This paper studies special classes in the symplectic cohomology of a semipositive and convex-at-infinity symplectic manifold $W$. The classes under consideration lie in the image of every continuation map (for this reason, we call them eternal classes as they are never born and never die). Non-eternal classes in symplectic cohomology can be used to define spectral invariants for contact isotopies of the ideal boundary $Y$ of $W$. It is shown that the spectral invariants of non-eternal classes behave sub-additively with respect to the pair-of-pants product. This is used to define a spectral pseudo-metric on the universal cover of the group of contactomorphisms. We also give criteria for existence and non-existence of eternal classes. First, a compact monotone Lagrangian with odd Euler characteristic and minimal Maslov number at least $2$ implies the existence of non-zero eternal classes (e.g., $T^{*}\mathrm{RP}^{2n}$ has non-zero eternal classes). Second, no non-zero eternal classes exist if every compact set in $W$ is smoothly displaceable (e.g., $T^{*}T^{n}$ has no non-zero eternal classes)., Comment: 69 pages

The infimum of the spectral capacities of neighbourhoods of a nowhere coisotropic submanifold is shown to be zero. In contrast, neighbourhoods of a closed Lagrangian submanifold, and of certain contact-type hypersurfaces, are shown to have uniformly positive spectral capacity. Along the way we prove a quantitative Lagrangian control estimate relating spectral invariants, boundary depth, and the minimal area of holomorphic disks. We show that there exist contact isotopies of the standard contact sphere whose time-1 maps do not have any translated points which are optimally close to the identity in the Shelukhin-Hofer distance. This proves the sharpness of a theorem of Shelukhin on the existence of translated points for contact isotopies of Liouville fillable contact manifolds with small enough Shelukhin-Hofer norm., Comment: 16 pages, 3 figures

The spectral diameter of a symplectic ball is shown to be equal to its capacity; this result upgrades the known bound by a factor of two and yields a simple formula for the spectral diameter of a symplectic ellipsoid. This paper associates a persistence module to a contact vector field $X$ on the ideal boundary of a Liouville manifold. The persistence module measures the dynamics of $X$ on the region $\Omega$ where $X$ is positively transverse to the contact distribution. The colimit of the persistence module depends only on the domain $\Omega$ and is a variant of the selective symplectic homology introduced by the second named author. As an application we prove existence of positive orbits for certain classes of contact vector fields. Building embodied AI systems that can follow arbitrary language instructions in any 3D environment is a key challenge for creating general AI. Accomplishing this goal requires learning to ground language in perception and embodied actions, in order to accomplish complex tasks. The Scalable, Instructable, Multiworld Agent (SIMA) project tackles this by training agents to follow free-form instructions across a diverse range of virtual 3D environments, including curated research environments as well as open-ended, commercial video games. Our goal is to develop an instructable agent that can accomplish anything a human can do in any simulated 3D environment. Our approach focuses on language-driven generality while imposing minimal assumptions. Our agents interact with environments in real-time using a generic, human-like interface: the inputs are image observations and language instructions and the outputs are keyboard-and-mouse actions. This general approach is challenging, but it allows agents to ground language across many visually complex and semantically rich environments while also allowing us to readily run agents in new environments. In this paper we describe our motivation and goal, the initial progress we have made, and promising preliminary results on several diverse research environments and a variety of commercial video games.

Given a compact Lagrangian $L$ in a semipositive convex-at-infinity symplectic manifold $W$, we establish a cup-length estimate for the action values of $L$ associated to a Hamiltonian isotopy whose spectral norm is smaller than some $\hbar(L)$. When $L$ is rational, this implies a cup-length estimate on the number of intersection points. This Chekanov-type result generalizes a theorem of Kislev and Shelukhin proving non-displaceability in the case when $W$ is closed and monotone. The method of proof is to deform the pair-of-pants product on Hamiltonian Floer cohomology using the Lagrangian $L$., Comment: 45 pages

The symplectic cohomology of certain symplectic manifolds $W$ with non-compact ends modelled on the positive symplectization of a compact contact manifold $Y$ is shown to vanish whenever there is a positive loop of contactomorphisms of $Y$ which extends to a loop of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms of $W$. An open string version of this result is also proved: the wrapped Floer cohomology of a Lagrangian $L$ with ideal Legendrian boundary $\Lambda$ is shown to vanish if there is a positive loop $\Lambda_{t}$ based at $\Lambda$ which extends to an exact loop of Lagrangians based at $L$. Various examples of such loops are considered. Applications include the construction of exotic compactly supported symplectomorphisms and exotic fillings of $\Lambda$., Comment: 45 pages

