- Abstract
This article presents the results of a study carried out in two stages; the first phase consisted of a theoretical review about violence in in-timate gays couples, the second, through an in-depth interview, ob-tained empirical data that eventually allowed the analysis of a case of violence. The objective of the study was to contextualize the state of research in this area, while recognizing the associated devices for its implementation. As a result, various mechanisms and forms of vio-lence that are set in motion in the intimacy of the relationship were identified both in the literature and in the historicity of the subject, such as: coercion to maintain sexual relations, blackmail and jealousy. In conclusion, these elements contribute to the complexity of the phe-nomenon, as well as its difficulty in addressing it, being even in some societies the violence between gay couples more recurrent than in heterosexual couples, in addition to presenting diverse peculiarities in its manifestation that require greater research approaches., En este artículo se presentan los resultados de un estudio llevado a cabo en dos etapas; la primera fase consistió en una revisión teórica acerca de la violencia en parejas íntimas gais, la segunda, mediante una entrevista a profundidad se obtuvieron datos empíricos que a la postre permitieron el análisis de un caso de violencia.

- Abstract
The discipline of nursing needs to identify with a philosophy that allows give an interpretive sense of social or individual phenomena; and qualitative research provides the necessary methodology to perform the interpretation of the meanings under a critical and reflective analysis. Introduction: As a chronic disease, diabetes is a disastrous event bringing about negative behaviors regarding the treatment adherence, which makes necessary the use of cognitive and social theories in order to redirect the nursing care. Objective: To answer the guiding research questions: What is the social representation that women have about Diabetes Type 2? What elements form the central core and the peripheral systems of the social representation? Method: This is a comprehensive review using the Prism Method as a guide. It includes articles whose primary descriptors are "social representations", "Diabetes Type 2" and "women"; and the secondary descriptor "type 2 diabetes patients". The search was carried out in systematized databases: Web of Science, Medline, PubMed, SciELO, LILACS, Bireme, and CUIDEN. Results: The findings indicate that diabetes phenomenon gave rise to an irreversible social representation. This system of data, attitudes and beliefs is organized and structured around the suffering, feeding, exercise and medication, which makes difficult to ascertain the social identity and, probably, the treatment adherence specific to this disease. Conclusion: To identify the structure of the social representation and elements forming the central core allows the health professionals to plan interventions intended to favor the social identity and treatment adherence among women with diabetes type 2. - Abstract
It is indispensable for nursing professionals to have their own theories to help them scientifically support care, so as to make the practice of this discipline more autonomous and safer. The purpose of this study was to generate a middle range theory to explain the phenomenon of risky sexual behavior on the part of adolescents. Fawcett's theoretical derivation method was used to develop the conceptual-theoretical-empirical structure of the proposed theory. A literature review made it possible to structure the model of sexual resilience in adolescents based on the concepts and proposals that constitute the risk factors, the protective factors and the outcome factor influencing resilience during the period of adolescent development. The model also contributes to the design of psycho-educational interventions focused on preventing the sort of sexual conduct that poses a risk of contracting HIV., Para o profissional de enfermagem, é indispensável contar com teorias próprias que o ajude a sustentar cientificamente o cuidado, o que permite ele realizar uma prática disciplinar mais autônoma e segura. Background: Alcohol and tobacco use among young people with human immunodeficiency virus represents a problem due to its impact on their health. Objectives: To determine the prevalence of alcohol and tobacco use among young people with human immunodeficiency virus. Methodology: Cross-sectional descriptive study. The sample included 70 young people with human immunodeficiency virus registered in an outpatient center for prevention and care of AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases. A confidence level of 95% was used. Results: We found that 100% of young people had drink alcohol at some point in their life, with a harmful consumption of 95.7%. Similarly, 81.4% of young people had smoked at some point in their life, with a predominance of experimental smokers (50%). Conclusion: A high prevalence of alcohol and tobacco use was observed among young people with human immunodeficiency virus. Therefore, nursing interventions should be implemented with a view to effectively reducing, delaying or avoiding the consumption of these substances. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PSYCHOLOGY of high school students , *HUMAN sexuality , *GENDER differences (Psychology) , *AGE differences , *RISK-taking behavior in adolescence - Abstract
