Abstract

In 2016, an exposure meter was installed on the Lijiang Fiber-fed High-Resolution Spectrograph to monitor the coupling of starlight to the science fiber during observations. Based on it, we investigated a method to estimate the exposure flux of the CCD in real time by using the counts of the photomultiplier tubes (PMT) of the exposure meter, and developed a piece of software to optimize the control of the exposure time. First, by using flat-field lamp observations, we determined that there is a linear and proportional relationship between the total counts of the PMT and the exposure flux of the CCD. Second, using historical observations of different spectral types, the corresponding relational conversion factors were determined and obtained separately. Third, the method was validated using actual observation data, which showed that all values of the coefficient of determination were greater than 0.92. Finally, software was developed to display the counts of the PMT and the estimated exposure flux of the CCD in real-time during the observation, providing a visual reference for optimizing the exposure time control., Comment: Published in Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics

19. Effects of $p$-wave Interactions on Borromean Efimov Trimers in Heavy-Light Fermi Systems

Abstract

We investigate the effects of $p$-wave interactions on Efimov trimers in systems comprising two identical heavy fermions and a light particle, with mass ratios larger than $13.6$. Our focus lies on the borromean regime where the ground-state trimer exists in the absence of dimers. Using pair-wise Lennard-Jones potentials and concentrating on the $L^{\pi} = 1^{-}$ symmetry, we explore the critical value of the interspecies $s$-wave scattering length $a_{c}$ at which the borromean state appears in several two-component particle systems. We study the universal properties of $a_{c}$ and the influence of $p$-wave fermion-fermion interactions on its value. Our findings show that, in the absence of $p$-wave fermion-fermion interactions, $a_{c}$ is universally determined by the van der Waals radius and mass ratio. However, when attractive interactions between the two fermions are introduced, the formation of the borromean state becomes favored over the absence of $p$-wave fermion-fermion interaction. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the $p$-wave Efimov effects persist even when the fermion-fermion interaction is taken to the $p$-wave unitary limit.

20. A network meta-analysis of the effectiveness of different basic preconditioning regiments in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

Abstract

Objective To investigate and compare the effects of basic preconditioning regimens Bu/Cy, Cy/TBI and Flu/Bu for the treatment of patients in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.Methods It comprised exploring the published literature in the databases of PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science, using suitable keywords pertaining to various basic pretreatments Bu/Cy, Cy/TBI, and Flu/Bu, prior to allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and then extracting the searched outcome indicators of Overall Survival (OS) and survival (herein represented as OS and survival). Further, the results were estimated with meta-analysis using R, where the incidence of GVHD was reported in odds ratio (OR) with its 95% confidence interval (95%CI).Results and Discussion A total of 14 papers were included in this study, including 1436 cases were treated with Bu/Cy, 1816 cases with Cy/TBI, and 549 cases with Flu/Bu in the preconditioning regimen. After OS was the outcome pooled, compared with Flu/Bu in the preconditioning group, the results (Cy/TBI HR = 1.12 (95% Cl:1.04,1.61), Bu/Cy HR = 1.24 (95% Cl. 1.13,2.06)) showed that Flu/Bu preconditioning regimen significantly improved the overall survival rate of allogeneic HSCT patients. With the incidence of GVHD as the outcome summary, compared with Flu/Bu in the pretreatment group, the results (Cy/TBI HR = 1.24 (95% Cl:1.12, 1.82), Bu/Cy HR = 1.14 (95% Cl. 1.03, 2.12)) indicated that Flu/Bu in the pretreatment regimen group also significantly reduced the incidence of GVHD after allogeneic HSCT.Conclusion Patients who received the basal preconditioning regimen Flu/Bu before allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation had the lowest hazard ratio for overall survival (OS) development. This indicates that the use of the basal preconditioning regimen Flu/Bu for the treatment of patients was the most effective, although the quality of the studies included needs to be confirmed by high-quality randomized controlled trials.

Abstract

"Objective To explore the correlation between triglyceride glucose (TyG) index and arteriosclerosis in natural population, and whether TyG index could be used as a predictor of poor prognosis of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted on 4 355 adults recruited from the natural population in the community of Gaoyou City, Jiangsu Province from 2009 to 2010. According to the TyG index quartiles, they were divided into Q1 group (TyG≤8.19,n=1 100), Q2 group (8.19＜TyG≤8.55,n=1 080), Q3 group (8.55＜TyG≤8.99,n=1 103), Q4 group (TyG＞8.99,n=1 072). Taking brachial-ankle pulse wave conduction velocity (baPWV) as the observation index of arteriosclerosis, the correlation between TyG index and baPWV was analyzed by univariate and multivariate linear regression. A restricted cubic spline function diagram with multivariate correction was performed to explore whether there was a nonlinear correlation between TyG index and baPWV. Results After adjusting for confounding factors, compared with Q1 group, the regression coefficient and its 95%CI of TyG index affecting baPWV among Q2, Q3 and Q4 groups were 0.11 (-0.07-0.29), 0.41 (0.23-0.59) and 0.97 (0.78-1.16), respectively (trend testP＜0.01). Restricted cubic spline analysis showed a linear positive correlation between TyG index and baPWV. The mediator effect analysis also showed that TyG index partially mediated the impact on baPWV through inflammation. Conclusion TyG index is linearly and positively correlated with atherosclerosis."

