Prior research has documented that a firm's disclosure of corporate social responsibility (CSR) makes it a more attractive business partner, boosting its sales. The authors extend this finding to business-to-business (B2B) firms. Using a regulatory change in China as a quasi-natural experiment, they demonstrate that a firm's disclosure of its CSR lowers by 2.1% the firm's dependence (for sales revenue) on its major customers but raises by 3.7% its dependence (for purchases) on its major suppliers. They further show that the firm's production efficiency (marketing efficiency) is a mechanism underlying the effect of CSR disclosure on dependence on major customers (suppliers). Next, they demonstrate that the CSR report's emphasis on the firm's supply chain partners weakens (strengthens) the effect on dependence on major customers (suppliers). The findings contribute to the multidisciplinary evidence on the B2B value of CSR disclosure, and the operations and marketing literature streams on determinants of supply-chain dependence. This study examines the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure and financial performance among listed firms in Chengdu, China. Using the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS)-CSR 4.0 standard, we analyzed the extent and quality of CSR disclosures for 68 firms over the 2019-2020 period. To address endogeneity, we employed Ordinary Least Squares regression (OLS) regression and Two- Stage Least Squares (2SLS) estimations with two novel instruments. The findings reveal a positive correlation between CSR disclosure and accounting-based metrics such as Return on Assets (ROA) and Earnings per Share (EPS), while a negative relationship with Tobin's Q underscores the complex dynamics with market valuation. Building on these insights, the study suggests policymakers incentivize voluntary CSR disclosures through tax benefits or regulatory advantages and consider mandating specific CSR information based on CASS-CSR and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) frameworks. This approach could help enterprises define disclosure boundaries, enhance transparency, and foster accountability, offering valuable insights into the CSR-financial performance nexus in the emerging economy. Tax avoidance, often driven by managerial discretion, remains a critical issue in corporate governance due to its implications for financial transparency and regulatory compliance. This study investigates how Transfer Pricing, Thin Capitalization, Leverage, and CSR Disclosure – strategies employed by managers – affect Tax Avoidance and examines the mediating role of Financial Reporting Aggressiveness. Grounded in agency theory, the study analyzes data from 20 firms listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2023 using PLS-SEM. The findings reveal that Transfer Pricing (β = 0.062, p = 0.002), Leverage (β = 0.046, p < 0.001), and CSR Disclosure (β = 0.061, p < 0.001) significantly increase Tax Avoidance, with Financial Reporting Aggressiveness acting as a mediator. However, Thin Capitalization does not significantly influence Tax Avoidance (β = 0.028, p = 0.422). These results suggest that managers exploit these mechanisms to minimize tax burdens, often at the cost of long-term shareholder interests. The study calls for stronger corporate governance and stricter oversight of CSR reporting and financial transparency to mitigate such practices.

Purpose: In this fast-changing world, digitization has become crucial to organizations, allowing decision-makers to alter corporate processes. Companies with a higher corporate social responsibility (CSR) level not only help encourage employees to focus on their goals, but they also show that they take their social responsibility seriously, which is increasingly important in today's digital economy. So, this study aims to examine the relationship between digital transformation and CSR disclosure of Chinese A-share companies. Furthermore, this research investigates the moderating impact of governance heterogeneity, including CEO power and corporate internal control (INT) mechanisms. Design/methodology/approach: This study used fixed effect estimation with robust standard errors to examine the relationship between digital transformation and CSR disclosure and the moderating effect of governance heterogeneity among Chinese A-share companies from 2010 to 2020. The whole sample consists of 17,266 firms, including 5,038 state-owned enterprise (SOE) company records and 12,228 non-SOE records. The whole sample data is collected from the China Stock Market and Accounting Research, the Chinese Research Data Services and the WIND databases. Findings: The regression results lead us to three conclusions after classifying the sample into non-SOE and SOE groups. First, Chinese A-share businesses with greater levels of digitalization have lower CSR disclosures. Both SOE and non-SOE are consistent with these findings. Second, increasing CEO authority creates a more centralized company decision-making structure (Breuer et al., 2022; Freire, 2019), which improves the negative association between digitalization and CSR disclosure. These conclusions, however, also apply to non-SOE. Finally, INT reinforces the association between corporate digitization and CSR disclosure, which is especially obvious in SOEs. These findings are robust to alternative HEXUN CSR disclosure index. Heterogeneity analysis shows that the negative relationship between corporate digitalization and CSR disclosures is more pronounced in bigger, highly levered and highly financialized firms. Originality/value: Digitalization and CSR disclosure are well studied, but few have examined their interactions from a governance heterogeneity perspective in China. This research was conducted to prove that the economic welfare of the community is related to and has an influence on the existence of corporate social responsibility activities. The findings in this study assume the existence of