[EN]: Addictive disorders are a serious health problem to which large amounts of research resources are devoted. This study aims to analyze the evolution and scientific impact of the publications derived from the funding of research projects by the Spanish National Plan on Drugs (PNSD). The list of grants awarded was provided by the PNSD. Derived publications were obtained by asking the principal investigators of the grants and searching in the Web of Science and Scopus. Bibliometric indicators and evolutive trends of scientific production per project were calculated. On average, the PNSD conferred 15 annual grants to research projects, with an annual amount close to one million euros (€944,200.64) and an average amount per grant of just over €60,000, being higher in basic research and in alcohol. 71,9% of the grants had derived publications and almost half of them produced between one and three publications, with basic research being the most prolific. The international journal in which most articles were published was Psychopharmacology (50) and among Spanish journals, Adicciones stood out (28). A high level of co-authorship and international collaboration was identified. Most of the PNSD-funded projects produced research articles, many of them in journals belonging to the first and second quartiles of the Journal Citation Reports. The results of this study have revealed the scientific impact of the PNSD research projects funding and may contribute to determining future funding priorities., [ES]: Los trastornos adictivos son un grave problema de salud al que se destinan gran cantidad de recursos de investigación. El propósito de este trabajo es analizar la evolución e impacto científico de las publicaciones derivadas de las ayudas a proyectos de investigación financiados por el Plan Nacional Sobre Drogas (PNSD). La relación de ayudas concedidas fue proporcionada por el PNSD. Las publicaciones derivadas se obtuvieron preguntando a los investigadores principales de las ayudas y buscando en Web of Science y Scopus. Se calcularon indicadores bibliométricos y tendencias evolutivas de la producción científica por proyecto. Por término medio, el PNSD concedió 15 ayudas anuales a proyectos de investigación, con un importe anual cercano al millón de euros (944.200,64€) y un importe medio por ayuda de algo más de 60.000€, siendo mayor en la investigación básica y en alcohol. El 71,9% de las ayudas tuvieron publicaciones derivadas y casi la mitad produjeron entre una y tres publicaciones, siendo la investigación básica la más prolífica. La revista extranjera en la que más artículos se publicaron fue Psychopharmacology (50) y entre las españolas destacó Adicciones (28). Se identificó un alto índice de coautoría y de colaboración internacional. La mayoría de los proyectos financiados por el PNSD produjeron artículos de investigación y muchos de ellos en revistas del primer y segundo cuartil del Journal Citation Reports. Los resultados de este estudio han permitido conocer la repercusión científica de las ayudas a proyectos de investigación del PNSD y puede contribuir a determinar futuras prioridades de financiación.

[EN]: In recent years, publishers, journals, public and private organizations, as well as academic institutions, have promoted the sharing of material that is part of the research process, but which for various reasons has not been included in the final publication. However, little is known about how much material is actually shared and what its characteristics are. For this reason, the objective of this study is to analyze to what extent the teaching and research staff (PDI) of the University of Valencia (UV) share additional material in scientific publications. For this, a representative sample of the 5,679 articles published by the UV PDI was obtained in 2018. The results obtained show that only a quarter of the documents have some type of additional material, with a low frequency of files with reusable material and they were especially focused on specific knowledge areas. However, of these, a large majority are in the first quartile of the Journal Cititation Report or Scimago Journal Rank. It is suggested the need to establish policies at the Universitat de Valencia that promote training on the deposit of additional material and research data in research articles., [ES]: Las editoriales, revistas, organismos públicos y privados, así como las instituciones académicas, han pro-movido en los últimos años la compartición de aquel material que forma parte del proceso de investigación, pero que por diversas razones no se ha podido incluir en la publicación final. No obstante, poco se sabe sobre cuánto de este material adicional efectivamente se comparte y cuáles son sus características. Por ello, el objetivo de este estudio es analizar en qué medida comparte material adicional en publicaciones científicas el personal docente e investiga-dor (PDI) de la Universitat de València (UV). Para ello, se obtuvo una muestra representativa de los 5.679 artículos publicados por el PDI de la UV en el año 2018. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que solo una cuarta parte de los documentos tiene algún tipo de material adicional, con una baja frecuencia de archivos con material reutilizable y focalizados especialmente en áreas del conocimiento específicas. Sin embargo, de estos, una gran mayoría están en el primer cuartil de Journal Cititation Report o Scimago Journal Rank. Se sugiere la necesidad de establecer políticas en la Universitat de València que promuevan la formación sobre el depósito de material adicional y datos de investi-gación en los artículos de investigación.

