3-Hydroxyhexan-2-one (3-C6-ketol) has emerged as the most conserved pheromone structure within the beetle family Cerambycidae. In this study, we report the sex-specific production of this compound by males of 12 species of South American cerambycid beetles. Males of Chrysoprasis chalybea Redtenbacher and Mallosoma zonatum (Sahlberg) (Tribe Dichophyiini), and Ambonus lippus (Germar), Eurysthea hirta (Kirby), Pantonyssus nigriceps Bates, Stizocera plicicollis (Germar), and Stizocera tristis (Guérin-Méneville) (Elaphidiini) produced 3 R -C6-ketol as a single component, whereas males of Neoclytus pusillus (Laporte & Gory) (Clytini), Aglaoschema concolor (Gounelle), Orthostoma abdominale (Gyllenhal) (Compsocerini), Dorcacerus barbatus (Olivier), and Retrachydes thoracicus thoracicus (Olivier) (Trachyderini) produced 3 R -C6-ketol, along with lesser amounts of other compounds. In field trials testing 8 known cerambycid pheromone compounds, C. chalybea , E. hirta , and R. t. thoracicus were attracted in significant numbers to traps baited with 3-C6-ketol. A second field experiment provided support for the strategy of using the attraction of cerambycid species to test lures as a method of providing leads to their likely pheromone components. Because both sexes are attracted to these aggregation-sex pheromones, live beetles can be obtained from baited traps to verify they produce the compound(s) to which they were attracted, that is, that the compounds are indeed pheromone components. Chlorophorus fainanensis Pic, 1918 is redescribed. Four species, C. coniperda Holzschuh, 1992, C. diversicolor Holzschuh, 2016, C. orbatus Holzschuh, 1991 and C. pinguis Holzschuh, 1992 are newly reported from China. The present paper records Rosalia (Eurybatus) formosa (Saunders, 1839), a cerambycid or longhorn beetle for the first time from the state of Mizoram in northeastern India. The documentation was done on the basis of two specimens that were collected from the District of Champhai, Mizoram. Herein, we present a revision of Periboeum Thomson, 1864 and its species, which are redescribed based on a detailed morphological study of exoskeleton. In addition, two new species are described from Brazil: Periboeum birai sp. nov. from the Caatinga biome (Bahia state) and Periboeum santossilvai sp. nov. from the Amazon biome (Pará and Amazonas states). The following synonymies are also proposed: P. acuminatum (Thomson, 1861) = P. atylodes Salvador, 1978 syn. nov.; P. ocellatum Gounelle, 1909 = P. maculatum Magno, 1987 syn. nov.; Sphaerion inerme White, 1853 = P. aduncum Napp & Martins, 1984 syn. nov. The following new combination is also proposed, Mephritus paucispinum (Lameere, 1890) comb. nov. (previously allocated in Periboeum). Additionally, we present new distributional records for P. obscuricone , Martins & Monné, 1975 (Peru and Argentina), P. terminatum (Perroud, 1855) (Uruguay), and P. vicinum (Perroud, 1855) (Bolivia). An updated key, photographs of all species (including types, when available), distribution maps, scanning electron microscopy images and schematic drawings are provided. Through this study, we conclude that transversal wrinkles near the posterior margin of pronotum (in some species, it is present on the entire pronotum) should be included as a new diagnostic feature for the genus. The complete mitochondrial genome of Nadezhdiella cantori (Hope, 1843) is 16,049 bp in length, containing 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), and an A-T rich region (control region). The gene order is conserved and identical to most other previously sequenced Cerambycidae. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the newly sequenced N. cantori was in a well-supported clade tribe Cerambycini, subfamily Cerambycinae. These results support the currently accepted taxonomy and provide a better understanding of the phylogenetic analysis of the Cerambycidae.

We report the occurrence of Cevaeria estebani Tavakilian, 2004 (Cerambycinae, Cerambycini) for the first time in Amazonas, Brazil. This species was previously recorded from French Guiana and Bolivia. We provide a distribution map for C. estebani and photographs of the habitus of the new record and its potential mimetic species, the chrysomelid Sceloenopla maculata (Olivier, 1792).