22. The complete plastid genome of Abrus pulchellus subsp. mollis (Leguminosae): a medicinal plant in Southern China

Abstract

The subspecies Abrus pulchellus subsp. mollis exhibits pharmacological properties akin to the traditional Chinese medicinal plant Abri Herba (A. pulchellus subsp. cantoniensis (Hance) Verdc.). In this report, we unveil the plastid genome of A. pulchellus subsp. mollis. The genome spans 156,322 base pairs (bp), comprising a large single-copy (LSC) region of 86,633 bp, a small single-copy (SSC) region of 18,219 bp, and two distinct inverted repeat regions (IRs) of 25,735 bp each. Annotation process cataloged a total of 111 genes within this genome, including 77 protein-coding genes, 30 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, and four ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes. The overall guanine-cytosine (GC) content of the plastome is 35.5%. Phylogenetic analysis utilizing maximum-likelihood (ML) based on 16 complete plastid genomes reveals a close clustering of three Abrus taxa, namely A. pulchellus subsp. mollis, A. pulchellus subsp. cantoniensis, and A. precatorius. Notably, A. pulchellus subsp. cantoniensis clusters with A. precatorius as a sister group, distinct from A. pulchellus subsp. mollis. These findings highlight significant differences between the plastid genomes of the two subspecies, laying the foundation for future research on the identification of medicinal herbs and germplasm resources related to these subspecies.

23. Clinical characteristics of acute attacks of BA in school-age children in Kashgar region and correlation analysis of 25（OH）D3 levels with disease severity

Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical characteristics of acute attacks of bronchial asthma （BA） in children in Kashgar region， and analyze the impact of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 （25（OH）D3） levels on disease severity. Methods Children with acute BA attacks， aged 6-14 years， admitted to a certain thirdtier A-level Hospital of Kashgar were enrolled and divided into different groups according to disease severity （mild， moderate and severe） and 25（OH）D3 levels （normal， insufficiency and deficiency）. Clinical characteristics were compared among different groups. The correlation between 25（OH）D3 levels and disease severity was analyzed. Results A total of 112 children were enrolled， with a male-to-female ratio of 2.61∶1， with a median age of 9.0 （7.0-11.0） years old. The highest incidence was found in spring （42.9%）. The positive rate of allergens is 74.1%（83/112）， with inhaled allergens as the main type （89.1%）， and the tree combination had the highest positive rate （47.0%）.Based on disease severity， 36 cases were assigned into the mild group， 51 cases in the moderate group， and 25 cases in the severe group. As the disease severity was aggravated， the forced vital capacity （FVC）， forced expiratory volume at 1 second （FEV1）， and the ratio of FEV1 to FVC（FEV1/FVC） were gradually decreased （all P <0.001）. The eosinophil （EOS） count in the severe group was higher than that in the mild group （P < 0.05）. According to 25（OH）D3levels， 28 cases had normal 25（OH）D3 levels， 21 cases with insufficient 25（OH）D3 levels， and 35 cases with 25（OH）D3 deficiency. The FVC， FEV1， FEV1/FVC， and peak expiratory flow （PEF） in the 25（OH）D3 deficiency group were significantly lower than those in the insufficient and normal 25（OH）D3 groups （all P < 0.05）. The disease severity significantly differed among three groups （H = 9.538， P = 0.008）. Serum 25 （OH） D3 levels were negatively correlated with the severity of BA attacks （τ = -0.304， P =0.002）. Conclusions Spring is the peak season of acute attacks of BA in school-age children from Kashgar. Inhaled allergens are mainly composed of tree combination. As the severity of this condition deteriorates， lung function of the affected children are gradually declined. Serum 25 （OH） D3 levels are associated with lung function and the severity of acute attacks in children with BA.

