Ceratinella acutalum sp. nov. (ḰssẮƦ) Figures 58–60 Types. Holotype ♂, CHINA, Yunnan, Yongping County, near rice paddies, 25.36863°N, 98.54363°E, alt. 1620m, 9 October 1998, Charles Griswold, D. H. Kavanaugh and Chun-lin Long leg. (98–YP). Etymology. This epithet derives from the Latin adjective “ acutalis ”, meaning “pointed” and refers to the pointed tip of the retrolateral tibial apophysis in the male palp. Diagnosis. This new species resembles Ceratinella brevis (Wider, 1834) in having the male cephalic lobe absent, but can be distinguished by the distal end of retrolateral tibial apophysis pointing towards the cymbium in C. acutalum sp. nov. (Figs 58B, D, 59C), whereas the distal part touches the proximal part of paracymbium in C. brevis (Cosar, 2021, figs 12–14); distally inner margin of embolus distally with a broad lobe in C. acutalum sp. nov. (Fig. 58B), whereas absent in C. brevis (Cosar, 2021, figs 12–14). Description. Male (holotype, Fig. 59A, B): Total length: 1.58. Carapace 0.71 long, 0.58 wide; cephalic region slightly elevated, brown; fovea, cervical and radial grooves distinct. Clypeus 0.14 high. Sternum wider than long, brown, sparsely covered with microsetae; labium wider than long; maxillae long, distal end broad with scopulae. Chelicerae with four promarginal and six retromarginal teeth. Eye region narrow, AER recurved, PER straight, slightly wider than AER. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.04, ALE 0.06, PME 0.04, PLE 0.05, AME–AME 0.03, PME–PME 0.04, AME–ALE, 0.04, PME–PLE 0.06, AME–PME 0.04, ALE–ALE 0.27, PLE–PLE 0.31, ALE–PLE contiguous. Length of legs: I 2.05 (0.58, 0.71, 0.41, 0.35), II 1.81 (0.55, 0.60, 0.39, 0.27), III 1.52 (0.47, 0.47, 0.32, 0.26), IV 1.75 (0.59, 0.52, 0.36, 0.28). Leg formula I-II-IV-III. TmI and TmIV present. Tibial spine formula: 1-1-1-1. Abdomen 0.71 long, 0.58 wide, oval, gray, covered with fine hairs. Palp (Figs 58A–D, 59C): Tibia dorsally with broad, long apophysis, distal end slightly curved, sclerotized with pointed end; paracymbium U-shaped, distal tip slightly curved; subtegulum and tegulum highly sclerotized, protegulum vestigial; distal suprategular apophysis broad with blunt end, covered by the embolus and the tegulum. Embolic division: embolic membrane hidden on unexpended palp; tailpiece relatively long, sclerotized, slightly curved with blunt end, almost touches the basal margin of cymbium in ventral view. NIEDOBOVA, J., HULA, V.: Spiders of Zbrasovske aragonitove jeskyně National Nature Monument (Moravia, Czech Republic). Acta univ. agric. et silvic. Mendel. Brun., 2012, LX, No. 6, pp. 275–280 Spiders of non-cave part of Zbrasovske aragonitove jeskyně National Nature Monument were investigated during the year 2011. Several capture methods were used from April to October. Altogether, 71 species from 20 families were recorded and 46 more species were allready found in previous studies. Until 2012, there are 89 species known from this NNM in total. Several remarkable species were found: Ceratinella major, Megalepthyphantes nebulosus, Porrhomma convexum. Most of spider species from the locality belong to climax (C) and semi-natural (SN) habitat species. Spiders, Araneae, Zbrasovske aragonitove jeskyně NNM, faunistics The spider fauna of Zbrasovske aragonitove jeskyně National Nature Monument (NNM) has never been published. There exist several studies focused on spider fauna, mainly from the caves and underground (Tajovský et al., unpubl. data; Tajovský, unpubl. data; Tuf and Tufova, unpubl. data; Mlejnek, unpubl. data; Růžicka, unpubl. data) and from the Hůrka National Nature Reserve (Majkus, 1988 and 1991; Tuf et al., 2009; Mikula, 2009; Machac, 2011). Spider fauna of Hůrka NNR is manily thermophilous and contains a lot of rare and interesting species (cf. Machac, 2011) and arachnofauna of underground and caves is mainly psychrophilous. Zbrasovske aragonitove jeskyně (NNM) is the only un-explored area. The aim of this study was to investigate spider fauna of this area, except cave spider fauna, and to improve our knowledge of spiders within this remarkable karst territory. MATERIAL AND METHODS