[Introduction]: The aim of this study was to analyze scientific production, collaboration among countries, and research topics focusing on pediatric obesity. [Methods]: The papers that were included in the study were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection from Clarivate Analytics. A bibliometric analysis of several focuses, including journals of publication, subject categories, most frequent author keywords, and journal impact factors, was conducted. Social network analysis was used to recognize collaboration groups between countries and the co-occurrences of author keywords. [Results]: A total of 12,171 research articles were published in 2036 journals classified under a variety of subject areas, with pediatrics (27.7%), nutrition and dietetics (18.5%), and public environmental and occupational health (18.4%) accounting for the most frequent study areas, and Pediatric Obesity (309), the International Journal of Obesity (299), and BMC Public Health being the most productive journals. The main challenges identified for pediatric obesity include general topics such as physical activity, nutrition, diet, and prevention as well as other more specific challenges such as metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, eating behavior, and cardiovascular diseases. [Conclusions]: We observed a growth rate in the number of published articles of 59.8%, which serves as evidence of the importance of the topic. The number of funded papers also doubled from 2010 to 2019. There has been significant global collaboration on the topic, with countries across five continents being involved. The results of the thematic analysis reveal the importance of exercise and nutrition-related topics along with specialized health terms and terms related to public health.

In the scientific journals, being part of the editorial boards, including the journals' members and chief editors, involves holding positions of power and responsibility that affect the running of a journal. Until now, these positions have usually been held by men in most scientific disciplines. In this study, the gender composition in the editorial board members (EBMs) and editor-in-chief (ECs) of the 45 Women's Studies journals classified in the Journal Citation Report (JCR) was analyzed. The following indicators were calculated: the gender distribution of ECs and EBMs by journal, publisher, country, and quartile of the journal in the JCR; the geographical area of the members; and the gender distribution of the authors of papers grouped by journal, and geographical area. The gender distribution of the ECs was 92 % women, while that of the EBMs was 82.2 %. Regarding the articles and reviews published during 2019, a 72.4 % were signed by women. These results display an “inverted truncated pyramid”: the higher the level of decision-making positions is, the higher the percentage of women. On the other hand, the results by geographical area shows an Anglo-Saxon and European bias.

Chemometrics has been defined as the discipline that provides maximum information from chemical data. Food science and technology applications use chemical data and are therefore suitable for chemometrics evaluation. Bibliometric studies provide an enhanced understanding of the progression, research status as well as future trends of a research field. The main aim of the study was therefore, to provide a bibliometric evaluation of the research literature employing chemometrics techniques in food science and technology applications. For this, a search strategy including the single term chemometric∗ was performed. The metadata obtained from the bibliometric search was subsequently analyzed. Indicators of the scientific productivity and quality such as the number of articles, citations, or funding activity, were obtained in combination with the most relevant keywords, authors, and countries. The progression over time of the bibliometric indicators was also presented and discussed. Chemometrics appeared as a prolific and healthy research field with increased funding received in the last decade. PCA, PLS and DA are still the preferred methods for most applications. A big part of the research is related to the combined use of spectroscopy and chemometrics. Finally, China and Brazil appeared as the leading countries in applying chemometrics to foodstuffs.

[EN]: [Introduction]: It has been observed that women are less represented in research on addictions, which may diminish their contribution to the area. Purpose: To analyze the existence of gender inequality in different activities related to research on addictions. [Methods]: The representation of Spanish women was calculated from three perspectives: in the grants to research projects funded by the Spanish Plan Nacional Sobre Drogas (PNSD), in the publications derived from these projects, and in the editorial committees (EC) of a selection of journals on addictions. [Results]: Only 26.9% of the main researchers in the PNSD grants were women. No statistically significant differences were observed between the sex of the principal investigator, the number of researchers, their sex and the collabo-ration with researchers of another sex in the publications. In three foreign journals only one Spanish woman partici-pates as the only member of the EC (Alcohol and Alcoholism, Alcohol and Addictive Behaviors). [Conclusions]: Only a third of the main researchers of the PNSD grants are women and their representation has not increased in recent years. The presence of women in the EC of the Spanish journals of addictions is the fifth part that the one of the men and in the foreign journals their representation is smaller., [ES]: [Introducción]: Se ha constatado una menor representación de las mujeres en la investigación sobre adicciones que puede mermar su aportación al área. [Objetivo]: Analizar las diferencias de género en las distintas actividades relacionadas con la investigación en adiccio-nes. Material y método: Se calculó la representación de las mujeres españolas desde tres perspectivas: en las ayudas a proyectos de investigación financiados por el Plan Nacional Sobre Drogas (PNSD), en las publicaciones derivadas de estos proyectos, y en los comités editoriales (CE) de una selección de revistas sobre adicciones. [Resultados]: El 26,9% de investigadores principales de las ayudas del PNSD fueron mujeres. No se obsevaron diferen-cias estadísticamente significativas entre el sexo del investigador principal, el número de investigadores, su sexo y la colaboración con investigadores de otro sexo en las publicaciones. En tres revistas extranjeras sólo participa una mujer española como único miembro del CE (Alcohol and Alcoholism, Alcohol y Addictive Behaviors). [Conclusiones]: Sólo una tercera parte de los investigadores principales de las ayudas del PNSD son mujeres y su re-presentación no ha aumentado en los últimos años. La presencia de mujeres en los CE de las revistas españolas de adicciones es la quinta parte que la de los hombres y en las revistas extranjeras su representación es menor.

