Abstract Background Pro-health behaviours aim at disease prevention, recovery from an illness and maintenance of good health in a physical, mental and social sphere. The study had two main objectives: (a) to analyse health behaviours of postmenopausal women and their understanding of the notion of health, and (b) to analyse the relationship between individual categories of health behaviours and prophylactic activities undertaken by postmenopausal women. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted among a convenience sample of 510 postmenopausal women. Three study instruments were used: an original questionnaire and two instruments designed by Juczyński: the List of Health Criteria and the Health Behaviour Inventory. Results In the view of the respondents health was primarily synonymous with a feature, because the following three associations were given the highest priority when defining health: to be healthy means ‘have all body parts functioning well’ (M = 1.82), ‘do not experience any physical problems’ (M = 1.43) and ‘not be sick, only occasionally suffer from flu, cold or indigestion’. The score for health behaviours was average (M = 86.18). The highest score was achieved in the area of prophylactic behaviours. Introduction. Medical staff, including nurses and midwives, should play a significant role in recognizing violence, its forms and victims. Aim of the study. Verify that the course of their professional nurses and midwives are in contact with victims of domestic violence and then they take action. Material and methods. The study included 295 nurses and midwives, participating in one of the forms of postgraduate education - specialist education or specialized course in your chosen field. The research was conducted in November and December 2015 the Center for Postgraduate Education of Nurses and Midwives in Radom and Lublin. The criterion for inclusion in the group of respondents was an agreement to participate in them. The study used diagnostic survey method using a questionnaire of our own design. The collected material was analyzed by descriptive and statistical, using computer software IBM SPSS (version 21). Research results. Technological advances in the 20th c. and development of neonatology have created a chance to survive for the infants born before term, underdeveloped and unable to survive outside the mother’s womb. The triumph of reason over nature has given newborns a chance of undisturbed development, however there are infants who have no hopes to function independently, whose life is overburdened with pain and suffering. From the ethical point of view all activities undertaken by the medical staff require respect for the human being and individualized management. The issues like decision as to continue or withheld resuscitation, differentiation between persistant therapy and euthanasia, withdrawal from persistant life supporting therapy and treatment, the limits of decision making are the main dilemmas of the medical staff and parents. The purpose of study was to present opinions of the medical school students on the care of neonates born at the borderline of viability. The study was carried out in the group of 360 students of medical schools, 211 (58.6%) from the Medical University of Lublin, and 149 (41.4%) students of theMedicalUniversityinWrocław. The respondents were diagnostically surveyed by means of a questionnaire developed by the authors and evaluated by competent judges. The study was approved by the Ethical Board, Medical University of Lublin, No KE – 0254/180/2013. The results revealed that over half respondents stated that it is impassible to define the limit of neonate’s viability, i.e. maturity to live outsider the mother’s womb and that each baby should be approached individually. The majority of students believed that resuscitation of a newborn on the verge of viability is the right approach. Almost every fourth student thought that the question should consider parental opinion, and 1/3 believed that once started, the treatment should be continued in any situation.