Objective: To compare sexual risk behaviors among high school students and differentiate them by age, gender, and level of sexual resilience. Methods and Materials: Descriptive, cross-sectional and explanatory study. A stratified random sampling was used. The sample consisted of 182 adolescents, age 15 and 16 years from two educational institutions. Results: The research instruments used presented acceptable reliability values. Sixty nine percent of the adolescents were 16 years old and 64% were female. Adolescents aged 16 years had higher averages on sexual risk behaviors (M = 12.1, SD = 23.3) than aged 15 years (M = 4.76, SD=14.6), U=2,984.0, p=.038. Regarding gender, significant differences were found (U=3,714.0, p=.017) between females (M = 7.45, SD = 2.77) and males (M = 8.01, SD=2.03). Significant differences were also found in the level of sexual resilience (U=2,809.0, p=.034); the age 15 group presented lower levels (M=60.5, SD=13.6) than the age 16 group (M=65.0, SD=17.3). A Lineal Regression Model showed that age, gender and marital status were the main contributors to sexual risk behavior (F=1.85, R2ajusted=.065, p=.052). Another Linear Regression Model showed that age, gender and marital status were significant predictors of the level or resilience (F=5.4, R2adjusted=.07, p=.001). Research on sexual risk behavior among adolescents and factors that affect such conduct is valuable to understand the adolescents' motivations to practice or avoid sexual risk behaviors. Introduction: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of an Internet-based intervention to reduce sexual risk behaviors and increase resilience to sexual risk behaviors among Mexican adolescents, a key HIV/AIDS risk group.Methodology: The study had a quasi-experimental design with single-stage cluster sampling. Participants ages 14–17 were stratified by gender and randomly assigned to either receive intervention “Connect” (which included face-to-face and Internet-based sessions designed to reduce sexual risk behaviors and increase resilience to sexual risk) or control (a general educational video on reducing health risks). A total of 9 survey instruments were administered online through SurveyMonkey pre- and post-intervention to assess changes in sexual risk and protective factors as well as two outcomes of interest: risky sexual behaviors and resilience. Pearson correlation assessed instrument reliability while multivariable linear regression models assessed two study hypotheses: (1) the effect of the intervention on sexual behavior and resilience is mediated by adolescent age, gender, and sexual experience and (2) risk and protective factors are mediators between the intervention and sexual behavior. Results: The sample was composed of 193 adolescents between 14 and 17 years old (n = 96 in the control group andn = 97 in the experimental group). Survey instruments were reliable. Age was associated with pre-to-post test changes in sexual resilience (β = −6.10,p = .019), which partially mediated the effect of the intervention on sexual resilience (β = 5.70,p = .034). Social support was associated with pre-to-post test changes in risky sexual behavior (β = −0.17,p = .039).Conclusion: Intervention “Connect” was independently associated with improved self-reported resilience to risky sexual behaviors, though not with a reduction in those behaviors in multivariate analyses. This is the first Internet-based intervention designed to reduce HIV/AIDS sexual risk among Mexican adolescents. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

- Abstract

- Abstract
Objective: To analyze the relationship and effect of alcohol use on Child-to-Parent Violence (CPV)., Method: Cross-sectional, observational study with a quantitative approach, carried out through online data collection using the Conflict Tactics Scale (CTS2) and the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) in 318 high school adolescents from southern Mexico., Results: Moderate and significant relationships were found between alcohol use and verbal (rs = 0.408, p = 0.001) and economic violence against the mother (rs = 0.445, p = 0.001). A similar situation is presented in physical (rs = 0.473, p = 0.001), verbal (rs = 0.236, p = 0.001) and economic (rs = 0.477, p = 0.001) violence directed to the father., Conclusion: The relation among the variables was supported by Multiple Linear Regression models, with alcohol consumption in adolescents being a predictor of violence against mothers and fathers.
