The aim of the research was to collect preliminary results for pilot-scale production. Properties of resin adsorption from sulphate solution were first studied by batch and column tests of the optimum pH, adsorption capacities and concentrations of stripping agents for In(III) and Ga(III). It was found that In could first be separated by adsorption at an acidity of 1 mol/l, whereas Ga and Zn could not. These were adsorbed together at pH 2.8 and then separated by stripping with 0.1 and 0.5 mol/l hydrochloric acid respectively. Recoveries of all three metal ions were greater than 99% and the resin had good recycling capability., The aim of the research was to collect preliminary results for pilot-scale production. The mechanism of In(III) adsorption from sulphate solutions with CL-P204 Levextrel resin was examined by infrared spectroscopy of batch operations. The results showed that the P204 adsorbed on the resin behaved in a similar way to that in solvent extraction, except that it was monomeric in resin adsorption but dimeric in solvent extraction. The influences of temperature, In(III) concentration and resin particle size were investigated. The rate of ion exchange increased with increasing temperature and solution concentration and with decreasing particle size.