Wiek kobiet wahał się w granicach od 19 do 42 lat (średnia wieku wynosiła 27,8 ± 4 lata). Wykorzystano kwestionariusz ankiety, własnej konstrukcji oraz wizualną analogową skalę VAS (0 – brak bólu do 10- ból nie do wytrzymania) do oceny bólu kręgosłupa. Celem pracy było sprawdzenie czy u kobiet w ciąży występuje ból kręgosłupa oraz w jakich sytuacjach się nasila. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań stwierdzono, że większości kobiet odczuwała ból kręgosłupa w odcinku lędźwiowym. Wśród sytuacji nasilających dolegliwość najwięcej wymieniało pozycję stojącą, co trzecia siedzącą, a co piąta chodzenie. Słowa kluczowe: ból kręgosłupa, ciąża Summary The study involved 80 women between the 25th and 36th week of pregnancy attending antenatal classes. The age of women ranged from 19 to 42 years old (the age median was 27,8 ± 4 years). The questionnaire of our own design and the Visual Analogue Scale VAS (0 – no pain to 10 - unbearable pain) were used to evaluate back pain. The aim of the study was to check whether pregnant women suffer from back pain and in which situations it is increasing. Based on the survey, it was found that the majority of women experienced pain in the lumbar region of the spine. Among the situations which increased back pain most of women mentioned standing position, one in three sitting position and one in five walking. Key words: back pain, pregnancy

The MRKH syndrome has a negative impact on the psychosocial status of a patient and her family. The treatment of aplasia/hypoplasia of the vagina requires an interdisciplinary approach. The choice of treatment and its acceptance by a patient is crucial for the successful therapy. Therefore, it requires careful selection of treatments suited for anatomical conditions and patient’s emotional state and also good cooperation between a patient and the therapeutic team at every stage of treatment. Young women should be mentally and substantively prepared for phantomisation of vagina and undertaking sexual activity. To ensure a proper functionality of the newly formed vagina, the sexual care is indispensable for many women with the MKHR syndrome and their partners.

Grażyna Stadnicka Streszczenie Pomimo obserwowanych zmian w preferencjach, dotyczących zakładania rodziny i rosnących aspiracji życiowych młodych ludzi w zakresie poziomu wykształcenia oraz statusu zawodowego i społecznego, nadal obserwuje się wiele tysięcy urodzeń dzieci przez nastoletnie kobiety, w tym także w krajach wysokorozwiniętych. Przyczyn tej sytuacji upatruje się zarówno w akceleracji rozwojowej młodzieży, jak i w zmianie obyczajowości seksualnej, a szczególnie obniżaniu się wieku inicjacji seksualnej. Ze względu na konsekwencje przedwczesnego macierzyństwa zagadnienie to trzeba rozpatrywać wieloaspektowo. Konsekwencje bowiem nie są wyłącznie problemem osobistym dziewczyny, ale również rodziny, szkoły, społeczeństwa. Moment pojawienia się nowego życia, wraz z całym okresem ciąży i porodu, wydaje się być jednym z ważniejszych wydarzeń, rzutującym na całą przyszłość kobiety, jej dziecka i rodziny. W pracy omówiono zagadnienie dotyczące nastoletniego macierzyństwa z punktu widzenia socjologii, psychologii i prawa. Zaprezentowano najważniejsze skutki i związane ze zbyt młodym rodzicielstwem komplikacje życia codziennego nastoletnich matek, wynikające w szczególności z braku niezależności finansowej i pełnienia roli uczennicy. Celem pracy było ukazanie problemu macierzyństwa nastoletnich kobiet w aspekcie społecznym, psychologicznym oraz prawnym. Abstract Although young peoples’ preferences concerning parenthood and aspirations regarding education, social and proffesional status are changing, every year teenage women are still giving birth to thousands of children in both underdeveloped and developed countries. The reason for this may be a faster development of teenagers as well as changes in sexual behaviour, especially earlier sexual initiation. The issue has to be looked upon from different standpoints due to various consequences of premature motherhood. Those consequences are not only of personal nature of a mother, but they affect family, school and society too. The moment of creating a new life, together with pregnancy and child delivery, seems to be one of the most important events that will shape the future of a mother, her child and close family. This article focuses on teenage childbearing as it is seen by sociologist, psychologist and lawyers. It also presents the most crucial consequences of becoming a parent too early in life which originate in being financially dependant and the student status. The aim of this study is to present the problem of teenage motherhood from sociological, psychological and legal standpoint. W drugiej fazie cyklu miesiączkowego u większości kobiet pojawiają się dość specyficzne objawy natury somatycznej i psychicznej, które uznawane są za fizjologię. U 20-40% z nich mogą jednak świadczyć o patologii. Cel pracy. Celem pracy było wyjaśnienie, czym jest zespół napięcia przedmiesiączkowego, jak go rozpoznać oraz na czym polega pomoc chorej kobiecie. Materiał i metoda. Przy użyciu haseł przedmiotowych przeszukano uniwersytecką bazę danych, PubMed i MEDLINE. Przeszukanie elektroniczne ograniczono do prac w języku polskim i angielskim, opublikowanych w latach 2005-2015. Wyłoniono ogółem 55 pozycji (głównie