the Covid-19 as a period that has an impact on the global crisis. The effects of the global crisis caused companies to experience a decline in net sales, and policies on corporate social activities changed. This study tries to link the variables of public ownership and net sales of companies to disclosure of social responsibility and the economic welfare of the community. The sampling design in this study uses a list of manufacture companies included in the Kompas 100 index list for two consecutive years, namely 2020 and 2021, which is the period when the health crisis in Indonesia began. The results of this study are that the variables of public ownership structure and net sales index have a significant relationship with social responsibility disclosure. However, the disclosure of social responsibility is not significant to economic welfare. Public ownership brings the company more attention from the surrounding community. Meanwhile, sales growth is used as a company measure to satisfy company owners and benefit the community. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between ownership and control concentration and voluntary disclosure of corporate social responsibility (CSR) reports. Our sample was comprised of 207 listed firms with data among the period between 2012 and 2019. We collected firm's financial data and CSR reports, which were analyzed through logistic regression models. The main results suggest that the higher the concentration of equity shares with voting rights in the hands of the largest shareholder, or even the aggregate shares of the three largest ones, the less likely the firm is to voluntarily disclose CSR reports. This research demonstrates the relevance of legitimacy theory to explain aspects concerning capital markets and corporate reports disclosure. It also indicates a possible principal-principal conflict, in which the largest shareholders are not inclined to disclose CSR reports that could bring informational benefits to minority shareholders. Increased public awareness toward Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has intensified the pressure on the pharmaceutical industry to adopt more responsible practices. As a top supplier of Western pharmaceutical companies, Chinese pharmaceutical companies are not immune to these same pressures as they engage with overseas regulators and investors. This study analyzes the factors that contribute to the CSR disclosures of publicly listed Chinese pharmaceutical companies covering 2014–2018. In the analysis, peer comparison and market-driven incentives to disclose a firm's CSR impacts and risks come out as a robust determinant of overall disclosure and its components. While stakeholder awareness and strategic CSR have some varying degrees of associations with the five pillars of CSR disclosures, institutional framework and spill-over effect seem to have only limited influence on these disclosures. Multinational enterprises (MNEs) face increasing institutional complexity as they expand internationally, which has a significant effect on their corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy. In this study, we investigate an under‐explored difference between MNEs' employee and environmental CSR disclosure quality concerning the extent to which CSR reports are indicative of substantive activities. We propose that as international diversification increases institutional complexity, MNEs lower the disclosure quality of environmental CSR yet improve the disclosure quality of employee CSR due to their different institutional implications. In addition, we examine the effect of MNEs' home country cultural differences regarding uncertainty avoidance on the relationship between international diversification and employee and environmental disclosure quality. This study examines the association between chief executive officer (CEO) ability and the gap between internal and external corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure. We find that a firm’s CSR disclosure gap decreases when its CEO's ability increases. We also find that this negative association is strengthened when a CEO has political connections and when a CEO is internally promoted (inside CEO). Our results are robust after controlling for firm fixed effect and addressing endogeneity concerns. Overall our findings are consistent with our argument that more able CEOs significantly reduce the CSR disclosure gap and maintain the positive relationship between internal and external stakeholders. These results carry substantial implications for both theory and practice. From a practical standpoint, our findings emphasize the pivotal role of capable CEOs in orchestrating consistent CSR narratives that resonate internally and externally. This study offers valuable insights for corporate leaders striving to enhance their firms' CSR transparency and maintain favourable stakeholder relationships.

AbstractThis study examines how Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) disclosure and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) affect investment decisions mediated by Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) scores. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to test the hypotheses of this study using the SmartPLS 3.0 programme. Testing the router model is done using algorithmic techniques, and the inner model is tested by bootstrapping and model testing using goodness of fit. By analysing data from 79 companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), we found that CSR and SDGs disclosures positively affect ESG scores. ESG scores also positively affect investment decisions as measured by earnings per share. The findings of this test indicate that ESG scores mediate the relationship between CSR disclosure and earnings per share in a statistically significant way. However, the mediation of ESG score on the relationship between SDGs disclosure and earnings per share was not found to have a significant effect.