Abstract

Non-Negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) is a widely used dimension reduction method that factorizes a non-negative data matrix into two lower dimensional non-negative matrices: One is the basis or feature matrix which consists of the variables and the other is the coefficients matrix which is the projections of data points to the new basis. The features can be interpreted as sub-structures of the data. The number of sub-structures in the feature matrix is also called the rank which is the only tuning parameter in NMF. An appropriate rank will extract the key latent features while minimizing the noise from the original data. In this paper, we develop a novel rank selection method based on hypothesis testing, using a deconvolved bootstrap distribution to assess the significance level accurately despite the large amount of optimization error. In the simulation section, we compare our method with a rank selection method based on hypothesis testing using bootstrap distribution without deconvolution, and with a cross-validated imputation method1. Through simulations, we demonstrate that our method is not only accurate at estimating the true ranks for NMF especially when the features are hard to distinguish but also efficient at computation. When applied to real microbiome data (e.g. OTU data and functional metagenomic data), our method also shows the ability to extract interpretable sub-communities in the data.

BackgroundToward the close of the 20th century, Chinese scholars introduced a novel pedagogical approach to education in China, distinguished by its divergence from conventional teaching methods. This instructional strategy assumes a pivotal role in imparting indispensable medical knowledge to students within a meticulously structured and all-encompassing framework.ObjectiveThe objective of this study is to assess the effectiveness of a novel teaching approach that integrates the three action teaching model with learning plan guidance within a preventive medicine course. Through this investigation, empirical evidence will be provided regarding the impact of utilizing learning guided by the three action teaching model with learning plan guidance as an innovative instructional method, thereby shedding light on its potential to enhance students’ autonomous learning in the field of preventive medicine.MethodsThe control group consisted of 48 students from Class 2 of clinical medicine in grade 2021, who were taught using the traditional classroom teaching mode. Meanwhile, Class 1 served as the experimental group comprising 47 individuals, who received instruction through the three-action teaching model with learning plan guidance. Abstract

This paper is dedicated to the fundamental research of the mechanical model of a 1/4-vehicle semi-active suspension system with time-delayed state feedback control during wheel vertical displacement. The strategy combining the “equivalent harmonic excitation” optimization algorithm with the particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed in this paper. Through the optimization and solution of time-delayed feedback control parameters of the 1/4 vehicle semi-active suspension system, the dynamic response of the vehicle suspension system before and after parameter optimization is studied. The research results indicate that, compared to passive control, time-delayed feedback control of wheel vertical displacement can significantly improve the smoothness, handling stability, and safety of vehicle operation.

Abstract

Dendritic cells (DCs) are the most potent professional antigen-presenting cells (APCs), which play a pivotal role in inducing either inflammatory or tolerogenic response based on their subtypes and environmental signals. DCs are critical for initiation and progression of multiple sclerosis (MS). Induction of tolerogenic DCs (tolDCs) with powerful therapeutic potential has been well - established to combat autoimmune responses in laboratory models and early clinical trials. In contrast to in vitro tolDCs induction, in vivo elicitation by specifically targeting multiple cell - surface receptors has shown greater promise with more advantages. Here, we summarize the role of DCs in governing immune tolerance and in the process of initiating and perpetuating MS. We then highlight the most promising cell-surface receptors expressed on DCs currently being explored as the viable pharmacological targets through antigen delivery to generate tolDCs in vivo, to guide feasible immunotherapeutic strategies.

Abstract

In this study, we investigate atom--dimer scattering within the framework of the hyperspherical method. The coupled channel Schr\"odinger equation is solved using the R-matrix propagation technique combined with the smooth variable discretization method. In the matching procedure, the asymptotic wave functions are expressed in the rotated Jacobi coordinates. We apply this approach to the elastic scattering $^{3}$He(T$\uparrow$) + $^{4}$He$_{2}$ and H$\uparrow$ + H$\uparrow$Li processes. The convergence of the scattering length as a function of the propagation distance is studied. We find that the method is reliable and can provide considerable savings over previous propagators.

Abstract

The New Vacuum Solar Telescope (NVST) has been releasing its novel winged Ha data (WHD) since April 2021, namely the Ha imaging spectroscopic data. Compared with the prior released version, the new data are further co-aligned among the off-band images and packaged into a standard solar physics community format. In this study, we illustrate the alignment algorithm used by the novel WHD, which is mainly based on the optical flow method to obtain the translation offset between the winged images. To quantitatively evaluate the alignment results of two images with different similarities, we calculate the alignment accuracies between the images of different off-band and line center, respectively. The result shows that our alignment algorithm could reach up to the accuracy of about 0.1 "when the off-band of winged image is lower than 0.6 \.A. In addition, we introduce the final product of the WHD in detail, which can provide convenience for the solar physicists to use high-resolution H{\alpha} imaging spectroscopic data of NVST., Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures
