Načrtovanje kariere je proces, ki se mora začeti čim bolj zgodaj. Eden najpogostejših modelov načrtovanja kariere omenja naslednje stopnje: določitev kariernih cijev, samooceno (ocenitev lastnih znanj, interesov, vrednot, veščin, prednosti in slabosti ipd.), raziskovanje oziroma zbiranje informacij o področju, ki nas zanima, in pripravo načrta za dosego zastavljenih ciljev. Vsak posameznik sam prevzema odgovornost za svojo kariero, vendar študenti kljub temu večkrat odgovornosti glede svoje kariere prepuščajo drugim, kar posredno zmanjšuje zadovoljstvo in kasnejšo kakovost dela. V diplomski nalogi smo zato predstavili zgodovino kariere, osnovna pojmovanja kariere, karierne teorije, karierne dejavnike, poklicno orientacijo, model Scheinovih kariernih sider in razvoj kariere. V raziskovalnem delu smo raziskovali ali študenti načrtujejo svojo kariero, ali obstajajo razlike pri načrtovanju kariere med spoloma in ali obstajajo razlike v načinu študija pri načrtovanju kariere. Ugotovili smo, da študenti načrtujejo svojo kariero in da so karierno usmerjeni. Študenti so mnenja, da dovolj časa posvetijo načrtovanju lastne kariere in si postavljajo karierne cilje. Večjih razlik med spoloma ni. Razlike so se pokazale v načinu študija, saj večje število izrednih študentov več časa posveti načrtovanju kariere, prav tako jih je več mnenja, da so karierno usmerjeni. Career planning is a process that should begin as early as possible. One of the most common career planning models mentions the following steps: determination of our career goals, self-assessment (assessment of our own knowledge, interests, values, skills, strengths and weaknesses, etc.), researching and gathering information about the area of interest and making a plan for achieving our goals. Every individual is responsible for their own career, but students a lot of times still shift responsibility for their own career to others, which indirectly reduces the level of satisfaction and the quality of work later on. Therefore in this thesis we present the history of career, the basic concept of career, career theories, career factors, career guidance, the model of Schein career anchors and career development. With research we investigated whether students plan their career, whether there are differences in career planning between the sexes and whether there are differences in the mode of study in career planning. We discovered that students plan their career and that they are career oriented. Students belive they pay enought time to plan their career and set their career goals. There are no significant differences between the sexes. Differences have emerged in the mode of study-a larger number of part-time students devote more time to career planning and also belives they are career oriented.
