The flat wasps genus,PristepyrisKieffer is reported for the first time from Türkiye based on the identification ofPristepyris masii(Soika, 1933). Now, with this new record, the species number of Bethylidae from Türkiye has increased to ten. Additionally, new data are presented forEpyris nigerWestwood, 1832, Sclerodermus ephippius(Saunders, 1881) andPristocera depressa(Fabricius, 1804), which were previously recorded from Turkey. All taxa are morphologically illustrated and theirgeographical distribution in Türkiye and in the World is also provided.

The superfamily Evanioidea (Hymenoptera, Apocrita) of Türkiye is reviewed based on the data taken from literature as well as newly collected material. In the current study, two species from Aulacidae, 10 species from Gasteruptiidae and two species from Evaniidae are identified, being new records for the mentioned provinces. Morever,Brachygaster minutus(Olivier, 1791) is recorded for the first time from Türkiye.Gasteruption insidiosumSemenov, 1892,G. mercetiKieffer, 1904,G. tournieriSchletterer, 1885,Pristaulacus gloriator(Fabricius, 1804), andProsevania fuscipes(Illiger, 1807) are also new records for the Black Sea region. An updated checklist of the Evanioidea from Türkiye is provided for the first time. The family Aulacidae is represented by five species belonging to the genusPristaulacusKieffer, 1900, Evaniidae by five species belonging to three genera,BrachygasterLeach, 1815 (one species),EvaniaFabricius, 1775 (three species),ProsevaniaKieffer, 1911 (one species), and Gasteruptiidae by 36 species belonging to the genusGasteruptionLatreille, 1797.

Gracilepyris rufipes (Say, 1824) Diagnosis: Body length 6.0 mm (Fig. 2a). Body mostly black; mandible, antenna, tegula and legs testaceous (Fig. 2a, 2b). Head, mesosoma and metasoma covered with sparse whitish gray setae. Body shiny, head and thorax sparsely punctured and slightly alutaceous (Fig. 2c, 2d). Clypeus more narrowly rounded, extending well beyond antennal tubercles. Notauli and parapsidal signum distinct. Notauli slightly divergent towards pronotum and parapsidal furrows almost parallel. Mesoscuto-scutellar foveae oval and separated from each other more than their half own. Metapectal-propodeal complex with metapostnotum often somewhat depressed and separated from sides by one line of elevation, but never by metapostnotal-propodeal suture. Sculpturing of metapostnotum more irregular, reticulations somewhat with longitudinal stripes. Lateral marginal and transverse posterior carinae of the metapectal-propodeal complex present. Metapostnotal median carina complete and quite prominent reaches posterior carina. Posterolateral corner of metapectal-propodeal complex concave. Lateral surface of metapectalpropodeal complex coarsely alutaceous. Propodeal declivity with median carina. Metasomal terga shiny with inconspicuous punctures. Sclerodermus ephippius Saunders, 1881 Diagnosis. Female: Body length 3.5 mm (Fig. 4a). Head, mesoscutellum, femora, tibiae and metasoma dark castaneous; antenna, clypeus, mandible, palpi, dorsal pronotal area, metapectal-propodeal disc, coxae, trochanters, and tarsi light castaneous. Head nearly quadrate, scarcely longer than wide, sides of head mostly straight; vertex slightly outcurved (Fig. 4b). Clypeus with median lobe trapezoidal. Mandible with three teeth, two dorsal teeth large and sharp. Frons weakly coriaceous, nearly polished, punctures very sparse and inconspicuous. Ocelli absent. Eye small and glabrous; distance between toruli less than their own diameters. Mesopleuron without pits and foveae. Dorsal pronotal area long, metapectal-propodeal disc and mesoscutellum almost equally sized. Mesoscutellum equilateral triangle-shaped with broadly curved posterior side. Metapectal-propodeal disc trapezoidal, side