Abstract

The Deep Learning (DL) community sees many novel topologies published each year. Achieving high performance on each new topology remains challenging, as each requires some level of manual effort. This issue is compounded by the proliferation of frameworks and hardware platforms. The current approach, which we call "direct optimization", requires deep changes within each framework to improve the training performance for each hardware backend (CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, ASICs) and requires $\mathcal{O}(fp)$ effort; where $f$ is the number of frameworks and $p$ is the number of platforms. While optimized kernels for deep-learning primitives are provided via libraries like Intel Math Kernel Library for Deep Neural Networks (MKL-DNN), there are several compiler-inspired ways in which performance can be further optimized. Building on our experience creating neon (a fast deep learning library on GPUs), we developed Intel nGraph, a soon to be open-sourced C++ library to simplify the realization of optimized deep learning performance across frameworks and hardware platforms. Initially-supported frameworks include TensorFlow, MXNet, and Intel neon framework. Initial backends are Intel Architecture CPUs (CPU), the Intel(R) Nervana Neural Network Processor(R) (NNP), and NVIDIA GPUs. Currently supported compiler optimizations include efficient memory management and data layout abstraction. In this paper, we describe our overall architecture and its core components. In the future, we envision extending nGraph API support to a wider range of frameworks, hardware (including FPGAs and ASICs), and compiler optimizations (training versus inference optimizations, multi-node and multi-device scaling via efficient sub-graph partitioning, and HW-specific compounding of operations).

Abstract

The title CuII macrocyclic complex salt tetra­hydrate, [Cu(C22H46N6O2)](C2H3O2)2·4H2O, sees the metal atom located on a centre of inversion and coordinated within a 4 + 2 (N4O2) tetra­gonally distorted coordination geometry; the N atoms are derived from the macrocycle and the O atoms from weakly associated [3.2048 (15) Å] acetate anions. Further stability to the three-ion aggregate is provided by intra­molecular amine-N—H···O(carboxyl­ate) hydrogen bonds. Hydrogen bonding is also prominent in the mol­ecular packing with amide-N—H···O(amide) inter­actions, leading to eight-membered {···HNCO}2 synthons, amide-N—H···O(water), water-O—H···O(carboxyl­ate) and water-O—H···O(water) hydrogen bonds featuring within the three-dimensional architecture. The calculated Hirshfeld surfaces for the individual components of the asymmetric unit differentiate the water mol­ecules owing to their distinctive supra­molecular association. For each of the anion and cation, H···H contacts predominate (50.7 and 65.2%, respectively) followed by H···O/O···H contacts (44.5 and 29.9%, respectively). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

40. Detection of UTI Pathogen-Killing Properties of Coleusforskohliifrom Tissue Cultured In vitro and Ex vitro Plants

Abstract

Every year, 150 million people become affected, worldwide, by severe forms of multi-drug-resistant urinary tract infections (UTI). Several antibiotics are being tested to combat the diseases but newer types of resistance are emerging every year. This throws the challenge of searching of an alternative source of antibacterial compounds. The present study was conducted to evaluate the antimicrobial activities of in vitro and ex vitro grown plants of Coleusforskohliiagainst twenty MDR strains of UTI bacteria. When methanolic leaf extracts were tested, seventeen among twenty UTI pathogens were found to be sensitive at only 0.75 mg/cup concentration, and three were resistant even at the 6.0 mg/cup concentration. Both the in vitro and ex vitro plants exhibited the highest efficacy against the pathogenic strain of Klebsiella(Isolate no-42285) with the ZI 17.66 ± 0.33 and 18.66 ± 0.57 mm, respectively. Naturally propagated in vivo plants showed significantly low activities compared to those of ex vitro grown plants. In vitro optimal multiplication of 20.4 ± 0.28 shoots per explant was achieved in MS medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/l 6-benzylaminopurine and 0.1 mg/l α-naphthalene acetic acid. A total of 38 and 35 compounds were detected from in vitro and ex vitro plant crude extract, respectively, through GC–MS including thiopene-2-carboxamide, 2-pyrazoline which are known to have potent antimicrobial activity. As both the ex vitro and in vitro plants were found to be highly efficient against most of the UTI pathogens tested, they may serve as a potential source of antimicrobial drug for an alternative therapy.

Abstract

The hydrated clusters of tetrahydroisoquinoline have been investigated by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF), UV-UV hole burning, and IR-UV double-resonance spectroscopy in a seeded supersonic jet. Clusters of different sizes and isomeric structures have different 0-0 transitions (origins) in the LIF spectrum. UV-UV hole burning spectroscopy has been used to identify different cluster species and their vibrational modes. The structures of the clusters have been predicted by comparing the observed OH and NH frequencies in the IR-UV double-resonance spectra with the results calculated at different levels of sophistication. It is found that the water molecules form linear and six- and eight-membered cyclic H-bonded structures at the nitrogen center of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3 clusters, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
