There is an increasing interest in investigating dietary strategies able to modulate the gut microbial ecosystem which, in turn, may play a key role in human health. Dietary fibers (DFs) are widely recognized as molecules with prebiotic effects. The main objective of this systematic review was to: (i) analyze the results available on the impact of DF intervention on short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) production; (ii) evaluate the interplay between the type of DF intervention, the gut microbiota composition and its metabolic activities, and any other health associated outcome evaluated in the host. To this aim, initially, a comprehensive database of literature on human intervention studies assessing the effect of confirmed and candidate prebiotics on the microbial ecosystem was developed. Subsequently, studies performed on DFs and analyzing at least the impact on SCFA levels were extracted from the database. A total of 44 studies from 42 manuscripts were selected for the analysis. Among the different types of fiber, inulin was the DF investigated the most (n = 11). Regarding the results obtained on the ability of fiber to modulate total SCFAs, seven studies reported a significant increase, while no significant changes were reported in five studies, depending on the analytical methodology used. A total of 26 studies did not show significant differences in individual SCFAs, while the others reported significant differences for one or more SCFAs. The effect of DF interventions on the SCFA profile seemed to be strictly dependent on the dose and the type and structure of DFs. Overall, these results underline that, although affecting microbiota composition and derived metabolites, DFs do not produce univocal significant increase in SCFA levels in apparently healthy adults. In this regard, several factors (i.e., related to the study protocols and analytical methods) have been identified that could have affected the results obtained in the studies evaluated. Future studies are needed to better elucidate the relationship between DFs and gut microbiota in terms of SCFA production and impact on health-related markers

[EN] This memory collects the pre‐production and production processes of the initial level of a 3D video game titled Homeless and shows the result in the form of a playable prototype. The game can be defined as a critical game with mechanics from the survival genre. The aim is to bring the problem of homelessness closer to the general public and motivate reflection on the subject by seeking to trigger the player's empathy towards the main characters and experience their situation, including social prejudices towards this part of the population. In this introductory level, the player makes initial contact with the characters and the style of the game. By exploring the environment and controlling the protagonists (a homeless person and a dog that accompanies him), the user experiences the game mechanics ‐ characteristic of survival video games ‐ and interacts with said environments and other NPCs to obtain resources. In the graphic aspect, a sober visual style with subtle use of textures has been sought. Following these guidelines, a low polygon geometry (Low Poly) and handcrafted textures were produced for the game., [ES] Esta memoria recoge los procesos de preproducción y producción del nivel inicial de un videojuego 3D titulado Homeless y muestra el resultado en forma de prototipo jugable. El juego puede definirse como un critical game con mecánicas del género supervivencia. Con él se pretende acercar la problemática del sinhogarismo al público en general, buscando la empatía del jugador con los personajes principales para experimentar su situación, incluidos los prejuicios sociales hacia esta parte de la población, con el objetivo de motivar la reflexión sobre el tema. En este nivel introductorio el jugador toma contacto con los personajes y el estilo del juego. Mediante la exploración del entorno, controlando a los protagonistas (una persona sin hogar y un perro que le acompaña), se van descubriendo las mecánicas ‐características de los videojuegos de supervivencia‐ de interacción con el entorno y con NPCs para obtener recursos. En el aspecto gráfico, se ha buscado un estilo visual sobrio y con un uso sutil de las texturas. Siguiendo estas directrices se optó por realizar los modelos con una geometría de bajo número de polígonos (Low Poly) y elaborar manualmente las texturas.