diverging posteriorly, median, lateral and posterior transverse carinae absent (Fig. 4c). Propodeal spiracle circular. Metasoma stout, 0.53 × as long as body, posterior margin of sternites IV–VI conspicuously bi-emarginated. Heterocoelia microptera (Kieffer, 1906) Distribution: Turkey (Isparta) (Kieffer 1906) Remark: This species was first described by Kieffer (1906) as Mesitius micropterus from the Asia Mineure, Hamid region. It refers to the province of Isparta in today’s Turkey. Laelius pedatus (Say, 1836) Diagnosis. Female: Body length 3.2 mm (Fig. 3a). Body mostly black; first four antennomeres and legs except coxae entirely testaceous. Clypeus with median lobe trapezoidal with apical margin straight (Fig. 3b). Scape curved, pedicel longer than flagellomere I; flagellomere I as long as or slightly shorter than flagellomere II. Dorsal pronotal area laterally slightly concave, coriaceous, punctures fine and sparse; dorsal setae long and thick. Notauli and parapsidal signum inconspicuous. Mesoscutellum glabrous. Mesopleuron without fovea. Metapectal-propodeal discwith five carinae (Fig. 3d); metapostnotal median carina and first metapostnotal lateral carinae complete and reaching transverse posterior carina; second metapostnotal lateral carina incomplete not reaching transverse posterior carina. Lateral marginal carina of metapectal-propodeal complex and metapostnotal carina present. Propodeal declivity with median carina. Forewing with Radial 1 vein slightly curved and shorter than radial sector & median vein; apically dilated (Fig. 3c); subcostal vein with eight dorsal setae; median + cubital vein with five dorsal setae; radial sector + median vein with two dorsal setae; anal vein with four dorsal setae; stigma with one dorsal setae. Hind wing with three hamuli. Metasomal terga I and II smooth; terga II–VI with long black setae laterally. Male: Body length 2.9 mm (Fig. 3e). Body coloration mostly black as in females, excluding mandible, antennae and legs which are dark brown. Body shiny; head, thorax and abdomen coriaceous, punctuation indistinct. Apical margin of clypeus rounded, with a sharp median tooth (Fig. 3f). Dorsal part of propodeum with five weak carinae; metapostnotal median carina and first metapostnotal lateral carinae incomplete and not reach to metapostnotal carina. Lateral marginal carina of the metapectal-propodeal complex distinct, the metapostnotal carina slightly prominent. The posterior declivity without a median carina. Radial 1 vein slightly curved, apically dilated. Forewing with subcostal vein with 11 dorsal setae; median + cubital vein with eight dorsal setae; radial sector + median vein with three dorsal setae; anal vein with five dorsal setae; stigma with small four dorsal setae. Epyris niger Westwood, 1832 Diagnosis: Body length 4.1 mm (Fig. 1a). Head and mesosoma black (Fig. 1b); mandible apically yellow except for basal half brown; antenna brown; forewing hyaline, veins yellowish; legs brown, apically light brown; metasoma entirely black. Mandible with four apical teeth. Eye with erect setae. Head and thorax dull and densely coriaceous, puncture small and sparse. Anterior corners of the dorsal pronotal area in round angle. Foveae of mesoscutoscutellar suture separated with median carina and distant from each other less than their half own (Fig. 1c). Terga I and II smooth without punctures; remained terga smooth with inconspicuous punctures and distal sparse long hairs. This study is based upon material from subfamilies Ammophilinae, Sceliphrinae, and Sphecinae of the family Sphecidae collected from different localities of Türkiye between 2000 and 2021. A total of 27 species belonging to nine genera of three subfamilies have been presented. New provincial and regional records for some species have been given.