The engagement of Chengdu with global initiatives, notably the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), its nomination as a pilot city for International Sustainable Development, and its active participation in the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group’s Green and Thriving Neighborhoods Initiative, has highlighted the increasing necessity for local companies to adopt sustainable development practices amid shifting global and national economic landscapes. This study probes the relationship between external organizational pressures and the corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure behaviors of listed firms. Employing content analysis of corporate annual reports and leveraging the integrated theoretical frameworks of legitimacy, stakeholder, and institutional theories, this study scrutinizes the influence of external pressure determinants on CSR disclosure practices among 68 listed companies in Chengdu throughout 2019 to 2020. Our empirical findings provide some critical insights. First, there is a discernible positive trend in the extent and quality of CSR disclosures in Chengdu despite these being at relatively modest levels. Second, environmental sensitive industries (ENVIs) and state-owned enterprises (OWNs) emerge as institutional stakeholders exerting a significant effect on both the extent and quality of CSR disclosure. Third, media exposure (MEDIA) analyzed through data from three officially designated newspapers in China serves a bifurcated function, amplifying the extent of CSR disclosures while inversely affecting their quality. These discoveries hold significant implications for companies and policymakers in Chengdu aiming to elevate sustainability practices influenced by external institutional stakeholders.

This study aims to empirically test the influence of financial performance as proxied by return on assets and leverage on corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure and is strengthened by company size. This research is important because the object of this research is banking companies which have a crucial role in considering environmental issues in providing credit. Even though banking companies are not directly involved in environmental damage issues. The object of this study is banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2017-2022. The sample in this study was 21 banking companies selected using a purposive sampling technique and the sample years of these companies were not consecutive so that 115 observational data were obtained. The analysis technique in this research uses WarpPLS version 7.0. The results of this research show that leverage has a positive influence on corporate social responsibility and company size plays a role in strengthening this influence. However, profitability does not have a positive influence on corporate social responsibility, while company size strengthens this influence. The implication of this research is the importance of corporate social responsibility disclosure which is supported by leverage and company size for the survival of the company.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR), a concept which existed for almost a century, is gaining traction in both commercial and academic spheres. Firms are experiencing greater pressures to report more nonfinancial disclosures, especially on information related to their CSR initiatives. Even though some countries have implemented some forms of mandatory disclosure requirements, corporate executives continue to retain substantial autonomy in deciding the quality and extent of their corporate social responsibility disclosures (CSRDs). One hundred twenty-eight articles published from 2006 to 2022 were found in the Scopus and Web of Science databases using a systematic literature review technique. This study offers a comprehensive mapping of the research works conducted, theoretical frameworks cited, and various determinants of CSRD. This study reveals that legitimacy theory, agency theory, and stakeholder theory are commonly cited in CSRD literature. Many country-level, firm-level, and individual-level determining factors affecting the quality and quantity of CSRD were discovered. This research made valuable contributions to the extant literature on CSR across multiple dimensions. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is recognised as one of the most significant strategic business practices and has become an indispensable element of long-term corporate strategy worldwide to gain a competitive edge (Aspal et al., 2023; Nuredini & Matoshi, 2022). This research investigates the level of CSR disclosure (CSRD) practices of banking sector companies operating in India. The CSRD practices of banking companies are investigated by employing content analysis techniques for the most current financial year, 2021–2022. Company-specific and domain-specific scores have been calculated for ranking motives. According to our investigation results, India’s banking sector has limited involvement in CSRD. Our study further indicates that the banking sector primarily focuses its CSR efforts on ‘Education and training’, ‘Health and hygiene’, and ‘Rural development’. The study finds no difference in CSRD between public and private sector banks (PVSBs) in India during the reporting period. This study is the first investigation in India to evaluate the level of CSRD in the banking sector after adopting the Companies Act in 2013. This article aims to examine whether corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the number of audit committees have an association with corporate tax avoidance. After analyzing 428 firms' years of observation of the manufacturing industry from 2017 to 2019, the results of the linear regression suggest that CSR activities reported in the corporate report have no association with tax avoidance. Profitability and leverage, which serve as control variables, have an influence on tax avoidance. The study's findings suggest that companies do not use CSR activities as a tax avoidance tool, and conversely, high CSR activities do not correlate with increased tax payments or reduced tax avoidance. The number of audit committee members negatively affects the effective tax rate score (ETR), suggesting it encourages more tax avoidance. Our findings inform the tax authority agency and financial authority service that, to ensure tax compliance, the company should enhance the effectiveness of its audit committee. This study aims to obtain empirical evidence related to the effect of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) disclosure and profitability on the value of food and beverage subsector companies. The research population is a food and beverage subsector manufacturing company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2021. This study used a purposive sampling technique in sampling and obtained a sample of 48 companies with a total of 130 observational data. CSR disclosure in research is measured using GRI Standards, and profitability is proxied by Return on Equity (ROE). Firm value is proxied by Tobin's Q with period t + 1, the use of periods in firm value is a novelty in research. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that CSR disclosure has a significant negative effect on firm value. While profitability has a significant positive effect on firm value. This study contributes to the literature by introducing a temporal perspective in firm value measurement, highlighting the delayed impact of CSR disclosure and profitability on firm performance. The primary objective of this study is to thoroughly investigate the association between director tenure diversity and corporate sustainability performance. This study utilizes a sample comprising 578 firm-year observations from non-financial companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. To test the hypothesis, the study employs the Ordinary Least Squares method, complemented by a series of endogeneity tests. This study reveals that the sustainability performance of corporations in Indonesia falls significantly short of satisfactory levels. Furthermore, the study indicates that there is a negative association between tenure diversity and sustainability performance, demonstrating a U-shaped curve pattern. To ensure the robustness of our findings, we performed additional analysis using coarsened exact matching and Heckman (1979) two-stage least square methodologies, confirming that the results remained consistent with those of the initial test. Intriguingly, our supplementary analyses also revealed an inverse association between tenure diversity in the boardroom and sustainability performance within companies. This study makes a significant contribution to the corporate governance literature by elucidating the inverse association between director tenure diversity and sustainability performance. In doing so, it enhances the originality and novelty of existing studies, particularly within the context of developing countries, such as Indonesia. This study exhibits novelty by embracing a quantitative approach to measure sustainability performance, revealing an intriguing inverse association between sustainability performance and ESG initiatives within the companies. Company value is the number of sales obtained through an assessment of the company's ability, which reflects public trust in the company. Company value can be influenced by CSR disclosure, intellectual capital, and capital structure. This study examines the effect of CSR disclosure, intellectual capital, and capital structure on company value in energy sector companies listed on the IDX for 2017 to 2022. The research sample was determined using a purposive sampling technique so that 9 sample companies were obtained. The data used are annual and sustainability reports during the study period. This study uses panel data regression analysis with Eviews 12 software. This study's results indicate that CSR disclosure, intellectual capital, and capital structure simultaneously influence company value. Partially, CSR disclosure and intellectual capital do not affect company value, while capital structure has a negative effect on company value.

Increased interest in sustainability and related issues has led to the development of disclosed corporate information on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. Additionally, questions have arisen about whether these disclosures affect the firm's value. Therefore, we conducted a bibliometric analysis coupled with a systematic literature review (SLR) of the current literature in the Scopus database from 2001 to 2023. We utilized VOS viewer, Site Space, and R Studio tools for this analysis. Our findings indicate that the relationship between ESG disclosures and the firm's value has different effects and that disclosure impacts through various channels, such as increasing stakeholder trust. Moreover, the keyword analysis results before and after 2015 demonstrate significant advancement in the utilization of a theoretical foundation in the literature. Furthermore, China (Country), "Universidad de Salamanca" (University), "Uyar, Ali and García-Sánchez, Isabel-María" (Authors), and "Sustainability" and "Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management" (Journals) were the most contributing and influential in this field. On the other hand, the results revealed six thematic clusters: society, sustainable development, ESG, organization, innovation, and stakeholders. We found promising research paths and emerging themes through content analysis of these clusters, such as sustainability assurance, green innovation, and sustainable development goals (SDGs). This review concludes by providing a roadmap that includes emerging lines of research that can be explored in depth in future studies to promote better and more comprehensive integration to achieve sustainability and maximize firm value. Using a large sample of EU non-financial firms over the period 2008–2018, this study examines the effect of the 2014 EU Non-Financial Reporting Directive on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and finds that the Directive has led to an increase in CSR transparency and performance. Further, it shows that the association between the Directive and CSR transparency is stronger for smaller firms, firms highly followed by analysts and firms headquartered in countries with strong legal systems. The adoption of CSR reporting after the Directive's enactment, small firm size and investments in research and development strengthen the positive effects of the Directive on CSR performance. However, the mandating of CSR reporting assurance by some EU member states seems not to have any significant impact. Lastly, our study shows