resources such as cost and volume. If resource constraints comprise nonlinear functions, the problem becomes an NP-hard problem of combinatorial optimization problems. In this paper, a simulated annealing (SA) algorithm which determines the maximal reliability of series-parallel system configuration subject to the resources is proposed. To show its effectiveness, several test problems are experimented and the results are compared with those of previous studies.

Abstract

Business process should support the execution of collaboration process with agility and flexibility through the integration of enterprise inner or outer application and human resources from the collaborative workflow view.Although the dependency of enterprise activities to the automated system has been increasing, human role is as important as ever.In the workflow modelling this human role is emphasized and the structure to control human error by analysing decision-making itself is needed.Also, through the collaboration of activities agile and effective communication should be constructed, eventually by the combination and coordination of activities to the aimed process the product quality should be improved.This paper classifies human errors can be occurred in collaborative workflow by applying GEMS(Generic Error Modelling System) to control them, and suggests human error control method through hybrid based modelling as well.On this base collaborative workflow modeling tool is designed and implemented. Using this modelling methodology it is possible to workflow modeling could be supported considering human characteristics has a tendency of human error to be controlled.

Abstract

With the application development environment rapidly changing, the design of an interface that supports the complex interactions between humans and computers is required. In addition, profound knowledge of various fields is required to cover the requirements of different customers. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest an interface design technique that considers the cohesion-rate in each objects of user interface. To accomplish this, specific and detailed models to embody the user interface are presented on the basis of the following classification: 1) event object model, 2) task object model, 3) transaction object model, 4) form object model. If this detailed modeling work is performed, the visual cohesion of the prototype user interface can be improved and, on this basis, even unskilled designers can construct an improved user interface. EJB, providing specification for development and deployment of component based application, permits distributed development as a central element of J2EE environment that automatically manages transaction management, persistence, and concurrency control, which are the most complicated components in an enterprise environment. In this paper, we aim to resolve DAOs transaction logic complexity and performance reduction of components in the EJB based legacy system. Abstract

The mobile video player that supports software decoders has a different structure from the video player that plays videos based on a hardware decoder. Therefore, this paper elucidates the design a mobile video player consisting of a network manager, displayer, event processor, data structure processor, and controller based on research regarding hardware restriction, a software development platform, and streaming implementation method, all of which were applied before implementing the video player at the WIPI platform. The mobile video player implemented based on the designs investigated during this research can be used as a tool to test function and the possibility of normal operation of a software decoder that targets an encoded visual, and also can be used as a tool to develop an improved software decoder. Abstract

The Unified Modeling Language(UML) provides rich notations for representing and analyzing architecture and behaviors of systems. Among these notations, UML activity diagram is well-known for describing systems' dynamic behaviors, and it is useful to model business process and workflow. Currently, the UML semantics is informally defined in plain text and it is often unclear, ambiguous or it contains contradictory assertions. It is difficult to present the precise semantics which are taken as important in workflow system with the guide provided by OMG to the UML activity diagram. In this thesis, the alternative approach of using Abstract State Machines to formalize UML activity diagrams is presented. We propose the workflow modeling methodology by applying ASM semantics to the activity diagram. Abstract

With the rapid growth of network technology, two or more products from different vendors are integrated and interact with each other to perform a certain function in the latest systems. However, there are cases where products from different vendors or even from the same vendor often do not interoperate properly. Thus, interoperability testing is considered as an essential aspect for correctness of integrated systems. Interoperability testing tests the ability of software and hardware on different machines from different vendors to share data. Existing researches about interoperability testing are usually focused on an optimal test scenario generation applying graph and automata theory. Most of these researches model communication system behavior using EFSM(Extended Finite State Machines) and use EFSM as an input of test scenario generation algorithm. There are many studies on systematic and optimal test cast generation algorithms using EFSM, but in these researches, the study for generating EFSM model, which is a foundation of test scenario generation, is not sufficient. This paper proposes an EFSM generation technique, which is a foundation of test scenario generation for more complete interoperability testing based on use case specification. Abstract

When we analyze the business domain, we have to decide what business concepts are to be encapsulated into a component and find what business concepts are to be built by using a reuse component. Also, as a component is reused in the form of a black-box, the reuser must have detailed information about the component, such as the functional and non-functional performance which is necessary to reuse or integrate. So, we will propose a formal approach to design a robust component. First, we analyze a business domain by using Z and category theory. Second, we extract the components and the interfaces from previous analysis results. Lastly, we add component contracts(functional and non-functional performances) to the result. We specify business concept based on DbC which is used broadly to specify the behavior of an interface in an object-oriented area. Also, we will define rules for extraction of components and component contracts from specification. Specially, we will use category theory to analyze the relations between components.
