Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a severe and long-lasting side effect caused by various anticancer agents that damage sensory, motor and autonomic nerves. It can cause maladaptive behaviors, including disease severity, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, falls, and social impairment. These disorders have physical, psychological and social effects on patients and can seriously influence their quality of life.To investigate the current situation of psychosocial adaptation to the disease and its influencing factor in patients with CIPN.A convenience sampling method was used to select 233 patients with CIPN in our hospital from February to August 2021. In addition, a cross-sectional survey was conducted using a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Self-Report Psychosocial Adjustment to Illness Scale, and the European Organisation for the Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life CIPN20 (QLQ-CIPN20). Factors influencing psychosocial adaptation in patients with CIPN were analyzed byThe psychosocial adaptation score of patients with CIPN was 52.51 ± 13.18. Multivariate analysis showed that autonomic nerves, tumor stage, motor nerves, education level, availability of caregivers, semi-retirement status, CIPN grade were independent risk factors for patients with CIPN (Patients with CIPN have poor psychosocial adaptation and are affected by a variety of physiological, psychological, and social factors. Patients' adaptive responses should be assessed, and targeted interventions implemented.

Introduction Moxibustion is described as a technique that applies heat which is generated by burning herbal preparations containing Artemisia vulgaris to stimulate acupuncture points. The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of moxibustion treatment for AS. In the future, a larger RCT will be conducted based on preliminary data from this study. Methods This research is a protocol for an open, assessor- and analyst-blinded, randomized clinical trial with two parallel groups. Participants who meet the modified New York criteria for AS will be randomly allocated to the intervention group or the control group with a 1:1 allocation ratio. The intervention group will receive moxibustion intervention for 3 weeks and follow-up for 6 weeks. The control group will not receive moxibustion intervention and will be followed for 6 weeks. Conventional interventions will be allowed for both groups. Primary outcome measures are BASFI, BASDAI, and BASMI. Secondary outcome measures are SF-36, EQ-5D, ASQoL and serum levels of ESR and CRP. Ethics and dissemination This protocol has been approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of the Clinical Research Centre (Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, IRB No. [2018] YK006-01). In addition, results of this preliminary study will be disseminated through peer-reviewed publications.

Background: Moxibustion is widely used in East Asian countries to manage the symptom of rheumatic diseases. The aim of this study was to identify potential metabolic profiles of moxibustion on relieving ankylosing spondylitis (AS) mice through UHPLC-Q-TOF/MS metabolomic study. Methods: Thirty-two female Balb/c mice were randomized into healthy control (HC), AS model, moxibustion at acupuncture points (MA) in AS model, and moxibustion at non-acupuncture points (MNA) AS model groups. Moxibustion was administered daily at GV4, bilateral BL23 and bilateral ST36 acupuncture points for four weeks in the MA group. The overall health status, the thickness of hind paws and the tissue concentrations of IL-1β, PGE2, IL-6 and TNF-α were assessed. Introduction Moxibustion has been widely used in East Asia to manage patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). This study aimed to evaluate the short-term effectiveness and safety of moxibustion therapy for treating AS. Methods This single-blind randomized controlled pilot study was conducted from August 2018 to January 2019 on 76 AS patients, who were randomly allocated to either a control (n = 32) or an intervention group (n = 30). The control group received conventional intervention alone, while the intervention group received in-patient moxibustion therapy in addition to their conventional intervention for four weeks. Musculoskeletal BATH scores, HRQoL(health-related quality of life), and blood samples were assessed at baseline and at the endpoint-week 6. Results Moxibustion significantly improved physical function and decreased disease activity, according to the BASFI (bath ankylosing spondylitis functional index) and BASDAI (bath ankylosing spondylitis disease activity) indexes, respectively (p 0.05). Additionally, moxibustion produced significant improvement in some domains of the SF-36 (Short form 36 health survey) HRQoL and ASQOL (ankylosing spondylitis quality of life) scale (p 0.05). Conclusion Moxibustion in combination with conventional therapies may exhibit beneficial effects for AS patients in the short-term, such as improved physical function and health-related quality of life and decreased disease activity. However, these positive results should be interpreted with caution, as most of the included outcomes were limited to self-assessment tools, and there were no appropriate placebo controls or long-term follow-ups. Further research is needed that would utilize an appropriate moxibustion placebo device and include more objective outcomes, which could evaluate the long-term effectiveness of moxibustion interventions on AS.
