Purpose: To gain a better understanding of the assessment practices currently implemented by Quebec physical education teachers regarding reporting and grading. Method: Exploratory mixed-methods study using semistructured interviews (n = 13), interviews to the double (n = 12), and a questionnaire (n = 164) with elementary and high school physical education teachers. Results: Participants use different strategies to report student performance. When grading, their strategy is to combine a mathematical approach with their professional judgment. They often consider all the marks taken during a learning and assessment situation and not only those taken at the end of it. Discussion/Conclusions: The main finding of this study is that teachers' reporting and grading practices are subjective. We discuss how our results show the subjectivity in teachers' practices and possible explanations for it, and then conclude by trying to understand how to make assessment in physical education more objective. ChatGPT and generative artificial intelligence (Gen-AI) are transforming firms and supply chains. However, the empirical literature reporting the benefits, challenges, and outlook of these nascent technologies in operations and supply chain management (OSCM) is limited. This study surveys current projects and perceptions of these technologies in US (n = 119) and UK (n = 181) supply chains. We found that projects range from proof-of-concept to full implementation, with a main focus on operational gains, such as improved customer satisfaction, cost minimisation, and process efficiencies. The main challenges concern data, technological and organisational issues. Expected benefits are dominated by cost savings and enhanced customer experience, but also include increased automation and sustainability. Industries were found to cluster around six groups according to perceived benefits and implementation challenges. Our findings contribute to the emerging literature on Gen-AI use in OSCM, and to management practice by mapping the benefits, challenges, outlook, and maturity level of Gen-AI projects in supply chains. The practice of information technology (IT) in academic libraries is changing rapidly, not only with new and evolving developments in the technologies themselves but also with the organization and management of IT at both the library and institution levels. This study presents the results of an online survey of Association of Research Libraries (ARL) academic library members to identify the biggest challenges they perceive in the area of information technology organization and management. (1) Background: A significant proportion of cancer survivors report experiencing a cognitive fog that affects their ability to think coherently and quickly, and reason with clarity. This has been referred to as cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI). CRCI has extensive impacts on the daily lives of people living with or beyond cancer, including occupational, social, and psychological functioning. Oncology health professionals report feeling under-resourced to effectively assess the needs of an individual with CRCI and then provide optimal care and referral. (2) Methods: The objective of this project is to develop and provide an initial validation of the first purpose-built unmet needs assessment for CRCI: the Unmet Needs Assessment of Cancer-Related Cognitive Impairment Impact (COG-IMPACT). We will use a multiple-stage, co-design, mixed-methods approach to develop and provide an initial validation of the COG-IMPACT. (3) Results: The primary anticipated result of this research is the production of the COG-IMPACT, the first purpose-built unmet needs assessment for CRCI. The assessment could be used by health professionals to understand the unmet needs and facilitate optimal care and referral for cancer survivors, by survivors to elucidate their supportive needs and advocate for their care, and by researchers to examine the correlates of unmet needs relating to CRCI, as well as how best to support people with CRCI.

BackgroundSmartphone apps may provide an opportunity to deliver mental health resources and interventions in a scalable and cost-effective manner. However, young people from marginalized and underserved groups face numerous and unique challenges to accessing, engaging with, and benefiting from these apps.ObjectiveThis study aims to better understand the acceptability (ie, perceived usefulness and satisfaction with an app) and feasibility (ie, the extent to which an app was successfully used) of mental health apps for underserved young people. A secondary aim was to establish whether adaptations can be made to increase the accessibility and inclusivity of apps for these groups.MethodsWe conducted 2 sequential studies, consisting of a systematic literature review of mental health apps for underserved populations followed by a qualitative study with underserved young male participants (n=20; age: mean 19). Following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines, an electronic search of 5 databases was conducted in 2021. The search yielded 18,687 results, of which 14 articles met the eligibility criteria.ResultsThe included studies comprised a range of groups, including those affected by homelessness, having physical health conditions, living in low- and middle-income countries, and those with sexual and gender minority identities. Establishing and maintaining user engagement was a pervasive challenge across mental health apps and populations, and dropout was a reported problem among nearly all the included studies. Positive subjective reports of usability, satisfaction, and acceptability were insufficient to determine users' objective engagement.ConclusionsDespite the significant amount of funding directed to the development of mental health apps, juxtaposed with only limited empirical evidence to support their effectiveness, few apps have been deliberately developed or adapted to meet the heterogeneous needs of marginalized and underserved young people. Before mental health apps are scaled up, a greater understanding is needed of the types of services that more at-risk young people and those in limited-resource settings prefer (eg, standard vs digital) followed by more rigorous and consistent demonstrations of acceptability, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness. Adopting an iterative participatory approach by involving young people in the development and evaluation process is an essential step in enhancing the adoption of any intervention, including apps, in "real-world" settings and will support future implementation and sustainability efforts to ensure that marginalized and underserved groups are reached.Trial registrationPROSPERO CRD42021254241; https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/display_record.php?RecordID=254241.