Lestica anatolica Can et Gülmez, sp. nov. urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act: 1943C562-6B73-4F38-82B0-125761988EE7 (Figs. 1–4) Diagnosis: Lestica anatolica is a member of the subgenus Solenius. It is very similar to L. clypeata (narrowed head, shild-like foretarsomere I, spine at the base of the forefemur, hindtrochanter with ventral spine, bidentate mandibule), but differs from it by the following characters: conspicuous spine present on apex of foretrochanter (carinate in L. clypeata) (Figs. 1c, 1f); foretarsomeres II and III as broad as I (foretarsomeres II and III markedly narrower than I in L. clypeata) (Figs. 1a, 1d); posterior part of midfemur not keeled, widened towards base, not tooth-like, but rounded (posterior part of midfemur carinate, tooth-like in L. clypeata) (Figs. 1b, 1e). Another similar species is L. wollmanni, from which L. anatolica differs as follows: foretarsomere widened, shield-like; its width greater than length (first foretarsomeres less widened; its width clearly less than length in L. wollmanni); posterior trochanter with spine (without spine in L. wollmanni) and flagellomere I 1.5 × as long as wide (2.0–2.2 × in L. wollmanni). Description: Length 7.5 mm, fore wing 5 mm. Dominant body colour black, with following parts light: scape dorsally, pedicel wholly dark yellow; flagellomeres completely brownish-yellow (darkening gradually from first to last); mandible with dark reddish apex; thorax completely black, tegula translucent pale brown; anterior surface of fore- and hindfemora longitudinally, and midfemur entirely yellow except base of midfemur lower surface; all tibiae yellow except for irregular brownish spots on mid- and hindtibiae. Shield-like foretarsomere completely yellow, apex and lateral edges of foretarsomeres II–IV and entire V light brown. Mid- and hindtarsomeres I yellow basally, turning brown towards ends. Maculae of terga I–VI ivory white, dot-like on each side of tergum I, broadly interrupted on II and III, slightly interrupted mesally on IV, and continuous band on V and VI. All sterna black except yellowish-white spot in middle of sternum II. Setae on dorsal part of clypeus and half of inner margin of the compound eyes dense, silvery, and appressed, completely covering integument; on frons, vertex, anterior and lateral sides of pronotum, pronotal lobe, upper part of mesopleuron sparse, long, silvery; on epicnemial carina, acetabular carina, lower edge of mesopleuron, posterior surfaces of forefemur and foretibia dense, erect, and silvery; on scutum, propodeum, mesopleuron and terga short, scarce and silvery. Head in dorsal view conspicuously narrowed behind eye (Fig. 2a). OOD (ocellocular distance): POD (postocellar distance): OCD (ocelloccipital distance)= 4:3.2:8. Ocellar triangle with width to length approximately 8:5.5 (Fig. 2a). Orbital fovea prominent, linear, and short (Fig. 2b). Clypeus not protruding, slightly carinate medially (Fig. 2c). Mandibule bidentate at apex, without tooth on inner margin (Fig. 2d). Flagellomere I 1.6 × as long as wide, apical flagellomere slightly curved (Fig. 2e). Collare elongate and narrowed in front; rounded laterally. Foretarsomeres I-III dilated as almost quadrangular shield (Fig. 1a). Forefemur (Fig. 2f) and foretrochanter with transparent spine (Fig. 1c), partly concealed by long setae on femur. Mid tibia slightly curved, slender and long. Mesopleuron coarsely and sparsely punctate; punctures less than one diameter apart, with shiny interspaces (Fig. 2i). Mesosternum with rough appearance, punctuation fine and irregular. Metapleuron shiny and longitudinally ridged. Dorsal surface of propodeum markedly reticulate, lateral surface longitudinally ridged. Terga shiny, punctation of terga becoming gradually smaller and closer starting from first tergum, large on first three terga. Punctation of sterna small, distributed regularly throughout surface. Bu makale, Türkiye'nin önemli doğal alanlarından biri olan Yukarı Kelkit Vadisi'nin Sphecidae (Insecta: Hymenoptera) faunası üzerine bir çalışmayı bildirmektedir. 2015-2018 yılları arasında Erzincan, Giresun, Gümüşhane ve Sivas illerinde çeşitli habitatlardan toplam 316 ergin sphecid örneği atrap ile toplanmıştır. Örnekler Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa Üniversitesi Entomoloji Araştırma Laboratuvarı’nda saklanmaktadır. 