MATERIAL EXAMINED. — New Caledonia • MNHN-IM-2000-477; 3 specimens; from type locality. ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION. — Test. sinistrorsa cylindrico-conica, subulata, gracilis, subvinosa; anfr. numerosis, dense connatis, planis, carinis 3-4 cingulatis; interstitiis punctis longitudinalibus, subvalidis, suboblique sculptis; apert. parva; labro recto, acuto, canali brevi subrecurvo, margine sinistrali decussato. Long. 13-15, lat. 3-4 mill. TRANSLATION OF THE LATIN TEXT. — Left-handed, cylindricalconical shell, subulate, slender, reddish; numerous whorls, densely arranged, flattened, with 3-4 spiral cords; interspaces are sculptured with longitudinal thick and slightly oblique dots; small aperture; straight lip, acute, short and slightly curved siphon, decussated at the left margin. Length 13-15, diameter 3-4 mm. [Latin diagnosis followed by a discussion in French] DIAGNOSIS. — Shell very elongated with flat sides. Illustrated specimens 19.2 and 22.8 mm high. Teleoconch of c. 21 and c. 22 whorls. Three spiral cords present, the second appearing between the fifth and eighth whorl. Spiral cords smooth with orthocline axial ribs in the interspaces. Base with two additional smooth spiral cords. Protoconch missing in the examined specimens.Teleoconch brown. REMARKS. — Montrouzier wrote that the specimens he studied were in the museum of Bordeaux. The MNHN contains a lot with three specimens, all adults. Montrouzier wrote that he analysed indeed three specimens, but one clearly juvenile that was illustrated in his figure 4 on plate 9. The intertidal of ​​Pangandaran is one of the tourist destinations on the southern coast of Java Island. The purpose of this study was to describe the diversity, distribution of invertebrate in Pangandaran Tourism, West Java Province, Indonesia. The sample were taken from eight site sampling locations from July 2017 to November 2018. Sample taken with line transect method and their diversity and distribution was analyzed by Morisita Index and Similarity Index. The research found 139 species spread to 12 classes and 7 phyla of invertebrate. A phylum of mollusca dominated with 71.2%, followed by Cnidaria with 7.9%. Faunus ater, Terebia sp, Clithon oualaniensis found dominant in muddy shore substrate, Cerithium breviculum, Thais jubilaea, Anthopleura elegentissima found dominant in rocky shore substrate and Hastula bacillus just found in sand shore substrate. Clibanarius vittatus is a cosmopolitan crustacea species found in every substrate characteristic with abundance (69 ± 15) ind.m-2. High diversity shows in rocky shore substrate with a range H’ (3.99–5.08) and low diversity shows on steep crag substrate with range H’ (0.50–0.65). The distribution of group categories by Morisita is dominant, while the cluster analysis of Bray-Curtis showed four clusters based on the difference of substrate. Diversity and abundance decrease of invertebrate communities influenced by pressure from anthropogenic activities, tourism activities, illegal trade fossil and invertebrate as live, capture and water pollution.

Seagrass is a community that consists a large number of organisms which associated within. Organisms associated with seagrass are gastropods. The purpose of this research is to determine the structure of gastropods community at seagrass on Pulau Panjang, Jepara. Exploration methods was applied and data was analyzed descriptively. The location of research are divided into 3 locations based on 3 different densities of seagrass : sparse, medium and dense. Every location consists of 4 stations with 3 repetitions. The research was held during Desember 2014. Sampling using quadratic a frame size of 1x1 m. The result, there are were 15 genera gastropods of 8 families as followed Trochus (Ciridae), Strombus (Strombidae), Turbo, Astralium, Dentarene, Liotina (Turbinidae), Cantharus, Nassaria, Engina (Buccinidae), Cerithium, Rhinoclavis, Clypeomorus (Cerithiidae), Morulla (Muricidae), Columbella (Columbellidae), and Neritodryas (Neritidae). The abundance in location I 108.75 ind/????2 with dense of seagrass density, location II 91 ind/m2 with medium of seagrass density, and location III 47,25 ind/m2 with rare of seagrass density. The rise of the Isthmus of Panama ~3.5 mya separated populations of many marine organisms, which then diverged into new geminate sister species currently living in the Eastern Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea. However, we know very little about how such evolutionary divergences of host species have shaped their microbiomes. Here, we compared the microbiomes of whole-body and shell-surface samples of geminate species of marine gastropods in the genera Cerithium and Cerithideopsis to those of congeneric outgroups. Our results show that the effects of the Isthmus on microbiome composition varied among host genera and between sample types within the same hosts. In the whole-body samples, microbiome compositions of geminate species pairs in the focal genera tended to be similar, likely due to host filtering, although the strength of this relationship varied among the two groups and across similarity metrics. Shell-surface communities showed contrasting patterns, with co-divergence between the host taxa and a small number of microbial clades evident in Cerithideopsis, but not Cerithium. These results suggest that (i) the rise of the Isthmus of Panama affected microbiomes of geminate hosts in a complex and clade-specific manner and (ii) host-associated microbial taxa respond differently to vicariance events than the hosts themselves.