Climate change has rapidly altered marine ecosystems and is expected to continue to push systems and species beyond historical baselines into novel conditions. Projecting responses of organisms and populations to these novel environmental conditions often requires extrapolations beyond observed conditions, challenging the predictive limits of statistical modeling capabilities. Bioenergetics modeling provides the mechanistic basis for projecting climate change effects on marine living resources in novel conditions, has a long history of development, and has been applied widely to fish and other taxa. We provide our perspective on 4 opportunities that will advance the ability of bioenergetics-based models to depict changes in the productivity and distribution of fishes and other marine organisms, leading to more robust projections of climate impacts. These are (1) improved depiction of bioenergetics processes to derive realistic individual-level response(s) to complex changes in environmental conditions, (2) innovations in scaling individual-level bioenergetics to project responses at the population and food web levels, (3) more realistic coupling between spatial dynamics and bioenergetics to better represent the local- to regional-scale differences in the effects of climate change on the spatial distributions of organisms, and (4) innovations in model validation to ensure that the next generation of bioenergetics-based models can be used with known and sufficient confidence. Our focus on specific opportunities will enable critical advancements in bioenergetics modeling and position the modeling community to make more accurate and robust projections of the effects of climate change on individuals, populations, food webs, and ecosystems.

This research aimed to determine the level of implementation, and challenges of K-12 program in public secondary schools of District VI, Quezon City, to serve as a basis for an action plan. The study used the descriptive survey method of research. It used a survey questionnaire in a checklist form to gather the data from two groups of respondents: the teachers, and the school leaders/ coordinators. Based on the findings, it was found out that the level of implementation of the K-12 program was high in terms of instructional materials, school facilities and equipment, and teachers' preparedness as assessed by the two groups of respondents. In addition, there was a significant difference between the assessment of the two groups of respondents on the level of K-12 implementation in terms of instructional materials, but no significant difference in terms of school facilities and equipment, and teachers' preparedness. Moreso, the challenges encountered by the teachers with regard to the K-12 program implementation were a) congested most essential learning competencies, b) time allotment is not enough, c) lack of additional training, d) the student-teacher ratio is not proportional and, e) facilities are lacking like advanced laboratories for experiments. On the other hand, the group of school leaders/ coordinators encountered challenges as follows; a) lack of technology-based equipment for advanced subjects, b) insufficient number of training days, and c) time allotment is not enough to cover all the lessons. Employing a mixed-method (quantitative-qualitative) research design that involved random assignment and purposive selection, this study delved into the effect of the Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge (TPACK) Model on the Academic Performance in English of Grade 11 students and the challenges of its use as assessed by the teachers. The qualitative data collected from the interview were translated, coded, categorized, and given specific themes. Results from the experimentation divulged that the group exposed to the TPACK had more students who got passing grades. Hence, the TPACK model showed promising chances of improving students' academic performance. Four themes emerged concerning the challenges of the use of the TPACK Model as assessed by the teachers namely: Connectivity/Internet Issues and Unavailability of Facilities, Students' Limited Knowledge of the Technology and Unavailability of Devices, Teacher's Limited Knowledge of the Technology, and Teacher's Interest/Time and Age. Lastly, findings showed a significant difference in students' academic performance in English, particularly in the experimental group exposed to the TPACK. Hence, it was noted that the TPACK model can help teachers teach English and other learning areas to improve students' academic performance. To this effect, the TPACK model is recommended in teaching English and other learning areas to supplement and enhance teaching methodologies. In achieving technology's significant role in teaching and learning, support facilities and development programs for teachers' capacity building and upskilling that will improve technology integration were humbly suggested. This study aimed to find out the Problems, Challenges, and coping Mechanisms of the Select Students and Asaatidz of Ja'miatul Waqf in the aftermath of the Marawi Siege. It attempted to find answers to the following queries: (1) what is the Demographic Profile of the respondents in terms of Age, Sex, Civil Status, Educational Attainment, Ethnic Affiliation, and Monthly Income? (2) What are the Problems and Challenges Confronting the selected Assatidz and Students in the aftermath of the Marawi Siege in terms of Psycho-Social, Living Condition, Financial, and Health Conditions? (3) What are the Coping Mechanisms of the Selected Assatidz and Students of Ja'miatul Waqf in the aftermath of the Marawi siege in terms of Education, Adaptation, Acceptance, Open-Mindedness, and satisfaction of Basic Needs? The study utilized the Inferential research design that made use of both descriptive qualitative and correlation quantitative approaches in the interpretation of data gathered as well as information regarding the Problem, Challenges, and Coping Mechanism of the selected Assatidz and Students of Ja'miatul Waqf as an aftermath of Marawi Siege. The principal aim of employing this method is to describe the nature of the situation as it exists at the time of the study and to explore the Problems, Challenges, and Coping mechanisms of the respondents. The 100 respondents were the 10 Selected Assatidz, 40 College Students (Khuliyyah), and 50 High School Students (Thanawe). The respondents were all based in Marawi City. Further, statistical tools, such as the chi-square independent test, the frequency and percentage distribution, and the measure of central tendency (weighted mean), were utilized in order to achieve the objectives of this study. The significant findings of this study are the following: (1) Majority of the respondents are Meranaw females aged between 18 to 22 years old and some high school students. Most of them are single with monthly income below 5,000 or none at all. (2) The respondent's responses to the problems, challenges, and coping mechanisms in terms of psycho--social, living conditions, finances, and health presented by the researchers are shown in the table below. The respondents agreed on the Psycho-social and financial, while they neither agreed nor disagreed on the living conditions and health that the statement presented by the researcher is the problems and challenges that they faced after the Marawi siege. On the other hand, they agreed on the psycho-social, living conditions, and health, while they neither agreed nor disagreed that the statements presented by the researcher are their coping mechanism toward problems and challenges. (3) Based on the computed Square Independent Test, there is a significant relationship between the problem and challenges towards their coping mechanism in terms of psychosocial, living conditions, finances, and health. The COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on schools all over the world. The new norm in academia was a reduction in teaching and learning activities. Teachers around the world were challenged to come up with innovative ways to help students during the COVID-19 pandemic. This phenomenological study aimed to understand the challenges faced by newly hired teachers during the limited face-to-face classes for the school year 2022-2023. Data gathered from participants may provide useful insight on how educators navigate the phenomenon despite being unprepared. The study utilized a qualitative research design using a phenomenological approach with twenty (20) purposefully selected newly hired teachers who experienced the limited face-to-face class. Moreover, the newly hired teachers were from public schools, both in the elementary and high school departments. They underwent in-depth interviews and focus group discussions (FGD) using the validated research instrument. The results of the study were recorded based on the experiences of the teachers, including the challenges they encountered. Emergent themes were formulated: Rejoicing in the Reopening of Classes, Anticipating Challenges, Collaborating with Iniatives, Adhering the Protocol, Meticulous in Tasking and Efficient Communication. On the coping mechanisms, teachers showed strength guided by mission and focus on purpose. Themes were formulated, such as Requesting for Assistance, Receiving Compliments, Sharing of Commitment, Emanating Positivity and Growth, Open Communication and Developing Success. Finally, as to their insights, notable emergent themes were formulated as follows: Receptive to Feedback, Valuing Responsibilities, Accepting Imperfections, Proficiency in Decision Making, Possessing Empathy and Kindness, Enhancing Instructional Methods. The purpose of this study was to discover and explore the experiences, struggles, coping mechanisms, and insights of workers online on the importance of the English language in their work. The data were gathered using an In-depth Interview and were analyzed using thematic analysis. Participants were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Furthermore, the researcher selected the participants based on the following cases: (a) math tutor; (b) virtual assistant; (c) ESL teacher; (d) call center agent; and, (d) cybora. As part of the ethical consideration, the identities of the five participants were kept confidential and anonymous. The findings revealed that the struggles of workers online were the lack of vocabulary, accent, spelling, culture, and self-confidence. The coping mechanisms of the participants were watching English movies and reading books, practice speaking, reflecting on the negative feedback, learning other culture, and using AI tools. Insights divulged in the study were students have to keep practicing, being confident enough, need to consider other culture, consider receivers accent, importance of little things to learn difficult one, and develop learning inside and outside the school. The primary objective of this study was to explore the stories and experiences of English teachers shifting careers. The study was conducted in Davao de Oro. A multiple case study was employed and purposive sampling