The paper listed 12 species of the genus Ceresium belonging to the tribe Callidiopini from Vietnam. Of the total 12 species, there are 4 species additional recorded for Vietnam's fauna, viz. Ceresium furtivum Pascoe, 1869; Ceresium nilgiriense Gahan, 1906; Ceresium quadrimaculatum Gahan, 1900; Ceresium rouyeri Pic, 1943. Callidiellum rufipenne (Motschulsky, 1860) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) is naturally distributed in Asia but it was introduced into China, Korea, Russia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, France, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Slovenia, United States of America, Canada, Denmark, Belgium, Iran, New Caledonia and Argentina. This species presents chromatic dimorphism: the males have elytra with an indefinite purple-green iridiscent dark colour, while the females have a reddish colour on the elytra. Longhorn beetles are among the most important groups of invasive forest insects worldwide. In parallel, they represent one of the most well‐studied insect groups in terms of chemical ecology. Longhorn beetle aggregation‐sex pheromones are commonly used as trap lures for specific and generic surveillance programs at points of entry and may play a key role in determining the success or failure of exotic species establishment. An exotic species might be more likely to establish in a novel habitat if it relies on a pheromone channel that is different to that of native species active at the same time of year and day, allowing for unhindered mate location (i.e., pheromone‐free space hypothesis). In this study, we first tested the attractiveness of single pheromone components (i.e., racemic 3‐hydroxyhexan‐2‐one, racemic 3‐hydroxyoctan‐2‐one, and syn‐2,3‐hexanediol), and their binary and tertiary combinations, to native and exotic longhorn beetle species in Canada and Italy. Second, we exploited trap catches to determine their seasonal flight activity. Third, we used pheromone‐baited "timer traps" to determine longhorn beetle daily flight activity. The response to single pheromones and their combinations was mostly species specific but the combination of more than one pheromone component allowed catch of multiple species simultaneously in Italy. The response of the exotic species to pheromone components, coupled with results on seasonal and daily flight activity, provided partial support for the pheromone‐free space hypothesis. This study aids in the understanding of longhorn beetle chemical ecology and confirms that pheromones can play a key role in longhorn beetle invasions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ysachron pilosus gen. et sp. nov. is described from the Caribbean region of Colombia, and an updated key to genera of South American Achrysonini is provided. Moreover, the geographical distribution of 45 species of Cerambycidae, belonging to the subfamilies Cerambycinae, Lamiinae and Prioninae, is expanded, including nine new country records for Colombia and a further locality in Colombia for nine species.

This article includes new data on the distribution of Erythrus philipinus Vives, 2021, Xystrocera danilevskii Vives, 2013, and Xystrocera festiva Thomson, 1860 in the Philippines, as well as first description of the previously unknown female Erythrus philipinus and male Xystrocera danilevskii. Abstract A new species of Stizocera (Cerambycinae, Elaphidiini) from Colombia is described and illustrated: Stizocera ruthveronae sp. nov., and an updated key to species of the genus is presented. Moreover, nine species of longhorn beetles of Cerambycinae belonging to Callichromatini, Eburiini, Elaphidiini, Hexoplonini, Neoibidionini, Obriini are reported for the first time for Colombia.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Xystrocera globosa is 15,706 bp in length, containing 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, two ribosomal RNAs and the A + T-rich region. The overall base composition is 72.7% AT and 27.3% GC, and the AT content of the control region is 79.3%. In ML and BI phylogenetic trees, X. globosa was a sister clade to X. grayii. The monophyly of Lamiinae and Prioninae were supported in ML analyses, but nevertheless, the monophyly of Cerambycinae was not recovered.

Five new species of the gernus Dere Fahraeus, 1872 from the Philippines are described and illustrated: D. telnovi sp. nov. (Palawan), D. shavrini sp. nov. (Palawan), D. legalovi sp. n. (Samar), D. bukejsi sp. nov. (Negros) and D. rukmaneae sp. nov. (Mindanao). The world fauna of Dere is now represented by 56 taxa, and the fauna of the Philippines by nine species. Amamiclytus wuxingensis sp. nov., the third species of the genus from mainland China, is described and illustrated with specimens collected from Wuxing Village, Leishan County, Guizhou Province, China. Eburiini is currently composed of 22 genera and 262 species, with a geographical distribution restricted to the Americas. Herein, we present a cladistic analysis of Eburiini and its genera, using a matrix with 82 terminal taxa, 52 from the ingroup (including representatives of all recognized genera) and 30 from the outgroup, and 105 characters of the adult morphology. The matrix was analysed under implied weights, and the tribe was not recovered as monophyletic. In order to recover the monophyly of the tribe, two genera of Heteropsini, Heterops and Eburiola, were transferred to Eburiini. The transfer of Heterops, type genus of Heteropsini, results in these two tribes being considered synonyms, with the name Eburiini having priority. The tribe Dychophyiini was resurrected to include the genera that were allocated to Heteropsini and were not transferred to Eburiini. The subgenus Eburia (Eleutho) was recovered as monophyletic and is herein elevated to genus rank. The genera Opades and Pantomallus are synonymized. The species Eburia sordida and Eburia fuliginea were transferred to Pantomallus, recovering the monophyly of the genus. With the synonymy of Opades, the transfer of the genera Heterops and Eburiola, and the new status of Eleutho, Eburiini is composed of 24 genera and 268 species. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract A review of Enaphalodes Haldeman, 1847 is presented. Descriptions of four new species of Enaphalodes are included: E. antonkozlovi, sp. nov. from Costa Rica, E. bingkirki, sp. nov. from Nicaragua, E. monzoni, sp. nov. from Guatemala, and E. cunninghami, sp. nov. from Mexico. Enaphalodes senex (Bates, 1884) is revalidated and it is newly recorded from Nicaragua and Guatemala. A key to the 15 currently recognized species of Enaphalodes is included.