Islamy RA, Hasan V. 2020. Checklist of mangrove snails (Mollusca: Gastropoda) in South Coast of Pamekasan, Madura Island, East Java, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 21: 3127-3134. Mangrove forests are crucial to gastropods providing breeding and nursery grounds, food sources, and shelter from predators. They are useful bioindicators of environmental pollution. Consequently, it is crucial to understand the species richness of gastropods mangrove environments. This study aims to provide information about the species composition of mangrove snails in the South Coast of Pamekasan (Madura Island), East Java, Indonesia. Samplings were performed at low tide from 4 stations in December 2019 using a transect (10m x 10m). All samples were identified using reference books and published journal. We found a total of 10 family consist of Assimineidae, Cerithiidae, Ellobiidae, Littorinidae, Muricidae, Neritidae, Olividae, Planaxidae, Potamididae, and Trochidae with consist of 15 Genus, i.e., Assiminea, Clypeomorus, Cerithium, Rhinoclavis, Laemodonta, Littorarina, Tenguella, Semiricinula, Nerita, Clithon, Oliva, Planaxis, Pirenella, Telescopium, and Monodonta. The most common substrate where mangrove snails were found was rocks, sandy, and around the tree and roots of mangrove. All gastropods in this study found alive during our surveys and predominantly mangrove associated. We assume that there are still many snails that have not been surveyed at the location. We suggest to the future researcher to survey through different sampling efforts and sampling methods such as quantitative or semi-quantitative methods.

The marine influence in the Aptian-Albian of the Araripe Sedimentary Basin, has always been suggested from fossils of several different taxonomic groups. Although the Romualdo Formation presented fossil assemblages of these invertebrates, relevant for the indication of this marine influence during the Aptian-Albian, they spent many years without receiving appropriate studies. Only after the recent work done with both the equinoids and the molluscs represented there allowed the paleoecological analysis of these assemblies. These studies will make it possible to configure a possible route of this marine incursion that occurred at the beginning of the formation of the Atlantic Ocean. From this study were made paleoecological inferences, as well as the paleogeographic distribution of the fauna showing probable environments of marine, lagoon and estuarine sedimentation, showing the possible entrances of the sea in the basin. Common species were found with the Albian of the Sergipe basin and with the Codo Formation, in Maranhao. This association of marine invertebrates is predominantly composed of echinoderms Pygurus (Echinopygus) tinocoi and Bothryopneustes araripensis; the gastropods Tylostoma ranchariensis, Cerithium sergipensis, Paraglauconia (Diglauconia) araripensis and the bivalves Aguileria dissita and Brachidontes araripensis. In the lagoon association prevails the gastropods Paraglauconia (Diglauconia) araripensis, Gymnentome (Gymnentome) romualdoi, Gymnentome (Craginia) beurleni, Pseudomesalia (Pseudomesalia) santanensis, Pseudomesalia (Pseudomesalia) mennessieri and Cerithium sergipensis and absence of echinoids. In the estuarine association occurs Tylostoma ranchariensis and predominates bivalves Brachidontes araripensis and Corbula sp.

