Venlafaxine has critical side effects from arrhythmias to cardiogenic shock after toxic dose ingestion. We report a case of venlafaxine intoxication with Multiple Organ Failure (MOF) treated with Veno-Arterial Extracorporeal Life Support (VA-ECLS). A 60-year old male with a history of chronic depression ingested 72 tablets of prolonged-release venlafaxine hydrochloride 75 mg (total 5400 mg). Initial EKG showed broadened QRS complexes and Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE) revealed diffuse ventricular hypokinesia with Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction (LVEF) of 15% for which dobutamine infusion was started. Due to persistent refractory cardiogenic shock and MOF, a Medos® Deltastream® VA-ECLS was surgically implanted in our intensive care unit. On day 1, toxicology analysis found plasma concentrations of venlafaxine 3.2mg/L and its metabolite desmethylvenlafaxine at 0.92 mg/L. At day 6, we performed a weaning trial, enabling ECLS removal. Motion defect of anteroseptal and inferolateral walls was also noticed. EKGs showed a shorten R wave in the anteroseptal territory leading to the potential diagnosis of underlying ischemic cardiomyopathy. The patient was extubated at day-10 and discharged for cardiology unit at day-17. At day-20, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging showed no sign of ischemia and TTE parameters were normalized. This is the first report of refractory cardiogenic shock and MOF due to venlafaxine intoxication treated with VA-ECLS. The main objective of ECLS is to restore cardiac output especially when ventricular failure is refractory to inotropes. Our experience suggests that MOF secondary to refractory cardiogenic shock should quickly prompt the implantation of a VA-ECLS in venlafaxine critical overdose.

37th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 1542-1547, On the road to more photovoltaic (PV) energy production, high-throughput and non-disruptive maintenance routines are needed to ensure a reliable long-term performance of PV plants. Additionally, a method that allows a quantitative assessment of silicon PV module performance solely by measuring cell temperatures via infrared thermography (IR) is more easily applicable in a high-throughput fashion using e.g. unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) than measuring each module individually. We introduced a mathematical framework to determine power losses of modules from IR images. The method makes use of the fact that, in a steady state closed system, energy that is not converted into electrical power has to be dissipated as heat. In this contribution, we reduce this method to practice by analysing the electrical performance of four PV modules with temperature anomalies at two different sites, which are equipped with a power monitoring system by the company Sunsniffer for validation. We present an analytical expression for the power-temperature-relationship, and discuss influences of convection and how to correct for them. We find that power predictions often deviate less than 3% from the monitoring data and confirm our theoretical considerations, allowing power loss to be quantified. Cases with larger deviations show that some influences are yet to be better understood and more data is needed.

37th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 596-600, In this paper, the complete formation of various perovskite thin films during spin-coating and subsequent annealing is monitored in-situ by high-speed optical reflectance spectroscopy. Furthermore, first results for anti-solvent drip processes and the deposition of perovskite semiconductors on top of CIGS-based samples for tandem applications are presented. It is shown, that a complete “fingerprint” of the film formation process can be obtained and crucial properties like the absorption edge and its evolution during film formation can be deduced. The method also allows for real-time measurements of the amount of the remaining precursor wet-film. All this information is well-suited for tailoring film properties and identifying new paths for the optimization of performance or yield. Hence, this technology can enable and accelerate process development for perovskite thin films. This paper focuses on the experimental implementation of the in-situ measurements and presents first results on absorption edge evolution monitoring, spincoating kinetics and annealing phase transformations.
