The article discusses the challenges and innovative strategies of establishing Mental Health and Well-being Locals in Victoria, focusing on the Benalla, Wangaratta, and Mansfield (BWM) Local. It highlights the importance of marketing, partnering with national organizations, and defining roles to recruit and maintain a rural mental health workforce, thereby improving mental health outcomes in rural communities.

The article examines several information resources related to mental illness treatment. They include "Dual Diagnosis Interactive" in DVD format by Richard Clancy and Margaret Terry as well as the books entitled "Motivational Dialogue: preparing addiction professionals for motivational interviewing practice," edited by Gillian Tober and Duncan Raistrick, and the "Dual Diagnosis Nursing," edited by G.H. Rassol. Information about the aims of the three resources as well as the several approaches on treating the substance abuse and mental disorders is provided.
