Whereas developing meaningful connections with students has long been documented as critical for promoting classroom engagement, teachers' differing motives for building relationships with students remain underexplored. This study examined teachers' social achievement goals from a multidimensional perspective in relation to teachers' self-efficacy, teacher-student relationships, and perceived classroom engagement. Results from practicing K-12 teachers (N = 154) from across Canada showed three distinct goal orientations including social mastery-approach, social mastery-avoidance, and social ability goals (combining social ability-approach and social ability-avoidance goals). Teachers who aimed to develop better social skills with students (social mastery-approach goals) reported higher self-efficacy, better relationships with students, and greater classroom engagement. In contrast, social goal orientations focused on not losing connections with students (social mastery-avoidance goals) or being well-liked (social ability goals) did not correspond with self-efficacy or classroom outcomes. Implications concerning integrative pedagogies and growth mind-sets pertaining to relationship building were discussed.

Increasing research on teacher professional development (TPD) has found teachers' self-reflection to be key for improving teaching effectiveness. Although video methodology, as often used in TPD, provides crucial insight concerning situated learning, teachers are often reticent to participate in TPD protocols due to discomfort over being videotaped. This longitudinal study explored emotion-related behaviors by assessing the nonverbal expressions exhibited by teachers during a 1-year video-based TPD program highlighting salient contributors to productive classroom dialogue. Six teachers were observed regarding bodily motion, facial expression, and eye contact, with results obtained across four workshops coded according to five types of emotions. The emotions of shame, defensiveness, and distraction appeared more often than did laughter and surprise, with the negative emotions found to decrease over time. This study highlights the importance of longitudinally evaluating teachers' emotional expressions during video-based TPD activities and continued efforts to encourage teacher participation in these pedagogical training opportunities.

In patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), the alteration of immune responses in peripheral blood remains unclear. In this study, we established an immune cell profile for patients with NPC and used flow cytometry and machine learning (ML) to identify the characteristics of this profile. After isolation of circulating leukocytes, the proportions of 104 immune cell subsets were compared between NPC group and the healthy control group (HC). Data obtained from the immune cell profile were subjected to ML training to differentiate between the immune cell profiles of the NPC and HC groups. We observed that subjects in the NPC group presented higher proportions of T cells, memory B cells, short‐lived plasma cells, IgG‐positive B cells, regulatory T cells, MHC II+ T cells, CTLA4+ T cells and PD‐1+ T cells than subjects in the HC group, indicating weaker and compromised cellular and humoral immune responses. ML revealed that monocytes, PD‐1+ CD4 T cells, memory B cells, CTLA4+ CD4 Treg cells and PD‐1+ CD8 T cells were strongly contributed to the difference in immune cell profiles between the NPC and HC groups. Simple Summary: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains one of the leading causes of cancer mortality. Treatment of HCC remains challenging, especially for those with advanced stages or those with postoperative recurrence. Molecular research of signaling pathways to afford new options of treatments is urgent. Moreover, among the various signaling pathways, the Sonic hedgehog (SHH) signaling pathway is implicated in multiple aspects of HCC, including cancer development, growth, invasiveness, recurrence, metastasis, the tumor microenvironment, and the maintenance of its cancer stem cells. The SHH signaling pathway also contributes to the resistance of HCC to chemotherapy, target therapy, and radiation therapy. This narrative review of the update studies reappraises the roles of SHH signaling in HCC. A deeper understanding of the SHH signaling pathway is crucial. It may provide more insights into the regulatory processes to establish novel treatments for HCC. HCC remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related death globally. The main challenges in treatments of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily arise from high rates of postoperative recurrence and the limited efficacy in treating advanced-stage patients. Various signaling pathways involved in HCC have been reported. Among them, the Sonic hedgehog (SHH) signaling pathway is crucial. The presence of SHH ligands is identified in approximately 60% of HCC tumor tissues, including tumor nests. PTCH-1 and GLI-1 are detected in more than half of HCC tissues, while GLI-2 is found in over 84% of HCC tissues. The SHH signaling pathway (including canonical and non-canonical) is involved in different aspects of HCC, including hepatocarcinogenesis, tumor growth, tumor invasiveness, progression, and migration. The SHH signaling pathway also contributes to recurrence, metastasis, modulation of the cancer microenvironment, and sustaining cancer stem cells. It also affects the resistance of HCC cells to chemotherapy, target therapy, and radiotherapy. Reappraisal of the roles of the SHH signaling pathway in HCC may trigger some novel therapies for HCC. The magnetic nanoferrites (Fe3O4, CoFe2O4, and NiFe2O4) were synthesized via hydrothermal method using an aloe vera plant extract solution. Magnetic nanoferrites were characterized using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), field emission electron microscope (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray photon spectroscopy (XPS). Cytotoxicity was obtained using the water-soluble tetrazolium salt (WST) assay. X-ray diffraction analysis also demonstrated that the size range of the nanoferrites exhibited average diameters of 6–28 nm and also exhibited high crystallinity. Results showed that all the metallic nanoparticles (NPs) are magnetic with saturation values of Fe = 52 emu/g, Co = 33 emu/g, and Ni = 20.43 emu/g. The magnetic nanoferrites exhibited a high cell viability rate at high concentrations and as shown from the optical images of the cells signifies their nontoxic and biocompatibility property. From SEM and TEM, the spherical structure was noticeable and the particle size is also in accordance with XRD. The chemical states for each NP also confirmed the successful synthesis of each nanoferrite. Not to mention, the heating capabilities of the nanoferrites were investigated and showed significant temperature increase of 6 °C–8 °C and acceptable specific absorption rate (SAR) values. Purpose: To report a Rathke's cleft cyst (RCC) presenting as unilateral incomplete cavernous sinus syndrome and disc edema Method: Case report with literature review Results: We present an 18-year-old girl who has been experiencing intermittent binocular diplopia for 1 month. Upon examination, the best corrected visual acuity was 20/20 (OU). Pronounced limitation of ocular motility with ptosis in her right eye was noted. Her pupil constricted normally. However, a relative afferent pupillary defect in the right eye was observed. Fundus examination showed disc edema in the right eye without peripapillary hemorrhage. Moreover, her thyroid function and acetylcholine receptor antibody levels were normal. Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed a 1.6-cm mass at the suprasellar fossa and optic nerve sheath of right eye enhancement. She underwent transsphenoidal surgery, and pus-like formation was noted. Pathological findings were consistent with RCCs. After the cyst was removed, her ocular motility remarkably improved and ptosis subsided. Conclusion: A case of RCC presenting as multiple cranial nerve palsy was reported. RCCs are benign and usually asymptomatic. Symptomatic RCCs often manifest as headache or visual problems, such as reduced visual acuity and visual field defect. Multiple cranial nerve involvement is uncommon and indicates inflammation or compression of the cavernous sinus and optic nerve. Neuropathy may resolve after surgery; therefore, surgery is indicated for symptomatic RCCs. Further, RCC should be included in the differential diagnosis of patients with disc edema.