32 takson teşhis edilmiştir. Bunlardan 12 tür ve alttür araştırma bölgesinin faunası için yeni kayıt olup Ammophila gussakovskii (Dollfuss, 2013) ve Podalonia nigrohirta (Kohl, 1888) Türkiye’den ilk kez kaydedilmiştir. Şu anda, Türkiye’den Ammophilinae altfamilyasından beş cinse ait 34 tür, Sceliphrinae altfamilyasından 2 cinse ait 13 tür ve bir alttür ve Sphecinae altfamilyasından 5 cinse ait 29 tür ve iki alttür, toplamda ise 12 cinse ait 76 tür ve üç alttür bilinmektedir. Türkiye Sphecidae familyasına ait dağılışsal bir kontrol listesi dahil edilmiştir., This paper reports a study of Sphecidae (Insecta: Hymenoptera) fauna of the Upper Kelkit Valley, one of the important natural areas of Turkey. In total, 316 adult sphecid specimens were collected by insect net from various habitats in Erzincan, Giresun, Gümüşhane and Sivas Provinces between 2015-2018. The specimens were stored in Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Entomology Research Laboratory, Tokat, Turkey. Thirty-two taxa were identified. Of these, 12 species and subspecies are new records for the fauna of the study area, and Ammophila gussakovskii (Dollfuss, 2013) and Podalonia nigrohirta (Kohl, 1888) are recorded for the first time from Turkey. Currently, 34 species of five genera of Ammophilinae, 13 species and one subspecies of two genera of Sceliphrinae and 29 species and two subspecies of five genera of Sphecinae of Sphecidae, giving 76 species and three subspecies belonging to 12 genera, are known from Turkey. A distributional checklist of the Turkish Sphecidae is included.

Fatty acid composition of larvae, pupae, and adults of the mud-dauber wasp, Sceliphron destillatorium Illiger 1807, as well as spiders obtained from its nests was investigated for the first time. All samples were obta- ined from mud nests of the wasp collected from the field. Adults of this insect feed on nectar of flowers but their larvae feed on spiders. Totally 15 fatty acids were identified and quantified by GC-FID in analyzed samples. The highest of all fatty acids is oleic acid which was found as: 43.87%, 42.43%, 48.69%, and 43.88% in larvae, pupae, adult, and the spiders respectively. Fatty acid compositions in larvae, pupae, and spiders were found close to each other. Alpha linolenic acid was determined in larva, pupa, and spider but not in adults, so it seems to be essential fatty acid for this wasp species. The data obtained are usable to reveal the relationship between fatty acid composition and nutrition or physiological events in insects., Çamur yuva yapan yaban arısı Sceliphron destillatorium türünün larva, pupa ve erginleri ile yuvalarından alınan örümceklerin yağ asit kompozisyonu ilk kez incelenmiştir. Numuneler araziden toplanan yabanarısı yuvalarından elde edilmiştir. Bu böceğin erginleri çiçekli bitkilerin nektarı ile larvaları ise örümceklerle beslenmiştir. İncelenen örneklerde toplam 15 yağ asidi tanımlanmış ve miktarları GC-FID ile ölçülmüştür. Bu yağ asitleri arasında en yüksek miktarda olan oleik asit larva, pupa, ergin ve örümcekte sırasıyla şu şekilde bulunmuştur: %43.87, %42.43, %48.69 ve %43.88. Larva, pupa ve örümceklerde yağ asidi kompozisyonu birbirine oldukça yakın bulunmuştur. We retrospectively evaluated the tolerability and efficacy of fractionated total body irradiation (TBI) (1,200 cGy) and melphalan (MEL) (100–110 mg/m2) myeloablative conditioning in 48 patients with nonremission AML (n = 14), ALL (n = 10), NHL (n = 18), and other refractory hematologic malignancies (n = 6) who received allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT) between 2002 and 2011. Median age was 48 years (22 to 68); 14 out of 26 leukemia patients (54 %) had circulating blasts at transplant, 20 (50 %) evaluable patients had poor-risk cytogenetics, 12 (25 %) had prior SCT, and 10 (21 %) received stem cells from a mismatch donor. All patients received tacrolimus with or without methotrexate for GVHD prophylaxis. At the time of analysis, 13 patients (27 %) were alive and disease free. Engraftment was complete in all patients. The median time to ANC recovery (>500) was 12 days (range, 6–28). The most common grade III and IV toxicities were mucositis