RESUMEN Introducción: El consumo de Cigarrillos electrónicos (CE) ha aumentado considerablemente en los últimos años. Estos productos son ahora los más comúnmente utilizados por la juventud en diversos países del mundo y nuestro país no está exento de su utilización. En este contexto se ha realizado el presente estudio; cuyo objetivo fue conocer la frecuencia de uso de cigarrillo electrónico y otras características del consumo de CE en universitarios. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio observacional, descriptivo. Se procesaron datos de 1500 estudiantes de diferentes Unidades Académicas de la UNA que respondieron a la encuesta electrónica. Se determinaron variables demográficas como sexo y edad, particularidades sobre los CE relacionadas a la preferencia por determinado dispositivo, motivaciones para el consumo, simultaneidad de consumo de cigarrillo común, así como la percepción de riesgo con respecto al mismo y las molestias ocasionadas por vapear. La encuesta fue anónima y realizada entre los meses de junio y julio del año 2019 mediante la plataforma libre Google Form. Para el procesamiento de datos se utilizó la planilla Excel. Los estudiantes recibieron vía aplicación de mensajería instantánea un link para responder el cuestionario, el mismo fue distribuido por grupos de docentes y delegados de los cursos de cada unidad académica. Resultados: Respondieron a la encuesta un total de 1500 alumnos, 502 hombres (33,5%) y 998 mujeres (66,5%). El promedio de edad fue de 24 años (DE: ± 3.2), con edades comprendidas entre los 17 y 62 años. Al preguntar sobre el hábito de fumar o vapear los estudiantes respondieron: No fuma ninguno 1222 (81 %), consume cigarrillos electrónicos: 74(5 %), 146 (10%) consumen cigarrillo común y un total de 58(4%) consumen ambos productos. Considerando el total de consumidores de CE y aquellos que utilizan ambos (CE y Cigarrillo común), tenemos una frecuencia de 132 consumidores de CE (9%). Percepción de riesgo con respecto a cigarrillos comunes: Ningún riesgo 32 (24%), pequeño riesgo: 54 (41%), riesgo moderado: 34 (26%), alto riesgo: 9 (7%) e igual riesgo: 3 (2%). Entre las molestias más frecuentes: tos 27 (20%), irritación de garganta 20 (15%), dolor de cabeza 6 (5 %) y malestar general 4 (3%). Conclusión: El uso de CE se aproxima al consumo de cigarrillo común y los universitarios no son conscientes sobre los daños potenciales que confiere el uso de estos dispositivos. Para prevenir y reducir el uso de cigarrillos electrónicos por los jóvenes y los adultos jóvenes debemos poner en práctica estrategias de prevención efectivas. ABSTRACT Introduction: The consumption of Electronic Cigarettes (EC) has increased considerably in recent years. These products are now the most commonly used by youth in various countries of the world and our country is not exempt from their use. In this context, the present study has been carried out; whose objective was to know the frequency of use of electronic cigarettes and other characteristics of CE consumption in university students. Materials and methods: Observational, descriptive study. Data from 1500 students from different UNA Academic Units that responded to the electronic survey were processed. Demographic variables such as sex and age, peculiarities on EC related to the preference for a certain device, motivations for consumption, simultaneity of consumption of common cigarettes, as well as the perception of risk with respect to it and the discomfort caused by vaping were determined. The survey was anonymous and carried out between the months of June and July of the year 2019 through the free platform Google Forms. The Excel spreadsheet was used for data processing. The students received a link via instant messaging application to answer the questionnaire, it was distributed by groups of teachers and delegates of the courses of each academic unit. Results: A total of 1500 students answered the survey, 502 men (33.5%) and 998 women (66.5%). The average age was 24 years (SD: ±16), with ages between 17 and 62 years. When asked about the habit of smoking or vaping, the students answered: 1222 (81%) do not smoke, use electronic cigarettes: 74 (5%), 146 (10%) use a regular cigarette and a total of 58 (4%) use both products. Considering the total of EC consumers and those who use both (EC and Common Cigarette), we have a frequency of 132 EC consumers (9%). Perception of risk with respect to common cigarettes: No risk 32 (24%), small risk: 54 (41%), moderate risk: 34 (26%), high risk: 9 (7%) and equal risk: 3 (2 %). Among the most frequent complaints: cough 27 (20%), throat irritation 20 (15%), headache 6 (5%) and general discomfort 4 (3%). Conclusion: The use of EC is close to the consumption of common cigarettes and the university students are not aware of the potential damage that the use of these devices confers. To prevent and reduce the use of electronic cigarettes by youth and young adults, we must implement effective prevention strategies.

La arquitectura debe dar una respuesta al cambio climático y la sobrepoblación, tratando de alcanzar un equilibrio entre el medio ambiente, la economía y la construcción, basándose en un buen planteamiento en su diseño y un óptimo aprovechamiento de la energía, pero siempre, teniendo en cuenta a las personas y sus necesidades. Existen muchas estrategias dentro de la arquitectura que tratan de resolver esta problemática y alcanzar construcciones de baja demanda energética. En la mayoría de los casos estos avances se aplican a edificios de nueva planta, dejando de lado la arquitectura preexistente. Este trabajo trata de comprobar si es posible la utilización de estrategias de construcción actuales de un estándar internacional como es el Passivhaus, para la rehabilitación de arquitectura popular, sin que esta pierda su valor patrimonial. Architecture must respond to climate change and overpopulation, trying to achieve a balance between environment, economy and construction. It should be based on a good approach in its design and optimal use of energy, but always, taking into account people and their needs. Nowadays, many strategies within architecture try to solve this problem and obtain buildings with lower energy demand. In most cases, these advances are applied to new-floor buildings, but they leave aside the pre-existing architecture. This work tries to verify if it is possible to use current construction strategies of an international standard such as the Passivhaus, for the rehabilitation of popular architecture, without it losing its heritage value.