was utilized in selecting the three participants. Moreover, the researcher adhered to the following criteria: (a) Who are willing to share their stories (b) Who graduated as BSED English major (c) Who are passers of LET (d) Who shifted careers. As part of the ethical consideration, the identities of the three participants were kept confidential and anonymous. The findings of the study revealed that the experiences encountered by the participants related to teaching were Worthwhile, Enjoyable, and Tricky and complicated. The challenges encountered by the participants related to teaching were Time management, and Catching students' Interest. The reasons of moving away from English teaching were Health Condition, Salary Wise, and to have stable job. The study is specifically concerned with the beginning school paper advisers who engaged in campus journalism without significant knowledge in handling the role and the lack of experience and awareness of circumstances like school paper management and competitive journalism. Consequently, it aims to determine the best practices employed by the more experienced school paper advisers in the province - how they select their writers, conduct trainings, and manage in school paper production. This study utilized the qualitative method of research using phenomenology, and participants were selected via purposive sampling, which trimmed down to just seven participants. Findings revealed that experienced school paper advisers select their potential writers mainly through a systematic screening process, recommendations and cherry picking best students in the campus. Some advisers found it hard to select students due to conflicting responsibilities and inclinations. Moreover, writers are trained through a rigid process while other advisers opted to invite resource speakers for the students to gather relevant knowledge in campus journalism. However, most advisers complain about the lack of funds and equipment to sustain the program; as a result, they opt to expend own resources in compensating the needs from students' meals and snacks to giving incentives and honoraria. In addition, some advisers experience stressful moments in paper production, especially that they had to regularly review writers' outputs; others have to rely to other person with much experience in layouting, so they had to shell out money to accomplish it. Despite these challenges, advisers believe that everything will be worthwhile after seeing their product that comes from dedication and hard work. Therefore, advisers adapted strategies in fulfilling the program to sustain, and the mechanisms they applied to their student writers would also hinge on the school environment, community support, and personal qualities that contribute to the success in their program. As a recommendation, it all goes back to the implementation of RA 7079 or the Campus Journalism Act, particularly with regards to the allocation of funds for campus journalism, to somehow enhance the quality of school paper advisers through seminar-workshops, partnerships, cost-reduction strategies, and student-led initiatives. Objective: With increasing international migration, societies have become increasingly diverse worldwide. Although neuropsychological assessment is influenced by several diversity characteristics, language barriers have repeatedly been identified as one of the main challenges to cross-cultural neuropsychological assessment in migrant populations. Importantly, neuropsychologists are often required to conduct interpreter-mediated neuropsychological assessments without any graduate training or continuing education on the topic. To address this gap, the objective of this paper is to provide guidelines for interpreter-mediated neuropsychological assessment. Method: A European Consortium on Cross-Cultural Neuropsychology (ECCroN) task force conducted a conceptual literature review and provided recommendations for good practice and working principles to inform the preparation and administration of interpreter-mediated assessments. Results: ECCroN takes the position that it is the responsibility of neuropsychologists, as well as the institutions or organizations that employ them, to ensure effective communication between themselves and their patients. This may be accomplished by preparing for an interpreter-mediated assessment by engaging an appropriate interpreter, which in most circumstances will be a professional in-person interpreter speaking the same language(s) or dialect(s) as the patient, and considering practical, language, and cross-cultural issues. During the assessment, reasonable steps should be taken to proactively manage the proceedings and adopt a communication style that facilitates effective patient-directed communication, and when interpreting test data and determining formulations and diagnoses, the limitations of interpreter-mediated assessment should be carefully considered. Conclusion: Adhering to the provided recommendations and working principles may help neuropsychologists provide competent interpreter-mediated neuropsychological assessments to linguistically diverse patients. To understand the complex nature of heterogeneous psychiatric disorders, scientists and clinicians are required to employ a wide range of clinical, endophenotypic, neuroimaging, genomic, and environmental data to understand the biological mechanisms of psychiatric illness before this knowledge is applied into clinical setting. Machine learning (ML) is an automated process that can detect patterns from large multidimensional