and infections. Eighteen patients (43 %) developed grade II–IV acute GVHD, and eight (26 %) had extensive chronic GVHD. Of 44 evaluable patients for response, 28 (64 %) achieved a complete remission (CR), and seven (15 %) had a partial remission after the transplant. With a median follow-up of 30 months (4 to 124 months) for surviving patients, the cumulative incidence of relapse was 45 % at 1 year, and the probability of overall survival (OS) at 5 years was 22.5 %. Multivariate analysis showed that platelet count (500 IU/L) at SCT were associated with relapse. Age less than 53 years and CR after SCT were associated with better OS. Our data suggest that TBI-MEL can result in CR in two thirds, durable remission in one third, and 5-year survival in about one quarter of patients with nonremission hematologic malignancies. Further studies with TBI-MEL in standard risk transplant patients are warranted.

In addition to traditional methods, investigation of rDNA gene regions with molecular techniques is widely used to identify insect taxa. In this study, the usability of the primers (TrITS2, 28S-D2) belonging to second expansion segment (D2) of the 28S subunit (28S-D2) and second internal transcribed spacer (ITS2) rDNA gene regions were tested to identify and differentiate six species of Sphecidae family namely Ammophila sabulosa, Ammophila heydeni, Prionyx kirbyi, Prionyx nudatus, Sphex flavipennis, Sphex funerarius for the first time. DNA isolated from samples were amplified by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and digested by restriction enzymes. PCR products and restriction enzyme analysis of ITS2 obtained from Prionyx species displayed species-specific DNA bands indicating that these species could be identified by using TrITS2 primers and restriction enzymes. However, neither DNA bands nor the sequence analysis of 28S-D2rDNA primers provided species-specific data. Consequently, ITS2 marker was suitable for only one of the genera (Prionyx), whereas 28S-D2 marker was suitable for none of the taxa examined

Ribozomal DNA gen bölgeleri, bazı böcek taksonların ayırımında morfolojik karakterlere ek olarak yaygın şekilde kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, 28S-D2 ve ITS2 gen bölgelerine ait primerlerin (TcITS2, TrITS2, TICKITS2, 28S-D2 rDNA), Sphecidae (Hymenoptera) familyasına ait Ammophila sabulosa, Ammophila heydeni, Prionyx kirbyi, Prionyx nudatus, Sphex flavipennis, Sphex funerarius, Sphex melanocnemis, Sphex pruinosus, Sceliphron spirifex türlerinin ayırt edilmesi ve teşhisinde kullanılabilirliği ilk kez test edilmiştir. Seçilen türlere ait örneklerden DNA izolasyonu yapılarak Polimer Zincir Reaksiyonu (PZR) yöntemiyle çoğaltılmış ve agaroz jel elektroforeziyle görüntülenmiştir. Prionyx kirbyi - Prionyx nudatus, Ammophila sabulosa - Ammophila heydeni ve Sphex melanocnemis - Sphex pruinosus, Sceliphron spirifex türlerinin DNA örneklerinden TcITS2 ve TrITS2 primerleri kullanılarak elde edilen PCR ürünleri, ayırt edici bantlar göstermiştir, bu yüzden TcITS2 ve TrITS2 primerlerinin türlerin birbirinden ayrılmasında ve teşhisinde kullanılabileceği görülmektedir. Study objective To examine the efficacy of recombinant factor VIIa (rVIIa) in reversing warfarin-induced coagulopathy in trauma patients presenting with intracranial hemorrhage (ICH). Design Retrospective, cohort-controlled database review. Setting Level 1, university-affiliated trauma center. Patients 54 patients presenting with ICH associated with chronic warfarin therapy, 30 of whom were treated with rVIIa, and the other 24 patients treated conventionally. Measurements We examined initial and subsequent coagulation studies (prothrombin time, international normalized ratio [INR]), blood product requirement, and clinical outcome, including time to reverse anticoagulation, duration of reversal, and subsequent mortality. Main results Patients treated with rVIIa required significantly less plasma (4 vs 7 units) to correct their INR, and corrected in a much shorter period of time (2.4 vs10 hrs). The duration of corrected INR after rVIIa was dose-dependent. Conclusions Factor rVIIa provides prompt correction of the INR of dose-dependent duration in patients with ICH intracranial hemorrhage associated with warfarin use.