lekarskich), z czego wykorzystano 34 oraz jedną ze strony internetowej Amerykańskiego Towarzystwa Położników i Ginekologów. Opis zebranego materiału. Z przeglądu piśmiennictwa wynika, że zespół napięcia przedmiesiączkowego to nie mit, lecz realny problem osobisty i medyczny. Zaburza funkcjonowanie kobiet w życiu społecznym i zawodowym. Rozpoznanie wymaga minimum dwumiesięcznej obserwacji objawów oraz wykluczenia innych chorób. Modyfikacja stylu życia i ewentualne leczenie farmakologiczne poprawiają samopoczucie i jakość życia kobiet. Przegląd piśmiennictwa ukazał dużą rozbieżność stanowisk autorów w omawianych kwestiach oraz zasugerował kierunki dalszych dociekań. Specific symptoms of somatic and psychological nature appear in the second phase of the menstrual cycle of many women. These symptoms are considered to be physiological, however, 20-40 % of them may indicate pathology. Aim of the study. The aim of this study was to explain what the premenstrual syndrome is, how to recognize it and treat a sick woman. Material and methods. The university database, Pubmed and MEDLINE was searched, using subject headings. The electronic search was limited to the Polish and English papers, published in the period 2005-2015. A total of 55 items (mostly medical) was selected and 34 of them were used. One of the sources was the website of American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist. Description of the collected material. A review of the literature shows that the premenstrual syndrome is not a myth, but a real personal and medical problem. It impairs the functioning of women in the social and professional lives. The diagnosis requires a minimum of two-month observation of symptoms and the exclusion of other diseases. The lifestyle modification and possible pharmacological treatment improve the well-being and quality of women’s lives. The reviewed literature revealed a large discrepancy in the views of the authors on these issues and suggested directions for the future research. Introduction. Smoking cigarettes is a major health and social-economical problem. It poses a threat to reproduction, parturition and the health of the baby.Aim. Illustrating the problem of smoking cigarettes by pregnant women on the basis of the review of the bibliography. Brief description of the state of the art. This research demonstrates the epidemiology and the scale of the problem as well as the consequences of smoking during pregnancy taking into consideration the division into the parturition and the health of the baby. It also discusses women’s awareness of the negative effects of such behaviours.Conclusion. The review of the bibliography indicates that smoking cigarettes by pregnant women is not uncommon. The scale of the problem is not easy to assess due to the fact that many of these women simply do not admit to it. The negative consequences of smoking during pregnancy are quite numerous and pertain to both the parturition and the state of the newborn as well as the health of the child at a later stage in its life. This calls for the need to shape anti-nicotine attitudes, especially in girls and women in the reproductive period.

Stanowi zagrożenie dla rozrodu, przebiegu ciąży i zdrowia dziecka. Cel pracy. Ukazanie problemu palenia papierosów przez kobiety ciężarne na podstawie przeglądu piśmiennictwa. Skrócony opis stanu wiedzy. W opracowaniu przedstawiono epidemiologię i skalę problemu oraz konsekwencje palenia w okresie ciąży, z uwzględnieniem podziału na przebieg ciąży i zdrowie dziecka. Omówiono też świadomość kobiet odnośnie negatywnych skutków takich zachowań. Podsumowanie. Z przeglądu piśmiennictwa wynika, że palenie papierosów przez kobiety ciężarne nie należy do rzadkości. Skala problemu nie jest łatwa do oceny, gdyż wiele z nich po prostu nie przyznaje się do tego. Negatywne konsekwencje palenia w ciąży są dość liczne i dotyczą zarówno jej przebiegu, jak i stanu noworodka oraz zdrowia dziecka w późniejszym okresie życia. Istnieje potrzeba kształtowania postaw antynikotynowych, zwłaszcza wśród dziewcząt i kobiet w wieku rozrodczym. Słowa kluczowe: kobieta ciężarna, palenie papierosów w ciąży. Summary Introduction. Smoking cigarettes is a major health and social-economical problem. It poses a threat to reproduction, parturition and the health of the baby. Aim. Illustrating the problem of smoking cigarettes by pregnant women on the basis of the review of the bibliography. Brief description of the state of the art. This research demonstrates the epidemiology and the scale of the problem as well as the consequences of smoking during pregnancy taking into consideration the division into the parturition and the health of the baby. It also discusses women’s awareness of the negative effects of such behaviours. Conclusion. The review of the bibliography indicates that smoking cigarettes by pregnant women is not uncommon. The scale of the problem is not easy to assess due to the fact that many of these women simply do not admit to it. The negative consequences of smoking during pregnancy are quite numerous and pertain to both the parturition and the state of the newborn as well as the health of the child at a later stage in its life. This calls for the need to shape anti-nicotine attitudes, especially in girls and women in the reproductive period. Key words: pregnant woman, smoking during pregnancy.