Cerithium miocanariensis Mart��n-Gonz��lez & Vera-Pel��ez sp. nov. Figure 8 A, B, C 1952 Cerithium multigranulatum de Serres. Martel Sangil: p. 118, pl. 47, figs 1, 2. Type material. Holotype: adult specimen with fragmented shell aperture, medium sized (H: 37.4 mm; W: 18.1 mm), record number TFMCFO-6539. Paratypes: four adult specimens recorded as TFMCFO-6531 (H: 48 mm; W: 19.3 mm); TFMCFO-1620 (H: 38.3 mm; W: 17.7 mm); and TFMCFO-1292 (H: 35.7 mm; W: 15.6 mm). Other material examined. The specific epithet refers to its Miocene assignation and the Canary Islands. Description. Shell large for the genus (Hmax: 49.7 mm; Wmax: 21.7 mm), solid, and cyrtoconoid in shape, with paucispiral protoconch only visible in a couple of specimens. Teleoconch with six whorls, suture shallow and straight. Penultimate and last whorls rounded, convex in adult specimens. Other whorls have a slightly angular profile and a cord of small pointy nodules. This cord is wider in the first whorls, resembling a varicose rib. In addition, fine cords are present, very close to each other, narrower in first and last whorls, wider in the intermediate ones. These cords are straight and separated by narrow flutes. Axial sculpture consists of weak ribs in the first whorls, very worn in all specimens. Growth lines not observed due to worn shell. Last whorl higher than spire, rounded in appearance, constricted towards the base. Lower half of final whorl has narrow spiral cords, without tubercles. Aperture narrow, labrum totally or partially broken in all specimens examined. Outer lip with abapical narrow sinus and a short, straight, narrow siphonal channel. Columellar lip slightly concave with a thin columellar callus, eroded in most specimens. Color not preserved in any of the specimens. Remarks. Cerithium miocanariensis sp. nov. is different from fossil and extant Canarian specimens of C. vulgatum Brugui��re, 1792 in its less turriculate shell, that is notably wider in the last whorls. The first whorls are proportionally lower and wider than in C. vulgatum and the cords of tubercles on them are wide. This tubercle cord is closer to the abapical suture in this species than in C. vulgatum. In addition, the spiral cords are wider and higher in C. miocanariensis sp. nov. than in C. vulgatum, and are more numerous. The last whorl presents no tubercle cords adapically and the siphonal channel is more elongated than in C. vulgatum. Martel Sangil (1952) reported Cerithium multigranulatum (Serres, 1829) from the Miocene of the Las Palmas Detritic Formation. This is a species with inflated whorl profile, which differs from C. miocanariensis in having two nodulous cords, one subsutural and another suprasutural. Cerithium miocanariensis sp. nov. only has a cord situated in the lower half of the whorl���s height, with well-developed, thorny nodules in a spiral arrangement. Rothpletz & Simonelli (1890) and Martel Sangil (1952) cited Cerithium varicosum Brocchi, 1814 for the Las Palmas Detritic formation, but since these authors did not provide figures, their material cannot be compared to Cerithium miocanariensis sp. nov. However, Cerithium varicosum specimens from the Estepona basin have some very fine axial ribs, which are absent in C. miocanariensis sp. nov. In addition, the spiral cords are finer than those in C. miocanariensis sp. nov. Specimens from the Canary Islands which have been assigned to Cerithium varicosum and Cerithium multigranulatum are probably assignable to Cerithium miocanariensis sp. nov., although we cannot state this categorically. Ten new species of fossil gastropods from the upper Miocene (Tortonian) of the Canary Islands (Spain) are described. Among these are three species of the genus Patella, a group with few fossil representatives, as well as three others representing the family Trochidae. The remaining new species represent Caenogastropoda. This study improves our knowledge of the fossil malacofauna from the Miocene of these islands. Together with the Azores and Madeira archipelagos, the Canaries belong to the Macaronesian biogeographic region. The described species are indicative of rocky coastal environments, and are thus expanding the current understanding of such ecosystems and their associated marine molluscs such as the family Patellidae whose fossil record is scarce. Species are fundamental units in evolutionary biology. However, defining them in taxonomically problematic groups requires integration of independent sources of information in order to develop robust hypotheses for taxonomic classification. Here, we propose an integrative framework for species delimitation in the Mediterranean species of the genus Cerithium (Caenogastropoda: Cerithiidae), whose shells show a wide variety of forms resulting in problematic morphological identification at the species level. Combined sequence data of two mitochondrial genes (COIþ12S) for 55 individuals from the central Mediterranean Sea were used to test the species status of six identified morphotypes. Phylogenetic analyses, as well as DNA-based methods of species delimitation (automatic barcode gap discovery, species delimitation plugin and genealogical sorting index), support the species status of three morphotypes (C. vulgatum ¼ MOTU-A, C. alucastrum ¼ MOTU-B and C. protractum ¼ MOTU-C), sometimes considered as ecotypes. Molecular operational taxonomic unit (MOTU)-D includes large individuals morphologically assigned to C. vulgatum (from Brindisi and Oristano) and C. repandum (from Tunisia), but all probably represent C. repandum which, if valid, would then not be endemic to its type locality in the Gulf of Gabe` s. All individuals identified as C. lividulum grouped in MOTU-E, except those from Tunisia which cluster in MOTU-F with some C. renovatum. Cerithium renovatum from Crete forms an endemic group (MOTU-G), suggesting a possible cryptic species. Our results show only partial concordance between traditional morphology and sequence data, indicating that the former is not always sufficient for recognizing species level taxa within Mediterranean Cerithium, although protoconch morphology is a key feature for distinguishing between species with superficially similar teleoconchs. Further analyses based on more comprehensive geographic sampling and more mitochondrial markers, and including a number of nuclear loci, are needed to clarify Mediterranean Cerithium diversity more fully.