that after the Directive's enactment, firms adopting CSR reporting experienced lower systematic risk and cost of equity. Our study contributes to the debate about whether and how non-financial disclosure should be regulated and shows the positive effects of the 'comply or explain' approach. It also provides insights for the EU in relation to the recently approved proposal to extend CSR reporting regulation to listed small and medium-sized enterprises and mandate CSR reporting assurance. This study investigates the relation between the disclosure of corporate social responsibility (CSR) bad news and reputation. In particular, our analysis focuses on the moderating effect that such disclosure may have on corporate reputation. A large and growing number of studies in the CSR accounting literature provides empirical evidence supporting the argument that CSR disclosure – which has been criticized for its self-laudatory style – may serve as a reputation management tool used to camouflage a company's image among stakeholders, hence protect its reputation. These studies suggest that an optimistically biased reporting may enhance reputation. However, recent research in the financial accounting area shows that a non-or less-optimistically biased reporting may actually have positive effects on the credibility of the information disclosed. Therefore, the paper argues that the disclosure of CSR-related bad news could be beneficial and turn into better reputation. Financial performance is a critical aspect of a company's overall health and sustainability. It directly influences investor decisions, stock market performance, credit ratings, and the company's ability to access capital. Corporate financial performance is influenced by multitude of facts, both internal and external such as disclosure of the information, and social and environmental factors. On the ground of the facts, we aimed to investigate non-financial firms that belong to Asian economies affected by climate policy uncertainty and corporate social responsibility disclosures in terms of their financial performance. To conduct quantitative study analysis, we used the two effective statistical tools such as two-stage regression method and generalized method of movement (GMM). Our results show that corporate high value of social responsibility disclosure and climate policy uncertainty has significant negative impact on return on asset (ROA) of the listed organizations of China, Pakistan, and India. Moreover, CSR disclosure attributes higher values such as social (SC) and governance score (GOV), and climate policy uncertainty (CPU) has significant negative relationship with return on equity (ROE) and earning per share (EPS) respectively, while a higher value of ESG total score and the environmental (ENV) score has a significant positive impact on ROE and EPS. Additionally, the research concludes that climate policy uncertainty is a key factor that motivates CSR disclosure practices, which ultimately improves corporate financial performance. Moreover, we concluded from our finding that the climate policy uncertainty creates ambiguity surrounding government regulations, international agreements, or market mechanisms that affect financial performance. Moreover, environmental disclosure information that has the large part in total ESG scores attract the investors around the globe which leads to rise in the financial performance, while the other attributes of the CSR disclosure decrease performance. This study advocated the great implications for researchers, investors, the government, and regulatory authorities. This research aims to determine the effect of corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure on the firm performance (FP) of Spanish‐listed companies considering the mediation produced by the economic dimension. Using their sustainability reports, partial least squares structural equation modeling is employed for a content analysis. This study provides evidence on the mediating role of the disclosure of economic dimension practices and the intensity shown in the relationships between social and environmental dimensions and FP, allowing for a deeper understanding of the relationships between the various CSR dimensions. Findings show that the disclosure of social and environmental actions, aligned with appropriate standards in the economic dimension, can lead to an improvement in the FP of the company. The intensifying focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in recent years has attracted substantial scholarly interest in investigating the determinants of these disclosure practices. While notable similarities between ESG and CSR were found, the somewhat murky relationship between the two has introduced significant ambiguities into the academic discourse. To address this issue, this study performed a systematic review of 164 articles sourced from the Web of Science and Scopus databases, indicating post-2018 articles to constitute 70% and 81% concentrating on the extent of disclosures. The literature revealed substantial similarities in the theoretical frameworks and discovered determinants, but exposed considerable confusion concerning the definitions and proxies used for CSR disclosures which future research can address. This study aims to evaluate the level of corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure in the annual reports of Jordanian companies, and to examine its impact on stock market liquidity. The findings indicate a significant variation in the extent of CSR disclosure among the companies, with an average disclosure rate of 48.12% of the applicable items. The regression analysis results show no significant relationship between CSR disclosure and the bid–ask spread. The study concludes that investors do not heavily rely on CSR disclosures when making decisions about trading involving Jordanian companies. This lack of dependence may be attributed to such information's perceived inaccuracy or incompleteness. Purpose -- This study aims to examine the moderating effect of the company size on the relationship between Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) disclosure and company profitability in mining industry. Method -- This study employs multiple regression to examine the relationship between CSR disclosure and profitability using ROA and ROE proxies, with company size as a moderator. The