Anti-DV envelope glycoprotein (E) 99 clones, anti-DV premembrane protein (prM) 8 clones, and anti-DV nonstructural protein 1 (NS1) 4 clones were derived from four acute-phase patients, and anti-DV E 2 clones, anti-DV prM 2 clones, and anti-DV NS1 8 clones were derived from five convalescent-phase patients. Methods and results: In the present study, we examined whether these clones cross-reacted with Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), which belongs to the same virus family. Forty-six of the above-described 99 (46/99) anti-E, 0/8 anti-prM, and 2/4 anti-NS1 HuMAbs from acute-phase, and 0/2 anti-E, 0/2 anti-prM, and 5/8 anti-NS1 HuMAbs from convalescent-phase showed neutralizing activity against JEV. Thus, most of the anti-E and anti-NS1 (but not the anti-prM) antibodies cross-reacted with JEV and neutralized this virus. Interestingly, 3/46 anti-E HuMAbs derived from acute-phase patients and 3/5 anti-NS1 HuMAbs from convalescent-phase patients showed particularly high neutralizing activity against JEV. Consequently, the HuMAbs showing neutralization against JEV mostly consisted of two populations: one was HuMAbs recognizing DV E and showing neutralization activity against all four DV serotypes (complex-type) and the other was HuMAbs recognizing DV NS1 and showing subcomplex-type cross-reaction with DV. Conclusion: Anti-DV E from acute phase (46/99) and anti-DV NS1 (7/12) indicate neutralizing activity against JEV. In particular, three of 46 anti-DV E clones from acute phase and three of five anti-NS1 clones from convalescent phase showed strong neutralizing activity against JEV. 21. Teacher Development through Coaching and Mentoring Integrated with the 21st Century Instructional Strategies

Abstract

The research aimed to develop and evaluate teacher concepts and performances before and after training through coaching and mentoring procedures integrated with the 21st century instructional strategies of project-based learning, problem-based learning, and research-based learning. The subjects were 96 teachers teaching at schools under the jurisdiction of Si Sa Ket Primary Education Office 3, Si Sa Ket Province, Thailand, purposively selected from 11 schools with lower average scores of ordinary national educational test (ONET) than those of the national level. The results revealed the teachers gained better concepts since the posttest scores were significantly higher than those of the pretest at the .01 level. The teachers' performances were at a level of pass with distinction, they satisfied with the training session at a higher level, and their composed lesson plans were at a fair level.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the femoral neck angulation for prediction of the complication associated with dynamic hip screw (DHS) surgery and hip deformity. Three sample patients' MRI images were selected to calculate the femoral neck angles. A total of six femur head geometries were reconstructed and three dimensional (3D) models printed. The calculation of neck angles was done in both computer models and 3D-printed models. Our results showed that 3D-printed models achieved high accuracy and provided the physical measurements, when compared to the computer models could not confirm. Neck angulations related to uncomplicated DHS surgery ranged between 129{\deg}-139{\deg}, and non-deformity of normal neck angles ranged between 120{\deg}-135{\deg}. Our study indicated that patient-specific 3D printed femoral head models provide useful information for medical education and assist DHS surgery. Further research based on a large sample size is necessary.

Abstract

For a digraph $D$, the niche hypergraph $NH(D)$ of $D$ is the hypergraph having the same set of vertices as $D$ and the set of hyperedges is \begin{align} E(NH(D)) &= \{e \subseteq V(D) : |e| \geq 2~and~there~exists~v \in V(D)~such~that~e = N_{D}^{-}(v)\notag &~~~~~~~or~e = N_{D}^{+}(v)\}.\notag \end{align} A digraph is said to be acyclic if it has no directed cycle as a subdigraph. For a given hypergraph $H$, the niche number $\hat{n}(H)$ is the smallest integer such that $H$ together with $\hat{n}(H)$ isolated vertices is the niche hypergraph of an acyclic digraph. In this paper, we study the niche number of linear hypertrees with maximum degree two. By our result, we can conclude for a special case that if $H$ is a linear hypertree with $\Delta(H) = 2$ and anti-rank three, then $\hat{n}(H) = 0$. We also prove that the maximum degree condition is best possible. Moreover, it was proved that if $H$ is a hypergraph of rank $r$ whose niche number is not infinity, then $\Delta(H) \leq 2r$. In this paper, we give a construction of hypertrees whose niche number is $0$ of prescribed maximum degree from $3$ to $2r$.

