The purpose of this narrative review is to provide a deeper understanding of the benefits of traditional Chinese exercises, Baduanjin (BDJ), and provide strong evidence for the benefits of BDJ in the prevention and rehabilitation of disease. By alleviating symptoms and improving mental health, BDJ could be used to promote rehabilitation of Parkinson's disease, knee osteoarthritis, cancer, and COVID-19 sequelae. Further studies have demonstrated that BDJ not only promoted rehabilitation when used alone, but it was also more effective when combined with traditional Chinese medicine and other exercise techniques. There are more aging people and various diseases. This makes it necessary to develop effective measures that promote disease recovery. The function of the BDJ is to regulate the nervous system, the body, and the breathing, and as a form of enhanced physical exercise it is beneficial for the rehabilitation process. We hope more people can learn about traditional Chinese sports and benefit from long-term practice. Evidence suggests that BDJ can promote disease rehabilitation. In the present study, most clinical data is based on Chinese data, so there is a need for additional clinical data to support this conclusion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