This publication makes a faunistic contribution to knowledge of the epigeic spider species composition in the limestone quarry Mala Dohoda which is located in Moravian Karst PLA. The spiders were collected by pitfall trapping between catching period 19. 3.-1. 11. 2012. We chose 6 plots all around the quarry - in the inner part, edges of quarry and outside part of quarry. A total of 1 474 adult specimens were collected and determined as 78 species of 21 families. The most significant finding is vulnerable species (VU) Parapelecopsis nemoralis (Blackwall, 1841) which is the second record for Moravia. Among the other significant findings, both in term of rarity and bioindication, were Ceratinella major Kulczynski, 1894, Micaria formicaria (Sundevall, 1831), Ozyptila claveata (Walckenaer, 1837), Pelecopsis parallela (Wider, 1834), Zelotes longipes (L. Koch, 1866) and Zodarion rubidum Simon, 1914. Also, we present finding of an invasive species Mermessus trilobatus (Emerton, 1882) which is spreading in the Czech Republic since 2007. Together, we found 13 species as a novelty for studied faunistic square 6666 and we extended knowledge about new recorded species for the area of the Moravian Karst.

Five erigonine spider species are described with illustrations: a new species, Saitonia pilosus n. sp., and four records new to the Korean spider fauna, Ceratinella brevis (Wider, 1834), Erigone atra Blackwall, 1833, Maso sundevalli (Westring, 1851), and Parasisis amurensis Eskov, 1984. The occurrences of four spider genera, Ceratinella Emerton, 1882, Maso Simon, 1884, Parasisis Eskov, 1984, and Saitonia Eskov, 1992, are also new to Korea.

A new species of Ceraticelus Simon, 1884 from southern California is described, Ceraticelus artemisiae sp. nov. Its probable sister species, Ceraticelus phylax Ivie & Barrows, 1935, a potential adventive species with which it now often co-occurs in southern California, is redescribed for the first time. We provide detailed descriptions of both species because an adequate definition of the genus is lacking and the conformation of the male Ceraticelus palpal bulb has been only superficially treated. We also provide a definition of Ceraticelus based on examination of specimens of the type species, Ceraticelus fissiceps (O. P.-Cambridge). Problems associated with both the conformation of the male bulb and the paracymbium morphology are discussed. Despite the lack of a phylogenetic analysis of Ceraticelus, we propose that Ceraticelus phylax and Ceraticelus artemisiae sp. nov. are sister species based on shared characters that distinguish them from all other congeners. We suggest that the presence of Ceraticelus phylax in California is the result of incidental introduction rather than natural dispersal. Habitat, distribution, and phenology data are presented in the text. Illustrations and a distribution map are also furnished for both species.

Peatlands were studied in temperate, boreal, subarctic, and arctic wetland regions of Quebec, mainly using pitfall traps. Altogether, 169 species of spiders, belonging to 14 families, were collected; 73 species were found only in the temperate-boreal region, 58 only in the subarctic-arctic region, and 38 in both regions. The most species-rich spider families were Linyphiidae (58.3% of all species), Lycosidae (12.4%), and Gnaphosidae (7.1%). Families occurring only, or mainly, in the temperate (and boreal) region were Hahniidae, Dictynidae, Salticidae, Liocranidae, and Theridiidae. Linyphiidae, especially Erigoninae, were typical of the subarctic region. Alopecosa aculeata (Clerck) and Pardosa hyperborea (Thorell) (Lycosidae), Theonoe stridula Crosby (Theridiidae), and Ceratinella brunnea Emerton (Linyphiidae) were found in six of the seven study areas. Seven of the eight opilionid species were found in the temperate region, but Mitopus morio (Fabricius) occurred only in the subarctic bogs. The only pseudoscorpion, Microbisium brunneum (Hagen), was caught in the temperate, boreal, and subarctic regions. The percentage of spiders collected in bogs of both Quebec and southern Ontario was 64% in the temperate region and only 27% in the subarctic region. Almost 50% of species from bogs in the Manitoba taiga were found also in Quebec. About a third of the Quebec bog spiders are Holarctic.