[Aims]: The increase in scientific interest in so-called behavioral addictions has been growing in recent years. For this reason, the aim of our study is to use bibliometric techniques to identify where and with what intensity these behaviors are being studied. [Methods]: In October 2020, we conducted a search in the Web of Science Core Collection using a search equation designed to retrieve the articles that combine the general keywords of addiction with specific terms of the 7 groups of behavioral addictions analyzed (gambling; gaming; information and communication related disorders; and the so-called somatic addictions related to sex, shopping, food and sports). Articles published from 1995 to 2019 were included. [Results]: We found 9199 distinct articles. Gambling was the most studied addiction, but Information and Technology Communication-related disorders (ITC) had the highest growth rate over the span of five five-year periods, followed by gaming and food addiction. In general, there was a growth rate of 130.46% in the research on behavioral addiction issues. By geographical region, the United States was the most productive country regarding all addictions, but Oceania had the highest proportion of publications per million population. There was a clear interest among Asian countries in studying problems related to ITC and gaming problems. [Conclusions]: The importance of the seven behavioral addictions analyzed according to their growth rate in scientific research fields over the last 25 years was confirmed in our study. In addition, the differences in interest by geographical region show us that it is important to delve deeper into cultural particularities to better understand this phenomenon.

[EN]: Eating disorders and addictions are one of the major health problems in contemporary society and a great deal of resources are devoted to research into their prevention and treatment. Objectives. To analyze Spanish research in the area of food addictions and disorders since the first work collected in bibliographic databases was published and from a bibliometric perspective. Methodology. To obtain the necessary information, the Web of Science, Scopus and CSIC databases were consulted. A specific search profile was drawn up. Bibliometric indicators of production, collaboration and scientific impact were obtained. The analysis of social networks was used to identify the groups of researchers and their collaborative relationships, as well as the network of key co-words. Results. Scientific production increased progressively during the almost 50 years analyzed. The papers were published in a wide diversity of national and foreign journals, among which are: Addictions, Revista Española de Drogodependencias, Trastornos Adictivos and Salud y Drogas stand out. Conclusions. The production, collaboration and impact of the research increased and the most studied addictions were smoking, alcoholism, cocaine use and amphetamine use., [ES]: Las adicciones y los trastornos de la alimentación constituyen uno de los principales problemas de salud en la sociedad contemporánea al que se destinan gran cantidad de recursos destinados a la investigación para su prevención y tratamiento. Objetivos. Analizar la investigación española en el área de adicciones y trastornos de la alimentación desde que se publicó el primer trabajo recogido en bases de datos bibliográficas y desde una perspectiva bibliométrica. Metodología. Para obtener la información necesaria se consultaron las bases de datos Web of Science, Scopus y bases de datos del CSIC. Se elaboró un perfil de búsqueda específico. Se obtuvieron indicadores bibliométricos de producción, colaboración e impacto científico. Se utilizó el análisis de redes sociales para identificar las redes de investigadores y sus relaciones de colaboración, así como la red de co-palabras clave. Resultados. La producción científica aumentó progresivamente durante los casi 50 años analizados. Los trabajos se publicaron en una gran variedad de revistas nacionales y extranjeras, entre las que destacaron Adicciones, Revista Española de Drogodependencias, Trastornos Adictivos y Salud y Drogas. Conclusiones. La producción, colaboración e impacto de la investigación ha sido creciente y las adicciones más estudiadas fueron el tabaquismo, alcoholismo, consumo de cocaína y consumo de anfetaminas.

[Purpose]: To characterize the global research trend in radiology departments based on bibliometric indicators., [Material and method]: As a source of information, Science Citation Index Expanded and Journal Citation Reports from Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) were used. Annual trends, journals of publication, subject categories of journals, collaboration indexes between authors and institutions, network of cowords and most cited papers were identified and analysed. The period of study was 2009–2018., [Results]: 283,587 downloaded papers were analysed. The number of articles was increasing, as well as the percentage of funded works. Papers were published in 7314 different journals, being the most productive Plos One (5077), followed by American Journal of Roentgenology (4602) and European Radiology (3644). Most productive subject categories of journals were Radiology, Nuclear Medicine & Medical Imaging (86,568 papers), Clinical Neurology (29,722) and Surgery (23,564). International collaboration has increased more than 5 points, from 15.2% in 2009 to 20.7% in 2018., [Conclusions]: Most cited articles were published in high impact journals outside the scope of diagnostic imaging. Most influential topics included technical innovations within imaging modalities. MRI replaced conventional radiography and CT as the imaging technique of choice in imaging research.