The spiny lobster Panulirus argus is one of the most valuable fishery resources in the Caribbean Sea. This is the only species of lobster that has commercial importance in Cuba. This study was aimed to identify the organisms that conform the natural diet for both sexes of P. argus and to determine the importance of each prey in the diet of each sex. A total of 30 stomachs of commercial lobsters (≥ 76mm of carapace length) was analyzed. The identified content was grouping by items and classified for species if it was possible. The total weight of each item was determined and the gravimetric method was applied to estimate the relative weight of the principal diet components. The most frequently consumed prey was also determined. Items with high, middle or low importance were established by the relative importance index (IIR). Similarities between both sexes diet were estimated by similarity index (ISe). Stomachs were extracted of lobsters captured in a fishing zones from eastern of the gulf of Batabano. The predation pressure (P) on the mollusks species found in the stomach content was calculated based on the respective opercula. It was possible to identified 15 feeding entities (12 in females and 14 in the males) being the preferences: crustacean rests (100%), shell rests (80%), vegetable rests (70%), opercula (63%) and mineral rests (53%). Those preference entities were the same between sexes although in the males the foraminifera and the mineral rest were included. The IIR showed crustaceans as a single group of high importance. The gravimetric analysis showed crustaceans as the most consumed prey (62.3% in females and 40% in males). The opercula of Lobatus gigas, Turbo castanea, Fasciolaria tulipa, Nassarius antillarum, Cerithium sp and Tegula fasciata were found. Tegula fasciata showed the highest predation pressure (2.25 in females and 2.14 in males) and together Cerithium sp. they were the most abundant species (60.5% and 33.9% respectively). Respect to the weight of stomach contents the Mann-Whitney test showed no significant difference between females and males. The diet of both sexes of P. argus in the assessed area was similar (ISe=96.75%) and it was constituted mainly of crustaceans and mollusks. Con el objetivo de identificar los organismos que conforman la dieta natural de la langosta Panulirus argus y determinar diferencias entre sexos en cuanto a la importancia de cada presa, se analizaron 30 estómagos con contenido (16 hembras y 14 machos), extraídos de langostas capturadas al Este del golfo de Batabanó. Se identificaron 15 entidades alimentarias (12 en las hembras y 14 en los machos). Las entidades preferenciales coincidieron en ambos sexos, aunque en los machos se incluyeron además los foraminíferos y los restos minerales. Los crustáceos fueron el único grupo de importancia alta y son las presas mayormente consumidas (G=62.3% en las hembras y G=40% en los machos). Se determinó la presencia de opérculos de Lobatus gigas, Turbo castanea, Fasciolaria tulipa, Nassarius antillarum, Cerithium sp y Tegula fasciata, que fue la que mostró mayor presión de depredación (2.25 en las hembras y 2.14 en los machos). Esta especie junto a Cerithium sp. fueron las que presentaron mayor abundancia numérica (60.5% y 33.9% respectivamente). La prueba U de Mann-Whitney arrojó que entre sexos no existen diferencias en el peso del contenido estomacal. La similaridad entre las dietas fue de 96.75% y se compone fundamentalmente de crustáceos y moluscos.

En el presente artículo se dan a conocer las primeras citas para la península ibérica de Cerithium scabridum, especie lessepsiana de molusco ampliamente distribuida en el Mediterráneo central y oriental. In this paper the first citation for the Iberian Peninsula of Cerithium scabridum, a lessepsian mollusc species widely distributed along the Eastern and Central Mediterranean Sea, are reported.