observations were conducted on 12 mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the period of 2018-2022. Result -- We found that company size moderates the relationship between CSR disclosure and company profitability, using ROA and ROE as proxies. The results indicate that CSR disclosure had a positive and significant effect on company profitability when measured with ROA proxies but did not show significance with ROE proxies. In this study, we investigate the potential differences in topic-specific corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure between companies located in liberal market economies (LMEs) and coordinated market economies (CMEs). We also examine the potential convergence of the reporting practices that characterise these two economies over time. We analyse a sample of 5,939 CSR reports issued by European and U.S. firms over 2008–2019. We use textual analysis to examine how explicitly such reports address specific CSR topics. Following Matten and Moon (2008), we focus on three thematic areas: 'human resources', 'environmental protection', and 'society at large'. Each area comprises three distinct topics. Our results show that companies operating in LMEs report more explicitly on these thematic areas, with one exception: those operating in CMEs report more explicitly on parental policies. Additionally, the reporting practices of companies operating in these two types of economies converge for most of the topics under study. With the strong development of Financial Technology (FinTech) innovation in recent years, academic interest in the effect of FinTech on financial market has also increased significantly. To develop the field further, this study investigates the effect of FinTech development on future stock price crash risk and the role of corporate social responsibility in an emerging financial market. By using a sample of 662 listed firms in the Vietnamese stock exchange for the period 2011–2020 and applying the fixed‐effect and System GMM estimation method, we find that FinTech development results in increased stock price crash risk. However, corporate social responsibility disclosure can mitigate such effect. As an extension, we also provide evidence that the effect of FinTech development on crash risk is stronger and the role of corporate social responsibility disclosure becomes more important in small firms. Background and Purpose: This study aims to investigate the effect of family ownership, board characteristics (board foreign experience and board accounting expertise), and top management characteristics (management education level) on the quality of website Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) disclosure via corporate website among the top companies listed in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This study adds to the body of literature by examining the moderating effect of family ownership towards the relationship between board characteristics and website CSR disclosure, which is useful for investors who might have concerns on the level of CSR disclosure as a gauge of firm ethics, particularly in respect to family-owned firms. Methodology: Sample of this study consisted of 100 non-financial companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the year of 2019. To test the study's hypothesis, multiple linear regression analysis was applied. Findings: Empirical results from this study have shown that family ownership is negatively related to the quality of website CSR disclosure. Board foreign experience has a positive effect on CSR disclosure practices in their respective corporate websites. Meanwhile, top management education level was found to have a negative and statistically significant relationship with the quality of voluntary website CSR disclosure. Lastly, this study demonstrated that family ownership moderates the relationship between board accounting expertise and the quality of CSR disclosure on corporate websites. Contributions: This study contributes to the literature on CSR disclosure by introducing a set of index measuring the quality of voluntary website CSR disclosure, which captures not only the variety, but also the richness of CSR information. This article aims to investigate the role of board independence on corporate social responsibility disclosure (CSRDisc) and the moderating role of stakeholder e-engagement by social media (SM) in the relationship between these variables. The study uses econometric panel data dependence techniques on a sample of 347 firm-year observations related to Italian non-financial listed companies for the period 2017–2019. The results highlight that independent directors, particularly those appointed by minority shareholders, influence positively CSR disclosure. Additionally, this relationship is strengthened by stakeholder e-engagement created by social media (SM), since higher is the companies visibility on Facebook, Linked In, and Twitter, and hence the institutional pressure felt by its independent directors, greater is the CSRDisc. This article suggests a new metric to evaluate stakeholder engagement by SM and a new index to measure CSRDisc based on both Directive 95/2014 and Global Reporting Initiative standard. Today, companies are required to compete, in order to maintain their business. Companies are required to have a professional management structure in order to continue to survive and develop in this digital era. In the business world, companies are considered to only aim to get the maximum profit, even though companies need to pay attention to the impacts arising from their business activities, because the development of the business world focuses on the company's environment. The company is expected not only to prioritize the interests of management and owners of capital but also employees, consumers, society and the environment. This study aims to analyze the influence of profitability and leverage on CSR disclosure at mining companies in Indonesia. Profitability in this study is proxied by ROA (Return On Assets), Leverage is proxied by DER (Debt to Equity Ratio) and CSR Disclosure is proxied by GRI 4.0 index measurement. The target population in this study were 63 mining companies listed on the IDX for the 2022 period. However, for the research sample, only 51 companies passed the criteria, namely issuing annual reports and sustainability reports in this period.
