Television has the potential to be a vector for mainstream audiences to learn about climate change and feel motivated to act. Comedic framings of climate change, while well-studied in television news and late-night comedies, remain under-explored in scripted television comedies. The goal of this study was to use frame analysis to understand temporal trends in climate comedy and analyze how the framing of climate change in comedy impacts action. I analyzed 134 episodes of television comedies that aired between 1990 and 2020, identifying eight emergent themes from the coding. There were temporal trends existing in the data, particularly a decrease in the use of 'false positive' frames of climate change and an increase in nihilistic framings. There were few positive frames of climate change, particularly those that promote action. Television has the potential to further both knowledge and action through comedies, but this potential remains largely unrealized.

Partnerships are crucial for museums to reach new audiences, expand their approach, and simply survive in these uncertain times. While practices for effective partnerships between large museums and other institutions are well-documented, the needs of small museums pursuing partnership are less studied. To understand the specific needs of partners, we conducted semi-structured interviews with nine small non-academical informal learning environments (SNAILEs) that focused on their current partnerships and their past experiences with partnerships. Many of the effective partnerships were found to be between similar-sized organizations, while ineffective partnerships predominantly were between a smaller and a larger organization. In analyzing these interviews, we noticed 3 emergent themes about best practices for partnerships. First, if a small institution with a larger organization, it is crucial for shared alignment in goals. Second, SNAILEs need flexibility in funding in order to realize their end of a partnership. Finally, while many SNAILEs find MOUs helpful, they should be written in a way that can be adaptive to their shifting needs. Implementing these practices can be helpful for larger organizations that hope to engage in partnership with SNAILEs.

Going public with research is an important part of the research process. Besides the intrinsic value of sharing experience and insights with a community of peers, in higher education, publishing is vital for job security and promotion. Despite these forces encouraging publishing, few academics actually do. The purpose of this article is to provide an introduction to identifying the hidden rules and explicating the sometimes intimidating world of publishing.

The descriptive paragraph and subsequent essay are usually among the first assignments students must complete in composition classes. Typically, students are told to describe their childhood home, a person of importance, a special object, or a summer vacation. Most students, especially learners of English as a foreign language (EFL), have difficulty beginning the assignment. After experiencing this firsthand teaching an intermediate-level English class to first-year university students in Namibia, Katherine Carter found that visualization based on the five senses--what we touch, see, smell, hear, and taste--can be used as a technique to get ideas down on paper. This technique could be useful for teachers in a variety of EFL teaching contexts, from primary school to university, and can be used with a wide range of texts that are particularly vivid and that stimulate the senses. This article provides a step-by-step description of the technique.

Background: Positive correlations have been reported between wastewater SARS-CoV-2 concentrations and a community's burden of infection, disease or both. However, previous studies mostly compared wastewater to clinical case counts or nonrepresentative convenience samples, limiting their quantitative potential. Objectives: This study examined whether wastewater SARS-CoV-2 concentrations could provide better estimations for SARS-CoV-2 community prevalence than reported cases of COVID-19. In addition, this study tested whether wastewater-based epidemiology methods could identify neighborhood-level COVID-19 hotspots and SARS-CoV-2 variants. Methods: Community SARS-CoV-2 prevalence was estimated from eight randomized door-to-door nasal swab sampling events in six Oregon communities of disparate size, location, and demography over a 10-month period. Simultaneously, wastewater SARS-CoV-2 concentrations were quantified at each community's wastewater treatment plant and from 22 Newport, Oregon, neighborhoods. SARS-CoV-2 RNA was sequenced from all positive wastewater and nasal swab samples. Clinically reported case counts were obtained from the Oregon Health Authority. Results: Estimated community SARS-CoV-2 prevalence ranged from 8 to 1,687/10,000 persons. Community wastewater SARS- CoV-2 concentrations ranged from 2.9 to 5.1 [log.sub.10] gene copies per liter. Wastewater SARS-CoV-2 concentrations were more highly correlated (Pearson's r = 0.96; [R.sup.2] = 0.91) with community prevalence than were clinically reported cases of COVID-19 (Pearson's r = 0.85; [R.sup.2] = 0.73). Monte Carlo simulations indicated that wastewater SARS-CoV-2 concentrations were significantly better than clinically reported cases at estimating prevalence (p < 0.05). In addition, wastewater analyses determined neighborhood-level COVID-19 hot spots and identified SARS-CoV-2 variants (B.1 and B.1.399) at the neighborhood and city scales. Discussion: The greater reliability of wastewater SARS-CoV-2 concentrations over clinically reported case counts was likely due to systematic biases that affect reported case counts, including variations in access to testing and underreporting of asymptomatic cases. Climate change decision-making happens at the intersection of knowledge, values, and experience, usually requiring action with incomplete information. Yet, climate change education prioritizes improving knowledge gaps, not communication and contextual understanding. Role-playing games highlight the interaction of evidence and values in decision-making; they have also been shown to help participants cope with uncertainty. Here, we used a role-playing activity in 8 undergraduate science class sections to explore how role-playing affected climate change decision-making. We found that students selected significantly different climate proposals based on differing affinities with their characters. Students' articulation of 'uncertainty' and 'concreteness' in justifying their final choices were significantly related to their chosen proposals. Students' understanding of circumstance and perspective in driving different priorities/decisions increased significantly. This activity is scalable and broadly applicable; by empowering participants to discuss data and values and make decisions with incomplete information, we might encourage confident participation in the global climate conversation.