Celem pacy była ocena profilu społeczno-demograficznego kobiet rodzących oraz wpływu aktywności fizycznej w okresie ciąży na przebieg porodu. Materiał i metoda. Badania przeprowadzono wśród 150 rodzących. Narzędzie badawcze stanowiła ankieta własnego autorstwa, skala Borga oraz skala oceny bólu VAS. Wyniki. Badane były w wieku 19-41 lat, średnia wieku wynosiła 28.7±5.3 lat. Najczęściej podejmowaną przez respondentki aktywnością fizyczną był spacer (n=29; 38.15%), fitness (n=21; 27.63%), joge (n=14; 18.42%), pilates (n=25; 32.89%).Korzystanie z aktywności ruchowej przez kobiety w ciąży było zależne od: wykształcenia (p=0.031), miejsca zamieszkania (p=0.13), statusu zawodowego (0.004) oraz wieku (p=0.042) badanych. Aktywności fizyczna w okresie ciąży miała znamienny statystycznie wpływ na sposób ukończenia ciąży (p=0.024) i wystąpienie samoistnej czynności skurczowej (p=0.001) oraz bliski istotności statystycznej wpływ na częstość uszkodzenia krocza podczas porodu (0.049). Wnioski. Aktywność fizyczna podczas ciąży nie ma wpływu na częstotliwość okołoporodowych urazów kanału rodnego, w tym nacinania krocza. Natomiast warunkuje wystąpienie samoistnych skurczów porodowych, lepszą tolerancję bólu i wysiłku podczas porodu oraz zmniejsza liczbę cięć cesarskich. Słowa kluczowe: ciąża, aktywność fizyczna, poród. Abstract Physical activity during pregnancy, which improves overall physical condition and prevents many ailments of pregnancy. The aim of the study was the analysis of the profile of women and the influence of activity during pregnancy on childbirth Material and method. The research was conducted among 150 women. The study has been carried out with the use of the authorial questionnaire-survey, Borga Scale and Visual Analogue Scale. Statistical analysis was performed with the use of the computer program IBM SPSS Statistics version 21. Results. The women were at the age of 19-41years. The average age of the participants equalled 28.7±5.3. The most common physical activity undertaken by the pregnant was: walking (n=29; 38.15%), fitness (n=21; 27.63%), yoga (n=14; 18.42%), pilates (n=25; 32.89%). Physical activity during pregnancy was dependent on education (p=0.031), place of residence (p=0.13), employment status (0.004) and age (p=0.042) women surveyed. Physical activity during pregnancy influence the method of child delivery (p = 0.024), the occurrence of spontaneous uterine contractions (p = 0.001) and damage to the perineum during childbirth (0049). Conclusions. Physical activity during pregnancy significantly determines the occurrence of spontaneous uterine contractions of childbirth, better tolerance of pain and effort during labor and reduces the frequency of perinatal injuries birth canal, including cutting perineum Key words: pregnancy, physical activity, labor.

