A atividade é totalmente normatizada e regulamentada no Brasil. A adequada avaliação de indicações, prós e contras pode balizar o uso e eventuais restrições a seu acesso. Background: Inflammation is considered to be a vital defense mechanism for health, acting as a protective response of the immune system through a satisfactory inflammatory biomarker response (IBR). IBR, as well as being beneficial to the organism, can be also responsible for a variety of chronic inflammatory diseases. Whole-body vibration (WBV) exercise is a type of physical exercise that can act on inflammation responses due its capacity for stimulating the sensory components that promote systemic responses. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of WBV on IBR in different clinical status. Methods: This is a systematic review that includes randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the effects of WBV exercise on IBR. The methodological quality, risk of bias, and level of evidence were rated. Results: Four RCTs met the selection criteria. The studies showed benefits associated with IBR (e.g., cytokines, adipokines, and C-reactive protein) in various clinical conditions, including healthy populations and some chronic diseases (such as obesity, aging disorders, and knee osteoarthritis), using several WBV protocols. Conclusions: WBV might be useful in the management of inflammatory conditions.

Whole body vibration (WBV) has been recognized as an effective alternative exercise modality to resistance exercise for its ability in enhancing force and power, generating capacity in skeletal muscle, increasing bone mass and improving cardiovascular function. Since the effect of WBV exercises on growth hormone (GH) levels has been never compared and discussed, the aim of this study was to review systematically the literature to verify the WBV effects on GH concentration. By using PubMed, Scopus and PEDRo databases with the keywords 'growth hormone' or GH and 'whole body vibration' or WBV, we found and analysed 12 papers (182 subjects recruited), verifying their level of evidence (National Health and Medical Research Council hierarchy of evidence) and the methodological quality (PEDRo scale). Although WBV induced GH responses in nine out of 12 publications, caution should be however taken when considering the results due to the markedly different methodologies among these publications.

Background: Dengue is considered as an important arboviral disease. Safe, low-cost, and effective drugs that possess inhibitory activity against dengue virus (DENV) are mostly needed to try to combat the dengue infection worldwide. Medicinal plants have been considered as an important alternative to manage several diseases, such as dengue. As authors have demonstrated the antiviral effect of medicinal plants against DENV, the aim of this study was to review systematically the published research concerning the use of medicinal plants in the management of dengue using the PubMed database. Materials and Methods: Search and selection of publications were made using the PubMed database following the guidelines of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA statement). Results: Six publications met the inclusion criteria and were included in the final selection after thorough analysis. Conclusion: It is suggested that medicinal plants’ products could be used as potential anti-DENV agents.

Background Leprosy patients may present several osteoarticular complaints, which require further evaluation of inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Therefore, an adequate clinical assessment in addition to testing for rheumatoid factors (RF) and anticyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies (anti-CCP), can be useful in order to establish the correct diagnosis. Method In this study, the relation of RF and anti-CCP with rheumatological manifestations was evaluated in 97 leprosy patients from Southern Brazil. The results were compared to RA patients and healthy controls from the same geographical area and ethnic background. Results Neuropathy was observed in 71.1% and arthritis in 35.1% of the leprosy patients. A high frequency of RF positivity was observed among the leprosy patients (41.2%, 40/97), with RF immunoglobulin A (IgA) significantly associated with arthritis (OR = 7.9, 95% CI = 1.5–40.6 P = 0.008). Anti-CCP was observed in 9.3% (9/97) of the patients, with anti-CCP2 being the most frequent subtype. Only 4.1% (4/97) of the patients were RF and anti-CCP concomitantly positive. Authors have reported that changes on the concentration of plasma biomarkers could be associated with the WBV effects. The aim of this investigation is to assess the consequences of exposition of 25 Hz mechanical vibration generated in oscillating/vibratory platform (OVP) on the concentration of some plasma biomarkers and on the weight of rats.Materials and Methods: Wistar rats were divided into two groups. The animals of the Experimental Group (EG) were submitted to vibration (25 Hz) generated in an OVP with four bouts of 30 seconds with rest time of 60 seconds between the bouts. This procedure was performed daily for 12 days. Background: Patients with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) have abnormal bone modelling and resorption. The bone tissue adaptation and responsivity to dynamic and mechanical loading may be of therapeutic use under controlled circumstances. Improvements due to the wholebody vibration (WBV) exercises have been reported in strength, motion, gait, balance, posture and bone density in several osteopenic individuals, as in post-menopausal women or children with disabling conditions, as patients with OI. The aim of this investigation was to systematically analyse the current available literature to determine the effect of WBV exercises on functional parameters of OI patients.Materials and methods: Three reviewers independently accessed bibliographical databases. Searches were performed in the PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct and PEDro databases using keywords related to possible interventions (including WBV) used in the management of patients with osteogenesis imperfecta.Results: Three eligible studies were identified by searches in the analysed databases.Conclusion: It was concluded that WBV exercises could be an important option in the management of OI patients improving the mobility and functional parameters. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of a metabolic disease characterized by chronic hyperglycemia and disturbances of carbohydrate, lipid, and protein metabolism, resulting from defects in insulin secretion, or action or both. DM caused at least 12% of global health expenditure is spent on diabetes ($ USD 673 billion). The control of diabetes with fewer side effects is a challenge. Authors have reported that herbal medicine would be an alternative to manage DM. Coriandrum sativum (Coriander) is a plant that has been used in the management of the diabetes. The purpose of this study was to review the published research concerning the use of coriander in the treatment of DM in animal models using a database. The papers were searched in the PubMed. It was verified a strong interest in studies involving diabetes. It is also observed that about 6.92% of the articles with the keyword “Coriandrum sativum” are related to diabetes. Five studies have reached the inclusion criteria to be analyzed. In all these investigations a reduction of the plasma level of glucose was detected in the animals treated with coriander. In conclusion, putting together the findings described in this study and considering the results in the publications, it is possible to conclude and to suggest that the use of coriander could be suitable to try to decrease plasma glucose level of diabetic animals. Perda visual permanente, resultante de inflamacao ocular recidivante, ocorre frequentemente em pacientes com doenca de Behcet, apesar de tratamento imunossupressor cronico e intensivo. Os autores relatam o caso de um paciente masculino, com 35 anos de idade, apresentando uveite posterior, cronica e bilateral, refrataria ao tratamento com corticosteroides e imunossupressores. O tratamento com infliximabe mostrou um efeito benefico na uveite desse paciente.
