Background: COVID-19 pandemic stressors affected youth's mental health. This longitudinal study aims to explore these effects while considering predictive factors such as age and sex., Methods: An initial sample of 1502 caregivers answered a longitudinal survey evaluating their youths' (4-17 years of age) emotional/behavioral symptoms using the Pediatric Symptom Checklist (PSC) screening tool. First assessment in May-July 2020 included the prior year's retrospective (T R ) and since-lockdown-start (T 0 ) PSC, followed by monthly evaluations until February 2021., Results: A positive screening PSC (PSC+) was reported in 13.09% of cases at T R and 35.01% at T 0, but the likelihood of PSC+ quickly decreased over time. At T 0 , a more pronounced impact was found on children (39.7%) compared to adolescents (25.4%); male children exhibited higher risk for a PSC+ at T 0 and longitudinally than females. Adolescents presented a weaker effect of time-improvement. PSC+ at T R , experienced stressors, and caregiver's stress/depressive symptoms positively predicted PSC+ at T 0 and longitudinally; adolescents' unproductive coping style predicted PSC+ at T 0. CONCLUSION: The study shows a caregiver-reported increase in emotional/behavioral symptoms in youths during the COVID-19 pandemic, affecting predominantly younger children in the early stages and showing gradual improvement over time, albeit possibly slower in adolescents., Impact: The results show the anticipated surge in emotional and behavioral symptoms during the COVID-19 lockdown in youth reported by caregivers, followed by subsequent amelioration. Of greater significance, the study reveals a heightened impact on young children initially, yet it suggests a slower improvement trajectory in adolescents. The study also identifies risk factors linked to emotional and behavioral symptoms within each age group. People with a mental disorder have a higher risk of suicidal behavior. Little research has examined the role of childhood trauma in suicide behavior, and even fewer studies have assessed the specific relevance of subtypes of childhood trauma and suicidal behavior in first-episode psychosis (FEP). The aims of the present study were: 1) to compare suicide behavior between FEP and HC; 2) to study the relationship between the five types of ChT and suicide risk in FEP controlling for confounding sociodemographic, clinical, and psychosocial variables. 95 patients diagnosed with FEP and 92 healthy control (HC) were recruited as a part of the PROFEP study. ChT was evaluated using The Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form (CTQ) and suicide behavior through The Suicide Risk Scale of Plutchik (SRSP). Our results showed that patients with FEP presented more suicide behavior (ideation, attempt, and suicide risk) than HC. Emotional abuse was the most relevant type of ChT in suicide ideation and suicide risk. After controlling for other relevant variables, perceived stress seemed to play an important role in suicide ideations, suicide attempt, and suicide risk. The results highlight the importance of assessing and considering in the clinical practice ChT and the perceived stress., (Copyright © 2022. The Theory of Mind Inventory is an informant measure designed to evaluate children's theory of mind competence. We describe the translation and cultural adaptation of the inventory by the following process: (1) translation from English to Spanish by two independent certified translators; (2) production of an agreed version by a multidisciplinary committee of experts; (3) back-translation to English of the agreed version by an independent translator; (4) discussion of the semantic, idiomatic, and cultural equivalence of the final version; (5) elaboration of the final test; (6) pilot test on 24 representatives of the autism spectrum disorders population and 24 representatives of typically developing children. The steps were conducted satisfactorily, producing the final version in Spanish, which showed good psychometric properties.