Objective The aim of the study was evaluation of the influence of stress urinary incontinence on women’s quality of life. Material and Methods The study covered 275 women between 30–65 years of age. The study was conducted using the following tools: Gaudenz Questionnaire, King’s Health Questionnaire (KHQ), Female Sexual Function Index (FIFI) Questionnaire, and a questionnaire devised by the authors of the study. Results The study shows that the disease has a negative effect on evaluation of the quality of thee women’s lives. The symptoms of stress urinary incontinence had a significant influence on the feeling of emotional comfort, social and professional activity of the surveyed women – respectively p= 0.000; p=0.000; p=0.000. Nearly every third woman (28.7%) felt great mental discomfort related to the disease symptoms, 31.7% a considerable discomfort, 33.1% a moderate, and very few women (6.5 %) claimed that the disease had a minimal effect on their emotional state. About two-thirds of the surveyed women (68.7%) were sexually active, and the remaining 31.3% declared the lack of sexual intercourse. Conclusions The occurrence of stress urinary incontinence symptoms affects the quality of life of women, especially their mental state and interpersonal contacts. Most women with the symptoms of stress urinary incontinence fulfill their sexual needs; however, many of them do not feel complete satisfaction with their sex life.

Cel pracy Sprawdzenie, czy dziewczęta w okresie dojrzewania ćwiczą na lekcjach wychowania fizycznego i są aktywne ruchowo poza szkołą oraz czy ma to związek z miejscem ich zamieszkania. Materiał i metoda Badaniami ankietowymi objęto 169 uczennic gimnazjów (80 mieszkających w mieście i 89 na wsi) w województwie lubelskim. Wiek dziewcząt wahał się w granicach od 11 lat do 17 lat (Mediana = 15 lat). Kryterium włączenia było wystąpienie menarche. Na prowadzenie badań uzyskano zgody Komisji Bioetycznej Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Lublinie nr KE-0254/224/2013 z dnia 26 września 2013r. oraz nr KE-0254/246/2013 z dnia 24 października 2013r. Wyniki badań Większość uczennic, zarówno ze wsi, jak i z miasta (odpowiednio 66; 74.1% i 59; 73.8%), oświadczyła, że prowadzi aktywny tryb życia. Innych - analogicznie 10 (11.2%) i 8 (10.0%) było przeciwnego zdania, a co piąta (19; 21.3%) dziewczynka z terenów wiejskich i 13 (16,3%) z miejskich nie potrafiła tego ocenić. Regularne uczęszczanie na lekcje wychowania fizycznego potwierdziły 94 (55,6%) badane. Pozostałe oświadczyły, iż czynią to nieregularnie (68; 40.2%) lub mają zwolnienie lekarskie z tych zajęć (7; 4.1%). Stwarza ono duże zagrożenie dla ich zdrowia prokreacyjnego, prawidłowego przebiegu ciąży, zdrowia noworodka i dziecka w późniejszym okresie jego życia. Cel pracy. Celem pracy było ukazanie skali problemu oraz skutków spożywania alkoholu przez kobiety w okresie ciąży. Skrócony opis stanu wiedzy. Z przeglądu piśmiennictwa wynika, iż skala problemu jest trudna do oszacowania. Negatywnych skutków jest zdecydowanie więcej niż pozytywnych. Dotychczas nie określono jeszcze bezpiecznej dawki alkoholu dla ciężarnych, a kobiet spożywających napoje alkoholowe w tym czasie jest wciąż za duża. Świadomość konsekwencji takich zachowań nie zawsze idzie w parze z całkowitą rezygnacją z picia alkoholu podczas ciąży. Podsumowanie. Istnieje potrzeba większego niż dotychczas angażowania się pracowników medycznych (lekarzy położników i położnych) w działalność nie tylko informacyjną, lecz także edukacyjną i wspierającą. Alcohol consumption by women in the reproductive period is a current problem in many countries around the world. It poses a great threat to their reproductive health, the correct parturition, the health of the newborn and the child in the later part of its life. Aim. It was the aim of this work to present the scale of the problem as well as the results of women’s alcohol consumption during pregnancy. Brief description of the state of the art. The review of the bibliography indicates that the scale of the problem is hard to assess. Negative effects are much more prevalent than the positive ones. A safe unit dose