Three species [Ceratinella playa new species, Erigone denticulata Chamberlin & Ivie, Mermessus denticulatus (Banks)] in the spider family Linyphiidae were associated with emergent vegetation in playa wetlands in the Southern High Plains of Texas. Playa wetlands are being rapidly degraded in the Great Plains of the U. S. A. We describe and illustrate the new species Ceratinella playa from a male and female from Briscoe County, Texas. Erigone denticulata is redescribed and illustrated from males and females from Texas. New distributional records are provided for E. denticulata from the U. S. A.: Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. All of these except those from Wyoming are new state records. A new county record of Mermessus denticulatus is reported from Texas.

Diagnosis.���The unmodified cephalic region, coiled pedipalpal embolus, distally arising tibial apophysis, cheliceral dentition pattern���promargin 5���6, retromargin 2, and cheliceral fang not double-curved separate this species from all Ceratinella, Ceraticelus, and Idionella. Description.��� Male (Holotype, Fig. 8): Total length: 1.54 mm; carapace length: 0.68 mm; carapace width: 0.51 mm. Carapace smooth to slightly rugose, cephalic region unmodified, without pits, brownishorange infuscate with dark brown (Fig. 4). Sternum wide brownish-orange infuscate, smooth, coxae of legs IV widely separated, posterior of sternum broadly truncate, its flat end about 1 / 3 sternum maximum width (Fig. 5). Chelicerae uniformly colored as carapace. Cheliceral stridulatory file not evident with dissection microscope (visible as striae at 200 X). Cheliceral fang straight, not shortened, unmodified; promargin with 1 large and 5 smaller denticles (Fig. 4), retromargin with 2���3 smaller denticles (Fig. 5) (small denticles on both margins equal in size). Abdomen unpatterned, scutum 0.75 mm long, remainder of abdomen 0.12 mm long. Scutum amber to orange with numerous large granules (anterior granules pointed and hooked) tipped with long setae (Fig. 6), dorsal scutum extends over anterior of abdomen to near the pedicel. Epigastric scutum extends up only to pedicel. Abdomen pale tan, sclerotized and amber colored around spinnerets ventrally. Legs light amber; tibia II���IV with one dorsal macroseta; TmI 0.49, TmIV absent. Pedipalpal tibia with a thick, stout, curved apophysis (Figs 10���12); tibial apophysis with a fine field of minute denticles on mesal side of tip (visible at 400 X); embolus thin, coiled basally, not separate from ductule, no break or prong in distal half (Fig. 10, 11), distally with final loop, distal loop not recurved upon itself at an acute angle (more gently rounded); radical tailpiece elongated and spiraled throughout (Fig. 10); protegulum white to light gray colored, contrasting with darkened sclerotized parts; other details of the pedipalp are as in Figs 10, 11. Female: Total length: 1.54 mm, carapace length: 0.75 mm, carapace width: 0.46 mm. Carapace colored like legs, chelicera slightly darker. Carapace setal pattern with 4 erect setae along midline. Sternum colored as carapace but more infuscate with dark brown. Cheliceral promargin with 2 large and 3 small denticles and retromargin with 2 denticles. Cheliceral stridulatory file not visible with dissection microscope (visible as striae at 200 X). Abdomen length 0.79 mm, seta-crowned tubercles much less pronounced than in male, uniformly colored (no pattern nor maculations) dark brown, densely covered with semi-erect setae; without scutum. Legs light yellow to amber; tibia II���IV with one dorsal macroseta each, tibia I with 2 smaller macrosetae; TmI 0.44, TmIV absent. Posterior portion of the epigynal plate sclerotized as in Fig. 13. Spermathecae only faintly visible through the cuticle and not extending beyond the epigynal plate (Figs 14���16). Spermathecae oval, fertilization ducts strongly curved inwards, copulatory ducts short and curled/looped (Figs 14���16). Distribution.���Thus far only collected within about an 11 km radius of Silverton, Briscoe County, Texas, U.S.A. Habitat.��� The canopy of emergent aquatic vegetation within playa wetlands. The type locality had primarily grasses when it was photographed (Figs 2, 3), a year before the collections were made. Etymology.���The specific name is a noun in apposition to the genus, Ceratinella; from the western U.S.A. English " playa " meaning shallow depressional wetlands in the Southern High Plains, U.S.A. (not the Spanish " playa " = beach). Ceratinella Emerton Comments.