Bortezomib has demonstrated activity in heavily pretreated MM patients. The dose limiting toxicity is peripheral neuropathy (PN) that affects up to 35% of the patients (Richardson et al JCO 2006). We retrospectively reviewed the incidence and severity of PN in 78 patients who received bortezomib at our institution. The median age was 57 years (range: 33–80), 62% were men, and 37% were African Americans (AA). Risk factors for PN included prior use of thalidomide in 53 patients (68%) and vincristine in 31 patients (40%). Seventeen patients (22%) had diabetes mellitus. Before bortezomib treatment 29 patients (37%) reported subjective grade 1–2 PN. Patients received bortezomib alone (n=10) or in combination with dexamethasone (n=36) and thalidomide (n=20) or chemotherapy (n=12). Responses included complete, near complete and partial responses in 5%, 10% and 27%, respectively. Grade 2 and higher PN occurred in 52% of the patients including Grade grades 3 and 4 PN in 15% and 7%, respectively. Twelve patients stopped bortezomib due to side effects that included PN (n=8), diarrhea (n=2) and CMV pneumonia (n=1), and 11 patients had dose reductions because of PN and fatigue. Grade 4 PN affected 6 patients (sensory n=4, and motor/sensory, n=2), 5 of whom were AA and 4 of whom had DM. The onset of grade 4 PN was acute rather than cumulative as noted with lower grades and took a median of 8 months (range: 4–16+) to improve compared to 3–4 months for lower grade PN. Neuropathy grade was not associated with age, sex, race or renal function (10 patients had creatinine > 2 mg/dl, including 2 on dialysis). Factors predictive of PN were baseline neuropathy (p=0.002) in addition to prior thalidomide use (p=0.03) and presence of DM (p=0.03). Responses were independent of neuropathy grade and whether bortezomib was combined with chemotherapy or thalidomide. The duration of therapy in responding patients was longer in patients receiving bortezomib in combination with thalidomide with a median of 5 cycles (range: 2–36) versus those who received other bortezomib combinations 3 cycles (range 1–19). Two of four patients with grade 4 sensory PN had their best response ever after 3 cycles of bortezomib; both had failed transplant and thalidomide based therapies; one remains in continuous complete remission for 24 months. PN therapy was mostly supportive including combinations of analgesics duloxetine, gabapentin, and pregabalin. Interestingly, 6 of 9 patients with PN who received lenalidomide as salvage therapy after progression on bortezomib had significant improvement in their symptoms; 3 of them stopped analgesics. In conclusion, the highest risk and grade of bortezomib neurotoxicity was seen in patients with baseline PN secondary to prior thalidomide use and DM. On the other hand, responding patients who received bortezomib in combination with thalidomide remained longer on therapy with minimal dose reductions. Although this may represent a section bias it is possible that thalidomide’s known anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenesis properties protect against bortezomib-induced PN. Similar effects may explain the unexpected symptomatic improvement of PN on lenalidomide.