Purpuricenus caucasicola sp. n. is described from Krasnodar Region of Russia. The species is also distributed in Transcaucasia (Azerbaijan, Georgia) and probably in North Turkey. The taxon was recorded for the region before with a wrong name “Purpuricenus caucasicus”. All similar taxa are also accepted as species: P. graecus Sláma, 1993, P. renyvonae Sláma, 2001, P. baeckmanni Danilevsky, 2007, P. neocaucasicus Rapuzzi et Sama, 2013

Uma nova espécie de Compsibidion Thomson, 1864 é descrita do Piauí. Sydacini, nova tribo de Cerambycinae, é validada. As espécies de Cerambycidae atualmente registradas para o Piauí (118) e para o Ceará (126) são apresentadas. São acrescentados vinte e dois novos registros para o Piauí e onze para o Ceará. Duas espécies são excluídas da fauna do Ceará: Hippopsis lemniscata lemniscata (Fabricius, 1801) e Oncideres saga (Dalman, 1823).

Two new genera are described: Fissapoda for two species, F. barbicrus (Kirby, 1818) and F. manni (Fisher, 1930), transferred from Epimelitta Bates, 1870; and Epipoda for two new species, E. abeli from Bolivia, and E vanini. from Brazil. All the species are illustrated (including their genitalia), and host plant and host flower records provided.

Pseudophygopoda Tavakilian & Peñaherrera-Leiva, 2007 is redescribed. Four new, closely related genera are described. Panamapoda gen. nov., with P. panamensis (Giesbert, 1996); Paraphygopoda gen nov., with Paraphygopoda nappae sp. nov., P. albitarsis (Klug, 1825), P. viridimicans (Fisher, 1952), and, provisionally, P. longipennis (Zajciw, 1963); Para melitta gen. nov., with Paramelitta wappesi sp. nov., and P. aglaia (Newman, 1840); and Phygomelitta gen. nov., with one species, P. triangularis (Fuchs, 1961). All the species are illustrated (including genitalia); and keys to the genera, and their species, are provided.

Three new genera are described: Ephippiotragus with two new species, E. wappesi and E. thomasi; Amborotragus with A. vestigiepimeron sp. nov.; and Tomopterchasia with T. sullivanorum sp. nov. Additonally, five new species are described: Acyphoderes amboroensis, Isthmiade mariahelenae, Chrysaethe lazzoi, Ecliptoides pseudovicinus, and Stenopseustes lingafelteri. All the new species are illustrated, and host flower records provided. A striking example of structurally different genitalia in two very closely related species is illustrated and briefly discussed. Ischasia cuneiformis Fisher, 1952 is transferred to Tomopterchasia. The following new country records for Bolivia are registered: Odontocera hirundipennis Zajciw, 1962 and Odontocera ornaticollis Bates, 1870.

Quatro espécies são transferidas para Clepitoides Clarke, 2009: Odontocera crocata Bates, 1873; O. virgata Gounelle, 1911; Eclipta picturata (Gounelle, 1911); E. pallidicornis (Zajciw, 1966). As fêmeas de O. crocata e O. pallidicornis são redescritas e uma nova espécie é descrita do Brasil e da Argentina. As cinco espécies são figuradas. Adicionalmente é fornecida nova chave para as espécies de Clepitoides.

A new genus, Caprichasia, is described with two species: Caprichasia serjaniaphila sp. nov. from Bolivia; and Caprichasia tommyi (Hovore, 1989) comb. nov. from central America, transferred from Ecliptophanes (Melzer 1935). The new species is illustrated, and host flower records are provided.