for pregnant women has not yet been established and the number of women consuming alcohol during this period is still too high. The awareness of the consequences of such actions is not always accompanied by complete abstinence from alcohol consumption during pregnancy. Conclusion. This calls for a greater involvement than before on the part of the medical personnel (gynaecologists-obstetricians and midwifes) in the informative but also educational and supportive activities. Przegląd piśmiennictwa na temat wpływu działania kofeiny na organizm kobiety oraz skutków jej spożywania w okresie ciąży i laktacji. Skrócony opis stanu wiedzy. Działanie kofeiny na organizm kobiety oraz jej wpływ na przebieg ciąży i zdrowie dziecka nie zostały dotychczas w pełni poznane. Znajduje się ona w wielu produktach, a to sprawia, że jej całkowite, dzienne spożycie jest trudne do oceny. Podsumowanie. Z przeglądu piśmiennictwa wynika, że duży odsetek kobiet ciężarnych ma zwyczaj codziennego picia herbaty i/lub kawy z kofeiną. Zakres embriotoksycznego działania tej substancji zależy od jej dawki, częstości spożywania oraz stanu zdrowia kobiety ciężarnej. Stanowiska autorów, co do stosowania napojów zawierających kofeinę w tym czasie, a także ich skutków, są podzielone. Większość jednak podziela pogląd, iż w ciąży i w okresie laktacji należy ograniczyć, a najlepiej zaniechać, spożywanie takich napojów. Zasadne jest zatem, aby działania promujące i wspierające zdrowy styl życia kobiet w wieku rozrodczym dotyczyły, między innymi, tej kwestii. Słowa kluczowe: kofeina, ciężarna, zdrowie, ciąża, płód. Stimulants in pregnancy - caffeine Summary Introduction. Caffeine belongs to the group of psychoactive substances, which are available to the public and widely propagated around the whole world. Its effect on women’s health, the course of pregnancy and the development of the foetus has been the subject of many discussions, arguments and scientific research for many years. Aim. The review of bibliography on the subject of the effects of caffeine on women’s organism and the results of its consumption during pregnancy and lactation. Brief description of the state of the art. The effects of caffeine on the organism of a woman and its influence on parturition and the health of the baby have not yet been fully identified. It can be found in many food products, which makes it hard to evaluate its total daily intake. Conclusion. The review of the bibliography indicates that a significant number of pregnant women habitually consumes tea and/or coffee containing caffeine every day. The scope of the embryotoxic effects of this substance depends on its dosage, the frequency of its consumption and the pregnant woman’s state of health. The opinions of various authors on the consumption of beverages containing caffeine in this period as well as its effects are divided. However, the majority shares the view that one should limit, or preferably abstain from, drinking such beverages during pregnancy and lactation. It is therefore appropriate for the activities promoting and supporting a healthy lifestyle for women in the reproductive period to pertain to this matter. W każdej społeczności na świecie żyją osoby, które doświadczyły w swoim życiu różnych form przemocy domowej. Media dość często przekazują informacje o nich, niekiedy jednak zbyt późno, czyli w sytuacji, gdy doszło już do tragedii. Cel pracy. Ukazanie zjawiska przemocy domowej jako wciąż aktualnego, trudnego do zdiagnozowania i rozwiązania problemu. Skrócony opis stanu wiedzy. W opracowaniu zdefiniowano określenia: przemoc domowa oraz przemoc w rodzinie, które dość często w piśmiennictwie używane są zamiennie. Omówiono typy i cykle przemocy oraz skalę zjawiska nie tylko w Polsce, określając ją jako trudną do rzetelnego oszacowania. Podkreślono, iż najczęściej odbywa się ona w domu i stosowana może być wobec wszystkich domowników. Zróżnicowano także czynniki ryzyka oraz scharakteryzowano ofiary, jak i cechy sprawców przemocy domowej. Podsumowanie. Analiza piśmiennictwa pokazała, iż przemoc domowa nie może być niezauważona. Niewątpliwie ona istnieje, pomimo chęci, zwłaszcza ze strony