Abstract

The morphologies of chiral amphiphilic poly(phenylacetylenes) bearing amino acid residues were studied by polarized optical microscope (POM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The polymers showed vesicles, pores and honey-comb structures. Twisted ribbons of macroscopic sizes were observed, providing possible reason why insoluble polymers are obtained upon further purification by precipitating the polymer solutions into poor solvents.
