Abstract

Coordination compounds Pd(L1)Cl$_{2}$, Pd(L2)Cl$_{2}$, and Pd(L3)Cl$_{2}$ have been synthesized from optically pure $\alpha $-amino-oxime ligands L1–L3 based on $(R)$-limonene. Structures of the new palladium complexes are characterized and described by NMR spectroscopy and X-rays. These $\alpha $-amino-oxime ligands were then evaluated in the palladium-catalysed allylation of 1,3-dioxo compounds.

Abstract

The synthesis of 2-pyridinemethanamido borohydride complexes of yttrium and neodymium was achieved through the in situ deprotonation of the protio-ligand 2-pyridinemethanamine C5H3R1N-C(CH3)R2-NH(2,6-iPr2C6H3), denoted as PyAH (with PyAH1: R1 = R2 = H; PyAH2: R1 = CH3, R2 = H; PyAH3: R1 = C(CH3)＝N-(2,6-iPr2C6H3), R2 = CH3), in the presence of trisborohydride RE(BH4)3(THF)3 (RE = Y and Nd) as a precursor and a base. The isolation of various molecular structures, nine of which were structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, was achieved and revealed to depend not only on (i) the nature of the 2-pyridinemethanamido ligand and (ii) the rare-earth element but also on (iii) the reaction conditions, notably the type of base used. These include seven mono-substituted species, eventually also comprising the cation derived from the base reagent, such as [(PyA1)Y(BH4)3]2[Mg(THF)6] (1Y), [(PyA1)Nd(BH4)3Mg(PyA1)](THF)4 (1Nd), (PyA1)Nd(BH4)2(THF)2 (1′Nd), [(PyA1)Nd(THF)(BH4)(μ-BH4)]2 (1′′Nd), [(PyA2)Nd(BH4)3]2[Mg(THF)6] (3Nd), (PyA2)Nd(BH4)2(THF)2 (3′Nd) and (PyA3)Nd(BH4)2 (4Nd), as well as two bis-substituted complexes (PyA1)2Y(BH4) (2Y) and (PyA1)2Nd(BH4) (2Nd). On the other hand, the unexpected amido/ene-amido derivative [(PyA(EA))Y(BH4)2][Li(THF)4] (5Y) (PyA(EA): R1 = C＝CH2-N(2,6-iPr2C6H3), R2 = CH3), where the PyAH3 protio-ligand underwent double deprotonation, was recovered from the reaction carried out with nBuLi in the yttrium series. In some cases, the synthesis led to the isolation of borohydride 2-pyridinemethanamido-supported magnesium complexes (PyA2)Mg(BH4)(THF) and (PyA3)Mg(BH4)(THF). In parallel, the PyAH2 pro-ligand could be structurally analyzed, and an unprecedented adduct of the type [KN(SiMe3)2·PyAH1]2 was isolated and characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. Preliminary investigations of the ring-opening polymerization of L -lactide and ε-caprolactone with some of the complexes synthesized are finally presented, demonstrating moderate to high catalytic activities. Abstract

International audience; We show that latent oxalyl thioester surrogates are a powerful means to modify peptides and proteins in highly dilute conditions in purified aqueous media or in mixtures as complex as cell lysates. Designed to be shelf-stable reagents, they can be activated on demand to enable ligation reactions with peptide concentrations as low as a few hundred nM at rates approaching 30 M-1 s-1.

Abstract

Electronic and transport properties of Bi2S3 with various dopants are studied using density functional theory and experimental characterizations. First, principle calculations of thermoelectric properties are used to evaluate the thermoelectric potential of the orthorhombic Bi2S3 structure. The computational screening of extrinsic defects is used to select the most favorable n-type dopants. Among all the dopants considered, hafnium and chlorine are identified as prospective dopants, whereas, e.g., germanium is found to be unfavorable. This is confirmed by experiment. Seebeck coefficient (S) and electrical conductivity (σ) measurements are performed at room temperature on pellets obtained by spark plasma sintering. An increase of power factors (S2·σ) from around 50 up to 500 μW K-2m-1 is observed for differently doped compounds. In several series of samples, we observed an optimum of power factor above 500 μW K-2m-1 at room temperature for a chlorine equivalence of 0.25 mol. % BiCl3. The obtained results are plotted on a semilogarithmic log (r) versus S graph to demonstrate that a very strong linear trend that limits the power factor around 500 μW K-2m-1 exists. Further improvement of Bi2S3 as thermoelectric material will require finding new doping modes that will break through the observed trend. Abstract

Pentamethylcyclopentadienyl iridium(III) metallacycles catalyse the hydrosilylation of alkynes using triethylsilane and no additive. The reactions proceed rapidly and efficiently at low catalyst loadings and under mild reaction conditions. If catalyses starting from terminal alkynes lead selectively to (Z)-alkenylsilanes in high yields, reactions are less efficient and selective starting from internal alkynes due to steric hindrance and the possible formation of isoquinolinium salts. Mass spectrometry highlights up to two consecutive 1,2-insertions of alkynes could take place into the catalyst iridium-carbon bond.

Abstract

International audience; The P2X receptors are seven-transmembrane domain G protein-coupled receptors and the 7 subtypes of P2X receptors identified in humans, and named P2X1 to P2X7, are channel receptors whose endogenous ligand is ATP. New antagonists of the P2X7 receptor were developed, since this purinergic receptor was highlighted to be involved in many diseases such as different types of pain, cancer, ischemia, neurodegenerative diseases (including Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases) characterized by inflammatory processes. With the aim of evaluate the impact of chirality on the pharmacological activity of a new P2X7R antagonist, a semi-preparative method was developed in supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC). Among four polysaccharide based chiral stationary phases: Chiralcel OD-H and OJ-H and Chiralpak AS-H and AD-H, the last one namely amylose tris (3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate) with a mobile phase consisted of carbon dioxide-ethanol (80:20, v/v), led to the successful separation of the enantiomers in short run time and with good resolution. Limits of detection and quantification were calculated and were found equal for compound 1, to 1.37 μM and 4.57 μM respectively, for peak 1 and were equal to 1.60 μM and 5.30 μM respectively, for peak 2 at λ=210 nm. Before carrying out the pharmacological evaluation of each enantiomer, two complementary methodologies, e.g. liquid chromatography and capillary electrophoresis were performed in parallel to improve the limits of detection and quantification to assess the enantiomeric purity. HPLC using a Chiralpak AD stationary phase led to four times lower limits of detection and quantification with regard to SFC. In the same time, capillary electrophoresis involving dual cyclodextrins system constituted of a SBE-β-CD and a MM-β-CD mixture enhanced the signal-to-noise ratio and led to similar limits of detection and quantification with regard to SFC. No trace of the other enantiomer was found in the isolated one. Biological activities of individual enantiomers were then evaluated and revealed no cytotoxicity against cell lines and a significant difference in terms of their IC50 values with respect to the investigated racemate (6.43 μM): 3.49 μM for the (R)-enantiomer and >10(-4)μM for the (S)-enantiomer, for compound 1, showing that, this antagonist activity is stereospecific.
