EMR2/ADGRE2 is a human myeloid-restricted adhesion G protein-coupled receptor critically implicated in vibratory urticaria, a rare type of allergy caused by vibration-induced mast cell activation. In addition, EMR2 is also highly expressed by monocyte/macrophages and has been linked to neutrophil migration and activation. Despite these findings, little is known of EMR2-mediated signaling and its role in myeloid biology. In this report, we show that activation of EMR2 via a receptor-specific monoclonal antibody promotes the differentiation of human THP-1 monocytic cell line and induces the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators, including IL-8, TNF-α, and MMP-9. Using specific signaling inhibitors and siRNA knockdowns, biochemical and functional analyses reveal that the EMR2-mediated signaling is initiated by Gα16, followed by the subsequent activation of Akt, extracellular signal-regulated kinase, c-Jun N-terminal kinase, and nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells. Our results demonstrate a functional role for EMR2 in the differentiation and inflammatory activation of human monocytic cells and provide potential targets for myeloid cell-mediated inflammatory disorders.

27th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 3896-3900, The BIPV (Building integrated Photovoltaic system) case study has been analyzed the power performance on the four different types of PV module for the net zero energy research project in Hsinchu, Taiwan. This study used pvsys software to simulate the four different types of PV module and combined the real power performance on the different building surfaces. The total PV system capacities of the four different types of PV module were 8.04kWp, which had been installed on the roof, wall, windows and shading system. This paper used the DMY (Daily Mean Yields) and PR(Performance Ratio) to analysis the PV systems performance during full year research in June 2011. The DMY values at the roof, wall, windows and sun awning were 2.70, 0.92, 1.27, 1.86 (kWh/kWp/day) respectively. The System Performance Ratio at roof, wall, windows and sun awning were81.69%, 66.46%, 72.55%, 56.72% respectively. The total average error between the simulation by PVsys and the monitored of the PV power performance is around 0.76% to 11.16%.

This paper presents application experiences of real-time simulation (RTS) techniques for harmonic and flicker studies of an industrial power system, where the system and nonlinear loads are properly modeled. A PC-cluster-based real-time parallel simulator is implemented under MATLAB/SIMULINK, where the studied system consists of an ac electric arc furnace, dc and ac motor-drive loads, and the static var compensator. Guidelines for model partition of the studied system and the solver settings under an RTS environment are reported. In addition, the most commonly used offline simulation with variable-step solver and the actual field measurements are included for comparison. Results indicate that the RTS achieves satisfactory solution accuracy within much less execution time and can be applied for more complicated studies such as installing new nonlinear loads with different levels of model complexities or designing/tuning mitigation devices of power-quality disturbances, where the repeated time-consuming analysis is required.

25th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition / 5th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion, 6-10 September 2010, Valencia, Spain; 4890-4892, Three years operation of BIPV case study aimed to the environmental control of the architectural design on landscape, which estimated the usability between human behavior and renewable energy on the design management. The BIPV project was the landmark of the local city hall, when it was built in Tainan Country in 2005, and it was the first BIPV research model in Taiwan. The multifunction covered three aspects: renewable energy usage, green site planning and underground parking lot. The BIPV working system w3as a hybrid system, which used 219 pieces PV modules by glass-to-glass type, and had total PV capacity of 24.09kWp. In the PV renewable energy, the DMY data was from 1.11 to 1.74 (kWh/day/kWp) and the PR value was form 36.6%-37.5%. For consideration of each evaluated factors, the architectural esthetics and energy design of the BIPV research case was not perfectly balance in the project. The citizens could accept this modern urban park as a friendly design for usage. But the PV power efficiency, the excessive design and inexact distribution decreased its power performance too much. Ultimately, The research presented an intensely interesting data for Taiwan BIPV development between the PV industry and architectural design.
