- Abstract
Multimodal learning analytics, which is collection, analysis, and report of diverse learning traces to better understand and improve the learning process, has been producing a series of interesting prototypes to analyze learning activities that were previously hard to objectively evaluate. However, none of these prototypes have been taken out of the laboratory and integrated into real learning settings. This article is the first to propose, execute, and evaluate a process to scale and deploy one of these applications, an automated oral presentation feedback system, into an institution-wide setting. Technological, logistical, and pedagogical challenges and adaptations are discussed. An evaluation of the use and effectiveness of the deployment shows both successful adoption and moderate learning gains, especially for low-performing students. In addition, the recording and summarizing of the perception of both instructors and students point to a generally positive experience in spite of the common problems of a first-generation deployment of a complex learning technology.

Intratumoral heterogeneity in cancers arises from genomic instability and epigenomic plasticity and is associated with resistance to cytotoxic and targeted therapies. We show here that cell-state heterogeneity, defined by differentiation-state marker expression, is high in triple-negative and basal-like breast cancer subtypes, and that drug tolerant persister (DTP) cell populations with altered marker expression emerge during treatment with a wide range of pathway-targeted therapeutic compounds. We show that MEK and PI3K/mTOR inhibitor-driven DTP states arise through distinct cell-state transitions rather than by Darwinian selection of preexisting subpopulations, and that these transitions involve dynamic remodeling of open chromatin architecture. Increased activity of many chromatin modifier enzymes, including BRD4, is observed in DTP cells. Co-treatment with the PI3K/mTOR inhibitor BEZ235 and the BET inhibitor JQ1 prevents changes to the open chromatin architecture, inhibits the acquisition of a DTP state, and results in robust cell death in vitro and xenograft regression in vivo.

- Abstract
Purpose: To examine how core values can be concretely transformed in the physical stores in order to help with the creation of favorable brand associations and the shaping of the brand image. Methodology: The paper combines both primary and secondary data, with a specific focus on two brands as case studies: Lush and Kiehl's. Primary data was collected through a questionnaire that includes both quantitative and qualitative questions, to understand the relevance of the delivery of core values through the physical store and the results this has in terms of brand associations and image. Secondary data comes in the form of a literature review to give a proper theoretical foundation to the research, coupled with the analysis of the selected brands through online articles and their respective websites. Findings: The research shows that today physical stores are still highly relevant. Most importantly, it delineates how a good and clear store branding strategy can help to acquire a desirable positioning, while an improper plan can instead damage it by failing with the first step of the value transformation process. Originality/value: The paper is the first of its kind to focus on the transformation of the core values into physical realities through the interior design and physical elements of the store, combined with the effects that this has on people. Moreover, a theoretical contribution is given by proposing a framework that can be adapted to analyze the efficiency of the brands' actions in the physical world.

- Abstract

Introduction: The majority of smokers begin consumption in adolescence and the earlier initiation of cigarette smoking is associated with a greater likelihood of cigarette dependence. Graphic health warnings (GHW) are one of the most used strategies to communicate the consequences of cigarette smoking, but little is known about their ability to increase inhibitory control and thus prevent consumption. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects of different sizes of GHWs on inhibitory control in adolescents. We hypothesized that GHWs promote inhibitory control, and increasing GHW size, enhance inhibitory control. Methods: Fifty-nine participants completed a Go/No-Go task during electroencephalographic recording. The No-Go stimuli were pictures of cigarette packs without GHWs, and cigarette packs with GHWs that covered 30% or 60% of the front (main side) of the pack. The event-related potential N200 component and behavioral measures in the Go/No-Go task were analyzed. Results: Separate mixed-model analysis of variance (ANOVAs) were used for N200 component (amplitude and latency) and behavioral data. The GHWs increased the amplitude of the N200 potential, especially GHWs that covered 60% of the front of the pack. The behavioral data showed that GHWs that covered 60% of the front of the pack generated higher a percentage of accuracy in No-Go trials (ie, fewer commission errors). Conclusions: These results suggest that GHWs increase inhibitory control in adolescents, especially when the GHWs cover 60% of the front of the cigarette pack.Implications: GHWs with an increased size (60% of the front of the cigarette pack vs. 30%, the minimum size, proposed by the World Health Organization) recruit additional cognitive resources and thus can effectively increase inhibitory control both in adolescent smokers and nonsmokers. Accordingly, the use of larger GHW has the potential of becoming an effective public policy strategy to inhibit smoking in adolescents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

- Abstract
The objective of this study was to determine the levels and the relationship between body image satisfaction, perceived stress and resilience in soldier amputee victims of the internal armed conflict in Colombia. It was a quantitative, cross-sectional study of correlational scope, with the participation of 22 Colombian soldiers who were victims of the internal armed conflict and with some degree of amputation. For each soldier, the Multidimensional Body Self-relations Questionnaire (MBSRQ), Perceived Stress (EEP-14) and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC 10) were applied. The results show high scores in behaviors aimed at maintaining physical fitness, self-assessed physical attractiveness and physical appearance, low scores in stress and scores with high trends in resilience, as well as a negative correlation between stress and conducts aimed to maintain physical fitness., El objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar los niveles y la relación entre satisfacción de la imagen corporal, estrés percibido y resiliencia en soldados con amputación víctimas del conflicto armado interno colombiano.