This paper constructs a persistence module of Floer cohomology groups associated to a contactomorphism of the ideal boundary of a Liouville manifold. The barcode (or, bottleneck) distance between the persistence modules is bounded from above by Shelukhin's Hofer distance. Moreover, the barcode is supported (i.e., has spectrum) on the lengths of translated points of the contactomorphism. We use this structure to prove various existence results for translated points and to construct spectral invariants for contactomorphisms which are monotone with respect to positive paths and continuous with respect to Shelukhin's Hofer distance. Let $\mathcal{T}$ denote the class of finitely generated torsion-free nilpotent groups. For a group $G$ let $F(G)$ be the set of isomorphism classes of finite quotients of $G$. Pickel proved that if $G \in \mathcal{T}$, then the set $\mathfrak{g}(G)$ of isomorphism classes of groups $H \in \mathcal{T}$ with $F(G)=F(H)$ is finite. We give an explicit description of the sets $\mathfrak{g}(G)$ for the $\mathcal{T}$-groups $G$ of Hirsch length at most $5$. Based on this, we show that for each Hirsch length $n\geq 4$ and for each $m \in \mathbb{N}$ there is a $\mathcal{T}$-group $G$ of Hirsch length $n$ with $\vert\mathfrak{g}(G)\vert\geq m$., Comment: 14 pages, preprint version of an accepted article to be published in the Journal of Algebra

For each representative $\mathfrak{B}$ of a bordism class in the free loop space of a manifold, we associate a moduli space of finite length Floer cylinders in the cotangent bundle. The left end of the Floer cylinder is required to be a lift of one of the loops in $\mathfrak{B}$, and the right end is required to lie on the zero section. Under certain assumptions on the Hamiltonian functions, the length of the Floer cylinder is a smooth proper function, and evaluating the level sets at the right end produces a family of loops cobordant to $\mathfrak{B}$. The argument produces arbitrarily long Floer cylinders with certain properties. We apply this to prove an existence result for 1-periodic orbits of certain Hamiltonian systems in cotangent bundles, and also to estimate the relative Gromov width of starshaped domains in certain cotangent bundles. The moduli space is similar to moduli spaces considered by Abbondandolo-Schwarz and Abouzaid for Tonelli Hamiltonians. In his 1989 paper, Floer established a connection between holomorphic strips with boundary on a Lagrangian $L$ and a small Hamiltonian push-off $L_{f}$, and gradient flow lines for the function $f$. The present paper studies the compactness theory for holomorphic curves $u_{n}$ whose boundary components lie on Hamiltonian perturbations $L_{n}^{1},\dots,L^{N}_{n}$ of a fixed Lagrangian $L$, where each sequence of nearby Lagrangians $L^{j}_{n}$ converges to $L$ as $n\to\infty$. Generalizing earlier work of Oh, Fukaya, Ekholm, and Zhu, we prove that the limit of a sequence of such holomorphic maps is a configuration consisting of holomorphic curves with boundary on $L$ joined by gradient flow lines connecting points on the boundary of holomorphic pieces. To facilitate both the detection and the interpretation of findings in chest X-rays, comparison with a previous image of the same patient is very valuable to radiologists. Today, the most common approach for deep learning methods to automatically inspect chest X-rays disregards the patient history and classifies only single images as normal or abnormal. Nevertheless, several methods for assisting in the task of comparison through image registration have been proposed in the past. However, as we illustrate, they tend to miss specific types of pathological changes like cardiomegaly and effusion. Due to assumptions on fixed anatomical structures or their measurements of registration quality, they produce unnaturally deformed warp fields impacting visualization of differences between moving and fixed images. We aim to overcome these limitations, through a new paradigm based on individual rib pair segmentation for anatomy penalized registration. Our method proves to be a natural way to limit the folding percentage of the warp field to 1/6 of the state of the art while increasing the overlap of ribs by more than 25%, implying difference images showing pathological changes overlooked by other methods. We develop an anatomically penalized convolutional multi-stage solution on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) data set, starting from less than 25 fully and 50 partly labeled training images, employing sequential instance memory segmentation with hole dropout, weak labeling, coarse-to-fine refinement and Gaussian mixture model histogram matching. We statistically evaluate the benefits of our method and highlight the limits of currently used metrics for registration of chest X-rays.

We construct non-compact contact manifolds containing compact Legendrians which can be displaced from their Reeb flow with arbitrarily small oscillation energy. We use this to show the Shelukhin-Chekanov-Hofer pseudo-metric considered by Rosen and Zhang is degenerate on the isotopy class of the constructed Legendrians. We prove a contact non-squeezing result for a class of embeddings between starshaped domains in the contactization of the symplectization of the unit cotangent bundle of certain manifolds. The class of embeddings includes embeddings which are not isotopic to the identity. This yields a new proof that there is no positive loop of contactomorphisms in the unit cotangent bundles under consideration.