ofiar, ukrycia jej. W wymiarze ogólnopolskim ma nawet w ostatnich latach tendencją wzrostową. Dlatego ważne są działania zapobiegawcze, z udziałem całego społeczeństwa. Słowa kluczowe: przemoc domowa, przemoc w rodzinie. Domestic violence Summary Introduction. In every community in the world there live people who has experienced different acts of domestic violence in their life. Media quite often provide information about them, however sometimes too late, i.e. in a situation where there was already a tragedy. Aim of the study. Showing the phenomenon of domestic as a perennial problem, difficult to be diagnosed and solved. Brief description of the state of the art. The terms: domestic violence and family violence were defined in the study, and are very often used interchangeably in the literature. The types and cycles of violence and the scale of this phenomenon not only in Poland were discussed, formulating the opinion that the phenomenon is hard to be realistically assessed. It was emphasized that it usually happens at homes and can be used towards all family members. Also risk factors were diversified as well as victims and perpetrators of domestic violence were characterized. Conclusion. Analysis of the literature showed that domestic violence cannot be unnoticed. With no doubt it exists, despite the desire, especially on the part of the victims, to hide it. In terms of nationwide dimension, there is even a growth tendency in the last years. They are therefore important preventive actions, with the participation of the whole society. Specjaliści koncentrują się na kreowaniu zmiany niektórych zachowań zdrowotnych. Cel Sprawdzenie, jakie zachowania zdrowotne cechują starzejących się mężczyzn i od czego to zależy. Materiał i metody Badaniami objęto 119 mężczyzn, w wieku 45 – 55 lat, hospitalizowanych w oddziale kardiologii, urologii lub leczących się w poradni przyszpitalnej. Prowadzono je od czerwca 2013 roku do lutego 2014 r. W badaniach wykorzystano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego, z użyciem kwestionariusza ankiety własnej konstrukcji oraz standaryzowanego Inwentarza Zachowań Zdrowotnych. Wyniki Ogólny wskaźnik zachowań zdrowotnych (IZZ – ZZ) w badanej grupie mieścił się w granicach od 43 punktów (1 sten) do 111 punktów (10 sten), przy czym średnia wynosiła 78,5 + 15,1 punktów, co odpowiada 5 – 6 stenowi. Dominującym zachowaniem zdrowotnym w badanej grupie było pozytywne nastawienie psychiczne. Różnica w nasileniu ogólnego wskaźnika zachowań zdrowotnych zarysowała się w kategorii zachowań profilaktycznych (p = 0.04). Aim: The aim of this study was to examine whether and what is the relationship between age of women andthe need for emotional support while awaiting the scheduled gynaecological surgery. Material and methods: The study comprised 272 women who, within 2 months of 2008, underwent plannedgynaecological surgeries in one of four selected hospitals in Lublin and Warsaw. The research tool was a questionnairedesigned specifically for this study. The main study was preceded by a pilot study carried out among25 women, the results of which were excluded from this study. Results: In nearly half (45.6%) of the respondents the suggestion of surgery induced negative feelings, suchas fear, distrust and objections. Most women (72.8%) feared most the detection (or confirmation) of malignancy.Others were afraid of pain, complications, loss of femininity and/or fertility. Psychological support from theothers was expected by 87.9% of respondents. The waiting time for surgery was adequate in the subjective assessmentof the majority (79.0%). The division of women on grounds of age adopted in this study, differentiatedsignificantly most of the studied characteristics of respondents, with the exception of demographic data. Conclusions: 1. Older women (> 49 years) more often than the younger (aged ≤ 49 years), feel fear of detection(or confirmation) of malignant neoplasm, find the waiting time for surgery appropriate and expect supportprimarily from medical staff. 2. Older women less likely than younger ones can expect – in their view – theassistance and support of families.