The number of citations a peer-reviewed article receives is often used as a measure of its importance and scientific impact. This paper identifies, describes and categorizes the highly cited papers in addiction research on cannabis, heroin, cocaine and psychostimulants. Highly cited papers were identified in the Web of Science Core Collection database. Several bibliometric indicators were calculated. Social network analysis was applied to draw groups of authors and institutions with the greatest number of collaborations and co-words. The number of citations for the top 100 cited articles ranged from 649 to 4,672. The articles were published in 40 journals. The subject category Substance Abuse included 10 papers. The United States was the most productive country (79 papers), followed by the United Kingdom (9). The main funding institutions were the National Institutes of Health in the United States. The network of collaboration between authors distributes the 352 researchers into 53 groups. The three most cited works address the neural basis of drug craving as an incentive-sensitization theory of addiction, the clinical and research uses of the Addiction Severity Index, and the neurocircuitry of addiction. Scientific literature on addictions is widely dispersed both in multidisciplinary and specific journals of neurology, psychiatry and addictions, with relatively few publications providing most of the citations. An ongoing challenge for this field is the concentration of highly cited papers coming from a select number of countries, with the United States being the research hub of the world, with the highest volume of publications and total citations.

Peer-reviewed articles’ importance and impact are often measured by their number of citations. Studies mapping global research in specific addictions, like tobacco, alcoholis, and cocaine, have been published. Purpose: This work aims to identify, revise, and categorize highly cited papers in drug addiction and drug use disorder of illicit drugs: cannabis, opioids, cocaine and other stimulants, or hallucinogens

Analizar la producción científica derivada de los proyectos de investigación financiados por la Delegación del Gobierno para el Plan Nacional sobre Drogas (DGPNSD).

Las nuevas tecnologías están transformando y redefiniendo la forma de relacionarse de los jóvenes. De una sociabilidad cara a cara se está pasando a una sociabilidad virtual (Cáceres, Brändle y Ruiz, 2017), donde las conversaciones son fundamentalmente informales y se dan incluso altas dosis de exhibicionismo (Bernete, 2010). Este uso se está asociando con efectos potencialmente negativos.

[EN]:The Covid-19 pandemic has introduced challenges throughout the world and is endangering people’s prosperity. To these health, economic, political, and social challenges have been added those related to the management and dissemination of information, mainly concerning its exponential growth, veracity, and dissemination. Providing objective evidence-based information contributes to meeting these challenges. Social media and social networks are playing a key role in informing society about the evolution of the pandemic and progress towards its eradication. However, social networks are also a vehicle for the transmission of biased or false news that can endanger people’s health. Information professionals play a key role in correcting misinformation if they are able to filter out untruthful information and make resources with proven quality available to the population. In addition, they must manage scientific information about the pandemic, which is advancing at an accelerated pace. Currently, China is the leader while Spain is in fifth place in the development of research projects and scientific publications. The scientific research focuses on epidemiological aspects, respiratory diseases, drug treatments, and diagnostic tests. Many journals, databases, repositories, and other information systems have made their publications and other information resources available in record time to encourage the progress of such research., [ES]: La pandemia de la Covid-19 ha generado desafíos en todo el mundo y está poniendo en peligro la prosperidad de la población. A los desafíos sanitarios, económicos, políticos y sociales, se han añadido los relacionados con la gestión y difusión de la información, debidos sobre todo a su crecimiento exponencial, su veracidad y difusión. Proporcionar información objetiva basada en pruebas contribuye a afrontar estos desafíos. Los medios de comunicación social y las redes sociales están jugando un papel clave informando a la sociedad de la evolución de la pandemia y de los avances hacia su erradicación. Sin embargo, las redes sociales también son el vehículo de transmisión de noticias poco objetivas o falsas que pueden poner en peligro la salud de las personas. Los profesionales de la información juegan un papel clave para corregir la desinformación si son capaces de filtrar la información veraz y poner a disposición de la población recursos de calidad contrastada. Además, deben gestionar la información científica sobre la pandemia que avanza a un ritmo acelerado, con China como líder y España en el quinto lugar en el desarrollo de proyectos de investigación y publicaciones científicas. Las investigaciones hacen hincapié en los aspectos epidemiológicos, enfermedades respiratorias, tratamientos farmacológicos y pruebas diagnósticas. Numerosas revistas, bases de datos, repositorios y otros sistemas de información han puesto en abierto sus publicaciones y otros recursos informativos en tiempo record para favorecer el avance de las investigaciones.