Abstract

Despite the safety and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine, public hesitancy about receiving vaccination remains strong among disproportionately affected populations in the United States. To design more locally and culturally appropriate strategies, research is needed to explore the qualitative characteristics of vaccine hesitancy in these populations. Thus, we conducted in-depth interviews with 19 Indigenous and 20 rural participants and utilized a grounded theory approach to identify factors associated with their COVID-19 vaccine decision making. Wariness regarding safety of vaccines, resignation over the quality of available health care, and a historical mistrust of government-led interventions influenced vaccine rejection for indigenous participants. Rural participants remained divided on the perceived threat and consequences of COVID-19 and the efficacy and safety of the vaccines. The influence of friends and family members impacted vaccine hesitancy, as did discussions with healthcare providers when discussions were perceived to be respectful, sensitive, and non-judgmental. 34. Microencapsulation efficiency of fruit peel phytonutrient-based antimicrobial to mitigate rumen emission using in vitrofermentation technique

Abstract

AbstractThis research investigated the protecting properties of polyphenols and flavonoids in phytonutrient pellets formulated from lemongrass powder and mangosteen peel (LEMANGOS pellets) through the microencapsulation and named microencapsulated LEMANGOS (mLEMANGOS). For this purpose, the effects of mLEMANGOS supplementation at various R:C ratios of 60:40 and 20:80 were evaluated and compared with monensin (antibiotic) supplementation under an in vitrostudy technique. Treatments were randomly assigned in a 2 × 4 × 2 factorial arrangement in a completely randomised design consisting of factors A: R:C ratios (60:40 and 80:20), factor B: mLEMANGOS supplementation (0, 2, 4, and 6% DM), and factor C: monensin supplementation (0 and 20% DM). There was an interaction between the R:C ratio and both mLEMANGOS and monensin supplements on the in vitrogas production kinetics, ruminal by-product fermentation, methane production, and rumen microbial population (p < 0.001, 0.01, 0.05). Results indicated that each supplementation influenced the gas production kinetics, while there was decreased cumulative gas production in the mLEMANGOS supplemented. Consequently, the supplemented group buffered ruminal pH and increased the in vitrodry matter degradability (IVDMD) and ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) concentrations. Moreover, the additional treatment of mLEMANGOS supplementation (6% DM at R:C ratios of 60:40 and 20:80) significantly reduced the number of Methanobacterialesto 53.5% and 50.4% after 24 h, respectively. Results from those supplements can reduce methane production to 99.2% and 97.9% (p < 0.001), respectively. This research suggests that phytonutrient-based antimicrobial in the mLEMANGOS supplement could potentially be used as ruminant feed additives and as antimicrobial substances.HIGHLIGHTMicroencapsulated LEMANGOS was formulated by biopolymer using green technique to retain the phytonutrients and their long-term release.The mLEMANGOS supplementation (at 6% of total DM) can be used as a synthetic bio-antibiotic for inhibiting methanogens-archaea population.The mLEMANGOS supplementation (at 6% of total DM) can enhance rumen nutrients degradability, ruminal end-products, and mitigate methane production.

Abstract

AbstractMicroencapsulation, the advanced and newest coating technology, enhances the efficacy and stability of phytonutrients, particularly sensitive plant extracts, in animal feed. Phytonutrients have potential to mitigate methane emissions (CH4) and ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) concentrations during rumen fermentation but require protection to maintain effectiveness. Therefore, this study evaluated the potential of duckweed powder (DWP) and microencapsulated duckweed extract (mDWE) at different levels of supplementation in an in vitrostudy using rumen fluid from Thai-crossbred dairy cows. Employing a 2 × 3 + 1 factorial design, the experiment tested two forms of duckweed (DWP and mDWE) at supplementation levels of 2%, 4%, and 6% + control (0%) of total dry matter substrate. Significant interactions were observed between the different forms and supplementation levels 4% mDWE (p < 0.05) notably enhanced NH3-N, total VFA (volatile fatty acid), and B. proteoclasticus, improved butyric acid (C4), Mathanobacteriales, while decreased microbial population including R. albus, R. flavefaciensand M. elsdeniiand B. fibrisolvensat. mDWE increased fraction gas b, |a|+b, and cumulative gas production, dry matter (12 hours; h) and organic matter (24 h) degradability, and propionic acid (C3), while decreased CH4production (12 and 24 h), acetate (C2) at 24 h, R. albus, R. flavefaciens, and Methanobacteriales(p < 0.05). Additionally, supplementation level significantly increased gas production kinetics and C3(24 h), while decreased C2, C4, Methanobacterialesand CH4production (p < 0.05). This study underscores the potential of microencapsulated duckweed extract 4% mDWE as an optimal ruminant feed additive for decreasing methane production and enhancing rumen fermentation. Further in vivostudies are recommended to validate these findings.