La pandemia por COVID-19 ha traído una inmensa presión sobre recursos sanitarios limitados, que incluyen personal de salud, elementos de protección personal y, de manera especialmente preocupante, camas de cuidado intensivo, ventiladores y demás equipos requeridos para el cuidado crítico.

El aprendizaje basado en problemas (ABP) permite que el estudiante aprenda los contenidos de las asignaturas motivado por un interés situacional y, sobre todo, que se ejercite en la resolución de problemas. Los problemas de Farmacología son problemas en los que se explica una historia, en las que se dan una gran cantidad de datos irrelevantes de entre los que se deben encontrar los que realmente son de utilidad y que permiten resolver el problema. Estos problemas son elaborados por los integrantes de esta red, de ahí que el número de profesores implicados, procedentes de diferentes países, ha ido aumentando con los años, con el fin de aumentar en número los problemas y completar los diferentes grupos farmacológicos con la finalidad publicarlos en formato libro, como material docente, pero sin contenido teórico, para la puesta en práctica en el aula en las diferentes titulaciones, relacionadas o no con ciencias de la salud, en la que imparten docencia los integrantes de esta red.

La Zona de Cirugía (ZC) del Hospital Universidad del Norte (HUN) presenta en la actualidad un crecimiento considerable en el número de pacientes que debe atender; aspecto para el cual no se encontraba preparada en materia de espacio físico. Esto ha generado problemas notorios tales como el flujo ralentizado de pacientes y tiempos prolongados de espera de los mismos para su ingreso a cirugía. A su vez, la alta tasa de llegada de pacientes a la ZC repercute en una baja disponibilidad de camas, lo cual se traduce en la necesidad de usar áreas de la zona en cuestión para fines no establecidos. Ejemplo de esto es la ocupación del área de preparación pre-cirugía y de los pasillos, por pacientes ya intervenidos quirúrgicamente y en fase de recuperación. Con base en esto, mediante un modelo de simulación en Arena® de la operación de la ZC, se llevó a cabo un análisis de sensibilidad de los recursos con los cuales cuenta la zona, con el fin de mejorar su desempeño en varios escenarios propuestos (alternativas de solución). Para lograr determinar si efectivamente se presentaron mejoras o no, se definieron indicadores asociados principalmente al tiempo de espera de un paciente por ingreso a cirugía, a la utilización de recursos con los cuales cuenta la zona, y a las metas establecidas por las directivas de ésta última con respecto al nivel de servicio ofrecido y a la cantidad de pacientes a intervenir en un período determinado. Se encontró que de seguir operando de la misma manera, no se alcanzarán mejoras en los indicadores establecidos. Por el contrario, la adición de una auxiliar de limpieza y una enfermera rotadora aumenta notablemente el nivel de servicio y el número de pacientes intervenidos. A su vez, este cambio permite una reducción en tiempo promedio de espera de los pacientes por quirófano. Finalmente, el incremento en las camas en el área de recuperación trae consigo disminución en la utilización de los espacios inadecuados para la recuperación de pacientes. The Surgery Zone (SZ) of the Hospital Universidad del Norte (HUN) presents a substantial growth in the number of patients it needs to attend nowadays; aspect for which it is not prepared regarding physical space. This has generated notorious problems such as slow patients flow and extended wait times for the patients to enter their respective surgeries. On the other hand, the high patients’ arrival rate of the SZ has repercussions on the low availability of beds, which creates the need to use areas of the zone for not-established purposes. An example of this is the occupation of the pre-surgery preparation area and halls by already-operated patients and in recovery phase. Based on this, through a simulation model in Arena® of the operation of the SZ, a sensitivity analysis of the resources of the zone was done, in order to improve its performance in some proposed scenarios (solution alternatives). For determining if effectively improvement was reached or not, indicators related mainly to the patients’ wait time for entering to their surgery, to the utilization of the resources of the zone, and to the goals established by the directives of the latter regarding the offered service level and the number of attended patients. It was found that if the SZ keeps operating the same way as it does now, it will not be possible to achieve an improvement among the indicators. Also, the addition of another janitor and nurse would remarkably increase the service level and the quantity of attended patients. Also, this change allows a reduction in the patients’ average wait time for entering the operating room. Finally, the increase in the quantity of beds on the recovery area brings a reduction in the utilization of the inadequate spaces for the recovery of the patients once they get out from their surgery.