The cerithioids are a diverse group of gastropods found globally as fossil and living animals during the Cenozoic Era. Their systematics is riddled with problems stemming from large morphological variability, homoplasy, and wide geographical distribution. Six cerithioid species are described here from the lower Middle Eocene of Kutch, Gujarat, western India. All but two are new species. They are Palmerella kutchensis, Tenagodus? sowerbyi, Potamides archiaci, and Cerithium harudiensis. The rest are new records from Kutch and were known only from Pakistan. A palaeobiogeographical review based on major published records of benthic molluscs from Pakistan reveals strong endemism. The cerithioid faunas from different parts of Pakistan and this report from Kutch also show strong endemism and often quite localized development. It is argued here that unhindered faunal mixing was not possible in this province since these newly evolved basins were restricted in nature in their Lower Cenozoic history.

Specimens of a new species of Cerithiidae, Cerithium mangrovum n. sp., were collected during two surveys along the coasts of Hainan and Guangdong Province, China. Usually associated with potamidid snails, this species often occurs in large populations between the mid-high tidal zones in a range of habitats, including mangroves, grass beds, silt, mud, and coral reefs. C. mangrovum n. sp. has a slender and tapering shell and the straight-sided whorl bears three aligned beaded spiral cords. The thick outer lip has a wide posterior sinus. It morphologically resembles C. coralium Kiener, 1841. The shell of C. coralium is usually larger and wider and the spiral cords are not as beaded as in C. mangrovum n. sp. Its radula has a rachidian tooth with a shallow, wide, median basal projection while the rachidian tooth of C. mangrovum n. sp. has a moderately long, median basal projection.

Se reporta el hallazgo de moluscos cuya distribución conocida se encuentra dentro de los límites de la Provincia Panameña, en diversas localidades de la Provincia Peruana entre los años 1972 y 1994, período en el que se presentaron varios eventos "El Niño". Fue posible determinar 15 especies de moluscos que ampliaron su distribución: Pteria stema, Orobitella peruviana, Cryptornya califomica, Cerithium (T) stercusmuscarum, Malea ringens, Hexaplex brassica, Thais styllmanberryi, T (M.) triangularis, T (T) callaoensis, Acanthina brevidentata, Purpura pansa, Neorapana muricata, Anachis (C.) nigricans, Cancellaria (C.) decussata y C. (B.) chrysostorna. Se postula una variabilidad en los límites de las provincias biogeográficas de la costa peruana, controlada por el ENSO.

Ciletuh is a coastal area located in Sukabumi Regency, West Java, which is currently included in the Geopark region in West Java. Ciletuh is a name of a bay that faces directly to the Indian Ocean, hence the similarity of its ocean characteristic. At present Ciletuh Bay has undergone massive sedimentation due to the large amount of sediment entering the surrounding bay coming from Ciwaru and Cimarinjung River and the existence of many floating net cages around the Ciletuh Bay, all of which empties into Ciletuh Bay. High sedimentation rate will disrupt environmental conditions especially organism found in sediments such as benthos. This research was designed using descriptive analytic methods in the form of field observations to determine the research station, sediment sampling and supporting parameters carried out at the research station point. The study was conducted at 5 sampling stations based on different characteristics. The purpose of this research is to see the relationship between sedimentation rate and structure of the macrozoobenthos community. Result presented that the species dominating the bay areas are Nassarius sp., Cerithium sp. Clypeamorus sp. Rhinodavis sp. Certhiidae, Coralliophila sp., Turricula sp., Olivia caerullea., Thais sp., Phos roseatus, Hemifusus sp. Diplomariza sp, Neritadae, Donax sp., Pyramidella sp., Terebia sp. Sedimentation rate calculated as 0,11 gr/cm2/day; 0,13 gr/cm2/day; 0,07 gr/cm2/day; and 0,3 gr/cm2/day. Based on sediment grain size, types of sediment founded on each station are (1) gravely mud, (2) sandy mud, (3) sandy mud with slight gravels, (4) mud with slight gravels, and; (5) sandy silt.