datasets and can supersede conventional statistical methods as it can detect both linear and non-linear relationships. Due to this advantage, ML has potential to enhance our understanding, improve diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders. The current review provides an in-depth examination of, and offers practical guidance for, the challenges encountered in the application of ML models in psychiatric research and clinical practice. These challenges include the curse of dimensionality, data quality, the 'black box' problem, hyperparameter tuning, external validation, class imbalance, and data representativeness. These challenges are particularly critical in the context of psychiatry as it is expected that researchers will encounter them during the stages of ML model development and deployment. We detail practical solutions and best practices to effectively mitigate the outlined challenges. Since teachers are the most responsible ones for integrating technology into their online teaching practices, understanding their attitudes and beliefs is of great importance. This study thus investigated pre-service English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers' attitudes and perceived challenges of teaching online language courses. To this end, a questionnaire with three categories on teachers' values and attitudes, beliefs, and communication self-efficacy and one on perceived online teaching challenges with five categories of attitudinal, pedagogical, interactional, supportive, and technical were administered to 100 MA students of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) at Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST). Five open-ended questions were also administered to gain more insight into their attitudes and perceived challenges of online teaching. The results indicated that pre-service teachers were interested in online teaching and believed that online teaching could help learners develop their English language knowledge, and that the advances in online information technologies could provide great opportunities for language teaching and learning. The results also revealed that categories on the attitude scale were ranked as communication self-efficacy, teachers' values and attitudes, and their beliefs. Considering perceived challenges of online teaching, Internet connection, lack of teacher professional development courses for effective online teaching, and lack of previous online learning experiences were found to be the most frequent challenges. The dimensions of challenges were hierarchically ranked as technical, pedagogical, interactional, supportive, and attitudinal. Aim: To investigate the potential challenges experienced by cardiac intensive care unit (ICU) nurses in the first out‐of‐bed patient mobilization after open‐heart surgery and propose solutions. Design: A qualitative study design using the descriptive phenomenological approach. Methods: Individual face‐to‐face interviews were conducted via a widely used videoconferencing program between 28 July and 22 October 2022, in the tertiary cardiac ICU of a university hospital. Nurses who had at least 1 year of cardiac ICU experience and actively participating in patient care were included. The COREQ criteria and checklist were followed in this investigation and the data were analysed by using the ATLAS.ti 8.0. Findings: Nurses reported that they experience challenges when mobilizing patients, such as patients' fear, reluctance or resistance; nurses having insufficient experience, strength or lack of team members. Despite these challenges, they highlighted some positive outcomes of mobilization, such as feeling happy, reinforced team communication and nurse–patient relationship. The nurses also suggested some facilitators, such as patient motivation and an explanation of the process. Conclusion: Nurses experience various patient‐related and nurse‐related challenges during the first out‐of‐bed mobilization of the patient after open‐heart surgery. It is recommended that healthcare institutions should implement effective strategies to address the staffing shortages and to support nurse motivation to ensure adequate nursing care. Impact: This study provides valuable insights into the existing literature by examining the potential challenges and strategies of the first out‐of‐bed patient mobilization in the cardiac ICU. It shows that patient education and organizational adaptations are effective ways to overcome the challenges. It also suggests that motivating and informing patients before the mobilization can make the process easier. Moreover, it reveals that successful patient mobilization makes nurses happy, improves team communication and strengthens nurse–patient relationship. Summary: Hybrid foods are made by blending animal‐based and plant‐based ingredients to make food products that are similar to the 100% animal‐based ones. Examples include hybrid meat products such as burgers or minced meat with vegetables or more recently hybrid dairy products such as cheddar cheese with oats. While hybrid meat products have been launched in several countries by both retailers and foodservice outlets, there are very few examples of hybrid meat products still available in the market, such as hybrid nuggets targeting children and hybrid minced meat products. This short viewpoint article covers some of the possible reasons this might be happening, presents examples of successful hybrid food products, discusses the importance of sustainability claims and the potential of hybrid meals.
