The cap is likely a cotton blend. It is in 6-color desert camouflage and has a visor, a circular top crown, a side crown with an outside crown band. Includes a subdued grade (black) metal cap device with insignia of grade for a colonel pinned to the front of the cap.

Cap is a digital camouflage pattern using green, tan, and black pixel-like patterns. The eagle, globe, and anchor insignia of the USMC is embroidered on the front of cap.

"Here is a chance for you to see some of the devices and means that he Allies employed to make their positions lasting and to keep them from being detected by the enemy. Helmet is likely made of steel, and is an example of a doughboy helmet, also called a Brodie helmet or M1917 Helmet. These were worn by the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I, in addition to troops from other countries. This helmet has been painted red, green black, brown, and yellow in a mottled pattern in order to provide the wearer with camouflage. Only a small scrap of fabric remains of the lining that was once inside the helmet, and there are metal loops on either side for a chin strap.

Hat appears to be made of canvas or other rough fabric. It has a full brim with buttons on the sides that allow the sides of the brim to be folded up and buttoned to the body of the hat. Camouflage is woodland pattern. Hat device is a silver eagle based on the Great Seal of the United States. It also looks similar to the rank insignia for a colonel in the U.S. Air Force with the exception that the eagle is facing go the left.
