- Abstract
Eucharistic adoration is part of Catholic tradition. In many parts of the world, perpetual adoration is flourishing as never before. Presented here for any who respect the Blessed Sacrament, the reflections found in Eucharistic Contemplation provide a distinct style for prayer and veneration.Eucharistic Contemplation is not another book of eucharistic devotions'as has been the style for the past few centuries. The prayers are not directed to Jesus in the Sacrament of the Altar, full of sentiments, feelings, petitions, thanksgiving, praise, or reparation. Rather, these 32 reflections focus on contemplation as a simple, straightforward, and honest prayer. Every short reading leads to moments of silent contemplation. They are meant to serve principally for moments of prayer, yet define the meaning of what contemplation, and specifically eucharistic contemplation, are to people of faith praying before the Blessed sacrament.Prepared and delivered in the parish of San Francisco de Borja, in Lima, Peru, these reflections on the Eucharist use actual prayers from the Church's sacramentary and rites. Each reflection follows the process of Eucharistic contemplation. The first reading should be studied slowly to have a basic understanding of the text. Then, the reader is invited to search out the various scriptural background references, especially from the Old Testament. A re-reading of the text, with pauses, and time for deep silence concludes the meditation.Chapters are •The Mystery of the Love of God, - •Eucharistic Contemplation, - •Mystery/Memorial of Christ, - •United in Blood with One Past, - •The Blood of Christ, - •The Seven Offerings of the Blood of Christ, - •Bread as Living Remembrance, - •Proclaim the Mystery of Faith, - •O Holy Banquet, - •Blood of the Covenant, - •'Remove the Sandals From Your Feet, For the Place on Which You Are Standing is Holy Ground,'- •'I AM WHO I AM,'- •The Meeting Tent, - •'And He Lived Among Us,'- •The Wedding of Cana, - •Bread in the Wilderness, - •The Ark of the Covenant, - •Christ, the Propitiation For Our Sins, - •Christ, the One and Only Sacrifice, - •Advent, - •The Beginning and the End, - •'Let Us Go Up to the House of the Lord,'- •Zen Meditation and the Eucharist, - •Pope John Paul II in the Cenacle of Jerusalem, - •Grace, the Fullness of the Christian Life, - •The Eucharist Where There Is No Eucharist, - •Bread For the Journey, - •The Eucharist and the Servant of the Lord, - •The Eucharist and the Lord of Miracles, - •Mary and Martha, - •Mary and the Eucharist, - •The Eucharist and Prayers of Petition. - Ernest Rally, CPPS, PhD, is the administrator of two parish schools at San Francisco deBorja parish in Lima, Peru.'

- Abstract

- Abstract
Even though she is a Doctor of the Church, St. Thérèse of Lisieux is more well-known for being the “little flower” of Jesus. Through her “little way,” she has inspired many Catholics to love God simply, devoutly, and with great love. St. Thérèse believed that no act of faith is too small for God. Loving God in this way wasn't always easy for St. Thérèse, but even through her suffering and death at age twenty-four she tried to love God with all her heart. In her autobiography, Story of a Soul (L'Histoire d'une Âme), St. Thérèse shares the story of her “little way” and helps us see God in his smallest creations. John Cleary uses passages from Story of a Soul to inspire us to embrace our own smallness this Advent and Christmas and see past the glamour and hype of a material Christmas to the small miracle that comes on December 25.

'Late have I loved you, beauty so old and so new: late have I loved you...I tasted you, and feel but hunger and thirst for you. You touched me, and I am set on fire to attain the peace which is yours.'Augustine of Hippo is arguably one of the most influential Fathers of the Church, but it is not because of his famous works on theology and philosophy that we look to him as a wisdom figure. In his search for the truth, Augustine's writings and ponderings tell as different story of conversion, reminding us of our own daily conversions. His wisdom, founded on and nourished by his gifts of nature and grace, has its roots in the story of his conversion that transformed his life - and through these passages, our own lives -into a confession of praise. In Advent and Christmas Wisdom of St. Augustine, Agnes Cunningham, SSCM, uses passages from St. Augustine's writing to guide and inspire our journey this Advent season. His rich spiritual life forges the way to a season of humility as we continue deeper into the mystery of the Incarnation.

- Abstract
To learn and understand the Our Father and Hail Mary is to learn the deepest contours of the Church's interior life, for both are prayers that come from the Holy Spirit, who is the soul of the Church. At once meditative and catechetical, The Heart of Catholic Prayer dissects the two anchors of our faith line by line in a journey into the Church's deep tradition of prayer, drawing us more deeply into the heart of the mystery of God's love. It's no coincidence the Our Father and the Hail Mary are closely intertwined in the heart of the Church.Mark Shea expertly weaves the contemporary with the historical and the theological with the practical as he opens up these most common of prayers with a fresh and penetrating perspective for all to see. Mere rote recitation of the Our Father and Hail Mary, without knowing what they mean, and why we say them, threatens to characterize God as a kind of cosmic vending machine demanding correct change. Experience the ordinary truths of the Faith that the Church has always taught, but in ways which will generate a spark of recognition in the contemporary mind. Upon completion of this book, you will never recite either of these prayers in the same way again.

- Abstract
In Women of the New Testament, Pía Septién presents eleven women who encountered the living God. Some knew him personally and spoke with him, like Mary Magdalene or the sisters, Martha and Mary. Others, like Elizabeth, recognized him as God even before he was born. In their friendships with Christ, these women found strength for their lives. Their stories are offered here in prose, with reflections on the virtues and lessons they teach us, notes from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, questions for the individual and group, and prayers. When you use Women of the New Testament as a guide for personal reflection or as a group Bible study, you'll discover what it was that those women saw in Jesus, what led them to follow him, and what they teach us today. You will also realize what he saw in them; for just like us, they were in need of God's love. Women of the New Testament include: Mary the Mother of Jesus Mary Magdalene Elizabeth, Mary's cousin Anna the Prophetess Martha and Mary (Lazarus'sisters) Samaritan Woman Lydia, who opened her heart and home to Jesus Hemorrhaging The Widow and her Offering Non-Jewish Woman Paperback

- Abstract
In the Gospel of John Jesus directs us, Abide in me, as I abide in you. This book is an invitation to make the Word of God your home through the practice of lectio divina.Macrina Wiederkehr, OSB, encourages you to turn the words of Scripture over in your heart as a plough turns over the soil to welcome the seed. In these scriptural meditations, the piercing reflective questions and personal prayers lead the reader into a deeper relationship with the Divine. Aware that drawing near the Word of God requires a special kind of presence, the author invites you to breathe in the Word, wait before the Word, walk through the pages of Scripture as a pilgrim, and, finally, abide in an intimate and transforming communion with God. The format of the book lends itself not only to daily personal prayer and reflection, but to group faith sharing as well. Macrina Wiederkehr, OSB, (1939-2020), author of the popular A Tree Full of Angels (HarperCollins) and Seven Sacred Pauses (Ave Maria), was well known for her creative spiritual writings and retreat ministry.