The gastropod genus Cerithium includes several polymorphic species which are hardly distinguishable using a morphological approach based on teleoconch characters. Here we show that protoconch characters can be reliably used to identify the larger Mediterranean species (Cerithium alucastrum, C. repandum and C. vulgatum), and to assess their intraspecific variability. Based on a large amount of morphological data, we show that a multispiral, strongly sculptured protoconch (traditionally associated with C. vulgatum) is found in C. alucastrum. This species originated in the Pliocene. A multispiral, weakly sculptured protoconch, not observed previously, is reported for C. vulgatum. A paucispiral protoconch, distinct from those observed previously for C. lividulum and C. renovatum, is reported for C. repandum and can be used for recognising its wide intraspecific variation and understanding its geographical distribution. Cerithium repandum, previously doubtfully recorded outside its type locality, extends back to the mid-Pliocene and is today rather widely distributed in the Mediterranean, although absent from the Aegean Sea and the Alboran Sea. We describe the larval development of C. repandum and C. vulgatum for the first time, confirming their respective non-planktotrophic and planktotrophic development previously inferred from protoconch morphology. Also, we report a possible case of morphological convergence between C. repandum and C. vulgatum occurring in harbour sites, where we found a distinct (possibly Anthropocene) shell form not described previously from other Recent or fossil material

Epifaunal species in intertidal, estuarine, mangrove habitats, on muddy or sandy substratum between pneumatophores of Avicennia and on bare mud in front of the mangrove fringe. Deposit feeder, lives in areas of high organic content. Stomach contents consist of microalgae, filamentous algae, macro algae, vascular plant material and diatoms comprising detritus in this habitat (Houbrick 1992). Houbrick (1992) suggest that presence of mangroves is a critical factor in distribution of this species, but Lozouet & Plaziat (2008) presume that this species is not a mangal component while frequently located in front of the mangal fringe. In studied sites it was found on mud surface between pneumatophores of Avicennia and Rhizophora as well and on the sand banks of the streams in mangrove stands, sometimes in high densities. This study is based on the analysis of the sedimentology and the fossil assemblages of the Pleistocene deposits in Eastern Tunisia. It aims to establish the different fauna assemblages in order to highlight their paleoenvironments and discuss the importance of the Persististrombus latus distribution especially in the MIS 5e deposits around the Mediterranean Basin. The stratigraphic succession has been divided into two main units. The lower unit is quartz-rich sediment. Its lower marine term revealed well preserved species (Bivalves, Gastropods, Echinoids and Scirripedia) dominated by Acanthocardia, Cerastoderma, Parvicardium, Arca, Donax, Glycymeris, Loripes, Tellina and Cerithium. This fauna is representative of a typical association/biocenosis which may be developed in a sheltered bay, where the hydrodynamism is regularly moderate to low and/or quickly post-mortem buried. The upper unit is carbonated. Its basal term is also rich marine fauna which contains the extant tropical West African species Persististrombus latus. The occurrence of Persististrombus latus in this unit compared to its presence in the whole Mediterranean basin in the Upper Pleistocene leads to question its importance in the interpretation of the climate warming during the Upper Pleistocene, confirming its Atlantic origin.

Located to the north of the Stevns Klint Peninsula (Denmark), Kulstirenden shows the transition from Cretaceous chalks to Danian carbonates across the Cretaceous – Paleogene (K/Pg) boundary. The K/Pg boundary at Kulstirenden is represented by the Fiskeler Member (Fish Clay), a streaked marl interval with a smectite rich, red oxidised layer at its base marking the boundary. The Fiskeler Member is important as it includes the iridium concentration linked to the bolide impact which may have caused the end-Cretaceous mass extinction and is at its maximum thickness at Kulstirenden (c.45 cm). Calcareous dinoflagellate cysts (Calciodinelloideae) have been investigated from within the fine fraction (45–125 μm) at Kulstirenden in order to understand the ecological implications of these enigmatic microfossils. Several species were found within the Fiskeler Member, including Orthopithonella collaris Wendler et al. (2001 , Rev. Palaeobot. Palynol. 115, 69–77). This species is of particular interest as it demonstrates reduced paratabulation and may indicate a transgressive period immediately after the K/Pg boundary event. O. collaris has been described as a morphotype formed under post-K/Pg environmental conditions and is, therefore, described as a “disaster” taxon that marks the K/Pg boundary at Stevns Klint. The distribution of this taxon is more extensive than previously documented, disappearing as carbonate sedimentation returned in the Cerithium Limestone Member of the Danian. Several calcareous microfossil specimens that were found cannot be associated with the dinoflagellates and display Bolboforma -like features. While the origins of Bolboforma are enigmatic, the current finding expands their stratigraphic range and suggests an appearance of this group of organisms found at Stevns Klint may give an insight into the inception of this group into the earliest Danian.