���Members of Ceratinella and Ceraticelus (= Idionella Banks, following Buckle et al. 2001) are very similar to each other in that these species have a dorsal shield or scutum on the abdomen of at least the males. There are 29 recorded species of Ceratinella globally. Platnick (2007) listed 28 species in Ceratinella ranging across the Holarctic region, and a species from New South Wales. Ubick et al. (2005) recognized 14 from North America. A total of 41 species of Ceraticelus Simon is recorded in North America (Ubick et al. 2005) and Platnick (2007) catalogued an additional three species from Russia and the northern West Indies. Previously members of Ceratinella were considered to have the cephalic area unmodified in males, Ceraticelus species have this area unmodified, or with one or two lobes. The Ceratinella cheliceral fang sometimes is shortened and has a double curve, promargin with 0 denticles, retromargin with 0���2 denticles; whereas the Ceraticelus fang is straight, not curved nor shortened. The Ceratinella cheliceral promargin has 4 denticles, retromargin with 2 denticles. TmIV is present in Ceratinella, absent in Ceraticelus. The Ceraticelus formosus group (= Idionella, in part): cephalic region unmodified, dorsal scutum of abdomen extends over anterior of abdomen to contact pedicel; epigastric scutum extends up only to pedicel. Apophysis of pedipalpal tibia extends sideways from mid-tibia, then abruptly right-angled (anteriorly) near tip. As can be seen by comparing the description of our new species with the character list above, our species is more like Ceraticelus in the cheliceral dentition (having numerous denticles) and TmIV absence, but that group is confused and polyphyletic as is Idionella (see Buckle et al. 2001). We have chosen to include our species in Ceratinella because the pedipalpal morphology appears to match more closely other members of that genus. The following new species are described from Portugal: Diplocephalus machadoi Bosmans & Cardoso new species, Diplocephalus marijae Bosmans new species, Maso douro Bosmans & Cardoso new species, Parapelecopsis conimbricensis Bosmans & Crespo new species, Pelecopsis monsantensis Bosmans & Crespo new species and Sintula iberica Bosmans new species. The unknown males of Lepthyphantes berlandi Fage, 1931 and Lepthyphantes bacelarae Schenkel, 1938 are described and the species are transferred to the genera Bordea and Obscuriphantes respectively. The following new synonyms are proposed: Lepthyphantes ollivieri Denis, 1957 = Obscuriphantes bacelarae Fage, 1931 and Trichopterna alticeps Denis, 1952 = Trichopterna cucurbitina Simon, 1884. Acartauchenius depressifrons Simon and A. nasutus O. P.-Cambridge are redescribed and both transferred to the genus Erigonoplus. Pelecopsis lunaris Bosmans & Abrous is transferred to the genus Parapelecopsis. The following poorly known species are redescribed: Erigonoplus castellanus (O.P.-Cambridge), Mecopisthes crassirostris (Simon), Palliduphantes bolivari (Simon), Palliduphantes stygius (Simon), Pelecopsis susannae (Simon), Trichoncus trifidus Denis and Walckenaeria dalmasi (Simon). In addition to the six new species described, the following 18 species are new to Portugal: Alioranus pauper (Simon), Araeoncus toubkal Bosmans, Centromerus phoceorum Simon, Centromerus succinus Simon, Ceratinella brevis Wider, Drapetisca socialis (Sundevall), Entelecara acuminata (Wider), Meioneta mollis (O.P.-Cambridge), Micrargus herbigradus (Blackwall), Ouedia rufithorax (Simon), Palliduphantes cadiziensis (Wunderlich), Porrhomma pygmaeum Blackwall, Sintula furcifer (Simon), Tallusia experta (O.P.-Cambridge), Tapinocyba algirica Bosmans, Tapinopa disjugata Simon, Walckenaeria nudipalpis (Westring) and Walckenaeria obtusa Blackwall. Centromerus cinctus (Simon), Erigonoplus globipes (L. Koch), Mansuphantes mansuetus (Thorell, 1875), Meioneta rurestris (C.L. Koch), Oedothorax retusus(Westring), Palliduphantes cernuus (Simon), Parapelecopsis mediocris (Kulczyn’ski), Tenuiphantes tenebricola (Wider), Walckenaeria atrotibialis (O.P.-Cambridge), Walckenaeria dysderoides (Wider) and Walckenaeria erythrina (Simon) all have been cited from Portugal in the past but are deleted from its list. The Portuguese linyphiid fauna presently counts 111 species.
